Can Janet survive the heat of an alien desert? And the heat of the alien warrior who finds her?
One minute Janet is sliding into a snow bank. The next she is alone in the middle of a strange pink desert. Alone and naked.
When a huge, golden-scaled male appears out of the shifting sands, she is convinced that he is a mirage. But the fiery pleasure of his touch feels too real to be an illusion.
Sabros is preparing for his final initiation as a priest of Tetlana when he is snatched away from his temple. The desert in which he awakens reminds him of his ancestral sands. But his ancestors would never have accepted the delicate female who arouses all of his protective instincts.
The desert holds many secrets - not the least of which are the secrets of the heart. Which will prove most treacherous as Janet and Sabros make the perilous trek to safety?
Each book in the Exposed to the Elements series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy romance is intended for mature audiences only.
Listen up, people. I could read heroes like Sabrost all day, erry day. Sweet, eager to please, a bit naive, completely smitten? Hell, yes and thank you. A hero who’s never even experienced a kiss before, and his world gets rocked? Put. It. In. My. Veins.
While this whole series is worth a read, this is my favorite of the set (and a frequent reread). Sabrost is adorable and will do anything to serve and protect, but with none of the alpha possessive bullshit we see all too often. Janet is a sweetheart, confident and caring and fairly tough. Oh- and the language gap was done very well, imho, made me giggle.
Premise: a male (various races) and a human female are dropped - completely unawares - onto an uninhabited planet. It’s an experiment in repopulating the planet, or something, and they are given just a crude map and one usable item (varies)
What follows is each couple attempting to brave the elements and find their way to a central spot on their maps. Plenty of creative settings, adventures, danger, and interspecies sex. What more do you need?
They’re fun, light, quick reads with minimal dithering and angst.
3.5 stars - I really liked the religious angle introduced in this one! It's an under explored area in sci-fi romance, methinks, and I thought it was an interesting progression from the formula of the first book in the series
*October 2021* DNF 42% I guess I just don't like sequels. Or I just can't seem to shake my FREAKING readers block. This was cute, it really was but I guess I'm looking for more action rn.
*February 2022* Edit: Ohmygosh I re-read this and I absolutely LOVED IT.
So exciting! I’m getting quite a kick out of these naked adventures! Well, you know earth girls, they usually find a way to cover as soon as they can. Sabrost is such a sweetheart! He treats Janet as if she is a heaven-sent gift to be treasured. Janet takes a bit of time to trust, but he’s so caring and careful that trust comes quickly. The trials they face are unique and deadly. This makes for a splendid adventure and a divine romance! I have hopes that some of these couples will find each other before long. Who knows? I’m ready for the next escapades, Ms. Phillips!
Another two brings put naked on an unknown world with only a map each and one essential. Who are these beings who put this couple and the previous couple on this world to find each other and hopefully survive? The mystery continues but the romance is great. Waiting for book 3!
The second book and I still don't know why they are there. I suspected that they were probably taken to the same place as Torax and Jane but why so much mystery when are we gonna know what's going on?
This was a nice palate cleanser after a 1-star read.
While it follows a fairly standard alien romance set-up and execution (if you read loads of alien romance like me, you'll know what I mean) it does so well. I was never bored but neither did it grab me.
Sabrost we a nice MMC. Sweet and innocent while super devoted and capable. No complaints here. While not the most alien alien, I did dig his "design". Though, I also adored his focus on getting consent. Consent is sexy!
Janet was ok. I was a little disappointed by how little she offered to their partnership. He cooks, hunts, carries, fights, navigates, and makes fire. Janet... well, she's really good moral support. She also washed his wounds. Besides that I didn't feel like there was much to say about her. She took well to being stranded on an alien planet, which, I liked.
