Polly Harris is the author of six YA novels and runs her own editorial company where she works on books just like this one. When Polly isn’t writing or editing, she can be found cuddling her cat (professionally known as her editorial assistant), crafting, or swiping through dating apps.
While titles are not subject to copyright law, self-published writers who either don't google whether or not a title has been already taken, or purposefully snatch it anyway in the hopes of riding its coattails for their own self gain ("maybe they'll buy MY BOOK BY MISTAKE!")....
...ARE A WHOLE TYPE.
In this case, Polly Harris is using the same title of an LGBTQ ownvoices YA novel, published in 2019, by an openly gay, marginalized author. The genres are similar enough (the first one YA, this one NA, both thrillers) that this should rub anyone the wrong way. It is shady af.
Please support the queer YA thriller Swipe Right for Murder, published by Little, Brown, and with a foreword by James Patterson, and not this copycat trash with the Canva cover.
Received an ARC from the author :) This was such an addictive book! I honestly couldn’t stop reading all day! When I first read the synopsis I thought it was a really interesting idea! I will definitely recommend it if you want a light and fun read :)
I really thought this book was going to be a fun and easy read. Boy was I wrong. This was so so painfully boring to and I had to DNF after 40% in. There’s practically not substance to the plot and sure it could get better but I didn’t have it in me to continue trying with it.
A huge thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
4⭐️ 1🌶
CW: violence, attempted murder, dead bodies
I really enjoyed this!! What better way to enjoy a romcom but laced with a bit of mystery and thriller? I don’t usually read books in the thriller genre but one of the reasons I had a fun time reading this was because of the strong romance plot it had alongside the murder mystery.
Georgie was your average female lead and she’s relatable in a way that she used dating apps to find her next date after suffering a bad break up. Her relationship with the two potential love interests she had were both so entertaining to read! I felt that she had good banter and chemistry with both of them. Though with the constant news of girls being murdered, there is that looming dread that either of them might be the killer. That plot really added excitement and intrigued which made this story so fast-paced from the beginning! I was constantly on my toes trying to get to the end and I was quite shocked by the reveal!
I wished that the side characters were more fleshed out but I guess their story was relevant enough to back up the narrative as to why Georgie felt the need to use the dating apps.
Overall, this was such a fun, quick and light read! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a romance read with a bit of mystery and thriller on the side.
AHHH ok I read this book in a day, I couldn’t put it down. It was written quite well and had me hooked.
I rly liked how this had all the vibes of a normal contemporary romance but switched to eerie and gave me chills at the same time. It was very different to anything I’ve read before and thought it was done quite well.
The chemistry between the two mcs was sooo cute. But Georgie stressed me OUT. To put into perspective: she willingly agrees to a weekend in a cabin in the middle of the woods despite her suspicions that Ash is a serial killer. IN A MIDDLE OF A SERIAL KILLING PANDEMIC
The twist was amazing and I did not see it coming at all. It was the perfect ‘she knows’ moment (iykyk).
My only issue with the book was that it ended quite abruptly but other than that it was an enjoyable read.

As if this was a debut novel? 🤯 Polly’s writing is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Happy pub day to this amazing little thriller, which i am so thankful to have been sent a copy of! Incredible twists and turns & the build up was PERFECT for me, exactly how i like it 😍⠀ ⠀ Keep in mind this is a YA thriller, so it is different to an adult thriller but it is incredible for the target audience. i love a cheeky bit of YA personally!!! ⠀ ⠀ Girls are going missing at Georgie’s university and all the signs are pointing to a lad she matched with on a dating site…. ⠀ ⠀ It combines a good thriller with dating apps and society today perfectly. Highly recommend! I’ll stop blabbing now - buy it if you can ! It’s on kindle unlimited or 77p to buy. you cannot say no Xxx
This is a light YA mystery and it was very entertaining! I loved the characters and totally didn’t see that ending coming! I definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a fun new young adult book!
I actually really enjoyed this book, I liked that it was really short it was a good length. Even though the mystery part wasn’t the best, the ending was good and I surprisingly enjoyed the teen aspect. It had a lot of heart and was really endearing.
