Mosauran #1
The Edge of It All
As a Commander in the Terran space program, I never expected to wake up from cryosleep in a cage. When I’m rescued by a fierce Mosauran dragon warrior, I am both grateful and wary. Soran is a Prince of the Empire, and his species is one of the most feared in the galaxy. But the more time we spend together, the more I find myself drawn to him in ways I don’t understand. Especially since he’s working to keep me out of the hands of the A’kai master he rescued me from. The master who believes his species survival depends upon a cure found only in Terran blood. He will stop at nothing to recapture me in the hopes that he can use me to find my home world. I have to find Terra before the A’kai do—the fate of my people hangs in the balance. ***This book is part of a series of standalone novels that will each focus on a different couple.*** Steamy and no cliffhanger

The story and characters enjoyable. However I grew very tired and frustrated by the fact that the leads were constantly interrupted every time they were about to say something important to each other. I think the author did that to prolong the slow burn romance but honestly the way she went about it was a tad frustrating.
I will continue reading this series because it got me curious. For once the humans are sought after by the bad guys for their blood, not sexual slavery. There is also no "breeding/repopulating a dying alien race" plot which is a nice change.
All in all, I enjoyed this book . The story rarely slowed down. There was action and angst, some mild drama, a pinch of romance and lust and some humor.
Beware there is also quite some violence at the beginning until the female lead is rescued.

Heroine is a strong survivor
I highly recommend this book. Excellent world-building and dynamic relationships. I’ve read too many works lately where the heroine is just a doormat or becomes unbelievably strong suddenly without any explanation. In The Edge of it All, our heroine is a pilot with military training, a keen survival instinct, internal strength and a joy of life that cannot be subdued by torture or slavery. Later, she spends time sparring with our hero and honing her fighting skills. I appreciate that the hero is tough, strong and protective and also respects and defers to her. I liked the different alien species, and how some are more open or closed-minded to interspecies relationships. Great attention to detail. The plot, pacing and writing all impressed me. The book was as strong as its characters. I will definitely pick up the next book.

It all started with the love of the stars and a dream.
Liana and Soran were made for each other. This a love story that begins with Liana being rescued by Soran and his brother Rowan. Soran immediately recognizes Liana as his ashara. They stay on the run from the race that kidnapped her. They make friends and ally’s along the way. It all ends very good though. I don’t want to give away too much. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to more stories of the others.

Great book. Liana is captured by alien slavers. She has no idea where she is and where her crew is. She befriends another female and together they withstand torture. She is rescued by Soren who can coolly shift into a dragon.
They go through a bunch of crap and finally get their HEA.
The world building was good in the story. Lots of different types of aliens. I liked that the author made some of them to have similarities to things on Earth. Insect like alien, bad. One who can shift into a wolf and travels in packs, interesting.
The details of Liana’s torture are not given in a lot of detail, however, the author is able to convey the passing of time and the agony that Liana endured. I enjoyed the strengthening of the bond between Liana and Soren and how they understood each other through similar experiences.
Great start to a new series.

Thoroughly enjoyed
I very much enjoyed this book and after reading Elizabeth and Mareks story I am surprised I like this book even more. The whole universe that jessica has created is so interesting and im looking forward to more.

Loved this book! This author does not disappoint. Finally, a SFR where the heroine isn't helpless or TSTL and is strong without being snarky or sarcastic or annoying. The ending literally gave me chills because it was so amazing. I look forward to reading about the next couple in the series. I'm so glad Rowan and Tr'lani will get their own book.

Out of this World
I fell in love with this author's The V’loryn Series and was interested in reading more about the same universe.
A lot happens in this book and it has a lighter feel compared to the other series.
I enjoyed the writing. It flowed well and didn't big down at all. No errors that I could find. I'm interested in the future of the characters and how they will (continue to) connect with her other series in the universe.
I can't wait to see what happens next.

Action packed Sci-Fi
I enjoyed this Sci-Fi book. The plot was interesting and the main characters were well developed. I think the villain and some of the supporting characters were a little flat, though, which is why I didn't rate 5 stars. Also, warning for torture, violence, and reference to past and attempted sexual assault if that is triggering to any readers.

Beautiful, action-packed story
What an incredible ride!! Loved every bit of it, from the fierce determination of the heroine to not be broken by her captors, to the intense love and bond mate the hero has for her, its such a powerful story of overcoming a horrible past, pushing thru ones fears to find hope and joy once again in life
Possible triggers: There are elements of abuse, as the heroine is captured by slavers, is beaten and almost raped
Hero has never bond mated a female before, the most he’s done is oral, so both hero and heroine are virgins. There’s no cheating. And the ending is a bit abrupt, no epilogue but a HEA is implied...the story continues with other characters, so we will meet these two again, I’m sure.