What we have here is basically Naked & Afraid in the desert on an alien planet! Sabrost and Janet wake up on an alien planet sans any clothing and very few resources. Sabrost was a monk before arriving. That kind of gave this story a taboo nature. I fell in love with Sabrost. He's described as a mythic warrior with a big body, golden scales, strange black eyes, hissing breath, and the epitome of male perfection. YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION. Sabrost takes very good care of Janet. She's definitely out of her element in the pink sands of this desert. This story was steamy and fun with a bit of mystery on the side. More books are planned and there will be more revealed about the scientists who are bringing each couple to this planet. Next up is a sea adventure! The Bare Essentials was humorous and spicy adventure. You'll fall in love with Sabrost, too! 4 stars
This was a very fun alien romance novella with a virgin hero who is an absolute sweetheart. There’s not a lot of time spent on building up backstories or lore for this one: you’ve just got two people dumped on an alien planet who’ve gotten survive together and of course it’s sexy survival time.
A great little novella I really enjoyed and one I’d recommend if you don’t want your aliens to be too alien (he’s basically a scaly human with fangs).
I still don’t know what I would do if I found myself abducted, naked, and with only a hot alien for company. These two seemed to make it work for them. I enjoyed getting to watch them overcome hardships, like language barriers, to find a place of understanding. The author added that extra evil twist that made the story so much more enjoyable than just a simple romance. This book was a quick little read and I can’t wait to read the next installment.
Vale, la razón por la que pasan los eventos... no es tan buena... Pero la historia sigue el patrón fácil y lindo que me gusta leer, así que no me importa. ¡Quiero más!
In book one, we have idiot heroine Jane plucked from earth and left naked on a jungle planet with Tarzan (a modified version of the name/hero). There's a two-page blurb about her previous life on earth, which conveniently had no family or real job or connections to leave behind before she's thrust into this survival scenario with an alien fleet commander and a pet monkey-thing. And when they meet, it begins the chorus of sex, sex, sex, sex - the end!
My hope was that it was a tentative and short first attempt at writing, and she'd take off and develop her craft, from there. Ms. Phillips did NOT do this, however.
This is book two. In which we have idiot heroine Janet plucked from earth and left naked on a desert planet. There's a two-page blurb about her previous life on earth, which has no real job or connections or family to leave behind before she's thrust into this survival scenario with an alien monk and a pet pterodactyl thing. And when they meet, it begins the chorus of sex, sex, sex... are you noticing a pattern, here?
So our heroine is a 'bad judge of character' and somehow finds her tiny, curveless, boyish shelf married to a player who lets her catch him with a buxom blonde - 'her total opposite'. WHY again would the player marry a little shapeless girl named Janet if he's into hot sex with voluptuous females?
Janet truly is an idiot. Her plan is to 'find whoever put her there and MAKE them take her back'. ??? My gosh, selfish moron lacking in diplomacy? She's *kind of* at someone else's mercy, and she doesn't even register that a little humility goes a long way, hello.
Then Sabrost gets a look at her, and... WHOA! For someone exactly opposite of the blonde her husband cheated on her with, she's... a blonde with 'large, rosy nipples'! ((say whu?)) Um...? Sabrost is floored. And for a virgin, he knows his way around a human body in a way most men just don't even. Prepare to suspend reality on this one, cuz... yeah, he's got a gift, apparently. /end eyeroll
As in the last book, somehow within 12 hours of meeting, the alien understands not just English words, but whole concepts like 'poisonous', 'forgive', or 'unacceptable' without ever having used such words. In her haste to crank this out, logic eludes.
Additionally, how can she hate on, berate, and castigate her husband for cheating on her when she spreads her peanut-butter legs every twenty seconds for the alien WHILE MARRIED? Pot-kettle-black? Adultery is adultery, hello.
It's NOT okay that she confiscates his knife and doesn't even let him use it when he goes to 'hunt' for them, either. Each of them were given a gift, and this selfish, spoiled brat doesn't look after him at all, or help him with anything. She's WORSE than the chick in book one.
Like in book one, food magically appears (even in the desert), there are no problems with digging out rock or falling through crevices, healing bays show up because the author wills it so... it's too convenient, most of it.
Unlike in book one, they never 'check-in' with the floatie 'them' creatures who are orchestrating this. And it's hinted that they're on the same planet as Jane/Tarzan, just a different biome, but we're never told, for certain.
Anyhow, these are so short and FREE, I'm continuing with them. To see if she might do better NEXT time. ((Not holding breath...))
