Cool and collected second-year Yamada is in love with his childhood friend, Seno. His classmates Akama and Toda are also starting to think about romance, though neither of them realizes yet that they might actually feel the same way about each other...
High school love in the spring of adolescence blooms with earnest, messy emotions.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Tokyopop for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
If I could describe this manga in three lines it would be: ♥ Innocence ♥ ♥ Puppy love ♥ ♥ Pure Friendship ♥
In Volume 1, we follow Yamada who had a crush on his childhood friend, Seno without knowing that Seno felt the same way too. Other than that, we also follow another set of main characters, Akada and Toda who are long time best friends who started to falling for each other too.
Here are my thoughts :
● This is so freaking cute! There is no unnecessary drama, no conflict, just pure innocence and fluffy romance. I read this manga at the perfect time, where I was looking for something cute and I got it!
● The friendship circle of Akada, Toda, and Yamada were so much fun to read about. They trust each other, kept on teasing about such unnecessary things which I absolutely love. It made me miss my high school life.
● In my opinion some panels could be drawn better but overall I really enjoyed this one. I'm looking forward for volume 2!
While there's nothing overtly wrong with this book, it also isn't particularly interesting. None of the characters stand out, which is a shame, because there is potential for most of them, especially the louder duo. But perhaps the fact that the two couples can be classified as "loud" and "quiet" is part of the problem - there's just nothing that makes it stand out. With as much manga as we have access to now, that's probably a greater sin than most.
Updated 3/27/22: This is SOOOOO cute!! Bumping it up from four to five stars because I enjoyed it so much!!!
Original Review 10/13/21: This manga was as cute as I thought it would be!
I really liked the characters, though Akama and Toda are the best! I'm already desperately wanting volume two because of how much I enjoyed them! They are so adorable together and really enjoy their banter!
Yamada grew on me as the volume progressed. I felt it was a little hard to get into the story at first because he's much more "stilted" (for a lack of a better word) compared to his very energetic friends. However, I LOVED the hopeful best friends-to-lovers romance! It's not an actual romance just yet, but a lot of those parts made me smile because him and Seno are just as adorable together.
This very much reads as a slice-of-life and a lot of the chapters don't have a direct lead-in to the next, but I found I didn't mind that. I found it to be pretty relaxing in how as the reader we know their downtime will involve a fun conversation. Though lots of "Awwww" moments when things go differently then I expect!
Overall, this was a great manga! I'm actually wanting to order a paperback for myself because I had such a great time! Lots of cute and funny moments and can't wait to see what's to come!
*(I received an e-ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts expressed are my own.)*
Adorable! I have volume 2 as well, so I’m going to read it next! It’s a sweet and episodic kind of manga. If you enjoy a Komi Can’t Communicate or Shkimori’s Not Just a Cutie, you might like this one too! 😉

I can see this story working for a lot of readers, but it didn't really work for me. Definitely aimed for an younger audience, and as someone who has consumed A LOT of shojo manga there really isn't anything new to get here. The characters don't have a lot of emotional depth to them and I think having four characters introduced at the same time, and trying to give them all equal spotlight in one volume more so leads to a shallow characterization with a lot of room for improvement. I also don't like how there don't seem to be a clear main character, it makes the focus of the story very broad, especially in volumes like these with 10+ shorter chapters. I definitely prefer the 4-5 chapters per volume format. Because it floats more nicely and it's easier to keep the pace. Here it feels a little jagged as some chapters takes place in the now, some in the past and the way time passes is different in the different chapters. The art is also not my favorite. But I can easily see younger readers who are newer to genre enjoy it.
This was soooo cute! Very wistful portrayal of young love, with really funny moments peppered throughout. The friendships here are just as wholesome! Such a nostalgic storyline, aimed at a younger audience. The art perfectly matches this - it's simple and cute. Nothing truly groundbreaking here, but it was an adorable read.

This manga was such a delightful surprise! We follow four people as they all manage their own feelings and crushes and friendships between them all.
I loved both couples! They’re both different— we’ve got a childhood friends situation and a best friends with crushes on each other but they both don’t know yet— and I love all of these tropes so much. This first volume ended on a bit of a cliffhanger before their first date and I cannot wait for the next volume to see how all of it goes!
