What a rollercoaster of emotions: happiness and sadness, anger, intrigue, frustration, helplessness, ignorance, enthusiasm, proud, powerful.
This would sum up in a few words my emotions while reading this amazing book.
Few people know who Antonia Brico was. ME neither, I have to say, though I am a huge fan of classical music and a violinist myself. However, this name was unfamiliar to me, until I read this book, of course.
Maria Peters, with an agile and fast writing, tells us Antonia's story for its beggings till when it ends.
Her story absorbs the reader in the 20s in New York where we meet our main character who we end up knowing so well.
With multiple pov chapters, fast-paced book, fascinating facts about classic music and about the world of music itself and how difficult it was for us, women, to have a place in its industry, Peters tells the incredible story of Antonia Brico, the woman that changed the course of music history, being the first woman to conduct an orchestra.
I am so grateful for now knowing her and what she achieved and did, and I honestly feel amazed.
this is a proof that women can do everything we want and more, that we need to fight for our dreams and do not let others get on our way to success.
I recommend this book to everyone because, who wouldn't like Antonia Brico?
You all need to give her a chance. You will not regret it, trust me.