4 stars… Really short but sweet. Anything Honey writes I enjoy. I didn’t read the first in this series and ik they are stand alones but the fact they are like experiments is a little confusing. I’m wondering if the first book cleared that up more or not but all well.
2/5 on spice. 2/5 on kink. 1/5 on tears. Cute fast read.

The Bare Essentials de Honey Phillips serie Exposed to the Elements libro 2
Argumento:
𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: Another sweet, cute, funny adventure! Two more alien strangers thrown together on an unknown planet in some sort of mating, bonding, survival experiment by weird unknown aliens that watch it all from some unknown location by using unknown abilities. (Tis a mystery!) I loved it! I also really loved the whole mystery behind that cavern and those specimens. Kind of eerie, and sad, and very curious. We get another cute and protective creature pal (pet) in this one as well! Sabrost and Janet were the sweetest. I loved their interactions. I loved his protectiveness and I loved how Janet was like a beacon of love even though shed been through a couple Earth Douche's in her past, as I like to call them, that would've normally made someone very cynical. I think both of them provided a new outlook for one another on life and relationships, as well as what it's like to be loved and respected. It was great!
*REVIEW NOTE: All of my reviews vary, but have a general outline/layout. Some are long, and others are short. Meter ratings determine how the content in the book affected me. They're not solely based on the actual amount of the content within the book, although that does play a role. Any books needing content warnings (imo) will be noted in my reviews. And any closed-door books (no sexual content) will also be noted in reviews.
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was vivid, with the desert coming to life for this reader. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals, if not especially nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and sweet. This novel had a heat level of four chili peppers. The plot was exciting, with danger and adventure elements. The pacing was quick. I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and high stakes throughout, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Alien Abduction trope, the Road Trip trope, and the Forced Proximity trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The development of the romantic relationship was also four stars. The characterization was three stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy romance novels where the only characters are the hero and heroine. I must admit that I am enjoying this series by the author less than any of her others so far. I am interested in reading the next book in this series when it releases because I have enjoyed this author’s other series so much. I will not buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I went into this second book of the series blind, having missed the first one when it came out. I thought maybe I had missed too much by not reading that one, but apparently, this is a standalone series where information about the ultimate who, what, how, and why behind the snatchings is doled out very sparingly with each book. If you are a reader who absolutely needs answers and everything wrapped up neatly every time, you may want to hold off until most of the series is out.
I loved Sabrost! He was so caring and gentle with Janet, which she needed. It was too cute at the beginning when Janet kept trying to sneak away and run from Sabrost and he kept carrying her back into the shade because he didn't want her to get sunburned or dehydrated. I also appreciated the fact that there was no drawn out 'I'm terrified and distrustful of this alien guy' period, but rather they figured each other out and set off to find answers the same day. Ultimately, their story concludes with them living their HEA, but they're still on the road to any answers, and I was a tad leery about the situation with the primary antagonistic element.
The set-up for the next book had me hooked, and the blurb is already out, which sounds amazing, so I'll really try to catch that one next month. Overall, this series has a super interesting premise, and I always look forward to anything Ms. Phillips writes. It amazes me how much imagination these sci-fi romance authors have!