The light at the edge
Liana wakes up from stasis to a nightmare. Screams, a horrible stink, and being told she is now property. The giant insect passed her off to another monster, who after stuffing her in a cell with a fairy hauls off a female from another cage. Finding out that slavery to certain species is a death sentence doesn't break her, she might die but she's going down swinging. As evidenced when the monster goes to see her to an A'kai. She wraps her chain around his throat and digs in. When Soran saw the tiny V'loryn attack her slaver he couldn't leave her to her fate. Mosauran despise slavery and their laws are to kill slavers on site. But Liana's blood has an unexpected side effect and the A'kai who was supposed to die lives and vows revenge. The race is on.
Spoilers ahead.
I liked Liana's character much more than Elizabeth. And, sadly, we only have 1 book with her instead of 3. No "running into the moors sobbing", Liana may be in chains but the fools only gave her a weapon when they thought they were trying to break her. Protecting her cage mate, one of the fragile fairy race, an Aerilon, and the hopes of finding her crew mates, is what keeps her fighting every day in hell. She thought she'd have to escape, she was never expecting a rescue. But 2 silver scaled guys are here, talking to the evil jerk who just attacked her mind. They kill him, grab her, rescue her friend and run. Now that she's able to breathe she's learning everything she can- studying starcharts, learning new fighting styles, learning to pilot new spacecraft, and learning the Mosauran language without the aid of her translator. This is a whole new world and she won't be a victim in it anymore. She's a survivor and a fighter. Trigger warnings for slavery, witnessing a female dragged off for rape and death but not the actual event, for scars and PTSD for trauma of her time as a slave but we don't live through it with her, and for her mental attack and near rape but rescue from it. All horrible, but mostly "off camera". There seems to be a running theme through every one of these books where it's continually coitus interruptus. Great when it halts the violations from going from mental to physical, but a running gag when it means she gets no alone time with her mate. There's a lot going on here I still have questions about.
*How have the gladiator fights not been shut down yet? They don't seem to move about. Aliens who are anti-slavery know they exist but can't seem to work together to stop it? It doesn't make sense. Their people are dying but they can't play nice together long enough to deal with this.
*These fueling stations have slavers drop by. They are staffed by races that have "kill slavers on sight" orders. So... Why are the slavers doing business and still breathing?
*Everyone hates and fears the A'kai. That seems like a really good reason to work together. Not a single race seems to be able to stop the mental attacks by them. Why haven't they tried to create something to stop it, some kind of tech or drug that would prevent it or stop it at the source? Again, seems like something to unit behind.
*Because this book ends when it does, we don't get to see Liana meet Elizabeth, her meeting with Terran leaders, her talks to the V'loryns, or further down the road. It would have been great to at least have a 2 part story line (her slavery and immediate freedom, and then her as a dual princess and world leader/foretold uniter), if not her own trilogy.
*So many races seem to be anti-slavery yet don't seem to be doing anything to actually stop it outside of their own airspace.
*The V'loryns, the Lycaons, the Mosauran, the A'kai and others all have been to Terra at some point. The vampire, dragon and werewolf myths are quasi-proof of it. Even if wars did halt their visits, starcharts would exist somewhere. I can understand the pleasure cruises not returning, but the A'kai knew what human blood did. I can't see them forgetting, especially during a war when it would have been greatly valued.
*Why aren't A'kai ships fired on just as a precaution? Known slavers, known mind attackers, brutal species with no redeeming qualities outside of strong family ties, why aren't they a "kill on sight"? Or even a hold, search and release slaves, and then destroy? Eventually their numbers would be reduced, they might even start to reform due to those low numbers, and their threat level would go down. Instead they're left alone to be bad guys and destroy.
*Soran calls the predators wolves. They don't have wolves, Liana didn't call them that in front of him or even through their mental link.
*50 years of ships disappearing and Terra has done nothing about it? They still have the whole crew in stasis, no emergency personnel or armed gaurds? No trackers implanted to hunt for remains even?
So, yeah, I liked this book more but some things don't flow for me. I liked the main characters more than the previous books and we get less time with them.

