“All right, Padawans! It’s time for the great Jedi baking day of… baking… baked things! And Buckets of Blood is on the baking scene!”

If you are looking for something fluffy and to have a good time, this is the best place to find it. Especially because of the delicious food we get too.

As always, Buckets of Blood is a complete delight of a character that can brighten any room the moment he is there, I swear. Seeing him with all the younglings is quite the sweet treat. Pairing him with Master Katam really delivers a fun time.

There is a little story told, which I was not expecting, but it was pretty fun and easy to read. And I got to meet some characters that I know we'll never see again but that I totally loved.

Overall, I just had a great time reading this and it was exactly what I was looking for, that being, something cute to pass the time.

Having that recipe at the end was just really the cherry on top. I need to try to bake those sweets now.

“Empathy. The ability to understand and share the feelings of another. A core tenet of being a Jedi. But, without balance and discipline, even empathy can overwhelm us, and give rise to chaos!”

Buckets of Blood is always such a delight to have and it was so good to see him again.

This was as delightful as I expected but it also had much more angst than the title let on.

Okay, this looks like it's going to be super fluffy and fun and that is exactly what I need right now after the ending of the last book and comics.

So, on we go with the fun!

If this was part of the main series, I'd probably side-eye this issue for not progressing the plot in any way, but as a side story that is meant to give the characters a much needed break, it perfectly executed what it was trying to achieve. After all, this run is still aimed at kids, and with an adorable baking plot and a b-plot that teaches readers a heartfelt lesson, the Galactic Bake-Off certainly brought a smile to my face.

"There is fear, there is death. But there is also life! – There is also hope. Even in the midst of terror. You must trust in the Force.”

3,5/5!

This is a cute little extra story about the HR Adventures characters, mainly Buckets of Blood and Kantam Sy, the two major Jedi masters of the series. There's baking, lessons about co-operation and the power of friendship, and many cute, funny moments!

Kantam Sy and Buckets of Blood have been part of the Adventures series for a long time and while we've gotten to know them both quite well, they have always been just supporting characters for the kids. It was nice to have a story just about them, their long-lasting friendship and how they operate as Jedi. I love them both a lot and so this was just great fun to read.

I'm only giving this a 3,5/5 however because while this was cute and all, it wasn't anything super remarkable. I don't feel like I learned anything new about Kantam or Buckets - although I don't think this issue was meant to be a super in-depth look into either of them. I would recommend picking this up if you like the HR Adventures comic - it's more cute fun with some of our heroes!

Is it essential reading? No. It doesn't advance any of the ongoing storylines of the High Republic, and doesn't add any new insights into any of the characters.

But did I care? Kriff no. This was still a fun and wholesome story about selfless and daring jedi who will do anything to save and enrich the lives of those around them. There's actually a recipe at the end showing you the reader how to make for yourself what the characters made in this one-shot for the Bake-off. And even this little inclusion (ESPECIALLY this little inclusion!) highlight everything that I have loved about the High Republic as an era. as well as the thematic elements that pretty much every story in this project is working to convey.

"BUCKETS OF BLOOD HAS PUT THE DELICIOUS PASTRY TREATS IN THE PRE-HEATED OVEN!!!"

The above is said by Buckets of Blood, but when you have a name like that, how could you not constantly talk in the third person?

This was cute - I'm not a particular fan of this franchise, but it stood alone pretty satisfactorily. I wouldn't have minded a bit more of the baking, but it did raise the question of what happens to aged Jedi, and that interested me. Art is good. All round absolutely fine and a nice diversion.

The Good: the artwork of these kids comics is so vibrant and fun. I REALLY like how the art changes between the A story (baking) and the B story (flashback).

The Bad: the ending. I’m just not sure what happened in the B story. Where did they jump to? It just seemed a bit lazy... as if the artists had to finish up the story in an hour.

The Annoying: “Wizard.” If you read it, you’ll understand. Even as a “joke” for children, it’s immature.

I refuse to write because this comic gave me a headache. I ... it's for kids but the original trilogy was too. I....I just can't do this without my blood boiling. This is not good Star Wars.

Cute, not the most gripping but I enjoy anything High Republic and after all that’s gone on in recent releases so light relief was nice

Such a cute one-off comic that tells a story of friendship and trust in the midst of the Great Disaster.

A fun one shot. Sometimes it's nice to see characters just be friend rather than have some high-stakes conflict always going on.
