Probably closer to a 2.5 but as always, I rounded up. I have never read the original Boxcar story Mystery Ranch, but I have read other Boxcar books. I don't think this adaptation did the books justice. Although these books are written for children, I think the language used was too simplified and repetitive and the story as a whole didn't translate well to graphic novel form.

I will need reread the original children's books to see if they're as... cliche? It seems a little dated in the gender roles in this story too.

The kids meet their great aunt for the first time and help go save her ranch. The first box car children book I ever read in comic book form.

After reading a couple of these graphic novels, it's nice to see how close they are to the original stories. The adventures these children had were very popular years ago when they were first written, but they are dated now.
