"125 simple, delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to help you manage autoimmune issues all day-plus an all-new 10-day, 30-recipe reset to identify your food triggers-from the New York Times bestselling author of Fix It with Food. Short Description / Web 'About this Book' During the first few months of 2020, Michael Symon religiously posted "Symon Dinners" on Instagram every day to help his fans keep pantry-inspired meals fun and varied. The response was so great and his followership so engaged that creating a cookbook of simple weekday breakfasts, lunches, and dinners became a priority for him. In Fix It with Food: Every Meal Easy, Michael combines simple dishes for busy weekdays and meals that address autoimmune triggers for a collection of 125 health-supportive recipes. The chapters are divided by what trigger you're avoiding, including No Meat, No Dairy, and No Flour. If you're not sure what your food triggers are, the ten-day reset will help you figure out which foods to avoid. After the reset, Michael offers guidance about how to reintegrate foods into your routine. Through fan feedback, Michael discovered that most people using his first book didn't need four servings-most wanted just enough for two meals, so in Every Meal Easy, all of the main recipes yield two meals or enough for one meal plus leftovers. And since sometimes you have a crowd to cook for, Michael offers helpful information regarding how to double recipes when needed. Readers will also find a list of his favorite 30 anti-inflammatory friendly ingredients to keep on hand all the time and a master ingredient substitution list, so if you don't have kale or black beans on hand, you can swap in whatever you have in your fridge or pantry. With Michael's encouraging voice and flexible recipes, Fix It with Food: Every Meal Easy is a must-have for anyone who is looking to feel better without compromising eating well"--
This is a fantastic cookbook. So many wonderful, easy recipes to pick from. The pictures are outstanding. The ingredients are all simple easy to find, You may have most in your pantry already. I highly recommend this cookbook.
Michael Symon is one of my favorite tv chefs. This cookbook is filled with great recipes, all targeted at reducing inflammation caused by autoimmune diseases. While I don’t have those issues, I look forward to trying many of these recipes like the eggplant Parmesan and the coffee chocolate chip blondies.
Chef Symon has done it again, continuing with this sequel to Fix it with Food. He gets personal and real with his struggle with food and how it effects him physically. I just love Michael Simon, and I don’t say that because he is from Cleveland. He is genuine. If you struggle physically and with pain, this, and the first book are what you need.
I was skeptical making a few of these recipes, but most of the ones I tried were very flavorful. I liked a few so much they are going into regular rotation. I think the key is to not try to make them "healthier" with less fat/calories. That way they taste good and make the food eliminations easier. However, I did use spinach wherever kale was called for and taste preference changes worked fine. Got this at the library and it made it to the need to buy it to have around! Good stuff.
Having a few autoimmune conditions, I've wanted to get them under better control. Knowing dietary options are a thing to consider, I purchased this cookbook. I'm also a fan of Michael Symon's cooking in general.
This cookbook does a great job of categorizing recipes and showing the different stages of elimination and introduction. I'm keeping these in mind as I hope to get a better grip on my autoimmune situation.
Anyone with auto immune disease and inflammation problems knows how frustrating it can be to figure out what triggers the misery. I love how Michael has given you recipes to go 10 days trigger free and then slowly add recipes to figure out what your triggers are. I would recommend this book to help with inflammation trough diet. The recipes are delicious!!
Not very relevant recipes to my food interests. Several recipes including quinoa and eggs, which I do not particularly like. Some interesting recipes I might be trying, but not many. Also found it interesting that the Poached Eggs with Charred Onion recipe was under the “no flour” section, yet the recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of flour in it.
This book is a fantastic follow up to Michael Symon’s first fix it with food book. It is incredibly helpful to someone in my family who has issues with inflammation. I don’t, but cook the Meals and follow the plan as the food is delicious. I cannot recommend this book enough.
This is an enjoyable cookbook with many interesting recipes with easily accessible ingredients. There were beautiful photos for many of the dishes. I am planning to try several of them - Breakfast Muffins, several smoothies and snacks like Aleppo-Spiced Popcorn. I do recommend this cookbook.
So this is a great book for anyone with autoimmune or inflammation. There are a lot of recipes once you figure out your triggers. My big issue is the RESET phase. I understand why it needs to be done, but for anyone who feeds a family this won't work. My kids and husband will not eat much of anything in it. I'm already way too busy and stressed out with food to try that part. This is the problem with a lot of these reset type food eating plans, they do not account for families. I don't have the time or effort to make two different meals every day, multiple times a day.
I've had a few recipes from the RESET and they are good for me during breakfast and lunches, but not sustainable long-term. The book itself is well written. You can easily understand why this method helped Michael and why it may help you. It's set up well and the pictures are beautiful.
I'll end up adding some of these recipes into my daily life, but unfortunately can't follow the strict RESET plan.
As a person who suffers with inflammation I’ve tried numerous blog recipes and random Pinterest links that are somewhat reliable as to how they will turn out or taste. Luckily over the years I’ve learned some tricks but this book should be the bible of tricks. Im really pleased to have such a great chef create a cookbook I can use everyday and the food tastes amazing, is easy to make and follow. Sometimes simplicity, flavor, and savored moderation still make you enjoy life at the table more than an elaborate feast ever did.
This book has a great format with well thought out recipe plans. The recipes are nicely photographed with good comments and suggestions for substitutions. The focus on reintroduction with respect for individual triggers is an essential part of this type of food plan. Huge error on page 66 - Flair-up is not a term. It’s FLARE-UP. Shameful this wasn’t corrected.
So much love for this book! I am a huge Michael Symon fan and these recipes are easy and delicious. His pumpkin bread really tastes like pumpkin pie. It is dairy free without any white or brown sugar and uses whole wheat flour. I’m not sure why it is so delicious but it is! I highly recommend this cookbook.
Unless you have health issues, this cookbook probably isn’t for you. The 10 day reset is very restrictive and focuses on vegetables, eggs and grains. When proteins and gluten get reintroduced, the recipes improve. It’s not a cookbook I’d keep on my shelves but could be a valuable one for someone.
I love Michael for his work on Restaurant industry and for uplifting Cleveland's hospitality industry. I didn't know he suffers from auto-immune disease.
This book is a about developing a lifestyle to alleviate such conditions (this is not a medical disclaimer) and a food-driven approach.
