I really enjoyed the second installation in this series!!! It was funny, adorable, and a bit over the top, which is everything I love in a romance manga!! Seriously, this was so cute and I just love how everyone loves Mystia even though she’s supposed to be this great villainess. It’s absolutely hysterical!!

Jey might be my favorite because he infers her affections for him from just a look. It just cracks me up! But every character is literally obsessed with her for whatever reason. This makes for some interesting run-ins between those who love her. Which throws in some fun drama of course!

The whole plot is basically Mystia trying to avoid her demise as villainess and to get the two leads to fall in love. His being in love with her puts a wrench in her plans, but makes it more interesting for us! Everything she does just gets glossed over by these would be suitors, which is hilarious considering she doesn’t seem to love any of them and is only aware of the affections of a couple of the many in love with her. Like I said, hilarious!!

I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy atypical romance manga that has a bit of an unconventional approach. Very interesting and super funny!!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Tokyopop, A T A K A, Sou Inaida, and Hachipisu Wan for the opportunity to read this for my honest and unbiased opinion. It was a joy!!

Ohhh no, Mystia, my dear, you have not only taken over the heroine's role all unawares, but you've also managed to land smack dab in the middle of a group of highly possessive young men. A little less obliviousness would probably help you here.

And if anyone can explain my apparently insatiable appetite for this subgenre of isekai, I'm all ears.

why why why why WHYYYYYYYYYYY do mangaka keep resorting to horrible anime pitfalls like is pedophilia really necessary? he's 15 and she's 10. he's her teacher when she's 15 and he's 20 and he's OBSESSED with her. this is SO DISGUSTING. this literally only has stars because of the art and i loved everything else about the school environment what with her trying to stay alive. i just wish jey seek (YES THAT'S HIS NAME LMAO) was never introduced. if the next few chapters don't improve, i'm out.

edit: they didn't improve. i'm out lmao

Another fun volume. We met what I assume is the rest of the cast of characters. Watching Mystia try to make the events of the game still occur has been amusing. She is so clueless on how much all these people love her. I liked all the horse riding time, even if the love of Jessie at 15 and Mystia at 10 is too big of an age gap for me to get behind.
Will continue!

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING ⚠️

I cannot recommend it and won't keep reading either. First of all, it's really creepy. I'd be all for it if the creepy stuff wasn't treated like it's cute or funny. It's not played off and it's not addressed. People are straight up stalking the main character, controlling who gets to server her, obsess over her.

I didn't notice in the first part, but it's very obvious here that they do not mind a teacher romantically obsessing over a 15 year old. Even when he was younger. He, as a 15 year old teen, fell in love with a 10 year old girl and kept thinking about how it's mutual love and how they're going to elope together.

If this story was taking a dark route on purpose, I'd love this. But it's clearly not. It treats this as cute and funny and lovey dovey. Creepy stories are cool and fun because it's being addressed properly. This is creepy in a way that it treats a teacher being interested in a minor (not even 17 or 18, which is also bad, but this is, like, on an extra bad level).

Next, the main character started off seeming smart but then turned into another Bakarina. I am all for a character being nice and generous, but she has the same dumb streak of "oh no, he definitely doesn't love me" and "events must follow the game story even though not only do I only remember it in chunks, but I also keep changing it drastically". It's just annoying and not fun.

It's a shame this story turned out this way. The art was gorgeous and some backgrounds interesting. But I can't do well with how they treat the obsessives. The author themselves said in the Afterword that they're happy it's not a dark story and that they don't quite get yandere and what they like about them. It's very obvious they're not going to lead this in a meaningful direction. This seems more like creepiness for creepiness sake.

Finally! We're making progress! The beginning was utterly dull. I get they want you to understand how she met the boys and made them accidentally fall for her. But it was just over done stereotypes. Now that final chapter though. . . We finally got to the meat of the story where the original MC is introduced and we discover if she'll win the boys over or ensure the Villainess role to Mystia.

Absolutely delightful!!!

I've had this on preorder since I finished the first volume, but reading an early copy makes me all the more excited for my personal copy to arrive!

I continue to love Mystia's character and just how kind she is. She really thinks far ahead on how the changed storyline will not only affect her, but the people around her. It's what I really liked about her character in the first one and something I continue to enjoy about her character. Even as a ten-year-old she is amazing!

