She’s fiercely independent. He’s determined to protect her.

Wisconsin, 1933—When a routine mission becomes an ambush that kills his team, Craft Agency sniper Miles Wright determines to find the persons responsible and protect the woman he rescued. But the fierce independence that led Lily Moore to leave her family’s dairy business for the solitary life of a dog trainer and the isolation of her farm don’t make that easy. Neither does his unwanted attraction to her. Meanwhile, escalating incidents confirm that she’s far from safe.

Lily fears letting the surprisingly gentle retired marine into her life almost as much as she fears whoever is threatening her. As Wisconsin farmers edge toward another milk strike, one that will surely turn violent, it becomes clear that the plot against Lily may be part of a much larger conspiracy. When the search for her abductor leads close to home, she must decide whether to trust her family or the man who saved her life.

Captivating story surrounding the milk strikes in Wisconsin during the Depression. Having lived in Wisconsin for 11 years, I was intrigued by the history.
The author brings to life the turbulent times with a heroine who is independent and a hero who is strong and resilient.
Lily Moore is an unwitting pawn in the conflict between the dairy farmers and the milk distributors. Miles Wright and his team from the Craft Agency have been hired to protect Lily. After a disastrous rescue, Miles finds himself the only thing between Lily and peril. The author has captured the tension and danger in a time when people were fighting for a fair price in order to keep their businesses afloat and families fed. Ms Grandinetti piqued my interest with her characterizations of her villains and family dynamics. Add to that keeping of secrets and a growing fondness between Miles and Lily and you have an exciting, well crafted story of an important time in our history.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This story was action packed right from the beginning and kept me guessing throughout the entire book. There were so many characters and so much woven into the reasons behind the violence and danger that Lily and Miles kept finding themselves in the middle of. I had some trouble keeping so many characters straight in my mind at times. There were twists and turns to the twists and turns! But the author did a good job of pulling it all together in the end and showing how everything was connected.

Throughout the story, Lily and Miles made some decisions that I just didn’t understand and that frustrated me. I also struggled with the way Lily’s brother and father reacted to Miles for a good portion of the book. I did enjoy the romance that began to brew between Lily and Miles. It seemed very natural. So, while I sometimes questioned the decision making of the characters, I enjoyed the story overall.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Y’all… This story is fascinating on so many distinct levels. Danielle Grandinetti captured me right from the start in this story with the vivid history of the Wisconsin mill strikes. I have family there who went through some of it, and I LOVED. Getting to learn more about it though Danielle Grandinetti’s characters, Miles, and Lily.
Danielle Grandinetti brought to life an era filled with turbulent times and she made it seem real, with a ton of great action mixed in to boot! It grabbed me and would not let me go!
So many twists and turns in this book 😊 I loved it and cannot wait to read the other books in the Strike to the heart series!

“He might be an exsoldier, a sniper trained to kill, but he prayed daily that kindness would be the trait people would identify most when they interacted with him.”

I love how Danielle Grandinetti marries Miles’s sniper’s skills to that of a tender heart! Strong, shrewd, and swoon-worthy, Miles is willing to sacrifice everything for those he loves. A totally relatable romantic suspense hero. Then, Grandinetti’s heroine, Lily, is a similar juxtaposition of traits. Fiercely independent, Lily is a compassionate, dog trainer who needs protection. She can push the ones she cares about to great heights. Now Grandinetti really had my attention, and I was swiping pages as fast as I could to reach the conclusion of A Strike to the Heart. While this was my first Grandinetti novel, it won’t be my last.

Faith is a constant thread throughout this novel. Lily seeks God out daily. Miles isn’t quite as comfortable with God due to past events, but one hopes and prays he will find his way totally back to God. Perhaps… ”second chances were meant for redemption.”

Miles needs redemption in more ways than one. He fails his team, it seems. Will he fail to protect Lily, who is becoming very important to him? Will he fail his boss? Lily’s family, who doesn’t care much for him?