4&1\2 fun fabulous stars! This series is an h a fun read
In book two of exposed to the elements Janet has just found out her boyfriend is a dirt bag and on her way to a cabin in the snow she ends up in a crash and wakes up naked and afraid in a link desert. Everything is strange and she knows for certain that she's no longer on Earth. Sabrost, is a golden skin make with reptilian like attributes who is about to dedicate his life to the goddess Tetlana as a monk. He's not happy but he is willing to sacrifice and do what is necessary if the goddess asks. He goes to sleep and when he wakes he too is naked and in the pink desert. When Janet and Sabrost find each other he is struck by her beauty and she is terrified of him . That is until he proves gentle mind and devoted to her safety. As they travel the dangers of the planets looking for the X that makes the spot on their maps, they find constant danger at every turn. They learn to trust and rely on each other and the bond between them strengthens and grows. Love becomes the tie that binds them together. It's an awesome adventure with danger, on going intrigue and love that heals, binds and conquerors all. It also furthers the mystery of why and who is behind their abductions and that maybe they are not completely alone. I highly recommend it will leave you smiling and impatient to see what happens next!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I really enjoyed Sabrost and Janet’s alien-human, forced proximity with a side of kidnapping romance. This was a quick, fun, and steamy read. What would you do if you are deposited on an alien planet while unconscious and all of your problems were far away and no longer important. Sabrost is Hsslak and about to become ordained as a Priest of Tetlana but is struggling. Janet is a human who just ended another bad relationship with a loser. They both wake up naked on a strange planet having no memory of being taken from their beds. They are each given a woven sack, a map and another tool. They have no information and no plan other than to travel to the location indicated on their map. Sabrost finds Janet soon after awakening and believes she is an emissary of the goddess. He is much better suited to the hot arid desert planet and they start traveling together. There is initially a language barrier but since Sabrost has an affinity for languages he and Janet are soon able to communicate effectively. There is attraction and chemistry between them which resulted in steamy scenes on the way to their HEA. Despite being short, the story was well written, the characters had dimension and the storyline was engaging. While the main story arc was resolved the mystery of who brought them and why is not completely resolved. I will be continuing the series.
A clueless human woman and an almost-priest are stranded together and...things get frisky! Being dumped naked on an alien planet with only one another to depend on for survival (honestly, Sabros would have done just fine without Janet, but she most definitely needed him to survive the wilds) tends to bring the frisky out in these couples.
Which I'm totally fine with. Totally.
So. Janet and Sabros. She goes from snow and cold to sand and heat and she's not really equipped to deal with it. In any way. Fortunately, Sabros is built for this type of terrain and the two of them do just fine once they team up.
And the longer they spend together, the more they both come to realize there's something brewing between them. A heaping dose of danger (in a pretty cool abandoned underground city) has the two of them realizing that something is worth fighting for.
I'm enjoying this series and these couples. A LOT.
Another sweet and steamy alien romp in this series
One minute Janet was skidding in the snow, off the road into an embankment and next thing she wakes up naked in an alien desert. She finds a reprieve from the desert heat in some rocks which is where Sabrost discovers her. Preparing to take his final steps towards a religious life he's still not certain of, he wakes up in the desert similar to his home planet. Janet looks like the deity he worships but his feelings towards her are anything but chaste. He convinces her they should stick together. As they make their way across the planet, they try to learn each other's language and spend just as much time learning each other's bodies. Sabrost is a virgin with alien anatomy to include a forked tongue and retractable male organ. He's a quick and eager pupil. The more time they spend together, the less they want to return to their lives. They also discover there is a less than friendly being who tries to capture Janet. It appears at some point they'll also meet up with the couple from book 1.
I couldn’t stop reading this book. I love the diversity of the authors characters. These characters are so different from one another that your just sure they can never fall in love or even have sex together. But this author weaves her magic over the characters so well that “you the reader “ feel the characters emotions so much so that you will not be able to put this book down. The character of the books premise will have you begging for the next book. I honestly have problems with books that are a series because the following books never seem to be as good as the first book. This author is absolutely capable of keeping you enthralled for every book, and admittedly the books so far have been better than the first one. I know that you will love this book as much as I did!!! Please try this book you will NOT be disappointed!!! Happy reading everyone, I’m off to get the third book right now. 😃😃❤️
Sabrost is at a monastery learning to be a priest but he has miss givens. That night he goes to sleep in his bed in the monastery but wakes in the desert. Janet is on her way to her family’s cabin in a blizzard because her ex didn’t purge the water pipes and she’s afraid they will burst when a deer appears in the road she try’s to stop but she is skidding off the road right into a tree. But when she comes to she in a desert and the sand is burning her. She scrambles into some shade. But how she get in the desert and naked. While resting and waiting for night that’s when Sabrost fines her but she keeps trying to escape and he keeps bring her back because of the sun. Soon they find themselves teaming up to get to the spot on a map but along the way they run into trouble and end up underground and then more trouble. So enjoy the read and see what kind and how much trouble they get into !!
