Rate this book
It’s time to ditch the self-limiting beliefs that hold you back from reaching your full potential! Do you ever feel like you’re just not good enough, smart enough, or talented enough in certain areas? Do these beliefs keep you from seeking out new opportunities or challenges, because you’re afraid of failing?  If so, you may be suffering from a “fixed mindset.” In contrast, a “growth mindset” is the belief that you can increase your ability or develop your attributes—that you can adapt and learn from your mistakes. But how do you cultivate a growth mindset? The Growth Mindset Workbook  offers essential skills grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to change the way you think about your own talents and abilities. Based on the core principles outlined in Mindset by Carol Dweck, this workbook will help you shed unhelpful and self-limiting attitudes and beliefs, and replace them with a growth mindset that can increase resiliency, boost self-confidence, and form the foundation of a meaningful, values-based life. The most important thing to remember is that a growth mindset can be learned , and doing so can positively impact how you think, feel and act.  If you’re ready to say yes to life’s challenges and maximize your potential, this step-by-step guide can show you the way.

In a crowded market of workbooks, this one is a new classic! If you want to be more resilient in life and able to take on challenges, adapt to difficult circumstances, accomplish more, connect with others in healthy ways, and feel more life satisfaction, order a copy of The Growth Mindset Workbook, and get started. In this easy-to-follow text, you will learn about the science and psychology of mindsets, and how to distinguish between helpful and unhelpful mental habits. More importantly, you can learn how to shift your mindset toward the most constructive thoughts and actions and turn this important skill into a habit. Some might be surprised to learn that relentlessly positive mental mind-sets are not optimal and can be a major hinderance to life-long growth. Dr. Elliott-Moskwa outlines the various menaces to a growth mind-set, hiccups that everyone encounters at least occasionally, and defines the skills needed to tame these menaces, achieve personal and professional goals, and thrive. These important skills and habits can break down the self-defeating cycles of a negatively fixed mindset and sustain momentum toward the things you really want in life.

The text includes plenty of examples, clear explanations, well-crafted exercises, and worksheets to guide readers in strengthening their own growth mindset, and all worksheets can be downloaded. This workbook really shows how to change your life for the better by deepening self-awareness and building specific mental skills, skills that anyone can use. I especially liked the focus on catching inevitable slips toward a negative mindset and sustaining a growth focus over time. Although this is not a treatment for clinical mental health problems, the information and skills presented in The Growth Mindset Workbook can augment ongoing professional care, especially cognitive behavioral therapy. I highly recommend The Growth Mindset Workbook to anyone who wants to learn some truly effective mental skills for life-long growth and satisfaction.

Setelah beberapa buku self-help, tip yang diberikan cenderung persis. Ada breathing, mindfulness, analizing (dengan bagan/tabel/journaling), acting as if, juga alat bantu identifikasi problem. Kalau di Purification of the Heart: Signs, Symptoms and Cures of the Spiritual Diseases of the Heart ada penyakit-penyakit hati menurut ajaran Islam, dan di Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Dummies ada thinking errors untuk ditantang dengan bagan-bagan, di buku ini ada fixed mindset untuk diubah menjadi growth mindset dengan shifting questions dalam tabel.

Pokok-pokoknya sebagai berikut.

FIXED MINDSET THOUGHTS

A/N = All-or-none judgments about self when faced with a challenging task
- E = Negative view of effort when a task is a struggle
100/0 percent = Perfectionist standards when assessing performance
Mag/Min = Magnification or minimization of your mistakes
VJudge = Viewing others as judges when receiving feedback
-CC = Competitive comparison

GROWTH MINDSET THOUGHTS

ASkills = Analysis of your current skills when faced with a challenging task
+E = Positive view of effort when a task is a struggle
Any percent = Any percent is something when assessing performance
AMistakes = Analysis of mistakes
VResource = Viewing others as resources
+ CC = Constructive comparison

The workbook is really good. It combines the knowledge of Growth Mindsets by Carol Dweck and the application of CBT, which was unknown to me before. I find the approach very successful, because you learn about both topics and can apply the principles of CBT to other areas of life.

The focus of the book is on exercises - it is a workbook. These exercises are accompanied by a theoretical introduction regarding fixed and growth mindsets. The exercises then follow the procedure of CBT.

A single criticism lies with the paper / material used in the book. I think it looks a bit "cheap". All things are legible and easy to write on, but I would have liked a firmer cover/binding.
