Dark Memories Emerge

Rate this book
The more clues emerge about Geraldine's past, the more questions arise.

Did she have a twin sister who drowned?

Who is the mysterious benefactor in her hazy recollections?

Did he have anything to do with her becoming immortal?

Thankfully, she doesn't have to find the answers alone.

Cassandra and Onegus are there for her, and so is Shai, the immortal who sets her body on fire.

As they work together to solve the mystery, the four of them stumble upon a millennia-old secret that could tip the balance of power between the clan and its enemies.

Skimming isn't reading

This is a popular series with many fans, but I am of the mind that this author has spread herself too thin. Because her series is dramatic and dynamic readers don't note that she creates dozens of threads, but only ties those of the main characters. What happened with Ananni's sister and Wonder's sister? Or the expansion of the village including the restaurant. There has been enough construction that a lot could have been added. Eleanor should either be considered an asset and be allowed her HEA or she should be cut loose. She's not an endearing enough of a character to maintain.
Lokan and Carol off in China because Navuh says so. Then Kian sends his contingent to learn about the Kra-ell just to drop that thread as if it didn't take up real estate in this book.
Ms. Lucas, please just tell the stories one at a time , not because we can't handle the multiple plot lines but because each book should have a beginning, middle and end/cliffhanger. You often have cliffhangers and dropped threads.
In this book you have a semi-cliffhanger, a thread with no where to go and a maybe-I'll-come-back-to-this-plot point - maybe-I-won't.
I'm not sure I care if I learn Geraldine's origins.

🌟🌟🌟🌟

The book count for this series may seem daunting since this is the 54th book, thankfully the way IT Lucas organizes the series is by having  the books are set in 3-4 books in a mini-series that revolves around a main couple. There are often side characters & couples that you will see develop along side the main couple. The series does have an overarching storyline that continues through all the books so it is best to read them in order. These books are also told from the POV of multiple individuals, even many of the side characters or members of previous highlighted coupled. Each chapter clearly identifies who is telling their story so it is easy to follow.

This is the second book for Geraldine & Shia. We get some answers about Geraldine’s hidden past, but I have so many questions still & I really cannot see where Geraldine’s story will go. I definitely can’t wait for the next book!

Dark Memories Emerge KU 325 pgs **** 10/16/21 Geraldine & Shai

4 stars. Geraldine and Shai’s story is quite boring to me, I just can’t get into their relationship like the others, they are together but not sure if they have are are bonding or not. The only interesting part with them is trying to figure out why her memory is so bad and that was fascinating! I was glued to the last half of the book when Annani stepped in. But of course, the book ended before I could find out more and left me wishing I had waited to read this book until the next one was already out! Kian’s search for the Kra-ell continued and problems arose with the government dormant program. Ronja started thinking about transitioning after Annani made the suggestion, of course not mentioning that she would give her “a blessing” to pull her through. Roni’s clan family finally got to meet his parents. His father was a cold man and the group instantly felt something was off with him. Eleanor was asked by Kian to consider going back to the Government Dormant Program as the Director. Lots of discussion went on about this venture and her main concern was that Emmett would gain the women in the village’s charms and she would lose him since they haven’t bonded yet. It was a little exciting when Jin, Mey and others went to the old place, the last known Kra-ell place that Emmett remembered, now a fancy school, to see if Jin could read anything from the old walls that hadn’t been destroyed

I have been patiently waiting to delve farther into Geraldine's memories! Book 54 gives us tidbits here and there throughout the book, then WHAM throws a lovely curve ball at the end. Now we have to wait until the next book to see how it all resolves! I can't wait to see where this goes and how this steers the rest of the overall story.

Book 54 is not just Geraldine and Shai trying to figure out her past though. We get to visit follow the team to China. It has been so long since we have gotten to see some of those characters from the first half of the series. Mey is able to help find some things, but I am really unable to figure out where it will take us. Hoping the next few books dive deeper into the China/Kra-ell link or provide closure. I am torn as to which route I would like this to take as I am no where closer to figuring out a possible end game to this entire saga than I was 20 books ago. LOL Yet, I am still as enthralled and excited for each book's release. Looking forward to seeing how far this story line will take us!

I was grateful I was able to read an advanced copy of this story, however, I choose to leave my honest opinions.