THIS STORY WAS EXCEPTIONAL. I WAS EXPECTING THE USUAL NO PLOT, JUST SMUT OR INSTA LOVE BUT BOY, THIS AUTHOR PROVED ME WRONG AND SHOWED ME HOW IT'S DONE! THANK YOU JESSICA GRAYSON FOR SUCH AN AMAZING STORY TO MAKE MY SUNDAY EVE.
SORAN is a Draken, another term for dragon shifter if you will but he's truly a Mosauran warrior. The story started off like any other sci-fi romance and I wasn't so sure how it will all play out but I'm glad it turned into something amazing. Longer than the average novel, the story held different levels of development. The beginning started off with Soran witnessing LIANA and her friend being sold as slaves to the antagonist of the story - an evil A'kai Prince who wants human blood after tasting Liana's. Apparently Liana's blood is a great healing substance for the A'kai. For some unknown reason, Soran feels compelled to rescue the female and later finds out that she's his ASHAYA (fated mate) and this troubles him because his kind doesn't mate outside their own species. To do so would mean he would become an outcast, royalty or not. Conflicted, Soran can't help but fall for Liana's beauty, strength, courage and the fierceness of her character that can rival any other Mosauran female. I liked Soran, and his brother, especially the part where he often puffs up with pride when Liana flatters his physique and attributes. The story was laced with humour, so it made the entire story lively as well. Soran's character takes a backseat to Liana's but he's as vital because he plays the supporting and protective role to Liana's - he's the emotional and physical buffer that she needs to withstand it all. My favourite scene is when their ship got attacked and their escape pod crashed on a planet similar to Alaska and boy, I'd love to have a handy Dragon with me if I ever land there too. The cold weather makes for great snuggling and skinship sessions, but what I truly loved is how that intimacy helped to weave Soran and Liana's relationship tighter than it already is. I'm just glad that it wasn't SUPERFICIAL but the author actually showed us how they fell in love with her words instead of TELLING it to us.
LIANA is a warrior in every way, I adored her character because despite the abuse she has gone through, she comes out stronger even if she thinks that she is broken. Her crew was on their way back to Terran from Mars, they were in stasis when their ship was somehow intercepted by aliens and abducted everyone to be sold as slaves. Liana wakes up in a cage, kickstarting the story and finds out that she's being sold with another alien with broken wings. Liana's a fighter and she protects her new friend fiercely, earning a forever kinship with the alien. When she gets rescued by Soran and Rowan, she's grateful and not afraid of these warriors that the universe seem to fear. Liana slowly regains her strength and confidence, learning this new world she's been thrust into and trying to survive each day while developing a friendship with Soran that eventually leads to more. I like the slow burn between them because I absolutely hate insta love. Liana proves to us everytime that she's no coward or weakling as she contends with each situation and also holds her own in a fight.
OVERALL this was a kickass story and I can't wait for the next book to be published! Meanwhile, I'm going to browse J.G's other books! Oh but I really hated how the author overused the cock-blocking technique of how more than 3 times, the MCs were gonna get hot and heavy OR one of them was going to reveal something important, the author makes SOMEONE INTERRUPT THEM. Once is fine. Twice I can deal...but more than that? COME ON. OVERKILL!

Fantastic read, New Series, and excellent length by Miss Grayson again. Five Star.
The Edge of it All, by Miss Grayson, is one of my favorite new series. This new series starter book does not disappoint one bit.
Liana is a human that wakes up to a nightmare in captivity. The last thing she remembers is going into stasis for the long journey home from the Mars colony. Not knowing what is going on, she finds herself in trouble and abused more than most. Her family has always had determined woman that knows what they want and can stand on their own. With the mantra from her dad's in her head, it gets her through the toughest of times. During her ordeal to the lowest of heartbreak, she stands the test of time, abuse, and loneliness until she meets Tr'Lani, a fellow slave, she finds herself fiercely protective of her and can only think of an escape for them both. Only time, knowledge, and an opportunity remain for this to happen.
Soran, a liberated slave thanks to his brother Rowan, both are Mosauan warrior and the great house of Mosaura, and by the way, makes them both princes, for their mother, is the Empress of their home planet. They have come to Vylas Station to refuel to make the journey to the homeworld. With V'loryns and Mosuauan both detest slavery, they can agree on this as a common goal, but distrust of each other makes it hard to form a real alliance any time soon. You see, the Mosauan's believe the V'lorynas are deceitful and duplicitous people, and the V'lryans look at the Mosauan's like a closed-minded anti-alien society that intend to keep other races from contaminating their gene pool.
When Soran and Rowan enter an eating establishment, Soran jaw drops when he sees two female slaves (an Anguis), one is an Aerilon(Liana), and the other is L'loryn(Tr'Lani). How foolish is the Anguis Master parading them in front of all the patrons? Both are severely abused and injured that is obvious and make Soran's blood boil and notices the Aerilon is not the typical body image he accustomed to seeing. A'Kai approaches the slave master Rowan knows, Talel, an opponent the left him scarred from his time in slavery. He intends to purchase both slaves and do as he wishes with them even if they don't survive his kind of pleasure.
Read as Liana, Soran, Rowan, Tr'lani worlds collide in this fantastic read, discovery, mystery, love, and sacrifices they all are willing to do in this excellent first book in the series by Miss Grayson. It is well written and thought out. This book also brings in the previously written V'loryn's series and I look forward when both books series and worlds can collide.

