New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the second stand-alone novel in a thrilling new sci-fi romance series full of action, humor, and happily-ever-afters.

Listening Length: 12 hours and 31 minutes

Eliana's life has never been what one might term ordinary. At least, it hasn't been for a very long time. As a powerful Immortal Guardian, she spends her nights hunting and slaying psychotic vampires that most of humanity doesn't even realize exist. Then an opportunity arises that instantly makes her extraordinary existence seem downright boring. The leader of the Immortal Guardians asks her to guard a group of mortals who are embarking upon a voyage across the galaxy to the planet Lasara. How could she possibly say no?

In no time at all, Eliana is hurtling through space on board a Lasaran battleship and getting to know not one but two alien races. It's the most exciting adventure of her long life... until the ship is unexpectedly attacked. Amid the chaos and destruction that follow, she valiantly helps everyone she can before an explosion renders her unconscious. When Eliana awakens, she finds herself alone, floating in space, clad only in a spacesuit, with no ship in sight. Alone--that is--except for the warm, deep voice that carries over the comm in her helmet.

Commander Dagon and the crew of the Segonian battleship Ranasura respond to a distress call from their Lasaran allies and join a massive Alliance-wide search-and-rescue mission. He quickly achieves communication with a lone Earthling female and races toward her. Every time they speak, his fascination with her grows and he becomes more desperate to reach her before her oxygen supply runs out. Her strength, bravery, and humor entice him, even more so when she defies all odds and they meet in person.

As he and Eliana embark upon a quest to find her missing friends, a bond swiftly grows between them that deepens with every laugh and smile and tender touch they share. But they are not the only ones searching for Earthling survivors. When Eliana herself becomes the hunted and their enemies begin to close in, can the two of them fight their way to victory, or will their enemies take everything?

Can’t wait for this book to come out. The teaser at the end of the Lasaran!! Omg

Edit 8/5/20: I find myself just randomly thinking about this book at least once a week. The teaser has me so hooked. Updates from Dianne’s reader group are that this book is due prior to the end of 2020, so we should have it this year :)

Edit 11/1/20: Dianne has finished writing the book! It’s with her editor and they are getting Kristen Potter scheduled for narration. We should have a release date and pre-order soon!!

Edit 1/20/21:

I think I had a stupid grin on my face for the vast majority of this book. This was a really fun read!

For me the only drawback was that Eliana is such a ‘bruh girl’, it works for story since she’s just hanging out with dudes the whole time talking about weapons and eating (and has been doing that for centuries). But it was a little over the top for me 😅 I’m sure a lot of people can identify with her and this was a super realistic portrayal of a bruh girl, but I couldn’t see myself hanging out with her at all. She’d probably drive me nuts in reality, but like I said it worked for the story. I loved the Segonians, I loved the premise of the story and the plot, I loved Dagon, and as always adored the world-building that Dianne brought to this story. I can’t wait for more in this series!

I wish there was a preview for the next one at the end of the audio so I could be tormented for another 6 months 🤣🤣🤣

1/22: 3 stars

I was really looking forward to this book. I loved the teaser at the end of The Lasaran and I really enjoyed the Immortal Guardians series, but I have to say this was disappointing.

The writing was fine, but the story was very meh. The characters honestly kinda boring and the book was repetitive. The amount of time that Eliana just said “Cool, I want one” and spoke about spicy food was just too much. I get making it a joke, but honestly the entire book is the same thing every chapter. At 70% I was confused because there was very little action or conflict that was pushing the story forward. I mean Eliana and Dagon had 0 relationship conflict – not even a hint of cultural differences. And in regards to external conflict, there was a lot to left wanting.

The very beginning was good when Elianna was rescued, but it was a downhill slope from there, until the very end when it picked up a little. I will still pick up the next book and hope it’s about Janwar!!

Update 1/9: How is it not January 19th yet.

Update 11/14: I swear I keep checking to see if the release date has changed because I’m hopelessly wishing that this will come out earlier. I’m so pumped & that cover! Ugh, please give this to me now.

I CANT WAIT OMG. Based on the teaser at the end of The Lasaran, I’m going to love this one.

This is the second audiobook in the Aldebarian Alliance and it picks up exactly where The Lasaran ended. While this is a spinoff of the Guardian Immortals series, this series holds its own and takes us into deep space where we meet new worlds, new races, and danger.