Raid continues to be the one I ship with Mystia, BUT! Shoutout to the creator because I did NOT like Eric at the end of volume one. In fact, I might have *coughs* rolled my eyes *coughs* when I saw that we were getting his backstory in this one. However, one thing I have learned since reading that chapter is never make assumptions about characters without knowing the WHOLE story. ;P

For a non-spoiler, I thought he called her mistress previously for a completely different reason. I realized how I originally interpreted it is VERY different then why he actually calls her mistress. *hides* Such a very well done backstory and extremely compelling! My whole view of him changed and can say that I found myself faltering almost in my shipping Mystia with Raid.

I think the only thing I wasn't super fond of was a new character that we meet. It's not a romance because of how Mystia acts, but that wasn't true for all parties. While I have read age-gap romance before, this one seemed more uncomfortable to me simply because of the ages of the two people and how young they are.

It was fun seeing the beginning of the actual game story begin and think the title of this series is spot on! I truly hope that at some point Mystia will really fall in love with one of these men (and hoping it's Raid!) and not just think of her wellbeing and other's wellbeing as a result of her choices. (Also, dare I say that that one moment was a possible foreshadowing?! Here's to hoping anyway! LOL!)

Lastly, I loved the bonus chapter and how much Mystia's household loves her. LOL!

Another excellent volume in this series and already wanting volume three in my hands! (Going to officially preorder that volume too!)

I really enjoy the glimpses this manga gives of the feelings and stories of other characters. Yes, Mystia is the protagonist, but it’s refreshing to let another character shoulder the mantle for a chapter every now and then. It keeps the story engaging and interesting. This volume loses a star simply because of Jey. He’s straying a bit too far into the creepy stalker arena instead of humble love interest. I hope some sense is knocked into him later on.

I don't remember everyone being quite so obsessive/stalker in the first volume. I'm going to need a character to step up and be a romantic hero soon.

I read the first volume of this manga and like it enough to continue with the story. The second volume is just as gorgeously illustrated as the first one which makes it enjoyable to view. This volume introduces us to more characters that fall in love with Mystia. The story also moves on to the present time where the game starts and it became a lot interesting with how many events are happening differently due to how differently she acted as a child in the game world. I really like Mystia and her level-headedness. I find the men in love with her in this manga amusing but I'm not invested in any of them. I especially don't like how the adult character is acting. I feel just as tired as our FMC with the way the people around her are behaving. But I really like the bonus chapter at the end of the volume, I think it's cute and amusing.

Thank you NetGalley and Tokyopop for the advance e-ARC!

Jey's love is a bit sad and sweet. There is the age gap but he's also fairly young when they meet and you can see how she has helped him even before she knew it was him and the misunderstandings along the way just make it all the more adorable. His cute blushing self is gonna break my heart. But the servants are what are making this story. It's crazy how they don't want to hire any more coworkers cause that takes away from them being able to care for Mystia. For someone so sweet she's collected some psychotic obsessive people and I'm here for that.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

So I was absolutely squeeing in delight when I spotted this one up on Netgalley. I had to have it! I absolutely loved the first volume when I read it in April last year, so I wanted to see how it continued in this second volume~

We dive head-first in the Eric/Eri part, and I had so much fun reading it. Loved that we first saw things through Mystia, who btw was very confused as things weren’t going as she had thought they should have gone. Eric was different. Another love interest should have popped in that should have been cause for why things went so horribly wrong. I did feel for Mystia because of course she is relying on things to be predictable so she can get out of the death flags, but I also had a laugh because of her face and her confusion. Like wait, what? XD And then we saw things through Eri/Eric’s eyes and I was just delighted as it gave more clarity to the situation and why Eric is so infatuated with her.

The next we get a new character, someone named Mr. Jessie! I was instantly curious, especially given Mystia’s descriptions of him and what his route entailed. I could see why she was so hesitant. Either way, I was pretty happy with a new hot character. Especially as the story continued and we saw more of him… he was just so cute when he blushed and laughed. I also love that, just like with Eric before him, we get to see how he met Mystia and how things changed. I am not too sure how I felt about him falling in love with her. Not at this moment at least. She is still a kid, and he is an adult.. Ehl….

I had a laugh when Nocter and Eric met up. Oh my! battle time between two guys who dearly and desperately want Mystia. XD I had quite a laugh as the cold atmosphere between the guys just seeped out of the pages. Poor Mystia, stuck between those two.

Ah, and at the end we finally skip ahead a few years to Mystia grown up and starting school! Eep! I absolutely loved those chapters and I loved it especially because all the guys are now grown-up. I barely recognised Nocter for a moment there. Whereas most characters grew into their skin and just got a bit more adult, he just changed completely for me. I loved reading about the school, about the scenarios that may be coming, and then there was something at the end. Now I definitely want that next volume!