Which begs the next question. In this fast-paced action novel, who is trustworthy? Who is treacherous? Relationships are tested. The milk strikes of 1933 were dangerous, yet Lily’s family is embroiled in the midst of it all. What, if anything, does Lily’s kidnapping have to do with the strikes?

So many questions!! So many possibilities! I suspected some answers, but Grandinetti successfully includes a lot of twists and turns until more than Miles and Lily were unsure.

I love to highlight a notable secondary character. Gio is so awesome. He has Miles’s back, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The special way Gio prays for Lily is just amazing and it teaches Miles how to pray effectively for a loved one at the same time. Maybe Gio will get his own book soon.

So many Notable Quotables..

“Whom should he fear more … the men who would kill them or the woman who tested the fortifications of his heart?”

“…the simple change of clothes caused him to go from intense protector to confident friend.”

“She would have hope for both of them until there was no hope left to be had.”

I received this book from the author. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

This was such an interesting read!
It starts out with a crazy adrenaline rush and than keeps it up.
I love how Lily evolves over the story! She turns into a very confident woman. Her dogs are her life and they are some of my favorites in the book.
Miles is such an mystery to be unraveled. He is so strong and a great shot. He has a warrior's heart and is determined to protect Lily at all costs.
Joey is such a hard headed guy, I am glad I was able to read the prequel first otherwise I might never like him.
I loved that this book was set in the Midwest. Not many books I read are set in the Midwest so it is fun change of pace. I guess I had never learned or don't remember learning about milk strikes. But it was very fascinating. I come from family that has dairy farmers in their history...so I understand.
I highly recommend this book. I would say read the prequel first because it does set up everything that happens in this book very nicely.

Romance and faith go hand in hand with action and suspense in Danielle Grandinetti's riveting debut. Set in 1933, against the backdrop of the Wisconsin dairy strikes, A Strike to the Heart is also a story of family, dedication, and resilience.

As Miles works to protect Lily from unknown threats, the plots around them thicken and the danger never lets up. Lily's practicality and deeply rooted independence and Miles' resolute but gentle nature make for a dynamic pairing. This well-researched story and setting comes to life around them, and along with Lily's policeman brother Joey (from the novella To Stand in the Breach) and Miles' friend, retired Marine scout Gio (featuring in the upcoming novella As Silent as the Night), these are characters to root for.

From start to finish, the tensions are palpable in this high-adrenaline historical Romantic Suspense story. I did not want to put it down as Lily and Miles grew closer, revealing the past hurts that made them who they are, while discovering the truth behind the ever present danger they are in.

Highly recommended.

What a wonderful romantic page-tuner, and engaging historical fiction!! A Strike to the Heart by author Danielle Grandinetti starts out with a dangerous rescue mission and the suspense doesn't stop until the last page.

Author Danielle Grandinetti did her research and her writing skills put you right in the middle of this captivating story. Taking place in Wisconsin in 1933 during the dairy strikes, it was interesting to learn about this time period as well as some of the kidnapping laws recently put into place, all told in the form of a compelling story!

Lily Moore is a fiercely independent dog trainer who has her own property and business. Retired marine, and Craft Agency sniper Miles Wright is determined to protect her. A really sweet romance develops almost despite these two strong characters fighting against it. "Who should he fear more... The men who would kill them or the woman who tested the fortifications of his heart?"

I highly recommend A Strick to the Heart for lovers of historical fiction, romance, and suspense.

In her debut novel, Danielle Grandinetti opens with action and intrigue and questions that don’t stop until the end of A Strike to the Heart.

Lily is a strong, independent woman in the 1930s and because of her choice to work instead of marry, she’s often the subject of gossip around town. Miles is focused, well-trained, and protective but underneath that warrior’s exterior lies a tender heart.

I immediately liked Lily and Miles together. Even though they both have strong personalities, they quickly grow to admire the other. And though this novel takes place over a short period of time, the romance follows a believable and natural progression.

Grandinetti gives readers some history of Wisconsin (dairy strikes, hunting dogs, and more) in an engaging way that kept me turning pages until the mysteries were solved and everyone is safe. I look forward to seeing what this author writes next.

