Probably closer to a 2.5 but as always, I rounded up. I have never read the original Boxcar story Mystery Ranch, but I have read other Boxcar books. I don't think this adaptation did the books justice. Although these books are written for children, I think the language used was too simplified and repetitive and the story as a whole didn't translate well to graphic novel form.
After reading a couple of these graphic novels, it's nice to see how close they are to the original stories. The adventures these children had were very popular years ago when they were first written, but they are dated now.
