(I only read the Mighty Nein story in this collection. 12 pages)

This story was very cute! It shows Luc trying to deal with everything that's happened in his so far short life, and Marion - the Ruby of the Sea - comforting him and letting him know how she deals with missing her daughter and the worry she has for everything that happens to Jester.
I liked the art, and while there wasn't much more of a story than them talking, it was s very wholesome story, and I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the Mighty Nein Origins stories! (Even if I know it all, being able to experience it in comics will be very interesting)

5 stars for the Mighty Nein story which came right for my heart.

3 stars for the Witcher story. It was kinda fun? I guess? (I admit all I know about The Witcher is stuff friends have told me and what I have picked up by cultural osmosis, so I mostly read it because I‘m a completionist.

3.5 stars for the Mighty Nein origins story, which was a great matchup of a mother and child both worrying about THEIR respective child and mother, and finding comfort in each other when they talk about it. 2 stars for the Witcher story which I absolutely hated lol (but at least was well structured). Needlessly grim. A weird pair to match up in a volume together!

Two stories

In Critical Role, a son worries about his mother as she is away fighting enemies. An important person in his life helps him work through his feelings.

In The Witcher, Geralt comes across a Nekker facing consequence for stealing a pig. He defends the Nekker even as everyone else tries to destroy him.

Entertaining

The first story was cute and entertaining. Lovely to read from beginning to end. The second story seemed anticlimactic...kind of funny in a brutal way.

Fun little short story with young luc and the ruby of the sea . The Witcher comic was also cool I guess.

Okay

The first story is just an introduction. The Witches story is cute. Lots is twists in just a short encounter.

Fine, but way to short. I know it was just for free comic book day, but it had a small, cute tidbit of Luc talking to Marrion about how great his mom is, then suddenly it jumped to a comic that had nothing to do with ANY characters from Critical Role. Didn't get to see the Mighty Nein actually be cool or anything.
I did appreciate the grim irony of the second comic, but since I know nothing od The Witcher, it didn't mean much to me.

Critical role: 4 stars /// Witcher: 3 stars

Given as a free comic for 'Free comic book day 2021' I was quite excited about the inclusion of a Mighty Nein story. Having been a fan of both CR and The Witcher this was a really good deal!

Critical Role:
The first tale is a short cute vignet of Nott's son and Jester's mother telling each other about their anxietys if their loved ones lives and the fear that they may not come back. The art is done well and the characters are depicted well in this charming and hopeful tale.

Witcher:
The second tale is both more filled with humour and darker tale that fits well with the Witcher setting. In it a young Nekker steals a pig, but runs into not only Gerald, two hunters, a sorcerer and the owner of the pig. Things don't go well for everyone and it goes to show that the Witcher world is dark and unkind and doesn't care about your.

Two stories, one from Critical Role and one from The Witcher.

Critical Role: The Mighty Nein: Origins — Home

Set at the Lavish Chateau in Nicodranas.

Luc is exploring the castle.

He comes upon a regal lady who is applying her makeup.

Turns out, Luc really misses his mother. And Jester is the beautiful woman’s daughter.

Very basic; suitable for small children.

The Witcher: Once Upon A Time in the Woods

An original story featuring Geralt.

Cool illustration style, though Geralt looks super old in this one.

The pig-stealing monster is a Nekker.

Geralt has been tasked with apprehending the fiend. But Geralt and the lady are not alone in the woods.

Her daughter joins them…as does Paco Barbloes.

Cool story.

The Witcher story is very strong, but The Mighty Nein tale drags this work down.

3,5 stars.

The Critical Role story was cute, but was, as with the Avatar FCBD title, all fantasy: not my usual jam and while I will read fantasy, it really needs to suck me in. This, unfortunately didn't, as much as I've liked Jody Hauser's work in the past.

I really wanted to read the Witcher story and this would have rated lower if not for that: I got into the series on Netflix and while this felt different, it was enough to keep me hooked. The story line is pretty brutal in an unexpected way, but that falls in line with the show, where choices have severe real life consequences due to human foibles.

The Critical Role story with Luc and Marion was excellent, very cute- if this is a glimpse at what the Mighty Nein comics are going to be like, then I cannot wait for more. Jody Houser nails the characterizations.

Getting the comic solely for the CR story is worth it.

(The Witcher comic was...disappointing, to be honest. Barely had Geralt in it, and the story just seemed pointless. The world of the Witcher is dark and gruesome, but to me it's about the humanity of monsters and the monsters of humanity, and this was just...death, regardless? More like Game of Thrones in tone. Depressing.)

More of a 3.5 star rating.

I got this mainly for the Critical Role story which was enjoyable, even though it was just two side characters having a little chat. Thankfully they were two of my favourite side characters for the Mighty Nein campaign so it wasn’t too boring. It actually held up with my headcanon of what those two characters would be doing when the MN weren’t around them.

And even though the Witcher story was a little dull, they seemed to capture the essence of the shorter stories of the books and contract side missions of the Wild Hunt game.

What can I say about a extremely short two lil stories that I got for free? Not a lot tbh.

The Critical Role story was pretty cute, and the Witcher one was definitely not, although a tad amusing in a morbid way. Definitely reminded me of a few unfortunate choices I made in the game.

Buen gancho para querer leer estas dos colecciones. The Witcher la sigo y la pequeña historia que aquí se presenta me resulta muy curiosa, más que la de Critical Role, aunque el dibujo y la pinta que tiene te atrapan.
