Zaczęłam ten tom i o nim zapomniałam. Improvment towards first one, ale ogólnie czytanie isekaiów dla dobrej fabuły jest jak picie kawy i oczekiwanie czystszej cery or smth. Simply comfort read and that's all.
Why do I find myself liking this more than the original story??? –I'm so glad you asked!
1). I've read the LN and have watched the anime a couple of times now, so experiencing the same story in a different way brings in a breath of fresh air. Obviously it still follows the same plot as the original, but I feel like this particular rendition highlights even more of the aspects of this story that I love.
2.) NEW CHARACTERS! I love Sienna. I wish we get to see her in the original version too, in one way or another.
3.) I like how Katarina's relationships with the others are more nuanced and a bit more realistic here. Because in the original, i feel like some of the affection/attraction that Katarina's friends/love interests have for her are a little too over the top sometimes, which could come off as an exaggeration.
4.) Katarina's redepmption arc! I love Katarina before, and after reading this, I love her even more!
I thought it would take some getting used to for me to like her character in this side story because of how the timing was changed, but what happened was the complete opposite. To me, this story has shown a different angle of her character. It kind of uncovers a perspective into why Katarina's character was as it was from before. It addresses the wrong doings that she has done in the past and what caused her to act in such a way. There is some sort of self reflection that we see from her in this. She also tries to right her wrongs to everyone that she has wronged, in more ways than one.
To me, seeing her redemption and her growth into being the character that we originally know and love seemed much more natural and authentic (albeit being the only reason for her sudden change in persona was because of her remembering her past life, it was still nice to see).
5.) A BONUS ☆☆☆: THERE ARE SPECIAL CHAPTERS!
- The first chapter was about Keith finding out about Katarina's field hobby (lol); - AND THE SECOND ONE IS JEORD GETTING JELLY!! I may be biased because I kind of want to Katarina to end up with him, but yes, I love'd that extra bit.
♡ Basically, if you also like the original story from the light novels, manga, or the anime, you should definitely read this one too. It's a definite fun read. Plus, there are only 3 volumes of this side story, so it's gonna be a quick one too.
If you're new and confused on what media to consume first, and just happened to come upon my review, i suggest watching the anime first. And if you want to continue from where it left off, go and read the manga or the light novels to keep up with the current events of the story. AND DON'T FORGET TO READ THIS SIDE STORY! ♡
Continued to really enjoy this series, there's so much charm in any media Katarina is in and this volume focuses on building some relationships which I really liked to see. While the romantic side of Katarina's relationship to Keith makes me incredibly uncomfortable, I did like seeing how Katarina handled her apology and trying to make their household into a family. Also loved seeing Sophia, I forgot about the gay romance novel haha, it's one of my favourite meet-cutes. I would say the second half of the volume focuses more on stuff we've kind of already seen from the original, but that's not to say it isn't just as sweet and fun to read again. Looking forward to the last volume, and if it's heading into the scene that I think it is, it'll be a lot more dramatic and a better payoff than the original did (because in the original it wasn't meant to be a climax, to be fair.)
Even though this is a side story...the quality is high as is the story telling. I in some respects like certain aspects of this over the regular series...but to me as a completionist, it makes sense to read these because you don't want content out there you just overlook. This picks right up where the previous "Side Story" book left off with Katarina learning some self-defense. The story is lighthearted in most areas but still does have some serious and heavy things brought up. The story by Satoru Yamaguchi continues to be entertaining and art was beautifully rendered by Nami Hidaka. You'll enjoy it if you're into the series. Just be careful as you pick up books because the covers are not distinctive enough and you might be starting at the wrong spot.
I wasn't too sure about this series because it fell in love so much with the original, but this one really shows that it's worth the read to give more depth to the characters. I liked that this actually showed more about her parents, and why in the original Katarina's mom was so sure Keith was an illegitimate child and not just adopted as you get to see the process of them working things out. Even how Katarina had talked about taking sword lessons but now we get to see them. It's like we get to fill in the blanks, and enjoy the new characters along the way.
Katarina's spontaneous 180° flip in personality has caught peoples' attention. Namely her fiance Prince Jeord. But in this volume, it gets extended to her adopted brother Keith, Nicol and Sophia Ascart, and even Maria.
Somehow, the new Katarina is mowing down Doom flags left and right... but is also possibly creating some new ones. I'm curious to see how this ends.
I love this so much. This series just makes my heart swell. Gives me major happy vibes! Excited to read the next!! If you watched the anime, please take time to read this. It is different, and I absolutely love both.
tell my why this side story managed to give more development to the girls then the anthology specifically devoted to them? on the verge of doom is truly the superior spinoff!