Engaging from the beginning, it definitely kept me guessing as the story progressed.

Lily Moore likes her life, living alone and training dogs. She doesn't mind that her life is untraditional by the standards of others, and I liked her independent spirit. After the events that initially bring them together Miles is determined to help protect Lily and bring those responsible to justice. Set against the backdrop of milk strikes during the Great Depression, I liked that it brings back characters from the prequel, showing a different side of Joey.

A historical suspense, with a twisting plot, intriguing characters, and a plot that kept me guessing at the motives. I enjoyed the drama of the historical setting. Miles is a gentleman through and through, I liked how he takes care of Lily, while being mindful of propriety and respecting her opinions. A fast paced read with a strong heroine, faith, mystery, and romance.

Author Note

I love history and thoroughly enjoyed including those details into A Strike to the Heart. For example, the 1933 Wisconsin Dairy strikes really happened, and were as dangerous as I portray. At the end of the book, I share a few more of the real life historical details I included. I hope you enjoy the story!

A Strike to the Heart
Strike to the Heart #1
By Danielle Grandinetti

Lily Moore isn't like most young women, she insists on living on her, trains hunting dogs, and is (gasp) unmarried. In 1933, Eagle, Wisconsin, Lily and her twin brother Joey, are considered troublesome, doing things their way and not falling into the expected mold.

But when Lily goes missing, the Craft Agency is tasked with finding her. But things go very wrong before Lily's rescue is carried out by Miles Wright. As Miles attempts to keep Lily safe he is faced with his own challenges, including the traitorous leanings of his heart where Lily is concerned.

With a third dairy strike becoming more likely each day, Lily and Miles face greater danger. But where the danger is coming from remains as elusive as does the reason why.

A Strike to the Heart is the first book in the Strike to the Heart series and is the second work in the series - the first being To Stand in the Breach, which is the series prequel novella. Where the novella focused on Joey Moore and Katy Wells, this book focuses on Lily and Miles. Joey and Katy are in this book as supporting characters, or in Joey's case, an antagonist. I find the whole dairy situation interesting - the Depression is still having an effect on the country and farmers have been hit hard - do you strike to demand better compensation and dump what milk you have getting no compensation or do you sell what you have for a mere pittance and stay trapped in the cycle? This is the situation that sets the entire story in motion and it is a dilemma that I can honestly say would be hard to weigh in on.

I have to say I really like this series. The characters are relatable and I have to say I really like Lily and can understand why she has taken the path she has. Lily is misunderstood and it's sad that her family is so clueless about her and what makes her who she is.

Fans of Depression Era Historical Fiction will love this book. If you want to travel the country through books and make a stop in each state here is your Wisconsin destination. This would also be a great book club reading selection, in my opinion.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

A Strike to the Heart is such a wonderfully penned novel. Not only does Grandinetti make you feel like you are in Wisconsin in the 1930s, she makes you want to learn even more about it. The attention to detail in the research behind every page of this novel was evident and really enhanced the reading experience. Authors that take their time to really research what they are writing about absolutely amaze me. I knew pretty much nothing about this Wisconsin prior to reading this. And now? Well I want even more! I cannot wait to see how this series progresses.

This novel has everything I want. Well developed, yet flawed characters. A great setting. Twists and turns I didn't see coming. And of course romance. The relationship between Lily and Miles was so sweet. It was fast, and yet at the same time had such natural progression. Grandinetti did a beautiful job in weaving their story, while keeping readers on the edge of their seats with all the suspenseful plot points.