This was such a fun, heartwarming and hilarious read and I am excited to see where it goes in future volumes! Definitely recommend if you like any of the relationship tropes I said above and a high school setting.
Love this cute and fluffy high school romance manga!
Sprint by the Window, by Suzuyuki, shows us the innocence of youth in our four main characters. They are all friends, and the couples are super adorable. I love how light and fluffy everything is, and that they all have friends that really love and support them.
The humor is on point, and the story sets a good pace. I'm excited to read the next volume!
First, I want to say thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the chance to read this Manga as an ARC!
This is such a cute story surrounding the two main characters story of first love, beginning when they were children. Seno reminds me a lot of Tohru from Fruits Basket, and I loved that Manga! I love how pure Seno is, especially her interactions with the bunnies. I also loved the interactions and the friendships between Toda, Akama, and Yamada. The artwork was also stunning and I already can't wait to read the next volume!
Si.

English
In my journey into the world of manga, this one caught my attention and that's why I decided to read it. It's so cute and sweet, basically what I needed after all the books I've been reading.
Main characters
Yuki Yamada is the protagonist, he seems quite serious but he has a humorous side, I loved his personality, I felt identified. On the other hand, Kaede Seno the protagonist is somewhat distracted and cute, I liked her character is so sweet.
Soooo they are childhood friends (what's new), he has had a crush on her since they were kids and she likes him too, but they aren't honest and it's frustrating. Their moments are very beautiful and I just want them to go out.
Plot
The chapters are short and it doesn't follow a specific timeline, also, it doesn't have a plot, rather it's Yamada's life and how he relates to his friends and childhood crush, it's entertaining, it has a little comedy, and is quick to read, perfect when you want to relax and clear your mind, quite cute. The art style is cute, the strokes are smooth, and the characters aren't so sharp at all times.
Side characters
Akari Akama is a friend of the protagonist, she's a very happy person and has a lot of energy, I like her. On the other hand, Yousuke Toda is his best friend, outgoing, and somewhat absent-minded but I liked his relationship with the protagonist. They are my favorite characters, please I just want them to confess their feelings, is this what the manga is like?
Final thoughts
It's a quick read, the story is cute and entertaining, the art style cute, and generally very good if you want to pass the time.
Do I recommend it? Yes.

My thanks to the author Suzuyuki, LOVE x LOVE, and NetGalley for the opportunity to get this ARC for an unbiased review.
Thank you to Tokyopop and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
First off, I was so excited to be approved to read this ARC! Tokyopop is the company that introduced me to manga, and I remember going to Barnes and Noble and hanging out in the manga section all the time. I have so many good memories of reading Tokyopop manga like Bizenghast, Princess Ai, and Fruits Basket, and I am so happy to support this company. Thank you again to the publisher for this opportunity!
Springtime by the Window, Volume 1 by Suzuyuki is an absolutely adorable romantic comedy that will appeal to fans of shojo manga like Kimi ni Todoke and Horimiya. The story revolves around four main characters. Yamada and Seno are the blond characters on the cover. Yamada has had an unrequited crush on his childhood friend Seno for a long time. Will he work up the courage to ask her to go on a date with him? And will Seno be able to return his feelings? Meanwhile, the other two main characters are brunettes Akama and Toda. They are the comic relief in this book, and they encourage Yamada to tell Seno about his feelings. Later, they start to realize that they have feelings for each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this shojo manga, and I am giving it 5 amazing stars! The plot of first love is absolutely adorable. This book is great if you want to read about the development of a relationship, from the beginning when he first asks her out to their first date. Also, there are plenty of gags and jokes in this manga. In particular, when Akama and Toda play the "I love you" game (when they have to say "I love you" until one of them blushes) is a super funny and cute scene. I would recommend this manga for fans of other shojo manga like Kimi ni Todoke and Horimiya. If you're intrigued by the description above, or if you're a fan of romantic comedies, then I highly recommend that you check out this manga when it comes out in September!
MY HEARTTTT- childhood friends to lovers? reciprocated? without conflict?? this is SOOOO cute and my cup of tea and i'm going to cry about it (as i do with most things). it's so fluffy!!!
