He’s an arrogant control freak.
I’m a stubborn, loose cannon.
We’re a match made in hell.

Luckily, that’s Samael's hometown.

After the Mage Council publicly excised me, I've finally got my first real case. And I've even taken on a brand-new employee: A werewolf with impulse control issues.

But my sister just lost everyone she loves, and she’s begging me to ask Samael for help.

Whether I like it or not, I need the high demon's resources. Because anyone who can kill that many witches has the kind of power we can't afford to ignore.

But the more I work with Samael, the more I'm realizing just who he is beneath the mask he wears for everyone else.

And the demon I never wanted?

He just might be the love I never knew I needed.

Another fabulous read full of mystery and tense situations alongside the sneaky grins and eye rolls, the latter mostly coming from Danica to Samael ...

I love that previous questions are answered in this series, you're only left hanging for a while, however, one question is put to bed and another pops up! The mystery and the building to a finale is always present and the journey throughout is addictive!

I love these books, Demons, who'd of thought!

This series is very addictive.

Danica cut all ties with the Mage council, and she is now trying to build her little bounty hunter business. When Evie’s coven’s house is burned down, with many witches caught inside, minutes after Danica accepts a missing person case, she finds herself overloaded with work, but Nathaniel comes in just in time with an offer she can’t refuse: taking a werewolf, Kyla, as an intern in exchange for a favor owed to Danica whenever she needs it. Time is of the essence now as Danica and Kyla need to find the missing witch and figure out who targeted Evie’s coven and killed half of them in one fell swoop.

The plot felt a little weaker in this third book. It is probably because the story focused more on the romance development between Danica and Samael, rather than having a more complex plot. It was still a good story, but the plot was not as engaging as in the first two books. That being said, I liked the romance between them, and I am glad they could sit down after a while and talk like adults instead of letting the tension between them grow out of control. The author managed to have some angst in the beginning of the book, which I liked, and also to have both main characters act like grown-ups.

Samael was forced to think a little more like a human in this book. After Lilith explained to him that Danica was raised like a human, and therefore was thinking like a human and obviously didn’t appreciate being ordered around and kept in the dark, Samael decided to really take the time to think about how he could seduce her and show her that he truly cared about her and I loved it. He didn’t try to change who he was, and Danica never asked him to either, but he gave her more meaningful gifts instead of trying to push diamonds on her and gave her space instead of ordering her around. I really like that he was able to think about this and put in the effort for Danica. It also made it more believable when Danica decided to have a conversation with Samael and ended up forgiving him and telling him that she loved him.

Kyla is a new character that was introduced in that book, and I loved her immediately. Female werewolves are super rare. Nathaniel rescued Kyla and asked Danica to take her as an intern in her new firm to give her a chance to adjust and find something she enjoys doing. Kyla and Danica quickly became friends, and I really hope they will continue working together in the future books. Kyla is strong, fierce and takes no shit from people, which makes her the perfect sidekick for Danica.

There were a few betrayals in the last part of the book. However, they did not have as much impact as they could have. The betrayal connected to Evie’s coven was related to a character we rarely hear about in the book, so I didn’t care about it that much. I am still a little unsure of the thought process that led to the discovery of this character’s duplicity. I understand the logic, but when they named the character as the culprit, it felt like it came out of nowhere. The other betrayal was committed by someone closer to Samael, but I did see this betrayal coming, so I was not that shocked by it.

The book ends with a cliffhanger , and even though I know in the end, all will be good for Danica and Samael, I still can’t wait to read the next book and see how they will manage to beat the odds stacked against them once again.

This series has turned into my favorite so far this year! The characters are complex! The story is interesting! I love how the author manages to intertwine 3 different plots into one while still making it possible for me to keep everything organized in my head about them. If that's not talent then I don't know what is!

I loved that Danica finally admitted to herself and Samael that fighting the thing between them wasn't working anymore. Though considering how this book ended I wished she would have realized that a book sooner. I love Danica's spunk and her take-no-sh*t attitude. I also like that her magic/abilities don't come easily to her. I like seeing her slowly evolve into the powerhouse she's bound to become in future books.

Samael. I both love and hate him. When he's good he's fantastic. When he's bad he's a scary MFer. Though I like seeing him try to evolve to meet some of Danica's expectations. Granted some things will never change but I like seeing him put in the effort.