Like I already said, I cannot wait to see how Grandinetti continues this series. I can't wait to meet new characters and be swept away by her lovely writing style. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Strike to the Heart is the first full length story in the Strike to the Heart Series. There is a novella before this book but they can be read as standalone books. This one starts out with all the action - and does not let up throughout the book.
Based in the 1930's there is a lot going on historically in the book. The author did a great job bringing real life into her story. Lily has been kidnapped. Miles and his team are set to retrieve her. However, things go awry and Miles finds himself alone with Lily. She does not know who kidnapped her or what they want. Lily prefers to train dogs then to settle down and get married, and during this time period this is unheard of. Miles has a big heart but has a bunch of walls built up around it.
It was fun to watch the layers get peeled back on our characters. Lilly has to find out who she can trust - and Miles who thought he would never let someone get into his heart has to learn that. Both of our characters faith wavers through the story - the author did a great job writing in the theme of trusting God. Lily is not sure who she can trust - even if they are family.
The book is well written, it is a unique story line. The action is present throughout the book. I cannot wait until the next story in the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

A Strike to the Heart is an intense historical suspense novel that leaps into action from the very beginning when a rescue mission goes terribly wrong and Miles Wright loses several of his team members. To make things even more difficult, the woman he managed to rescue despite the odds is exceptionally stubborn and uncooperative. How in the world will he manage to keep her safe?

Set during the early 1930s in Wisconsin dairy country, this book weaves a twisted path through its well developed plot and raises multiple questions along the way. Multiple characters make it hard to determine just who Miles and Lily can trust, especially when they are unsure why she has been targeted. Even family members are suspect!

I enjoyed learning more about the dairy wars as I attempted to help Miles and Lily solve the case. I truly became that absorbed in the tale.

I would highly recommend A Strike to the Heart to all who love both historical and suspense novels. It is worth your time. I look forward to more novels by this new-to-me author.

Lily Moore is a strong, accomplished young woman. In fact, when her grandfather passed, he willed her his farm adjacent to her parents' farm. Lily's business is training dogs, and she's quite skilled at her profession. The only problem? It's 1933, and in her small dairy-farming community, marriage is the only acceptable profession for a young woman. Lily faces constant pressure from those in her family and her town, to marry. But now, she has another problem.

Lily has just been kidnapped. And she can't possibly imagine why; or, how she is going to escape.

Former Marine sniper Miles Wright and his teammates from the Craft Agency have been hired to find Lily. But the rescue doesn't go quite as planned, and the losses (not to mention the gunfire) are unimaginable. Miles and Lily are able to get away.

But the question remains: who would kidnap Lily, and why?

Danielle Grandinetti's wonderful clean romantic thriller is a joy to read. Lily and Miles are characters the reader can easily root for. And the mystery is...well, mysterious. My attention was completely wrapped up in this story, and I can happily recommend it to you!

Rescuing Lily Moore from kidnappers didn’t go the way that ex-sniper and team member of the Elite Company, Miles Wright, had envisioned. It certainly was not what I thought would happen! With such great details to this part of the story I found my heart racing as bullets were whizzing past me as I ran along with Lily and Miles.

I love a good mystery. Trying to figure out the reason for Lily’s kidnapping and subsequent attempts on her and Miles’ lives not only made this intriguing, but also added to the suspense of the story. With details being revealed throughout the story I found myself experiencing a gamut of emotions. Sometimes I felt smart because I figured out a part of the story, and other times I was perplexed because I didn’t see some things coming. But, isn’t that what you want from a book?

I liked Miles’s strong sense of protectiveness for Lily. His strength and growing love for her made me know she was in good hands. He was the right man to see to her safety and still honor her need for independence and running her business.

I thoroughly enjoyed Gio, Miles’s friend who had his back when he needed support and guidance. His unwavering faith helped Miles when he needed it most.

I recommend reading this book if you like historical or romance novels with a strong faith message. Thank you to the author and publisher for an electronic copy of the book. All opinions are my own and a positive review was not required.

Historical Fiction has become one of my Top 3 Genres to read. A Strike to the Heart by Danielle Grandinetti is one that I recently had the honor to read.

We are taken back to Wisconsin in 1933 for the setting and time of the book. Dairy Farms are on Strike and it is a trying time right now.
Craft Agency sniper Miles Wright is determined to find out who is responible for the deaths of his team. He also wants to make sure the woman he rescused, Lily Moore , is kept safe. Lily Moore left her Family Dairy Farm as she had desires to be a Dog Trainer. Miles Wright discovers Lily is still in danger and the hunt is on for her abductor. Miles realizes he is starting to have feelings for Lily. As the Milk Strike continues and looks to be getting Violent, Lily must choose between her family and Miles for Safety. What choice does Lily make? Will there be a romance between Miles and Lily?

