Aster Ridge Ranch #4

A Bandit's Vow

Rate this book
She never dared to dream of a love of her own.

He never dreamed marriage would be his most dangerous exploit.

Eloise Morris always puts her family first, and she spends her days working hard to support them. Marriage has never been part of her plans, but when Eloise is suddenly faced with the prospect of losing their family farm she does the unthinkable and accepts an offer of marriage... from a man who is little more than an outlaw.

By rights, Aaron Harder should have been dead by now. Long ago, he chose to live fast and die young. Against all odds, he's somehow still standing. But hiding out with money burning a hole in his pockets, waiting for the day a bounty hunter will come to take him to the gallows, is not living. When fate hands him a chance to do one good thing with his miserable life, he grasps it and offers himself to Eloise Morris as her husband in a marriage of convenience meant to save her family from ruin.

Now if Aaron can only get Eloise to look him in the eye, this washed-up bandit might just be able to propose to the fresh-faced young woman with the beautiful innocent eyes who is much, much too good for a man like himself…

A Bandit’s Vow is book four in the Aster Ridge Ranch series, after A Widow’s Vow. It is a clean romance and can be read as a standalone.

This was the first book I’ve read by Kate Condie and certainly won’t be the last! A Bandit’s Vow is a creative unique marriage of convenience story set in the Wild West. Having not read the previous books in the series, I worried I wouldn’t be able to truly appreciate the story. Happily, I found this can definitely be read as a stand alone. With a slow burn romance, an enemies to lovers vibe, and interesting characters, I was completely pulled into the story.

Eloise is a strong heroine who fiercely cares for her family. After her father’s bout with polio, the family farm is barely hanging on. Determined to help save it, Eloise takes on extra work and forgoes marriage though she has plenty of suitors. When her brother Lachlan needs expensive malaria treatments, she has no idea how they’ll survive.

Aaron, a reformed bandit, has his sights set on Eloise. While he’s admired by her family, Eloise can barely stand him. Learning of Lachlan’s plight, he offers to help pay the family’s expenses, but only if Eloise will agree to marry him.

When Eloise and Aaron marry, the sparks fly, but not from love. Eloise resents Aaron more than anything and when another man pays her attention, Aaron’s jealous side comes out. Will the two ever be able to find love?

I enjoyed watching their relationship change and grow. My favorite thing was the rope mattress that sagged in the middle forcing these two combatants into close proximity. It’s a clean romance, but with plenty of heat.

The way Aaron dealt with Eloise, especially with regard to having children bothered me a bit. Some of his actions were too easily glossed over and forgiven. However, this outlaw with a heart of gold eventually won me over and I couldn’t help rooting for him to win over Eloise too.

I really enjoyed this story and am hoping for a book 5! Now, I want to go back and read the previous books in the series. Definitely one author to put on your radar especially if you like western romances. Thanks to the author for providing an advanced copy of this book. My review is freely given and all opinions are my own.

I've always had a thing for the marriage of convenience trope, probably because it illustrates that love is just as much a choice we make as it is a feeling we experience. That being said, A Bandit's Vow was an excellent book to curl up with during a winter storm.

Let's start with the characters. I loved Eloise, and how fiercely independent and protective of her family she was. I felt like she and Aaron balanced each other out well, and their chemistry (while sometimes a bit explosive) was great. I had a harder time connecting to the other characters, but I think it's because this book is a part of the series, and so I was jumping into the middle of their collective story.

My only real complaint was that I was really expecting more of a climax at the end. There was a small bit of drama at the end, but it was really short and felt anticlimactic. Aaron is a wanted ex-criminal who is living in hiding, and so I was waiting for him to be discovered and have to face court and then be released because of good behavior, or some other dramatic ending life that. Even in Aaron and Eloise's relationship, I kept waiting for the moment that they both realized that they actually cared for each other instead of just tolerating each other. The whole story felt like it was building towards something big, but ended without any real climax.

Overall, this was a fun read, and I would be interested to read the other books in this series so that I could appreciate the other characters more fully.

I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own, and I am writing a voluntary review.