That cliffhanger was just plain mean. I'm already dreading the wait between Book #4 and #5. The only way I'm getting through this series is by believing that both main characters will end up together and beat all odds. Don't make me regret putting my trust in you Stacia Stark 😭

March 10 2022 - I finished this a few days ago but boy WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER JUST PLAIN EVIL! I jumped into the next book as soon as I could. Deep down I like to think that I know that this series or at least Danica's story won't end up with her alone at the end. I need to believe that or I'll never finish reading this series. I'm already dreading the cliffhanger in the next book since Book #5 (Danica's last book - according to the author) is going to get released in April 😭

With Danica's story done, I can't wait to see which characters get their own stories! I'm getting ahead of myself. URGH someone stop me 😅

I may or may not have a full review coming soon!

This ending had me....

What a story teller! Stark has me! Yes. She. Does.

Dani is coming to except Samael for what he is. Hers. We see the fight to keep her distance coming to an end and I love it. Samael has been beyond patient, it is finally paying off.

Dani and her circle are growing with each book. She is surrounded by love and loyalty. The mystery's Stark has taken us on with each book as been amazing. The way she weaves in the new challenges in with the known upcoming battler with Dani's grandfather is done flawlessly.

The romance it perfect. The secondary characters are amazing. The FMC and MC are everything I enjoy in a read.

The ending sucked!!!! (in a good way-ish)

Dying for book 4!

Happy reading,
DD 🥂

Holy crap balls that was a killer ending!

Have you ever heard a song playing in your head while reading a book?  I usually don't, but listening to this book I kept hearing Sucker for Pain haha. Okay, but seriously, this series completely stole all of my attention. Murder blazed through the pages, there were unfathomable tasks, shocking alliances, help from unlikely sources and revelations that were horrifically brutal made this book impossible to put down! I know I keep saying it, but if you love urban fantasy you definitely need to binge this series!
He looked endlessly amused, and it pissed me off. His wings were hidden away, his clothes covered almost every inch of his hard body, but whenever I looked at him, all I saw was that hard body covering mine, the wicked lust on his face as he thrust into me.
“Danica?”

Danica finally started her own business and I loved her new hire, Kyla. She was a werewolf that fit right in and it was impossible not to like her. Danica showed us time and again how smart and tricky she was as we got even more pieces of the puzzle put together. We still have a ways to go, but the picture is definitely getting much clearer! I don't necessarily like some of the things. Such as the new things we learned about *side eyes while trying to keep away the anxiety*. Creepy and eerie doesn't explain the situation enough. And I don't even know what that means for the spinoff series. It left me feeling nervous for how that's all going to unfold!
“And if you didn’t know I’m already yours, you haven’t been paying close enough attention.”

But here's my favorite part of this book....there is a spoiler ahead eeps. I love when a slow burn finally, finally turns into something more and amazing.  While I absolutely love slow burn romances, I love those pivotal moments when they admit to each other how they feel.  So this book made my heart so happy. I loved those scenes so much! But still, the world kept going around them. So we got to watch as Samael proved that he would do anything to protect Danica. Plus his thoughtful gift, awww, he gets her. Truly gets her! It was impossible not to fall head over heels in love with Samael, if you hadn't already. Through it all, they still had fabulous banter. It was so much fun and smile inducing! And their intimate moments together were steamy hot!
A shiver ran up my spine as a warning siren rang out in my brain. There was something I wasn’t seeing. Some bigger part of this plan that I’d missed.

I'm so thankful this series is complete because that ending, wow.  The cliffhanger was brutal, my mind was blown and I was left reeling and just wanted to curl into a ball. Be thankful the next book is out! There was blood, creatures, betrayal and mysteries. But there was also humor and love laced into this story too. It was the perfect mixture of fun and intense. And I definitely cried happy and sad tears. But I will end with this.....I can't wait for you to meet Nuri! My lips are zipped for who or what that is eeps! But you'll love it!

Tercera entrega.

Loved the book! Partly because Dani FINALLY stops fighting the obvious and she and Samael become a bonafide couple. Awesome!! Well…. Until that ending. HATED that with a passion beyond words.