I saw this book on Amazon on loved the title. As a fan of rom coms and mystery, this was such a good book. It was a super quick read and I actually really enjoyed it. It was funny and suspenseful and quirky in all the right places. Can’t wait to read her next book :)
Perfect length, definitely a quick read. Couldn’t stop reading it had to finish it soon cause the FMC was giving me anxiety. But in a good way. Thanks to the length of the book the story was fast paced. Perfect for an easy fast read :)
i was very kindly gifted an arc copy of this book by the author to read and review.
this book was FUN and it really helped me out of a big ol’ reading slump i’ve been in. a truly gripping, yet easy read, i found myself not knowing how this was going to end and being SO happy with the twist.
i really enjoyed all the characters in this, they felt all so real and relatable, (as someone who’s been there, done that with online dating i found georgie all the more relatable).
also i loved that this was set in autumn around halloween, really getting me in the spooky spirit!!!! so yes!!! i highly recommend this book for anyone looking to get into the fall mood, this is the book for you 🧡
A serial killer is on the loose in a college town and Georgie might be next. This book has it all – friendships, college life, dating apps – and murder. W-O-W! Completely blown away by the ending! Didn’t see that one coming! Hold on tight to this fast-paced thrill ride! Intense. Suspenseful. Worth every minute!
I was provided with a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved the idea for this book (not to mention the really great cover art) so I was really excited to read it. I was so happy with how quickly I got into the story, as well as how easy it was to read overall.
It would have been great to have seen a little more depth from the plot and some of the characters. Because the story is so fast-paced, it felt like we lost a little of that elaboration that would have created a greater all-round story. However, it was a really enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns that I didn't see coming!
I love how Harris wrote it with such a average woman protagonist. You get a proper insight into her mind. The plot of Swipe Right for Mystery is so fast paced! Personally, I cannot stand read a slow book that doesn’t get started until halfway through. I was hooked after the first few pages. Right from the start of the book, the mystery is introduced which i found intriguing.Although the plot started fast, it also took its time. Nothing was rushed which helped me feel like i completely understood what was happening. About 60% through I thought I knew the direction of the book but the plot twist at the end was so unbelievable. Wow. This book has romance, suspense and mystery which are my three most loved things in books.
I was kindly gifted an arc copy of swipe right for murder by this author to read and leave an honest review.
As soon as I read the synopsis of the book I knew I would enjoy this read. From being a university student myself living with best friends as well as meeting my boyfriend at university on a dating app, I knew this would be right up my street lol. And with the added murder mystery factor, I was so excited to read!
Georgie is a typical girl at university living with her best friend and wants to try online dating after third wheeling her room mate and her boyfriend for too long, as well as being upset about her break up with her ex boyfriend. She downloads a few dating apps to see what is out there. During the course of the book, girls from university have been going missing and murdered.. but who could it be?
I love how this book dives into university and the dating scene, the realistic awkward conversations over the dating apps and meeting up for first dates. I loved the relationships between each characters too, the friendships and the romances.
I read this book in 2 sittings which is very quick for me! I loved the writing style and the likeable characters. If you want an easy fun read with lots of mystery then you will love this. My favourite book genres are romance and thriller so I definitely loved the mixture of both during this book!
In terms of the plot twists - I thought I had guessed what was going to happen but boy i was wrong!
A very fun easy and fast paced read and I highly recommend! Thank you Pauline Harris for the arc :)
I literally could not put this book down! First of all, Polly’s writing style is so easy to read. Second, the chapters are so short!! (Those two things are always my favorites.) This was such a lighthearted, cute book, but also a creepy thriller. I love that the author made this book relatable to the younger generation by incorporating dating apps into the main plot. That’s something I haven’t seen done in a thriller before that I thought was unique and fun. I also LOVED the twist at the end. At first I was thinking this book was super predictable, then I got to the end and was like, “whoa!” I really enjoyed reading this book and am super thankful for the eARC of it!!
Swipe Right for Murder is a typical suspense story. I expect and enjoy that. I received a copy from the author to read and review. Following is my honest review.
Synopsis Georgie can’t get over her ex James. She thought he was the one and now he’s gone. Thankfully she has found a friend in her college roommate, Amelia. Amelia goads Georgie into using dating apps. She downloads a couple and gets started, entering her information. Georgie is excited to find one exclusive to her college, Altmar. After a couple of dud dates, she starts up a conversation with a guy named Ashley on the Altmar app. Yes, his name is Ashley.
While the whole dating app situation is going on, there are some strange events happening in the area. Georgie and Amelia find a dead body leaving the dorm one evening. Following that, they hear about the recent kidnappings of college girls in the area.
As Georgie’s relationship with Ashley grows, she becomes worried he could be the kidnapper. Talking herself out of that line of thinking, she goes to his family cabin with him for the weekend.