This book is the fourth installment in the author’s Aster Ridge Ranch series. I have not read the previous three books. While technically a stand-alone, there were some elements of the story that I felt I was missing the backstory on. Nothing overly crucial, primarily an understanding of who each person was and what they were to one another, but those questions were there. If you should find yourself interested in this book, just know going in that most of the characters will not be explained to you and you’ll only be acquainted with the two protagonists.

This is an enemies to lovers western historical romance story. The characters make it painfully clear in the first half of the book that the situation is not ideal. Eloise in particular is distant and cold, to the point of being rude to Aaron. Though, in all fairness, she made her position and feelings clear enough that it shouldn’t have been a surprise to Aaron.

I’ll be honest, Aaron sometimes bothered and confused me (Eloise’s father falls into this category as well). Characters like these always ignite my inner feminist and make it perfectly clear that she is not okay with the treatment women of the past received. I can see in many ways how Aaron’s treatment of Eloise would have been accurate to the time period. But my inner feminist still didn’t like it. Particularly as he generally seemed a kind, respectful fellow, but then he would be demanding and harsh to Eloise and the two parts of his character didn’t match up. I really wanted him to apologize to her for his mistrust and harshness, though he never did. But again, his attitude was probably accurate for the time period, so if you value historical accuracy, you’ll be able to see the value in that.

All of that said, I really loved the ending. It was so sweet and tender and absolutely made me love it. Overall, sweet story with some good forced proximity and one bed tension going on.

**Many thanks to the author for an advanced copy of the book, in exchange for an honest review. These are my own thoughts.

What. A. Journey.

I read this book in one sitting and felt like I'd been through the best kind of whirlwind as a reader, like I emerged from this setting and these characters and had to readjust to reality again. How is this my first Kate Condie experience?! Y'all have been holding out on me.

The drama. The enemies-to-lovers (which is my FAVE). The tension. The eventual softening of hard hearts. This book has it all. And though it is part of a series, I read it as a stand alone and felt completely engrossed from the first few pages. Eventually it was evident that I was missing some history, but not enough to hinder the story in any way.

I didn't agree with all of the choices that characters made. Aaron is perceived as a dead man walking and I truly wish readers could have had more access to the angst of that as he grew closer to Eloise throughout the story. But in general, this is such an entertaining read that encourages me to read the rest of the series!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. All expressed opinions belong to me.

Sweet Slow Burn Western Romance

This is a new to me author and my first historical romance that wasn’t Regency.

First, I was totally drawn in by this super pretty cover. There’s something so soothing about it. Then I was caught up in the story of a bandit (I guess the Western version of a bad boy criminal?) with a heart of gold and limited life to live who decides to take a wife to spend the rest of his days with.

Aaron has gambled on a lot of decisions in his life but asking Eloise to marry him definitely isn’t one of them. He’s made a hidden home in Aster Ridge and worked hard to be the good man he can be but bounty hunters are ever only a moment’s peace away. Eloise’s family, while rich in love, has always been a moment’s peace away from possible financial ruin. With her brother suddenly hospitalized and desperately needing a long course of medicine to recover, Aaron’s proposal and offer of financial help came at just the right time. Eloise has never entertained the idea of getting married because her family needed her with them but now she’s got to help out in a different way.

These two are devoted to their own causes at first but there’s definitely a tiny spark of chemistry that’s fighting to burn bright. As they get to know each other, they realize that perhaps what they always thought they knew or wanted isn’t even close to what they need. Each other. For a lifetime.

I really enjoyed Kate’s emotional yet concise storytelling style. She lets the characters shine and I love this time period. It’s not as restrictive as Regency with all its rules about propriety. Women are stronger and just get things done. Gotta love women like that! Don’t hesitate to one-click this heartwarming historical clean read.

This is going to be a weird start for a review , but hey, it’s a me Mireille, I’m always weird... Ok, so here we go.

I’ve always been a fan of Elvis, it’s one of those artists I just decided I was in love with some day and needed all I could find on him. Part of the things you can find on Elvis are his movies. So I became obsessed with those. I think I'm still missing some, but I have A LOT. And somehow, even though they might be a little kitsch and a little old, I find them comforting. With the new movie about Elvis that came out this year (and a "little" push from our favourite Elvis fan, my sweet friend McKenna) I fell down the rabbit hole again.