This series gets better and better. I think my only confusion is with one of the mysteries her idea of the suspect changed so rapidly after being so confident it was honestly jarring. Like, idk how we moved onto the other person.
I also thought the spell of three worked against any injury and not just death, but ah well, probably me just not understanding well.

Felt like Christmas came early when I got Inner Demons on my kindle 🥺

I’ve been highly anticipating this book since finishing Dance with the Demons & Stacia certainly did not disappoint! From start to finish I was hooked, the romance between Danica & Samael was just the right amount of steamy with moments making me go aww and wishing I had my own Samael to fly with. Along with meeting new characters and reconnecting with characters from the previous two books. Especially loved seeing the relationship with Danica & her sister grow & their team up scenes 🙌🏻

Cannot wait to see what happens in the next book, January can’t come sooner, but what a way to start the new year 😍

Must read previous two books in the series before starting Inner Demons, highly recommend to fantasy/pnr romance readers!

Shit is getting real.

Finally. FINALLY, they got together for real.
She threatened to kill him with Rowan wood at some point, but really, every relationship has its struggles, and no one is perfect.

I feel like they both tried to change their stubborn ways in this book. And they did it in order to make their relationship work. They also worked more together on the plot in this, though I wish Samael was more involved still.

Kyla - the female werewolf - was introduced in this book. And they are super rare, which instantly made me like her.
I felt like she sort of replaced Vassago in some ways, and he was reduced to babysitting Evie, but I liked her so much that I can’t be mad about it either.
Well, I’m mad we didn’t get more with Ava’s, because I absolutely love him!

I still hate Evie.
And it was somewhat difficult to get through this when the plot pretty much surrounded her.
All my explanations for why I hate her is in the review of the second book “dance with the demon”.
It will take too long to explain it again. But my reasons are valid.
In this specific book what bothered me the most was that everything regarding the plot, and what Danica did when she had a moments peace was about Evie.
And she said she wanted to be put to work and help during the investigation, and I was just asking myself where this was coming from. She is not a detective. She doesn’t know what she is doing. She is heavily emotionally invested, and it just felt weird to try and include her in the plot this way.
And can I just say: this isn’t Evie’s book, it’s Danica’s.
Evie gets her own books later on, so why does she have to be the main focus? She doesn’t. But she still was.
It bothers me to no end. Like I am actually pissed about it.
It’s why I gave it one less star. I can be petty that way.

This might be my favourite in the series so far.

I was glad to see more of Samael here and his softer side. Danica didn’t annoy me as much as the last book and I’m so glad she’s done with the whole stubborn streak.

There are so many things happening in these books and so many characters constantly being introduced or killed off. It almost feels a little too much.

Anyway. Love Kyla and can’t wait to see where she ends up. Still rooting for Evie and Nathaniel.

Ending was mean. I wanted to give the series a break but now I have to read the next book because I’m too curious 🤣

Ladies and gents, we finally have a likable male protagonist! It only took 2 and a half books but finally Samael got his head out of his ass and got in touch with his own emotions! 🎉
I enjoyed the plot quite a lot, the snippets we got about Evie were super intriguing and Kyla's character was a blessing.
I felt that the final third of the story was a bit rushed and pulled too many twists, giving me whiplash, but that cliffhanger ending sure ropes the reader into starting next book immediately!

Not as good as the first two books, but not bad either. My main problem is after the ending of the last one, you would think that the romance would have more tension in this one. Instead, one page she's fighting it and the next they're a couple. It felt kinda off. I liked the cases Danica solved and am curious to read the next to find out what happens.

I think I’m done with Danika and Samael’s storyline, I’m skimming through these books and none of the characters feel fully fleshed out. Wishy-washy dynamic between Danika and I’m over them. I just want to read the werewolf stuff. Give me the Nathaniel love story! Will be skipping to that one.

I ´ve started to read this book yesterday afternoon. It was 11:30pm and I was in the middle of the book when I realized how late it is and that I need to get some sleep. But as soon as possible, I opened the book again and continue reading. Just to finish it less than 24 hours from the start of the reading.

It was soooo cute how Samael tried to be more human and less demon for Danica to show her what she really means for him. He kept her friends safe. He kept her sister safe. She tried to be blind at first, but she got her way. And it was nice to follow it. I could literally saw the gears in her mind to move faster and faster as she was thinking about everything. I got a bit confused about Samael´s reaction when she asked him if he is in love with her, but then I got it. Vulnerability. Something he was not used to.