I love this series from the ships and technology to the characters, camaraderie, humor and passionate romance.

Eliana is this wonderful combination of heart, warrior and honesty. Not spiteful, she just blurts out her thoughts. From her appetite to her skill set she made me laugh, cheer and hope for her happily ever after. I adored Commander Dagon from his romantic side to the respect he gives Eliana. His crew respect him, but I also loved how Eliana softened him. Secondary characters from invaders to crew members added humor, tension, and a second romantic thread.

Duvall transported me and listening added a whole new level of enjoyment. Kirsten Potter did a stellar job of capturing Eliana’s vivacious personality. I loved the voice she gave to Dagon, the crew and others. Her pacing, tone and vocal abilities made an already amazing story amazing. Duvall’s writing style transfers to audio well from dialogue to imagery.

While this is Eliana’s story, there is an overall ARC involving a threat to all worlds, including Earth. You’ll want to grab your earbuds and download this one! This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This story was the bomb. After my experience with The Lasaran, I had high expectations for The Segonian and Duvall did not fail in her delivery. Add in the narration by Kirsten Potter and I found myself transported to a fascinating world filled with danger, romance, humour and wonderful discoveries.

The Segonian, which told Eliana and Dagons’ story began where The Lasaran ended. The reader received a brief introduction to Eliana, an Immortal Guardian, in The Lasaran and was delighted with her vivacious and protective nature.

The first twenty percent took me on quite an emotional journey. This aspect of the story was so emotionally charged that even though I knew the outcome would be favourable, it brought tears to my eyes.

Spending time with Eliana proved a delightful experience. A warrior at heart, who lived for a battle and not afraid to kick her enemies’ asses. She was courageous, resourceful, strong, honest, outspoken and knows how to roll with the punches. Several times throughout the story she had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed her interactions with Dagon and his crew members.

I enjoyed getting to know Commander Dagon, who was the epitome of a true gentleman. I admired the respect he showed Eliana. A strong but aloof leader who gained the respect of the men he commanded due to his stellar leadership skills. I adored the romance which developed between he and Eliana. Passionate, steamy, sprinkled with a dollop of sweetness. Dagon and Eliana balanced each other, which made them the perfect couple.

The story ended on a cheerful note. However, the threat to the galaxies, including earth, is ever present.
Listening to the audio version for this title enhanced my enjoyment of the story. Kirsten Potter did an excellent job in her portrayal of each of the characters. She brought the story to life by injecting the perfect balance of emotions and tension into the narrative.

If you are looking for a new series to dive into, then look no further. The Aldebarian Alliance series has proven to be a wonderful treat. So, whether you choose to listen or read, this would make a great addition to your library.

*2.5* I loved the idea of this story so much, but the immaturity of the h completely ruined this for me. For being an immortal over 600 years old, she's acts like an adolescent trying to impress all the boys. I think she said "that's so cool, I want one!" about a thousand times. The romance felt really flat and I was so bummed about the overall story. It could have been SO GOOD with a much more mature h, and a storyline with something actually happening!

I have mixed feelings about The Segonian. I knew the next story in The Aldebarian Alliance series would be a hard act to follow after bk1. The Lasaran.

For me the first half or more of the story moved slowly. I am not sure I like the way Eliana was portrayed. She acted at times like a kid let loose in a the candy store. Immature! I couldn't take her serious.

I loved Dagon and all of the Segonians. I would have liked to have the story centered around them landing on there home planet and how Eliana adjusted to life there. The rescue of Ava and Jak'ri was at the very end of the story and was just to brief!! It could have been more written there. I really don't like torture of women or men. Ava was tortured. So i have mixed feeling about The Segonian.

Kristen Potter gets 5 stars she is an Excellent Narrator!!

It’s Lost In Space 2021! 😂
I watched the series on telly eons ago, but I love more the 1998 cinema version with Gary Oldman in it, 😍😘.

So, Eliana is really lost in space and Dagon tried very hard to find her before she ran out of the oxygen, which she did. That’s part of story is very interesting.
However once she was on the ship, nothing much happened, just more about she familiar herself with the crew and the ship. And Dagon is too bloody sweet for a hero and tad boring for my taste! 😬

Luckily around 60%, the story picked it up and I enjoyed it again.