All that story to say that I was in need of more Elvis vibes! I’m a mood reader haha a very specific mood reader! So yeah, I picked this book cause it had a little Charro! vibe to it HAHAHA I’M SORRY it is the longest intro.

ACTUAL REVIEW HERE!
The book was honestly just what I needed. It was a nice story of two people learning to be together and it was just soft and soothing. It wasn’t an extra long read so I enjoyed it a lot. You know how sometimes you just need a little something before getting into a more intense read. Well it was perfect for that.

A Bandit’s Vow is a sweet marriage of convenience story about two people who didn’t realize how lonely they were until they got to be together. Both characters were quite enjoyable, strong, and I did like to see them discover their feelings for each other slowly and see their relationship grow. I’m always here for a jealous character haha I don’t know why I enjoy it so much in books but Aaron was perfect. This is a clean romance with lots of swoony moments to it, which I appreciated a lot! Such great moments where the tension was palpable and I loved every second of it.

Even though the book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I will now need to read the first 3 books (At this point I feel like I have a passion for reading books in the wrong order haha).

Confession: I haven’t read the first three books in the series! Admission: It didn’t matter because this book is awesome! It is so good that I want to go back and read the first three in the series. Eloise is head strong and so is Aaron. In fact, I am not sure who was the most stubborn! How did these two ever think they could make a marriage of convenience work? I love this trope and Condie did an excellent job developing the characters and their relationship with each other. This story had me feeling so many emotions. Sadness, fear, love, worry, calm, serenity. So many emotions! Add in the fact that Aaron is a former bandit and it just puts it to the next level! This story was an easy read and hard to put down! Honestly I just gobbled it up like my favorite dessert! I cannot wait to read what Condie writes next! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Eloise and Aaron. The author does a great job building the story and pulled me in with the interesting story line. She moves the story fluidly with her detailed and descriptive writing and delivers an entertaining story. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.

My word! When I first looked at the blurb for this book I was interested. Marriage of convenience? Yes please! Mix that in with a reformed bandit, okay I'll give it a try. But since this is book 4 and I have a thing about reading books in order, I quickly binge read the first three books (all of which were so good by the way). By the time I got to this story, I was like whoa those two characters get together?? How?! So I was even more invested. You do not have to read any of the other books first but I think it helps give a fuller, richer background to the story.

Aaron Harder is an ex-outlaw and a wanted man. His time on Earth is short but while he waits for that time to come, he wants some companionship. In comes Eloise. Her family is not well off financially after her father was paralyzed from an illness and yet another life altering illness strikes her family, her brother this time. Aaron has more money than he needs just stored away and offers to help Eloise's family. But he wants marriage in return.

This was definitely a phenomenal story, possibly one of my favorites in the series? Who knows, it's too hard to pick. There was definitely some fire between Aaron and Eloise, but not of the romantic kind. At least, not at first. Each one was clinging to their own hurts that tempers were constantly flying. But they've got nothing but time together. They start to open up and learn to trust each other. I would recommend this story (and the whole series) to any historic romance fans out there or to anyone really. It was very well written.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.

A Bandit's Vow is the 5th book in Kate Condie’s Aster Ridge Ranch series. It is the first book that I have read written by this author, but I did enjoy it. A Bandit’s Vow is a historical romance with an intriguing plot and fascinating characters.
Eloise is content on her family’s farm helping out her family. She never expected to marry and she has resigned herself to her faith, but when her family needs money she finds herself married. Eloise finds herself married to a bandit who can help pay for her brother’s medical needs. Aaron was a bandit on his own, he was hiding from the law. He didn’t expect to live for long, and he didn’t expect to find himself married. However he found himself drawn to Eloise. Will Eloise and Aaron learn to make their marriage work or will it always just be an agreement?
Eloise was an interesting character because I wasn’t sure how I felt about her. She was kind of angry but I was understandable as she was married to a stranger. I did like how she cared for her family. It was sweet to read about her learning to understand Aaron and truly seeing him. Eloise was kind, but she also had to learn that change was not a bad thing.
Aaron was also interesting. I liked him and I didn't. I felt bad for him, but he was also a bandit so I feel as if he wasn’t always one of the “good guys.” I really felt for him by the end of the book though. I liked how he cared for Eloise and he tried to make her happy. At first he was just lonely but then he started to see Eloise for the kind and strong women that she was. Aaron had to learn that marriage was hard work and that he needed to work with his wife.
Eloise and Aaron were fun to read about together. I enjoyed reading about them falling in love. The plot was interesting and there were a couple of things that I didn't see coming. I really liked the ending, it felt perfect for the book.
A Bandit's Vow is a historical romance, I would label it as more closed door instead of clean because there were a couple of innuendos. I would recommend it to those who enjoy historical romances.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

A shadowed past and a marriage of convenience.