I wrote it in my review about first book - I like how Stacia Stark handled witches. White, grey and black witches and the covens of white witches. Reading Inner Demons I couldn´t stop thinking about old TV Show Witches which I used to watch 20 years ago.I loved that TV Show and this exact book reminded me it. Not at the way of covens as the TV show is about the sisters who kept for themselves without coven. But at the way witches acted in this book, and whole series. And as for Gloria...Well, Samael shouldn´t trust her as he did. I am very curious how everything what is connected to this black witch will turned out in next books.

The last chapters? Cara? Mella? I was very close to heart attack. When Rose stepped into the scene, I felt light relief, but not for long. I was desperate to see Danica safe and all I could think about was "where the hell is Samael, what takes him so long?" The author took her time knowing we all will be desperate to finish this book and grab next one immediately. Well, yes - that´s what I will do as soon as I finish this review.

Evie, oh dear Evie! Before I finished the whole book, I played with the idea to leave this series for a while and start Bargains with Beasts, as that series is about Evie and Nathaniel. Oh yes, I am sure there will be a lot between Evie and Nathaniel - it was obvious in Dance with Demons when they first met and it was obvious from his behavior in this book.
Evie turned out as very interesting character and I am eager to know more about her and to follow her destiny after everything what happened in Inner Demons. But she has to wait, because I have another sister and her Demon to deal with. And I will not stop untill I will see their happily ever after. :)

“Inner Demons” is another fabulous installment in the Deals With Demons series. Before I recap the premise for this book let me warn you to hole into your bra because this is one roller coaster of a ride.

Danica is sitting among a pile of boxes in her new office ponders where to begin when a woman and her daughter walk in and ask her to help them locate her other missing daughter. After some discussion Danica agrees to pursue the matter. No sooner than they leave, Nathaniel, the werewolf Alpha walks in and asks her to hire a rare female wolf, Kyla, who is constantly getting into trouble. Either trepidation she agrees.

As Danica and Kyla begin working on locating the missing witch Evie, calls frantically to let her know that her coven family has basically been wiped out in a fire. She makes Danica promise to find out who is responsible. So, the games begin. Danica has to face the treachery, schemes and plots of so many as she gets to the truth. She also has to accept her true feelings for Samael and come to the understanding that she will be their best hope of taking down Lucifer is he doesn’t get her first.

I have to say, this read left me emotionally spent especially the ending. It makes your wonder how will Danica find the strength and will to move forward before it is too late. The added character of Kyla is wonderful and the two characters compliment each other’s style. I predict she will prove to be pivotal in future installments. My only complaint is I have to wait for the next book in the series. Oh well, good things come to those who wait!

I'm loving the progression of this series. Banter, romance, snark, action, mystery, and overall good time is just chef's kiss.

I also had a little moment when Emporia, VA played a small role! I have to drive through Emporia at least twice a year to visit in-laws, and can confirm the place is tiny - mostly rural. It's also a treacherous, town-wide speed trap, especially set for anyone with out-of-state plates. The speed limits change quickly and drastically on the highway for no reason, so even if you're careful they can catch you before you can fully decelerate. It's really bad. I'm actually convinced that the town's revenue is exclusively funded by travelers who won't bother driving four states away to contest the tickets.

There's literally a meme. That's how notorious it is.

Anyway, I get a little excited when places I know fairly well show up unexpectedly in books.

Inner Demons
Stacia Stark

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book took it up like a thousand notches, everything got more intense and fast! Following on from the previous book we jump straight back into it with Danica, she’s got a lot going on. While Danica’s dealing with shit there’s a wonderful underlying found family feel & it brings a whole other level of depth to this story. Danica and her sister are well and truly mending their relationship & building a new foundation together. Meanwhile, Samael takes new approaches to winning the affections of Danica. Vas is our usual lovable sidekick and we get to meet some new people in this book. Anyway, without giving away all the juicy details, shit hits fan, msyteries are solved, questions are answered but with each answer comes more questions. We enter the grand finale of book 3 with an epic twist of fate. I cannot wait to see where book 4 takes us!

“They would pay. Every single one of them would pay for what they did to us.”
