Beware the Poltergeist

Rate this book
Tom's life changed quite a bit since he inherited a Ghost Train full of living dead creatures. As the fairground is struck by mysterious earthquakes, even Mimi the ghost-girl seems to pale. Vlarad the Vampire has reason to believe that a restless poltergeist haunts the old town square. So, Tom and his undead friends have to go ghost-hunting—without anyone noticing, of course.

The second adventure of fourteen-year-old Tom and his ghostly companions is full of spooks, gags, and some surprises—a joy for listeners young, old, and undead alike.

I know this series is for children, but it's endearing. Monsters are cool at any age!

Another fun romp in this series. It was nice to come back to the same voices and to hear the theme song at the end. I'm still frustrated that Mimi instinctively hates Dada for the serious crime of daring to be another female character in the same story. As annoyed as I am at her and Tom just *having* to like each other, I appreciate how slow it's being taken. I was also not too taken with exactly how the issue between the ghosts was resolved and the moral that pushes, but I prefer not to use spoilers in my reviews.

I really loved the first one of these in the series and this one is even better than the previous one. It's got a full cast, music, and sound effects just like the first one. The theme music, which I can just listen to on repeat all day, is also back. This audiobook version is like a full dramatization but for kids or people of all ages.

I am honestly thinking about making these books an annual listen for October as one of my spooky listens for the month.

We have returning characters from the last book including the one that keeps adding the letter r to words that don't have that letter in them. He reminds me of the voice actor that does the English dub of Yugioh, but I don't think it's the same person. Which just drives me nuts.

All the voice actors do a fantastic job. The sound effects are amazing, and that theme song is so darn catchy! Again, it's like a full dramatization or a radio show. Because it is broken up into essentially separate episodes complete with recap.

I am really hoping that they continue to make audiobook versions of the English translation. I would really love to get the whole series in English as audiobooks. Heck, I would love to get notifications of when each book is about to come out as an English Audiobook. It'd be one of those books that if I knew when it was getting release it would be a no brainer to pre-order.

The translator, I think, did some really good work and I wish I knew who they were.

I love the new location of an old mining town combined with a ghost story. This book made me very happy.

This book picks up the story where A Crazy Inheritance left off and continued the laughs and development of Tom's newfound family. Facing off with a poltergeist, Tom and his friends have to try and figure out why earthquakes are occurring at a fairground and stop them somehow. And they have to do that while staying hidden from all the people who are there for the carnival.

I really liked Mimi's storyline in this book. She has been struggling with her inability to touch others
as a ghost, and she is now wondering if she will ever find her place.

Just as with the first book, I really liked this one. I am glad that I have book 3 to listen to, but I do wish that the later books in the series would be translated to English. These stories are so much fun, and I definitely want to know if Tom is able to fulfill the stipulations of his great uncle's will and get his inheritance at 18.

4.5/ I forgot how cute and fun this story is and I'm so happy that we get to see it expand! The relationships between Tom and all of the monsters from the ghost train are so sweet and funny and just so wholesome that you just can't help but smile when they interact with one another. Just like then first one, I love the full voice cast for the audiobook and all of the sound effects because it just makes the story that more immersive and atmospheric. I think my favorite characters have to be Vlrad for his wit and charm, Hoptep for his wisdom via telepathy and Wombie for his loyalty and love for his family, especially his toy rabbit. The whole family dynamic that I get from these characters reminds me of James and the Giant Peach because they are a band of unique misfit characters but they all grow to care for one another and always have each other's back.

The colorful undead cast of Ghostsitter—A Crazy Inheritance returns for another madcap adventure. This time fourteen-year-old Tom and his friends (a werewolf, a vampire, a ghost, a zombie, and a mummy) find themselves fighting to protect the denizens of a fairground from a monstrously powerful poltergeist—a spirit so strong it can cause earthquakes. They do so in their normal zany fashion, causing chaos and getting into mischief along the way.

This story is performed with a full cast and plenty of sound effects and while targeted toward younger audiences, the whole family will enjoy it. The actual story behind the poltergeist is quite touching as is the eventual resolution of the crisis.

This was a fun installment. I would give it a 4.5 stars. I didn't love it as much as the first, but it was still fun. The cast is fantastic. My biggest gripe with the first was that Mimi giggled too much. She doesn't giggle as much in this one. :) I'd love to have more of the books translated. My kids really enjoy them.