Eloise works hard to help support her family and care for her brother, not short on suitors she agrees to marry reformed outlaw Aaron Harder to secure her family's future.

A Eloise is a loyal daughter, and I admired her for stepping into strange new territory for the sake of her family. She makes the best out of a tough situation. It was understandable that they would have miscommunications, though I did think that Aaron could have tried harder to make things easier for Eloise, by taking more time to get to get to know her from the beginning.

Overall a clean historical romance set in the mountains, the fourth in series, but also a standalone. A sweet marriage of convenience romance, with a strong heroine.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I liked this story! Katie Condie is a new author to me, and I’m sure I’ll be reading more of her books!
This is the fourth book in the Aster Ridge Ranch series and I have to admit I haven’t read the previous three, but I’m sure I’ll have to read them now, to get to know better all the characters stories.
A marriage of convenience is always one of my favorite tropes, and this story had the plus of another trope: enemies to lovers.
Eloise Morris loves her family fiercely and is always sacrificing from them, love has no room in her life yet. She works hard with the neighbors as a cook to give her family the money and helps out her mother with the house chores. Ever since her father became crippled, things have been especially hard on the family. And now, her brother Lachlan is ill and they don’t have the money enough to pay for his treatment. But an unexpected rescuer makes a surprising offer to help the family financially. Aaron Harder is a reformed bandit, but he’s a wanted man, and if discovered, his head would end up in a noose. He lives a humble life, working hard, but he has a lot of money hidden that could be used to a better purpose, like helping the Morris family, who helped him when he was injured and welcomed him into their home. That is, except for Eloise, who seems to be the only one in the family to hold little or no appreciation for him. But if he’s going to have a short life, he wants to spend it with a woman by his side, so he offers to marry Eloise, the woman he admires from afar, in exchange for his money. Mr. and Ms. Morris know Aaron is now a good man, and have no qualms to agree to the proposition. But how can Eloise marry a man she despises? She’ll do it, but only for her family’s sake, to save them from ruin and specially to save her brother’s life. The marriage seems to start with the wrong foot. And sparks fly, but not exactly in a romantic way. Do these two stubborn hearts stand a chance?
The romance was slow-burn, sweet and clean. Eloise made it hard for Aaron and she put high walls between them, and maybe that enticed him all the more. I loved how the relationship slowly changes as they get to really know each other, their fears and dreams, as they spend time together. And how Aaron’s kind heart and devotion slowly melts down her walls. I have to admit he annoyed me a bit at first, for forcing the marriage, but he quickly grew on me. Also, it was endearing how they learn to trust one another. The story is very emotional! My heart ached for both while they sorted out their struggles, their feelings, their hopes. Both characters had great qualities, like Eloise’s love for her family and Aaron’s strong determination. Yet they were both flawed in pride and stubbornness and that made them more relatable. It was humbling how they both changed in different, yet needed ways. The ending was particularly good. I recommend this for all Historical Romance lovers!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Girl Meets Bandit: Watering the Seeds of Love

You know you're reading a book by a talented writer when they can elicit a wide range of emotions! And in A Bandit's Vow, Kate Condie will have you stress-nail-biting and angrily "humphing" to yourself as the complicated relationship between Eloise and Aaron plays out.

Eloise Morris is a young, strong, and clever heroine. By the time we reach her love story, Eloise is much more outspoken than when we first met her in Della's kitchen. She is also incredibly stubborn! The eldest daughter of a hardworking but poor family, Eloise puts love and loyalty to her family above all else. So when her brother, Lachlan, requires expensive medical treatment and the bandit-next-door, Aaron Harder, offers to pay for it if she'll marry him, Eloise has hardly any real choice in the matter.