I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end. The Author really did her research and I felt that I learned some new History and was back in the time period of 1933. Lily is a very determined woman who likes her Independence and enjoys her life away from family. Miles Wright is a man of honor who takes an interest in not only helping Lily be safe, but keep her safe. The storyline was so intriguing I finished the book in one sitting! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Ficton with Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!

This was a very entertaining Historical Romantic Suspense. I found myself not wanting to put this book down. It was filled with suspense from the very first page. The story of Miles and Lily was very exciting. The reader is constantly on edge because of all the danger to these two. They were instantly attracted to one another, but in 1934 it was a much more formal time. Single men and women had to be careful not to ruin their reputations by being together without a chaperone. Between the real danger of being shot and killed and the town gossiping about them, Miles and Lily were under so much stress!

I really enjoyed the book and found it to be an easy read. The characters were so interesting and there was a great deal of mystery as to who could be trusted. The main characters prayed a lot to God for protection and safety. This was a time of hardship in the US and this historical fiction was developed around real history.

A Strike to the Heart by Danielle Grandinetti takes place in 1933 in Wisconsin. Lily is kidnapped and Craft Agency is asked to find her. Miles and his team of snipers are sent in to get her but things go wrong and his team is killed leaving him to rescue her alone. Once she returns home, bad things continue to happen and they don’t know who is behind them and why and even doubt who they can trust.

I enjoyed the well written story that is filled with suspense and mystery with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the parts of the story that dealt with the dairy farmer’s struggles. With the issues that caused the dumping of milk. I also enjoyed Lily’s strength with living the life she wanted even if it wasn’t what her family wanted for her. The relationship between her and her twin brother is so realistic.

I have enjoyed some of the author's previous stories, so I was thrilled to have a chance to read this one! I enjoyed the history that the story is immersed in, since I hadn't read about the dairy strikes during the Depression. I also found Miles job and the set up of it to be interesting.

Miles is tasked with finding a young woman who has been kidnapped, a mission that should be fairly cut and dry. When things go south right before finding Lily, he realizes that things may not be as easy as he originally assumed. As he and Lily join forces to uncover who is behind the violence and kidnapping, they discover some interesting clues along the way, both in regards to the mystery and in how well they work together. I liked that Lily is a strong character and how she and Miles come together to figure out what is going on. This is a wonderful story to pick up and enjoy!

When Lily Moore, an independent young lady, is kidnapped, hired ex-marine Miles Wright is sent in with his team to rescue her. When his team is killed on the mission, Lily and Miles determine that this goes deeper than originally thought. They team up together to put together the pieces, all while battling family tension, more attempts on their lives, and their growing fondness for one another. Who is out to get Lily? Why? And what is the cost of finding the truth?

This book instantly caught my attention with it's action packed opening. (Let's not forget my initial attraction was that beautiful cover!) It kept my attention throughout with it's believable suspense, humor, and budding romance. The fierceness of Lily's character and the gentleness of Miles were perfectly balanced with one another. Lily may be small, but she is strong. Miles may be big, but he is gentle. The sweet romance between the two was enjoyable and heart-warming. I love a clean romance! I also appreciated the strong family bonds within the story that brought smiles to my face. By the end, you are rooting for the Moore family and really wanting to find out who is behind it all. Most importantly, the theme of trusting in the Lord in the midst of our trials was evident in this novel. During uncertain times, He is certainly a rock in which we can fully trust.

"But it was a new day. A crisp October day. The type of day where the weather would remind her of God's promise to restore her soul and lead her in His path, just as Grandfather had reminded her so many times as she walked with him in fields full of abundance. Perhaps there was a mercy in Grandfather not being alive to see the financial depression that held everyone captive. She would not lose her land because Grandfather had owned it outright when he'd willed it to her, but she knew her father had taxed every last line of credit to update the farm with electricity, plumbing, and equipment. If milk prices didn't rise, what would it cost him?"