I hope we will get book #3, with Janwar as the hero! 😘
Janwar, is the Jack Sparrow of the Space, if you know what I mean 😘😂

5 star story 5 star Narration by Kirsten Potter. Excellent second book in this spinoff series from Duvall’s Immortal Guardians. It takes place in outer space for the most part.

When an immortal guardian female meets a Segonian warrior captain sparks definitely fly and romance isn’t far behind. After the spaceship she’s in is totally blown apart, Eliana finds herself clad only in a spacesuit and is drifting in space by herself. Dagon is on the ship that first hears about the ship exploding and is searching for survivors. Only vaguely aware of where she might be, he searches well past the time she normally should have died due to lack of oxygen. He has gotten to know her via her radio communication and knows he needs to find her. This the story of what happens next for the couple.

I loved the characters and the way the author writes. Very imaginative at times, full of action and romance, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with this book. Can’t wait for the next one. Highly recommended!!

Love it

I absolutely love this amazing story.
It has everything you could want in a space adventure . It has action, danger, humor, aliens, great secondary character and a great couple that makes this story so good that I couldn’t put it down.
This series is going to be just as good or even better than the Guardian Immortal series.

I have been anxiously awaiting this book since I read the preview for it at the end of the first book, and what a preview it was! I'm happy to say that it was as good as I had hoped it would be. I absolutely loved it! Eliana and Dagon were fantastic characters and a great couple. Their story was both entertaining and endearing. I loved everything about it and I cannot wait to read the next book!

Yes! 👏 This is my type of science fiction romance!

Action, action, humor, and some love. 😍💕 This has been a thrilling and exciting adventure! Geez! All the different feelings! I couldn't wait until midnight for just a few pages. Needless to say, I went through the work day without sleep. Even in the slow pace moments, one could not walk away. This is an exemplary novel. The five star 🌟 rating system is too low.

When it comes to science fiction and romance, Dianne Duvall is the best! It's action packed, plots that keep you on edge; and a storyline that makes you feel so many emotions! No, I haven't slept. So, if I repeat myself, forgive me; brain... not working right at the moment.

The love story was.. WOW! 😋 Imagine being in the expanse darkness, knowing you have no one. All you have is a voice to give you hope. That all you can look forward, is for that voice to keep you calm when you're all alone. I think their romance was so "perfect"; because they got to try to learn about each other. Yes, they already looked forward to each other's presence. But being "similar", does not mean " same". Learning about each other is what I appreciated most of this romance. Wanting something or someone, and be willing to adapt to their differences. ❤💕

I seriously expect more books to come (soon as possible). The diverse and amazing characters aboard the Segonian space ship made me want to know more about them. Oh, there is LOTS of action! It makes for an adventure that keeps you on the edge. Wish this was a movie. The Lasarans, the Segonians, the Purveli... And the smelly Gathendiens 🐊 made some interesting characters. Even the life in the planets is incredible.

Seriously, understanding who is your enemy, and who are your allies made for a gripping story. Had forgotten I had pre-order the Audible as well. That's what I meant I couldn't put it down. Text to speech at work. I enjoyed how Eliana and Dagon came together. Hope Ava and Jak'ri are next! And everyone else has a book as well! And even if author doesn't have a book yet, please 🙏 let us pre-order and take our money. What makes the writing special, is that it isn't aimed solely towards the female audience. There's passionate romance, and intense action. Well, time to start the series again with my Audible. Starting the "Immortal Guardians". 😍 Must say, this was by far the best. Well, maybe I'll do Audible first. So sleepy I'm not even hungry. Damn, loved this book!

To the author: I WANT MORE!!! 😋📚💕

Paranormal alien romantic thriller

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall.
Holy cow, not to sound like some sort of fan geek but this book is absolutely everything I wanted it to be.
To obtain the best read it is better to start at the very beginning with A Sorceress of His Own because not only are those two books fantastic they also provide the opportunity to see the backstory develop leading into the Immortal Guardians series and then onto the current book after The Lasaran.
Dianne Duvall is outstanding in this genre (a bit of a mix of every genre you can think of!) Her writing style is so easy to fall into, the written word becomes your world and it's just not possible to put the book down.
The characterisation is excellent, I have laughed and chuckled and cried at the next paragraph and all the while rooted so hard for the characters anyone would think I knew them.
Isn't that just the beauty of a good storyteller.
There are some sex scenes and some swearing as well as some violence so not suitable for young readers or those of a prudish nature.
I can't wait for the authors next release and can only ask that it be soonl

Drama, Action, Romance, Humor & just amazing!