Fortunately, Aaron has slowly evolved from a lawless man to a much more honorable one. He also has a tender and gentle side, and is committed to taking things extremely slowly with Eloise. But when another man enters the picture, things become very complicated for the newlyweds. Soon Aaron and Eloise are struggling mightily to build the trust and care so essential for their newfound marriage. At many times, things seem on the verge of crumbling--and that was when I came close to throwing my Kindle! I also wished I could give a certain character a smack more than once. (See what I mean about "strong emotions"? )

Kate Condie is a master of constructing intimacy in the small ways--and this marriage of convenience tale was the perfect opportunity for her to show off this skill. It is not the physical closeness which defines this story but the small moments--like Aaron and Eloise lifting a heavy wooden chest out of a wagon. She drops her end--she needs him to get it into the house. Or a small detail in the kitchen when Eloise serves her new husband biscuits--and proceeds to shock him when she pours tomato juice on her own. These are the moments that this author excels at and which really bring the American West / frontier setting of the stories to life. You never doubt for a second where you are--at a beautiful but isolated ranch on the plains of Montana, where a group of hardworking men and women are building a new life for themselves and a community in the process.

In Kate Condie's stories, love does not come easily. It takes considerable work. You'll have to read on for yourself to see whether Aaron and Eloise have what it takes to grow their marriage from a seed to a sprout.

Marrying A Former Outlaw Wasn't In Her Plans

A Bandit’s Vow is book four in the Aster Ridge Ranch series and this is the first one in the series that I have read. Even though it could be read as a standalone. story there are a lot of characters mentioned in this book that must have their stories told in the previous books. I think I may have enjoyed this story more if I had read the previous books.

Eloise Morris is part of a hard working family that has faced many tragedies in the past and now one of her brothers is facing a severe health problem that requires expensive medication. The family is just about surviving and on the edge of losing their farm. Eloise helps out by giving her wages earned cooking on another farm to the family. She's had a lot of men show interest in her but she feels she needs to put her family first so doesn't plan on getting married.
So when a former outlaw that they brought back to health after getting shot, offers to help out financially if she will marry him- she has a hard time saying yes.

Aaron Harder used to be head of a known outlaw gang and there is a warrant out for his arrest. He knows that a bounty hunter could find him at any time and that he probably won't be living a long life even though he has changed his ways. One thing he does have is lots of gold and he wants to help out the family that took care of him and have made him part one of their own. He is tired of being lonely and wants a wife so he offers Eloise a solution to her family's problems by offering to marry her. He is hoping that she will come to love him before his time is up.

It was fun watching the relationship change between Aaron and Eloise. She had some real issues with Aaron and his past and also that there was a chance that the marriage would be very short. Even though he was a hardened outlaw in his past, he showed nothing but respect and concern for Eloise even when she seemed kind of harsh and uncaring towards him.

I picked this up on a whim and was utterly delighted.

This is the fourth in a series (which I didn't realise) but I would stay it stands pretty well on its own, once you get past the first couple of chapters.

From what I gathered, Aaron Harder was previously the leader of a bandit gang until he decided to leave that life, and his second in command shot him and stole his gold (or at least some of it). He recovered from his injuries in thanks to Eloise's family. He now lives his life off the grid and helping on a farm since he's still a wanted man and would 100% hang if he was caught. This brings us to this book.

Eloise for her part works as a maid/help at the same farm as Aaron so that she can support her impoverished family since her father is infirm following a bout of polio. Adding to her worries is the recent malaria diagnosis for one of her brothers which would require frequent expensive treatment.

Anyway, Aaron decides he likes Eloise and since he's likely to die soon anyway he decides he'll offer marriage. This way he can pay for her brother's treatments and he gets companionship through his last days. The issue is that Eloise absolutely despises Aaron but her loyalty to her family is too strong to pass on this offer.

What follows is how Aaron and Eloise can make their marriage work since they're not starting from a strong foundation. And I was here for it. I've always said I prefer married couples' romance because there's less predictability in the plot. I throughly enjoyed reading how Eloise slowly softened to Aaron and Aaron learned how to compromise.

Super enjoyable. It doesn't hurt that up until reading this I had been in an awful slump for a hot minute, and my attempts to break said slump resulted in a wave of DNFs and low-rated books. This was a breath of fresh air.