The setting for this book is a Wisconsin dairy farm in 1933. Although historical fiction, the book is based on fact of strikes that really did happen during the Great Depression. This is a part of local history that I have not seen highlighted before, so it made for fascinating read. To understand even more of the historical research, I recommend that you read the author's notes at the end of the book.

I did read the introductory novella first (To Stand in the Breach), and I am glad that I did because there was one character in particular that I would not have liked at all in "A Strike to the Heart" if I had not "met" him first in the novella. That book also contained elements of mystery and a bit of unpredictable circumstances. Definitely an enjoyable read, but not a book that made me feel tense due to its unpredictability.

But this novel took suspense to a whole new level. From the opening page, I felt uneasy (in the very best way) as I could not figure out what exactly was going on. Even as the novel progressed, and I determined some of the guilty parties, there was still so much that kept me guessing. I truly could not tell if this one was going to end in a positive or tragic way. You will have to read the book to find out which way the story went.

While both of the main characters faltered a bit in their faith (for different reasons), they both reached out to God for protection. Prayers for wisdom happened often. Personally, I appreciated that clear approach.

Family and friendship are also important themes. Trust is another one. And while not a theme, another important part of this book is the dog training that is done on the farm. A great read for those who appreciate "working" animals that play an important role in the book.

The heroine is a strong, independent woman. While she does learn to depend on others, her determination is not downplayed. While there is a bit of romance in this one, but bot the hero and heroine rely on each other. She is not helpless, and as a female, I appreciate how she is portrayed. I really enjoyed this book, and I definitely plan on reading the next novella that will come out later this year.

It all starts with a bang…literally. Then a chance meeting that is just as explosive. It’s crazy to meet someone in such a stressful situation, but then to develop feelings so soon after is what would keep anyone on the hook. Are these feelings real or are they due to adrenaline-fueled emotions that are running high due to their trying plight? And what could possibly happen next?
Miles and Lily are falling hard and falling fast, the chemistry electrifying between them no matter if they’re running from stray bullets from elusive bad guys, or just talking to one another. The deep connection that is being built is undeniable, and mesmerizing to witness.. The whole novel is all a game of cat and mouse, the story keeping your head spinning, neither the characters nor the readers knowing who can be trusted, and man what a ride!

Lily is a strong, independent heroine that I immensely admired, especially considering the fact that she possessed these attributes during the 1930’s, a time when very few women pushed against the tide. Lily and Miles together strengthened one another, and I adored that. Miles is one of those men that has a rougher exterior masking a compassionate spirit, and Lily helps bring out that softer side. I was delighted to see these two together! They are strong separately but all the stronger together.

The author does a wonderful job of creating a world that not only excites but informes, telling historical Wisconsin tidbits, like details surrounding the dairy strikes, which is utterly fascinating. I have loved this series so far and look forward to seeing where this series takes us next!

When a rescue mission goes bad and his company perishes, Miles Wright pushes on to do the one thing there is left to do: protect Lily Moore at all costs.

The beginning of this book hooked me immediately. I could feel the tension, the fear, the grief. Immediately, my heart connected to Miles. I wanted him to catch the bad guys, win the girl, and ride into the sunset. He is the epitome of a hero. Strong, fierce, kind, and entirely aware of the capabilities of the damsel in distress during the story. Instead of underestimating Lily, he places confidence in her and that is a rare thing to see in most love stories. I appreciated the man giving the lady room to do her thing.

Do her thing, Lily does! Despite familial and societal expectations, Lily Moore follows her own heart and builds a business during a time such things were frowned upon for women. She lives her life by her own rules and thrives. I loved her can do attitude!

The twisty plot kept me guessing and turning pages as much as the blossoming romance did. The secondary characters, Lily’s brother and Gio, especially, deepened the story, too! I adore family love—and drama—and this mystery had that in spades. Plus, the Fatherly love shines through from beginning to end.