Drawn out again

This one had information that should have come about in the last book, like the possibility of Geraldine being compelled or repeated thralled since immortals shouldn’t suffer headaches… but no one seemed to notice that, not even the doctors she met had headaches in front of.

Progress in China is slow, and again, dots that should have connected did not. As soon as Mey confirmed that the Kra-ell had been at the school the first night of investigation, Mr. Wu should have been suspected of being Kra-ell or linked to them since the principal said that he was the founder of the school and he was the end all be all of who was allowed to enroll. And since that seems to be the case and they plan on seeking an audience with him and after Mey seeing someone compel or thrall a large number of people, I hope they have their earpieces and that Yamanu s strong enough to counter thrall or something. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Anyway, looking forward to more about the mysterious and powerful immortal or god from Geraldine’s past. See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!

I feel like I skipped a book. Emmett was apparently released from his cell two week prior and is currently having a round table discussion with his "disciples" including an unknown person named Marla. As soon a Kian said he would considered allowing Emmett to join the clan if the information on his people checked out, I thought he had lost his mind. Emmett is conniving, manipulative, and untrustworthy. Kian has suddenly gone soft and it does not fit his personality first the first 50 books or so.

Geraldine is too meek in terms of understanding her memory loss. The need to take so much time to consider and process theories and options to help her regain her past and move forward is stupid. Talk to Vanessa and allow Kalugal to undo someone else's potential compulsion; these are good things. Shai is much more patient with her than I would be, although I am still struggling to find their chemistry.

Theory: Kalugal is Mr. Wu. Since he had shrouded himself in the past as a Chinese businessman and the clan is unaware of his business dealings, his alias could be Mr. Wu with his hands in several cookie jars.

Dark Memories Emerge, book 54 of I.T. Lucas series The Children of the Gods is the newest in a very in-depth series. With each new book the series storyline grows. The characters become deeper and you'll want go more about them, their past, their present and their possible future. I wish that Geraldene's story bad progressed more in this book. It seems go be taking forever for her truth come out. I love this series it's just sometimes I feel like there not enough progress made in each book. While in aware that each book ends with more story to come, it just seems that we really aren't getting anywhere lately. In sure Mrs Lucas has a plan but 54 books in isn't the place go slow down the storyline. Unfortunately, this is how you can loose long time readers as can be seen in some of the reviews. I'm hooked and really want go know what is next but things really need to move along to keep people hooked.

Back again but I want more cake!

Some things were quite obvious to me and the fact that it took the characters to recognize it was a little frustrating. But I love how we get glimpses into other people story. I think Silvia is about to run into her baby daddy. I like the hint that others may have survived. I also thin Peter may be the one for Eleanor but she's not emotionally ready that's why she don't feel the bond same with the Main character in this install ment. I'm excited for our resident seer to actually embrace her gift. There's so much more and many more paths she can take while writing this but I'm tired of the little crumbs we are getting I want a big piece of cake!

Geraldine and Shai; !!!SPOILERS !!! Alert 🚨

I’m loving the progression the story is taking. I for one never thought that there was only 2 goddesses and no gods. We all know from the first 2 books that several caravans were sucked into the sand as the bombs shockwaves were felt throughout the land. What about other parts of the world?? Can you really honestly say zero gods/goddesses were not somewhere else on the planet, so, then logically thinking they survived. Well, we would then have small pockets of immortals scattered throughout the world.
I’m excited for more of Ronja’s and Merlins story. I can’t wait for her transition. Yep, I’m on the - she’ll risk it side. Keep em coming!!

Geraldine & Shai's story Pt2, Bk54

As the romance heats up between Geraldine n Shai her fuggled mind feels like a hindrance to her every time she tries to think about the past or her "accident" she gets a pounding headache
(Didn't something similar happen to another immortal like that but I've read the previous 54books & my minds a bit fuggled to now lol)
Not that I'm not loving the storylines
I love the characters the overlapping storys, the continued storylines the side stories and all of them in between. Can't wait to see what happens next now that Annani has give Geraldines memories a little push in the right direction so she can uncover them so she can move on and not let them hold her back anymore, (hopefully with Shai🙏😁)

I am dizzy

This one had SO much going on. Cassandra and Onegus, their whole thing got real instantaneously! Geraldine turned out to be much more complicated than she started out like. Shai is madly in love with her and is getting a bit obsessed, not a good look, and Annani saves the day again by identifying the mystery man in Geraldines past.
While all this is going on, the team searching out the Kra El are coming up with very little and nothing very good. We find out that Kalugel is a busybody and major gossip and that seems kind of funny. This book was great!