I was planning on reading the rest of this series, but I'm currently reading "The Cowboy's Vow" and I'm not enjoying it as much as this one so we'll see.

“Will you trust me and let me care for you as though you were truly mine? As though we were two young people in love?”

I’ve seen the other books in this series raved about, but since I’m not generally a western fan, I haven’t gotten to them yet. When I was offered an advanced copy by the author, I figured it was time to try this series out, and I’m so glad I did!

A reformed bandit and a marriage of convenience had me intrigued. And the fire between these two (Not the romantic kind initially), had me wondering how they would ever work things out. With nothing but time together, they slowly learn to turn their fire and tempers into a slow burn romance.

Aaron was a reformed bandit and widely known and wanted. He had been cared for by and then became close to Eloise’s family after an injury. He was close to everyone in the family, except Eloise, who always kept him at a distance. Knowing his life was likely to be cut short when he was found by the law, he decides he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life lonely, and therefore contrived a plan to get a bride and help out the family he has grown to love.

Eloise really had my heart. She was truly such a good selfless person, but she understandably wanted to protect herself from getting hurt. She does not understand why Aaron wants to get married when he is at large and likely not going to be around long. Why let him into her heart, when he’s just going to leave her a widow?

Not much happened in the book. 3/4 of the book was her hating him for no reason at all. Repetitive thoughts from both main characters constantly throughout the book. Nothing happened for them to fall in love yet they supposedly did. A clean romance. The potential for a good book was there, but there was so much of nothing happening that could have been cut and other things put in like them actually spending time together and getting to know each other. Good rating because I liked the characters, side characters, and it was well written, but overall wasn’t that great.
PS: there is a scummy thing the husband does- having her drink a tea that prevents conception without telling her that’s what it was for. Not that they had sex at all in the book because he was waiting two weeks while the tea “took effect”. What a scumbag thing to do! And at the end, she mentions maybe getting the tea for herself since she had a kid and was pregnant with the other and smiled at his slipping her the tea in the beginning to prevent conception. Nothing to smile about, girl! Things like contraception needs to be discussed between partners not deceptively done to them!

Ever since Eloise, helped Aaron Harder get better. Herfamily has loved him, some of them even worshiped him, but not Eloise. The emotion she feels most distained when it comes to Mr. harder. So when her brother Lachlan becomes very ill with malaria and needs expensive treatments. She is surprised and dismayed that mr.harder has offered for her hand in marriage and the only reason she agrees is because she has promised to spend her life helping her family. So if this will help she will do it and she does. I absolutely love this historical romance book and although I have never read any books from this series besides this one. I totally start planning on reading the rest. I can’t say enough about how great the writing was in the storyline. This is not your typical mix, lather and retreat historical romance. It is one with depth and feeling and I loved it! I received this book from book sprout and the author but I am leaving this review totally voluntarily .

I know I say this a lot, but I really did love this book. The conflict between the characters and the depth of emotion felt real and authentic. This was a real enemies to lovers marriage of convenience.

The thing I like best about this story and this type of story in general is that there is so much growth that happens in both characters as they get to know themselves and each other. This story featured Ellie and Aaron. Both had prejudices and ideas about the other one that were not entirely accurate, but they had the same view within themselves. Aaron doesn't see himself as worth loving, and Ellie almost starts out as mercenary. She does things because it is the right thing to do, but that doesn't mean she is going to like it.

I loved the growth and the journey of the characters and fell in love with them as I went.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review

This is book four in the Aster Ranch series, but if you haven't read the previous books, no worries, you can easily read this as a standalone. This is a sweet and clean marriage of convenience story. Eloise looks out for her family and is hardworking, but despite, all her efforts there is a chance they might lose the family farm. So she decides her only choice is to marry, something she thought she would never do. Aaron is a reformed bandit of sorts with a heart of gold and has his heart set on Eloise. When her family financial situation is in dire straits, she accepts Aaron's proposal and financial help. The two definitely have an attraction to each other and the sparks are clearly there. It is only a matter of time before this marriage of convenience turns into something more. This was a really sweet and emotional read, and I very much enjoyed it. A wonderful addition to the series!