I highly recommend this story for fans of Christian romance and historical fiction. You won’t be disappointed! I can’t wait for the next story from Danielle Grandinetti!

A Strike to the Heart is an historical book by Danielle Grandinetti. Lily Moore has been kidnapped. No one knows why or who has done it. Miles Wright is an ex-Marine who works for Craft Agency as a sniper with his team. They’ve been hired to find and rescue Lily, but it’s an ambush. This is the explosive start of A Strike to the Heart. It’s a love story, whodunnit, faith inspired, and historical textbook all in one. A page-turner that you can’t put down for so many reasons. I loved learning about the milk strikes in Wisconsin during the Great Depression. It was such an interesting piece of American history. I loved the mystery of why Lily was kidnapped and who was behind it. I loved the faith aspect where Lily and Miles each had to rely on faith to see them through to the end. I definitely loved the love story of these two. She was so independent and stubborn yet he hadn’t seen anything quite like her. I hope you will take a chance and read this book. It was simply wonderful. I can’t wait to read what Danielle Grandinetti writes next!

First, this title is so clever!!! (It also had be singing a Bon Jovi song each time I picked up the book. Not the same but close enough.)

The time period this book is set in is not one that I’m super familiar with, nor are many books set in the 1930s. At least that I’ve found. While I’m very familiar with ex-military action suspense books, it seems strange somehow in this book. Not bad storage, just an odd mixture. That being said, I enjoyed this book and thought it was superbly done.

The mystery was excellent. I sort of suspected parts but there was a lot of twists that caught me by surprise.

I liked Lily and Miles as characters. I didn’t really like Joey in this book, which made me sad because he was so good in the prequel. He just seemed so different, and not in a good way. Katy made a brief appearance and I love how Danielle wrote the accent out. I love Irish accents.

Gio is awesome and I’m quite looking forward to his little story.

This is a neat series and the dairy strike as the backdrop is very interesting.

With an explosive beginning, A Strike to the Heart drew me in immediately. The tension had me glued to the page as the story unfolded. Grandinetti knows how to write suspense.

Miles proves to be an incredible lead with his strong sense of duty and determination. Lily holds her own, providing a relatable heroine with a balance of strength and sensitivity. They balance each other well throughout the story, strong when the other is vulnerable, which provides an enjoyable romance.

The spiritual arc is a bit subtle, but there are threads of it throughout the book as the characters learn to rely more on God.

Overall, A Strike to the Heart is an exceptional tale that historical romance and suspense fans alike will enjoy.

A Strike to the Heart by Danielle Grandinetti is a captivating story about a young, resourceful, intelligent, and fiercely independent woman who is determined to live and work on the farmland her grandfather left to her. Through no fault of her own, and while she is attempting to enjoy an evening out with friends, she is kidnapped and taken to a remote place, where a team of former marines are dispatched to rescue her. The story takes multiple twists and turns, provides intrigue, and holds the reader's attention so strongly that it is difficult to put the book down. Each short chapter leads directly into the next one and provides a mystery to solve and a love story to follow.

This book was received as an advanced copy and the review above is my honest opinion.

I really liked learning about the history included in this story. I didn't know farmers dumped their milk in the street to protest the low prices from dairy plants. And the parts about hunting and dog training were interesting. I did think the writing was a bit stiff in places, and characters behaved a bit oddly (Lily was not curious enough about who had hired Miles, Joey should have trusted Miles faster, etc.). But the pace was great, and it did keep my attention really well. The romance was a bit too underdeveloped though. It made sense for Lily to fall in love with her rescuer, but Miles's love should have been more gradual. Still, I had fun reading it, and it was nice to have the excitement of the mystery along with some history.

A Strike to the Heart is a compelling story. From the very first page, I was immersed in the thrilling action and remained gripped with intrigue until the satisfying ending. The romance escalated right along with the winding plot, creating a layered mystery that is sure to delight readers. A solid debut for author Danielle Grandinetti.