The Segonian is worth the wait, as are any of Dianne Duvall's books! This book takes you through a gamut of emotions, has action throughout & you will NOT regret choosing this book to read. The Segonian is such a fantastic read, it's a love story that's also filled with amazing, very imaginative types of alien's, their technologies & planet discriptions. This book can be read alone but is a MUST for Dianne Duvall's "Immortal Guardians" fans. For me, I totally loved this story especially the last chapter. :)
Utterly fantastic job Dianne Duvall!!! I cannot express my appreciation for your story telling abilities, this book is just incredible. <3

Dianne Duvall has been a one-click purchase for me since the beginning and this new series is just as good as the Immortal Guardian series. Of course Dagon is as yummy as all of her heroes, but Eliana stole the show for me in this one - her interactions with the crew of the Ranasura had me laughing out loud at times. Highest recs and if Dianne's writing is new to you, congratulations. You have a ride ahead of you!

After meeting Eliana in Broken Dawn and reading the first few teaser pages after The Lasaran, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on The Segonian and once again, Dianne Duvall didn’t disappoint me. The Segonian dives further into Dianne’s unique galaxy far, far away, introducing us to even more interesting characters and shows the galaxy just how much fun an Earth girl can be.

In Broken Dawn, we met Eliana and were delighted by her lively nature and humor. She does what she can to protect her fellow Immortals and even plays matchmaker so her friend Nick can find happiness. In The Lasaran, Seth chose Eliana to act as a guard for the female gifted ones who want to travel to the Lasaran home world to create a new life but the ship was attacked by the Lasaran’s enemies while traveling in what we would call a worm hole leaving the escape pods to be jettisoned out and scattered along the galaxy making rescue even harder as their allies try to locate all the missing Earth women.

In The Segonian, after getting all her charges to escape pods, Eliana helps get as many of the Lasarans on the ship to escape pods as well. As the ships shields begin to fail and an explosion knocks Eliana unconscious, she was stuffed into a space suit before the ship exploded.

Eliana awakens after hearing a call from a Segonian battleship searching for survivors. As she comes to, Eliana has to face something more frightening than any battle against vampires or mercenaries has ever spawned. Eliana is drifting alone in a spacesuit with only 22 hours of oxygen and the closest ship is nearly a month away. Okay, since this is a SciFi romance, I am not giving anything away by saying Eliana will use her Immortal strength and abilities to survive until Segonian ship can reach her, because it would be a really terrible story if she didn’t, but every time she spoke with the Dagon, the Commander of the ship, knowing they couldn’t get there any faster was torture to Eliana, the crew and to us, the readers. As the crew raced across the stars and spoke to other rescue ships, they learned more about the brave woman who put others before her own safety, even asking the Segonian crew not to risk themselves to try and get to her sooner. Even though they all knew there was no real chance of Eliana still being alive by the time they could reach her, they couldn’t just leave this brave woman to die without trying to get to her and every time they reached out to her, they were amazed she was still alive. This was only my second audiobook from the Dianne Duvall series but I am glad I was listening to Kirsten Potter’s presentation through this because she really brought out the tension felt both from Eliana and the crew and when Eliana tries several times to record a message for Seth in case she doesn’t make it, I was tearing up as much as Eliana.

This whole first section was so well written. We knew Eliana had to survive and be rescued but every conversation between her discovery and her actual rescue were equal parts wonderful and painful. It obviously sets up the meet between the main characters and in such a way that they immediately bond and we get a strong understanding of their basic characterization: Eliana’s bravery and temper, making jokes and lightening the mood even when terrified; the mettle of Commander Dagon and the crew that they would continue on what they would believe is a worthless quest to rescue a woman who couldn’t be saved.

Not only does Eliana’s bravery and wit win over the crew but also her kindness in the simple fact that she personally thanks every member of the crew, from Commander Dagon to the maintenance crew, for coming to her rescue. Even before her rescue, Eliana has become one of them and it doesn’t take long before Commander Dagon isn’t the only Segonian enamored by this tiny warrior who is nothing like the volatile, selfish Earth creatures they have been warned about.

But finding and rescuing Eliana is only the beginning of this story. Even after floating for a month before she was rescued, Eliana then finds out that none of the other Earth woman have been recovered by the Lasarans or their allies. With only two months of life support in the escape pods, the rest of the Eliana’s charges are now running out of time and Eliana feels responsible for each and every one of them.

