A frog goes from the backyard into the house and causes havoc in every room. With engaging sound effects, rhythmic text, and just the right amount of repetition, this is a fantastic family read-aloud. And Debbie Tilley's infectiously funny art shows the hilariously cumulative effect of the frog on this hapless family. A winning combination.
A frog gets loose in the house, and a merry chase ensues. That's about it, and if you don't like reading sound effects in lieu of story, then avoid this one.
A mischievous frog causes trouble as he hops into a house and interrupts an entire family. This is a silly book essentially made for those who want to make a lot of sound effects at storytime.
A cute story, but not one I was sold for storytime. Most of the action is in the pictures, and one would have to point out some of the humorous things. The pictures are older and might not be as eye-catching. And even the animal sounds (what I'd had in mind for the storytime) were repetitive and a bit boring in that regard. I like the ending. But this one just wasn't what I wanted.
Frog starts out in the backyard and fribbity ribbits all through the house causing confusion and mayhem wherever he goes. Pictures are engaging, yet the text is so minimal that some of the humor would need to be pointed out in the story for a younger audience.
I'm getting really sick of authors who think writing for children means an overuse of onomatopoeia and endless repetition of "fun" wordplay. AAAUUUGH! What happened to engaging plot and beautiful illustrations?