Despite its flaws, this is better written than the vast majority of sci-fi romance, especially with an alien MC. Actually, it’s because it’s well-written for its genre that I’m going to be so harsh on it.
I think it’s biggest issue is that it takes good story aspects and runs them into the ground. Too much of a good thing etc.
For example, I love that the FMC is strong and capable but there are a lot of scenarios where she’s too strong and too capable to the point where it completely disrupts my immersion because it’s just too unbelievable and/or stupid. I don’t want to call her a Mary Sue but she definitely teeters on the edge.
Another example of this is the level of detail. The world building is interesting but there’s so much detail added that it just bogs the story down in places. Conversely, there are parts of the story that are like mini time skips and the explanatory detail is missing- I found these parts to be immersion breaking as well because I’d have to flip back to make sure I didn’t miss something. Similar to this, there are a couple of events where the explanation isn’t provided until afterwards…. The pacing is odd to say the least.
Speaking of detail, we get quite a lot of it about the FMC but the MMC and the side characters began to feel like after thoughts comparatively. I would have liked to know more about the main side characters instead of being repeatedly introduced to more and more minor sides.
The last thing I’ll say about my main issue is the complete and utter overuse of the interruption trope. The sheer number of interruptions was comical at first and then just deeply, deeply irritating.
Finally, this a minor quibble but for reasons I can’t quite articulate the spicy scenes didn’t hold my attention. I ended up skimming them.
Overall, I did like the story and will check out the others in this series. If I had to sum it up, I would say that the experience was “frustrating but worthwhile nonetheless”.

Very good, but some issues
First off, let me say that the writing and editing in this book are very good. The MCs are strong, believable, and you want them to succeed. The secondary characters are very interesting, charming, and you want to read their stories as they are introduced. I recommend this book for sure.
So why not 4-5 stars? Sadly this brilliantly talented author fell into the trope of our MCs being interrupted again and again from having meaningful conversations and revelations by stupid interruptions. The first time, it’s comical. The second time it’s irritating. By the 10th time you realize this book could have been just as believable and 2/3rds as long if the author had just let things play out as they should have without random people and explosions interrupting important conversations. Seriously, the author was way too good for this trope, and way, way too good to have used it as many times as she did in this book.
That was a star and a half off the rating for sure.
The other half gets lost for our heroine’s stereotypical monologue to her mother in law, putting her in her place for her biases. Sure our heroine is strong, independent, and brave, but she’s not stupid, and letting her pop off to an empress was really out of character and just silly fan service.
Instead of interrupting all those important conversations and adding 100 pages of unnecessary adventuring, the author could have come up with a much better way for our MCs convince the mother in law to accept our heroine.
So this is a fantastic book with some near fatal flaws. I recommend it to others, but warn you there are plot frustrations ahead.

Loved it SO MUCH
This is one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time. Liana is truly the definition of a strong lead female character, which is usually displayed by mouthy come backs and not really knowing when to shut up. Liana is so much more than that- she faced so many challenges, abuse, confinement, slavery and the relentless pursuit of a former slave master that kept underestimating her will and ingenuity. Liana makes Soran, her big strong Mosauran warrior (with wings and scales who can shift into an enormous dragon) look like the soft and meek one. He is strong and determined as well, and survived many more years of slavery than she did, so he knows how to be gentle and understands her struggles with what’s happened to her. The differences in their cultures are tricky to navigate as well, but I found the way it was dealt with endearing and sweet. This is a wonderful story or the strength and resilience of human nature, plus a wonderful HEA. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

This captivating story used vivid, detailed descriptions in building the worlds, species and events that had me reading into the wee hours of the morning. Liana was an admirable, Terran woman. She had a strong will and mind and was one heck of a warrior. Even though she had been captured and was a slave for awhile, she was extremely brave and protective of others. What she accomplished throughout the book was amazing. I can't wait to see how her story progresses in future books. Soren was a Mosauran Prince and warrior. When he first sees Liana, he knows he has met his mate. The two of them had numerous challenges to overcome as they got closer together while trying to stay alive.
I really liked Tr'lani, an Aerilon Princess, who had also been a slave. She plays an important part of the story. I read this book in KU and will read the next in the series about Tr'lani in KU too although I am tempted to buy them both.