We meet some amazing new characters aboard the Segonian ship, as well as some interesting new aliens, along with tons of alien technology (all of which Eliana wants to get her hands on). We will also get our first look at the bad guys of this series, the Gathendians. I have no idea who Dianne will be introducing us to next, but I am absolutely looking forward to more adventures in the Aldebarian Alliance.

Dianne Duvall is my favorite author and she doesn't disappoint in her new series. The crossover to space is a creative work of art. Dagon and Eliana are perfect together. Everyone on the ship is amazed at her abilities and its so Eliana to have made friends with everyone. The trials in order to save Ava from the Gathendians is astounding. But Eliana and Dagon get closer and closer. I think they have found their life mates. He becomes protective but allows Eliana to do what she does best. Kill the bad guys. The book is fully of twists and turns and lots of action. Yes. The sex is there too. Its funny when she wakes up and can't see him because he's invisible. You will love it. Just go along with authors imagination and you'll love it.

Woo-hoo for space heros!!!

High octane adventure from start to finish awaits you in this book! With an abundance of imagination and evocative imagery, this story absolutely pulls you in and keeps you engaged. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say the characters are memorable and lovable, the plot itself stellar (couldn't resist), the pace moves right along, looooads of action and humour more than keep you entertained, and the romance is sweet and sexy. I never wanted the book to end and super duper recommend it! I know I'll reread this one over and over and over again!

As of yet no release date in Amazon. The waiting kills me at times !!
Been looking forward to reading this book ever since I read the teaser in 'The Lasaran' .
The picture of Eliana floating around - alone - in the vast endless space , talking to Commander Dagan , pops up in my mind at odd random moments. Gives me the chills .
A part of me knows what'll happen next (it's a novel after all !) but I still need to read it !! It has to be read !!

So I have been not so patiently waiting on this book since I read the blurb for it last year.

Eliana, who was on her way to Lasaran with some gifted ones and a few other Immortal Guardians, finds herself literally floating in space. She is awakened by a voice in her ear. Thus begins the friendship between her and Dagon, commander of the Segonian ship Ranasura, he is part of a fleet searching for survivors. They know there has to be some as escape pods were deployed and none have been found...yet.
When it is discovered that it will take 30 Earth days to reach her and she only has 26 Earth hours of oxygen available thing look grim. She proves to them that she is special when she tells them she is going to sleep to conserve some air...but please the the communication line open as it's too quiet in deep space.
Well we know our girl has got a lot more to her than what they can learn over the line and she surprises them time after time. Most of them are pleased she has survived and now gets to know the men behind the voices, most of all Commander Dagon.
Ms. Duvall still has the ability to create wonderful images of these worlds for us. The alien language, culture, cuisine and quirks. This lends nicely to Eliana and Dagon getting to know each other and finding a mutual admiration and desire for one another.
The search for survivors never stops. A plot by the Gathendiens is stopped and the Pervili man they had doing their dirty work gives them the low down on what's going on. And he has good news, Ava, one of the gifted ones, is alive. She was being held and tortured. Now the race is on to rescue her and get to others.
Yes, this series is going to keep my interest for a bit.

Hot Space Dudes!!

This book was a action paced space adventure. At the end if the last book poor Eliana was floating in space alone and injure.
Dagon intercepts a destress call and races to save her but knows there is no way he can make it in time.

There voices are her lifeline.

“You aren’t at all intimidated by my soldiers, are you?” “No. Should I be?” “They are all fierce warriors.” She grinned. “I am, too.”

Eliana is brave and up beat. Her humor and love for life just make this story incredible.

“Yes! Woo-hoo! See ya later, boys. Joral has some goodies for me.”

I want to read more about the ships crew. All the characters just jump off the pages at you and into your heart.

She opened her mouth to reply. “That’s so cool,” the men around her chorused, beating her to the punch. “I want one.”

On to the next and I can’t wait.

I think I fell in love with Eliana myself... I love her as a character... She is so fierce yet hilarious at the same time. It of all of Diane Duvall's female characters Eliana is by far my favorite. Her story is a roller coaster from the start out in open space to the end in the ship with Dagon. Even if you have not read any of the other stories in this series or the ones connected to it, this one should be read! Amazing!
