Take a journey into the sometimes wonderful world of Retsuko, the very angry red panda. Based on the hit Netflix show, AGGRETSUKO MEET HER WORLD contains three complete stories from creators Molly Muldoon, Kel McDonald, Annie Griggs, Abigail Starling, Danielle Radford, and Shadia Amin.
Retsuko navigates the worlds corporate committees, girls night out, and profession wrestling in this collection featuring Aggretsuko Meet Her World #1-3.
Molly Muldoon has been many things in her life: a preschool teacher in Tokyo, a Shakespeare MA student in London, an independent bookseller in Brooklyn, a librarian in training in Dublin and a freelance editor and writer in her hometown of Portland. The (unintentional) connection? Never be something that makes a ton of money. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her ridiculous cat, Jamie McKitten.
I love the Aggretsuko anime on Netflix, so I was super excited when I found out that there's some graphic novels based off of the anime. This story is the equivalent of three standalone episodes combined into one collection. The artwork is beautiful and the stories capture everything that I love about the anime. It made me so happy.
The Lonely Committee (story #1): 5 stars This story dealt with lonliness and exclusion. It was really relatable. The ending was sweet and funny at the same time.
Girls' Day (story #2): 5 stars This one was phenomenal. It was a feminist story that was filled with humor and it made for an awesome combination. The costumes in this story were also adorable.
Heel Turn (story #3): 4 stars I liked this one a little less than the other stories. It felt less deep than the other stories in this collection, but it was still a really fun story.
I don't know what I was thinking when I picked up this manga... but it wasn't what I expected and it doesn't match the cover - but I LOVED it!!! Set in a pretty sexist office space, the characters have to deal with office work politics (in an accounting firm) and with coworkers. I loved that the boss was a pig! And the owners of the company are elephants! Super cute manga, but totally more of an adult message/content.
This was cute and fun. It wasn’t my favorite comic book ever, but I love the show, so it’s a nice collectible. The cover is absolutely amazing and my favorite part of this whole comic, and I want it as a poster!
I enjoyed the journey into Retsuko's world and what her daily life is like. It was fun getting to know her and all the secondary characters. Seeing all their daily interactions with Retsuko was hilarious. The graphics were really cool too.
Cute and fun, though it felt a little preachy at times. Also it doesn't quite have the frenetic energy of the anime, nor quite the build up to rage. Nice quick read.