I feel for Mystia at times~ I mean, it must be hard to be reincarnated in a game and find out you are destined to be a villain. She is trying her best to solve the routes and get out of the death ones, the ones with prison, and all the others. But we see that things are altering as she does little things. Showing kindness to Eric. Being helpful to Jessie. Cooking for Nocter. They are little things, but they are changing the game and that means that Mystia is very worried. Because how is she supposed to know if her route is the right one? I just wanted to give her a big hug. Tell her to enjoy the moments a bit more and less worry. I get that if she does something wrong it is a big thing, but constantly worrying is also not healthy.

The bonus chapter in which we meet the head butler… and get some vague answers on what is going on with the servants. I am even more curious now about things. And I am also swooning because the butler is YUM! Sorry, but I just can’t resist a guy with glasses. XD

Sorry for the slightly chaotic review, I am just excited and this book was just too good! I had so much fun reading and I loved seeing the characters, read about the game, see Mystia make sense of it all. And on top of that fantastic art!

I would recommend this series so far~

I liked this one better than the first one, which is making me want to change the first book’s 4 star to a 3, because the male characters were WAAY to obsessive, but it was still not as bad as the first one? Not sure how to describe it, but I’ll try the next one when it is out. See how it goes. 3, solid I hope the next one is better, stars.

Mystia wakes up to be in otome game but she’s the villainess instead of heroine! Mystia is determined to change her fate. But will she be able to?

I found the story of it to be really interesting and unique. I was super into mystia trying to change her fate as villain and the kindness she has. I honestly just loved her character. I did enjoy the manga as while I found to it to be super cute and I am excited for vol 3! The only critique I have is that I don’t love how the characters are drawn to look really young though.

Overall I really like this manga and found it super cute and interesting!

Everyone is unhinged. EVERYONE.
Mystia, how did you manage to land yourself in such a tangle???
Levels of obsession are skyrocketing. Creepiness is climbing.

Still, am waiting for next volume to pass judgement.

I received an ARC of this manga, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mystia Aren is the daughter of a noble family. However, she still has memories of her past life. In her old life, there was an otome video game which happens to be the new world Mystia has found herself in. To make matters worse, she is now the villainess in the game! Mystia is determined not to die like the villainess in the game did, but she is afraid of messing up the overall plot of the game. As she tries to keep the game on track, she realizes she has a big problem--the love interests keep falling for her anyway!

While this volume was enjoyable, I thought it was not quite as good as the first one. I love this trope and I enjoy watching Mystia as she tries to follow the game's plot, but I had a few issues with this volume.

We get to meet the rest of the love interests in this volume, and we learn some of their backstories. It truly is similar to the layout of most otome games! I was also glad to see that we are finally caught back up to present day, so I'm expecting the story to take off from here!

This series is unique even though the trope is very common! Mystia doesn't want to be the villain, but she's trying to make sure the heroine remains the main character. As a result, Mystia tries hard to deter the male love interests who seem determined to get close to her. The storylines continue to shift and change, and Mystia isn't sure what she can and can't do. Events are happening that aren't in the game, and major events are being altered. She's concerned not only for herself, but that she'll ruin the happy endings of the love interests.

I had three main issues with this volume. The first is that a lot of the characters came off stalkerish and/or obsessive. One of them becomes infatuated with Mystia when she's 10 when he himself is 15, and that made me uncomfortable. My second issue was that this volume felt a bit like filler as it introduced the characters and their backstories. While I enjoyed meeting them, I couldn't help but hope we got back to present day soon. Finally, I have no idea what kind of world/time period this takes place in! There are noble families, arranged marriages, horses and carriages, etc., but there are also toilets, school lockers, and sinks. It's like the regency era merged with modern-day schools in Japan.

Outside of that, I truly did enjoy this volume! There were some things that happened here that have yet to be explained and I am super curious about their role in Mystia's fate. Now that we're back to present day, I can't wait to see how the story will turn out!

I recommend this to fans of the "reincarnated in an otome game" trope as well as fans of the reverse harem genre!

Thank you so much to the author, TokyoPop, and NetGalley for the complimentary ARC!
This review contains my honest and unbiased thoughts and opinions. 🌸

I'm a bit torn on this one... I enjoyed Volume 1 and couldn't wait to see what happened next but I struggled a little with Volume 2.