I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This book is a journey. Honestly when I started reading it, I didn't think I would like it. But it grows on you, and builds a great emotional story. This is the 4th book in the Aster Ridge Ranch series, and I've loved all the books so far. Eloise is dedicated to her family, and will continue helping them and considers she will never be able to marry and have a family of her own. They are poor, and the family all need each other to survive. Aaron Harder is a former outlaw, he assumes he will be either caught and hung, or shot and die, one way or the other. He had a terrible childhood, and craves love and affection. When Eloise's brother needs expensive medical treatment, Aaron agrees to provide them with all the money they need, in exchange for Eloise agreeing to marry him. She reluctantly agrees, and now the story really begins. A good read, as all the Aster Ridge Ranch books have been.

I was given an arc of this book and asked to post a review. Here is my honest review:
This was a very well written book. Even though I have not read the previous books in the series I do not think it hindered my ability to follow the story. Aaron is not your typical hero. He has a shady past that he fears will catch up up to him soon. He devises a plan to help a needy family prior to his demise, but will the person he has in mind to help execute his plan cooperate? Eloise has convinced herself that she will never marry because her family needs her. When the time comes, will she be able to follow her heart? I enjoyed the storyline as it is slightly different from other books in this genre. And, I loved the ending!

This was a great story about a marriage of convenience. Aaron, being a former bandit has lots of money and wants the love of a woman before he is caught and killed for his crimes. Eloise is loyal and supportive to her family and needs money to help save her brother with expensive medical treatments. I was a little confused at the beginning and would have loved more of Aaron's background (I have not read the other books in the series). There is tension between the two when a young man tries to fight for Eloise. There is witty banter between them and Eloise slowly falls for the outlaw. It was a wonderful story and very well written.

An unwanted choice or?
When a man wanted by the law decides that it is time to settle his affairs just in case meets a woman who is in serious need of money see way to get what he wants. The heroine of the tale loves her family but with a father who disabled and a brother deathly ill and no money for treatment will do something she really does not want to do. It is for the family. I found both Eloise and Aaron to be very interesting characters along with some unexpected twists and decisions being made. This book was easy to get lost in and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Absolutely brilliant!

The angst, anger, tender and tearful moments were all here in this beautiful, clean, historical, romantic story.

One moment I was mad and the next my heart was racing with anticipation as the story unfolded - the writing was so good!

I love to read books in order but in this case I hadn’t (yet!!) but the story made sense as a stand alone.

Thoroughly recommend this absorbing read and am away to look about the previous books plus looking forward to the next book in the series as well!

Please Read!

I received this as an ARC from the author and this is my own opinion.

Loved this sweet story with Eloise and Aaron. He is a reformed criminal and she is working at the next ranch to her family ranch to help with expenses. Her family took in Aaron several months ago when he was shot and now he works at the same ranch where she works. Her family needs money for the treatment of her brother who is in the hospital so Aaron offers money for her hand in marriage. She does not like him and tells him but soon she begins to have feelings for the husband she never wanted. Well written with wonderful characters.

Aaron and Eloise

This is an action packed, excitement filled, love story. Aster ranch is the home to several families, some quite wealthy and some just barely making it. Aaron is an outlaw that was shot and left to die at one of the family farms. Aaron has healed and has quite a bit of money and gold from robberies buried. He marries the oldest daughter to provide her family to pay for her brother’s medical and hospital care. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

A Bandits Vow

Wow! I thought the other stories were great, this one was exceptional to me. Aaron was a Thief and murder in his life before he came to the valley looking for Thomas, an old friend he grew up with. Eloise, was the help in Bastien’s household. Della, his wife, befriended Eloise, and they worked together in the house. The family found Aaron mar death, he had been shot by one of the gang members. Eloise’s brother found him, and bused him back to health. This story contains o much more. Jut enjoy their journey to happiness.

Sweet Historical Romance

I haven't read the previous books in this series, so I was a little lost at first, but, I easily found myself absorbed in the cares and fears of Eloise! Not that I could relate to her concerns, but that I could understand and empathize with! She felt like a real person, and a dear friend, her character was displayed so flawlessly! I'm so glad they had a happy ending!! And, I'm looking forward to going back and reading the rest of this series!