That is where things take a turn for the worse. Is Ashley the kidnapper? What happens at that cabin? Does Ashley survive? What the heck is going on around Altmar?
My Thoughts This was a quick read for me. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the kidnapper was. Shockingly, I did figure it out shortly before the story relayed that information. I am typically not so good at figuring out who the bad guy is! I was quite content with the ending too. The plot was pretty typical for a suspense novel. If you like suspense, I would suggest Swipe Right for

A huge thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of her book, “Swipe right for Murder” to read and honestly review!✨
It is not a secret that—maybe even subconsciously—I have very high expectations when it comes to murder and mystery novels. I’ve loved mystery since I was very young, so having read many crime books, I expect certain elements to be present in the mystery books I read! And by that I mean; action, lots and lots of gripping action. Plot twists; twists that I may think I’ve figured out but eventually surprise me and leave me in shock. And finally, characters I can’t help but love and suspect at the same time.
“Swipe right for Murder” had all of those elements! From the very first moment, I couldn’t help but love how the book had a rom-com setting, but nevertheless didn’t lose it’s unsettling atmosphere over the blood-chilling crimes and the way everything was connected!
I came up with many theories while reading; the riveting ending had all of them twisting—I only figured out the truth seconds before it was revealed and when I did, everything fell perfectly into place like puzzle pieces!
“Swipe Right for Murder” managed to satisfy my thirst for an enticing mystery and proved to be everything I’m looking for in a murder novel! It is undoubtable for me, that all mystery fans will enjoy the twists and turns of this unputdownable story and end up fooled (like me!) by the unexpected end! Loved it!⭐️

Cute, short little read. Something to get you out of a reading slump but not exceptionally original or different from your regular cookie cutter serial killer mysteries. Objectively it was probably 3 stars but I'm giving it 4 cuz it was fun. The main character was eerily similar to me till she began overlooking all the foreshadowing hints that were thrown at her. I can't say I guessed the main twist but I definitely knew the events that would happen before they played out, much before our main girl did. The romance was pretty cute. Healthy relationship check for sure. There was a point where an unnecessary third act conflict could have happened and it was swerved successfully so cheers to that. Anyway hopefully now I can get back to reading. Instant soup.
Georgie wants to get over the pain she feels after her perfect boyfriend broke up with her after cheating on her. Her best friend convinces her to install some dating apps on her phone and she ends up finding two young men that she likes. Meanwhile women start dying and she thinks that the murder is one of the guys she is dating, a guy she really likes, so she starts trying to understand if she's right or not, does a little investigation.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was funny at times, and the question whodunit is really hard to answer until the last few chapters, keeping the mistery without getting boring.
This was a nice quick easy read. Thriller mixed with some romance with a splash of humour in? I like it! Really liked the authors writing style and the short snappy chapters. The plot twist was great, not one I was expecting and was very well thought out and explained..although I did find that the last chapter seemed to fall a bit short, and felt a bit hurried. Would have liked to see an epilogue.
What a fabulous book this is! The originality of the plot, the endearing characters, the relatable struggle with the dating world and the plot twist! I loved it so much, thank you for sharing this with me and letting me experience it. I loved so much. An easy read that kept me wanting to read on. It is such a wonderful debut and you should be so so proud. Thank you for writing this 💜
Read on Kindle Unlimited. Pretty interesting concept and full o potential. I found that it was a bit mild and a lot more could have been done with the story, but it was an easy, quick and entertaining read. One of the main issues I had with the book was the amount of grammatical errors I noticed while reading....
As I read this book, I, like the main character, was endlessly swiping on the dating apps. So I felt a connection right away. Polly's characters are engaging, unique and feel strong on the page. However, I couldn't help but feel that some of their reactions, especially to such dramatic events, was a little ... lackluster.
If I had found a dead body, would I just carry on?
What distracted me most, however, was the overwriting. Where one word would suffice, the author has chosen three! I frequently found myself thinking, "Yes, I get it ...", which was a shame.
There's plenty in this book to make you smile, nod along and simply to relax to. It's a good story populated with good characters placed in a world that is, for the most part, very believable.
Thank you to the author for the free copy in exchange for an honest review. 💜
This romcom murder mystery was a great read for me. The story was easy to read and I finished it in one sitting. The characters were perfect for the story and I enjoyed reading every single chapter of this book. The plot twist was pretty good too because I got it all wrong. It wasn’t until the “reveal” when I figured out what was happening. So if you’re looking for something to read this Halloween season but not up for something that will give you chills, then this is the right book to read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Happy reading!