Yamada is lovely and romantic at heart despite his stoic, deadpan exterior. i related to him a lot because that's exactly who i was in middle and high school. to everyone else i was the cold, reserved girl, but to my crushes...i was so obviously pining for them. Yamada also reminded me of my own childhood best friend, who yes, was the Yamada to my Seno. it gave me some nostalgia (UGH, made me realize how much i miss said childhood best friend) and made me miss the soft days of puppy love. i'm very fond of Seno as well as she more closely reflects who i am now: shy and well-meaning but pretty oblivious to the people who like her back. she's just too adorableeee!!
the other couple, Toda and Akama, were the perfect chaotic balance to Yamada and Seno's bashful best-friends-to-lovers story. i can't wait to see where the story takes them!
if you're looking for a light shoujo like Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 or ホリミヤ 1, i 100% recommend this one! it's so underrated! i can't wait for volume two!!
Wow, Springtime by the Window surprised me! This is such a perfect series basically and actually only two volumes long. Yamada is a stoic boy and everyone thinks he's cool and girls swoon over him. Yamada has a crush on his childhood friend Seno, but these two are too shy to confess their feelings. Then we have Yamada's friends Akama and Toda, who are basically goofy idiots and cannot convey their feelings to one another either, but in a different way. So, this sounds cliched, but it isn't! The characters are funny, cute, realistic and awesome personas. The whole story line is realistic too with good humor and we get inside the characters' heads. This is surely one of the best shoujo mangas I've read and I've read a lot.
The art isn't topnotch though, which kind of takes some joy out of reading, but it's easy to get used to. The faces look slightly wooden and bland, but gladly there are facial expressions to help with that. Perhaps I'd say this is ugly cute in a way? Still, the story is the thing and I loved it. Such a great one this is.
I received an ARC of this manga, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a cute shoujo/slice of life manga! Yamada has a crush on his childhood friend Seno. Akama and Toda, Yamada's friends, have crushes of their own, though they don't seem to realize that they both are developing feelings for each other.
I actually liked Akama and Toda more than I did the main couple. The main couple just felt kind of bland to me. Each chapter reminds me of a one-shot, but they do contribute to the story overall. The art is good, but I thought there were a few spots where it could have been a little better.
While I thought this was a cute story overall, I just had a hard time getting attached to the main characters. I might read the next volume since it looks like it revolves more around Akama and Toda, but I'm still unsure of how I feel about the series as a whole. I could see fans of fluffy and easy-to-read shoujos liking this though.
Content: a few suggestive comments, but nothing too bad
Thank you to NetGalley, Tokyopop, LOVE x LOVE, and Suzuyuki for the opportunity to read this manga in exchange for an honest review.
This is a cute high school romance that follows a set of four students who are friends, but soon seem to fall for each other. Seno and Yamada have known each other since childhood. Yamada only has a heart for Seno and denies other girls that ask him out. Seno seems to like him as well, but she can't seem to bring their togetherness beyond friendship.
Akama and Toda have been friends for a long time. They met Seno and Yamada in line at an ice cream shop. Akama has a crush on Toda and can't bring herself to tell him for fear of ruining their friendship, and Toda likes Akama, but he can't bring himself to say anything either! Yet perhaps a chance meet-up at the summer festival will bring them together? That is set up for volume 2, so I guess we'll see!
This was a quick, fun read with flavorful art. It was a very easy story, with a lot of cute and little dramatic or stressful elements that some high school romance manga has. A great first volume!
I received this ARC from NetGalley and TOKYOPOP in exchange for an honest review.
This was a super sweet read. Nothing too substantial but it was enjoyable. We follow Yamada, Seno, Akama, and Toda as they navigate high school and their changing feelings. Their friends are starting to look different to them. However, admitting that to themselves and each other proves to be a challenge.
In the first volume, we watch our characters work through their feelings mainly with themselves. In my opinion, I found them to be pretty realistic to how someone may feel at that age. There wasn't anything too substantial happening in this book other than day-to-day types of events that would happen in real life. It did, however, leave in a cliff-hanger type of spot. I'm super curious what will happen in volume 2!
Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I would recommend this to a friend. I'll be on the lookout for volume 2 to see what happens with Yamada, Sendo, Akama, and Toda.
ARC received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This comedic, episodic shoujo is a heartwarming look at four oblivious friends. Yamada has been in love with his childhood friend Seno since they were children, while Yamada's two closest friends Akama and Toda are both have feelings for each other and don't realize the other returns their affections.
The little vignettes in this manga pass pretty fast, and I laughed out loud multiple times. This has all the follies of teen love and obliviousness, and I enjoyed it quite a bit! The art style wasn't my favorite but I think it suits the silliness of the story.
One thing that did confuse me was the bonus middle school story at the end... had to whip out my detective glasses to see if Akari is trans or if she just used to be a huge tomboy. Who knows! Either way, I love a good over-the-top girl archetype and I'm looking forward to reading more.
Key words: shojo, romance, high school, slice of life
This was a cute shojo. I feel like it stayed in lines with the basic storylines of the genre. We have Yamada, the pretty boy, who is in love with Seno, who is kind of naïve and doesn’t see it. We also have Yamada’s two best friends Akama and Toda who are developing a relation of their own. I enjoyed this relationship between our side characters because I think they are just so adorable; quite cute and very funny. The main characters maybe touched me a little bit less because I feel like they are lost among all the hero/heroine shojo that I have already read about. Overall, even though it’s not a story I will keep in my heart forever for the moment, it was a nice read and I enjoyed it.
I recommend this manga if you are looking for a story with innocence, pure friendship and cute romance.
Three friends- Yuki Yamada, Akari Akama, and Yousuke Toda- are starting their second spring in high school. Akama and Toda like each other, though neither of them have realized it yet, and Yamada has realized he likes Kaede Seno, a childhood friend. Surprise! Seno likes him too! No one is admitting to this, however- at least, no one has confessed yet. The awkwardness, blushing, and almost-confessions are so cute and OH MY GRAVY WAS THAT JUST A DOUBLE CONFESSION IN THE RAIN?!?! ....I apologize for my outburst. As I was saying, this is cute and sweet and will tug at several of your heartstrings. I can't say this brought anything new to the genre, it does its job very well- this is sweet, adorable slice-of-life high school romance, and I loved it!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A cute, sweet and funny shojo with lovely characters. The story starts with Yamada a cool and smart second year student who is simply in love with his childhood friend Seno and he is pretty honest with himself and the others about his feelings, then we have his two classmates Akama and Toda who are friends but also start to have some romantic feelings for each other but they are afraid to express them and try to keep them hidden which is not that easy.
It was simply enjoyable and funny to follow this four friends with their journey through their growing feelings. I want to know what will happen next between Akama and Toda.
Thank you Netgalley and Tokyopop for the eARC! I loved this manga and thought it was such a sweet portrayal of first loves. I initially wasn't a fan of the "telling not showing" style it was written in, but it grew on me the more I read. The characters were great and had such distinctive personalities. Yamada's friend group is just so fun to read and I love their dynamic. Toda is such a goofball and he reminds me of my own boyfriend. All of the characters' expressions and reactions were so great. They were all so cute with how they attempted to confess their crush or hide it. I can't wait to see what happens in the next volume!
Yamada and Seno are second-year students. They are also childhood friends. Yamada is popular, especially among the girls. However, the girl he pines for is oblivious to his interest. Plus, Yamada’s friends and fellow classmates secretly likes each other… but they are oblivious to the fact, only Yamada knows. The story came off bland and dull to me. I had a rough time keeping interested in the story and characters. I understand that some people can be oblivious, but this got to be too much. Review thanks to Netgalley
This manga was alright as far as high school romances go. I liked the characters but I wasn’t like gushing over them or anything. I would have maybe given this a four star but it was just so short (140 pages of story) that it was hard to get into.
Also, I thought it was super weird that this book is marked with the “love x love” sticker on the back. I guess there is a hetero sign on the bottom, but I didn’t see it when I bought the book in store, and it just feels misleading to label hetero romances as love x love.
All that being said though... I’ll probably buy the second volume 😅