Remarkable & Outstanding

I think I.T. Lucas must be one of the most interesting and imaginative authors of all time. The unexpected twists and turns, the level of mystery, intrigue, adventure, action and romance is truly an all consuming experience. And to have written so many books in one series is truly an incredible, if not astonishing accomplishment. I really love these characters, so much so that they feel like people I actually know! Thank you Lucas for sharing your gifts with the world 💚

Marathon reading worthy

I have been reading this series over the years and when I retired I decided to reread the 1st few books to refresh my memory on some of the characters. I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOKS DOWN. I.T. Lucas I love this series. Excellent character developed, story line, keeps me wanting more and enjoying every book. This book is a game changer opening up the possible storylines to so many different directions. ❤️

Intriguing

Geraldine has lived her life with her daughter with a poor memory and blank spots in what her life was like before.
Since getting into a relationship with Shai they’ve been interested in the mystery that is her life and this book is part of unraveling that.
Other story lines intruded, in my opinion. I would have preferred this book only deal with Geraldine, Cassandra and the men they love.

I can't wait for the next one!

This series gets better with every book! I so hope that finding a new potential lineage of the gods gets us closer to the reincarnation of Kihann! I want to see Kihann finally lead his clan and I want Kian to have more time with Syssi and Allegra, not to mention Annani and her childrens' interactions with the father they've never met! I am so thoroughly invested in this world!!!!

The Mystery is Unfolding

Geraldine may finally have a chance to unravel the hidden memories that have been missing from her all these years. Can that knowledge, which includes a husband, a daughter, and a possible immortal lover come between her and her “fated mate?” I hope something gives for this woman because frankly it irritates me! The whole situation from the way her daughter treats her like she’s a baby which is the furthest thing from the truth.

Shai and Geraldine

Still we wait to figure out the mystery with Geraldine, well at least we know her real name the life she had with ronis mum before the accident but there is still questions she was already immortal before Orion meet her, her first child said so,so maybe she did have a secret from her husband. But not cheating.

I think she is a daughter of a god.but time will tell is Orion her brother?

Getting Down to Business

Family business, family drama. Geraldine knows the father of Cassandra and that's all the better! The last sometimes dictates the future good or bad, sadly.
This book takes readers through the past memories that are buried deep in Geraldine's mind that were enjoyable to read to get to the truth. I took one star away because it has taken three books to get to this point. I'm all for adventures, but not a long one...LOL.

Love the world of the immortals

Each book in The Children of the Gods series has been better then last. The first one that ended in a cliffhanger was disappointing, but kept me coming back now it gives me a much needed rest since I can't stop reading once I start. I'm still amazed at the length of the series and fact that it's still so exciting I can't put it down

I couldn’t read FAST enough! I couldn’t SLOW DOWN!!

It was THAT GOOD! Lots and lots of fabulous storytelling but with so much detail Ms. Lucas manages to write with amazing
clarity. For the reader, that makes it a page turner. This is absolutely a magical series and I love it.

Following the series

I’ve been following the series since book 1 and have enjoyed it. However, the Kra-ell story arc is moving way too slow and is not as interesting as other story arcs within the series. This book was probably my least favorite in the series. I believe some arcs just need to be wrapped up quicker…

This book is so good, and we finally get some answers on Geraldine’s past. Yet, it opens up more questions- who else survived??? Is Annani’s husband in stasis?? I think Jacki and Syssi are the keys to unlocking some of these mysteries. This is by far, my favorite series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Best series!

Truly the best series I have ever read! If you love to read, like adult romance and sci-fi, I recommend starting this series when you have time to binge read because you cannot put any of these books down!! Out of 54 books, I can honestly say there was only one book that was not as satisfying, but still a good read.

Great Read

The suspense is killing me. Who is Orion and is he related to Tovan? Will there be a bond between Shai and Geraldine? Even though they are in love with each other, have they bonded and don't know? Also considering her ex was described as being younger looking than his age, is he immortal? Will need to keep reading to find out.

Mysterious

There are so many involved in this book that I thought I would need to read several of the previous books to remember who is who.
Before the next book that’s what I will do.
This is the best series and rereading will be a bonus!