After being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Ms. Grayson’s first novel, Lost in the Deep End, I read The Edge of it All. Once again I was pleased to find that stepping outside of my usual genre did not disappoint. The main character, Liana, was lovable from the start. Her courage and faithfulness only serve to further endear her to the reader. So many other unique characters in this story benefit from the brilliant descriptions Ms. Grayson provides that I am inclined to want to see them on the big screen – or at the very least learn more about them in subsequent novels. Other characters are not so lovable, but they and their actions are so well described that my repulsion was manifested as a physical sensation of nausea. I am looking forward to seeing where the characters in this story go from here.

*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content
I really liked the similarities between the alien, Soran a big strong Mosauran Warrior, and a dragon shifter. Many of these aliens in this story resemble what we might think of as a paranormal creature which to me, gives the impression that aliens have visited our planet and given humans these impressions. There was a fair amount of world building here giving a beautiful picture of different places in space and NOT so beautiful. There is a lot of story here, so it's easy to get to know and connect with these characters. There are sex scenes but they aren't NUMEROUS and they aren't brutal. I think this book was well written. It was well edited and I'd recommend it.

Liana & Soran

DNF - quit at 27%
I can't put my finger on why this book didn't hold my attention, but it just didn't. Others may like this book, but I got bored, and didn't want to continue. I couldn't make myself pick it back up & was looking for other things to do instead of reading it. At that point, it was time to throw in the towel on this book. The world building is a bit light, and the main characters seem flat & unmemorable for me to the point I quit. The story seemed to flow really slow.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

What a ride!
This book has a true, strong heroine. She's fierce, she fights the enemies, she comforts and protects those who need it, she understands and accepts her feelings, she isn't afraid to speak her mind and she manages to do all these things without going psycho or getting whiny. It's a slow burn romance with friends to lovers but the story revolves more around the adventure. It has humor, love, angst, heartache, gritty scenes (non sexual) and nice world building. The hero is pretty awesome to! He's not a bully demanding attention or affection but he's fiercely protective; he's also a dragon and you can't get much better than that!

4 ⭐️
I read this so I would have Liana's story before she shows up in the V'loryn series - pleasantly surprised, but didn't love it as much as the others, it was definitely darker
– Dual pov
– Dual virgin
– Alien/dragon-shifter H/human (badass!) h
– No cheating or OM/OW drama
– HFN ending + no epilogue but will see them later anyways
– Possible triggers:

Great Reading
The story was very interesting. I could visualize how they all looked. The description of everyone and everything was great . That two people from different worlds, who's suffered the same pain came together to make each other stronger was outstanding. I look forward to reading more about this world.

Better
I liked this story better, simply loved the female & how bada*s she is. No, whiny oh don’t kill those evil people that just tortured you. Nah she is so awesome she kills them herself, even rescues him twice! Yeah totally girl crushing here. Loved at how he loves how fierce she is, totally proud to be the mate of such a strong female.

Beautiful Dragon Shifter Romance. Loved how the relationship developed between Soran and Liana and how strong Liana was. The world building was great and felt really immersive. This book was beautiful and even made me tear up in a few places. The ending was perfect. Cannot wait to read the next book about Tr'lani and Rowan.

I really enjoyed this romance. They did not immediately jump in the sac but it had a great relationship building g story line and lots of action and world-building. I did not love the way the characters were always interrupted at inopportune times…it got old after a while. But all in all a great read.

Just amazing
This was an amazing story. It was written well and the flow of good character development was awesome. I hope that you continue the series. I'm excited to see what happens not only with more characters in this series but also the series with Marcus just in some amazing writings.

I’m glad this story was 1 book
The first story of the V’loryns was way too long. This love story between the Terran Liana and Soran prince of the Mosaura. This gives us more details on the major species. It also shines a glaring light on the horrors on the not so hidden slave trade. It ends with a glimpse of what I hope is how this set series ends.