What I liked:
I really enjoyed getting more background details on a few of the guys. We discovered more about Eric and what happened that eventually led to Eri. Plus we got a little of the story from his point of view, from meeting Mystia and how her kindness helped him.

We also were taken back to a small piece from Volume 1 where Mystia helped a boy in need. We now know more of his identity and how he fits into the story.

I enjoy having backstories, have more understanding and knowing how everything fits together.

And finally, the past is caught up and the story truly begins at school, "present" day and where things really start. I do feel like the story started picking up at this point and even with all the struggles, by the end I was ready for Volume 3 to see how things continued.

What I didn't like/Struggled with:
I had the hardest time actually getting into the story/staying focused on the story. At times, I don't know, it seemed overwhelming? A bit too much going on, too much to try and keep straightened out, too much to remember/figure out/keep in place.

Again, I think now that the story is "present" day, things will truly begin and will improve. I enjoyed the story by the end of the volume and look forward to the next.

Today's manga post is on I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 2 by ATAKA. It is 192 pages long and is published by Tokyopop. As it is the second volume in the series, you need to have read the first volume to understand the story. The cover has two main characters, Mystia and Eric on it. The intended reader is someone who likes isakai shojo stories. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- From what Mystia remembers od the game, her character is spoiled, cruel, and despised. So why is Mystia's arranged fiance, Raid nocter, refusting to end their engagement, despite being fated for the protagagonist? Not only that, but the game's famed womanizer, Eric Heim, called Mystia "my lady" and declares he will mrry her. The only conclusion she can draw is that the game is bugged!

Review- This volume wraps up Mystia's childhood, I think. Most of the volume is about her relationship with Eric and how she influences him to be better. I like that Mystia does believe that the boys in life really feel that they say but she does think it is a glitch that she caused. The 'real' heroine should be in the story now and I am curious about how this is going to play out.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Mystia is a little too dense for me. She is oblivious to how she’s changing the storyline, and is so focused on the OG story that she can’t see what’s really happening around her. I understand that she has all of her previous memories, but her current memories should take precedence. It’s never occurred to her that she can avoid the bad fate by just being a normal person and she doesn’t have to try to unlock their various events. I mean, since only one person can win the love of the OG FL, isn’t it actually bad to encourage all of them to fall for her???

I do find it a little bit ridiculous when they talk about the back stories of the various love interests. Like Eric’s reasons for going into hiding were pretty lame. And Jey, who supposedly has a scary face but is drawn like a stereotypical bishounen, managed to trip over a sandwich board to the point where he was bleeding all over the place and the board was splattered with blood. It’s crazy that he’s decided he’s in mutual love with a 10 year old, and this belief persists for at least 5 years 🤦🏻‍♀️

The servants are the best. It’s hilarious how obsessed they are, and their hostility toward her suitors. The short story about the annual recruiting and how the applications are basically denied before even submitted was my favorite part of this volume.

Thank you to Tokyopop and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 2 by Ataka and Sou Inaida is the second book in the romance game fantasy series. The story revolves around Mystia, who wakes up in an otome game. But instead of the heroine, she's the villainess! The heroine is supposed to get the guy at the end, and the villainess is supposed to die. Will Mystia be able to change the game's unhappy ending?

Overall, I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 2 is an adorable and funny manga that will appeal to fans of the romance and fantasy genres. One highlight of this book is the story. It's really original to have the book's main character be the villainess of the romance game. I was really interested in the story because of that. If I had to complain about 1 thing, I would say that 2 out of the 3 main male characters are drawn in a 'young" style, which felt weird to me. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of romance manga in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in March!

I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway! Volume 2
by Sou Inaida is a fun and exciting read!

Mysteria is coming up with a different solution on how to avoid her fatal ending, but by doing so she involves a new character that has an even more turmoil route than the prince. And then the story finally takes us to her 16th year where the game begins. *bites nails!

This was an exciting read! I really enjoy the switching POV between Mysteria and the love interests. I was giggling as the newcomer for sure was getting the wrong idea and fell in love with Mysteria. He's my ship by the way!

The thing I like the best about Mysteria is that she's aware that the storylines for the male characters are changing and while she wants to prevent her fatal ending, she recognises that the characters have to stay the same or else they won't follow the path towards the heroine (and then she has no idea how to prevent the fatal ending!)

I can see how she will drive herself dizzy while preventing the bad storylines and still try to fix the ”bugs” in the game.
I look forward to the next volume!
