TW// murder, death (of a mother)

“You get to decide where your happiness comes from. What’s important is now. Let’s look to the future. Let’s do our best - together! And let’s never apologize for it!”

Despite my issue with the cover sexualizing a child, I loved this volume. It’s the end to the Entertainment District Arc battle, so the fighting gets even more creative and intense. I enjoyed seeing Hinatsuru get involved in the fighting. I wish the other wives would’ve been able to join in the fighting more.

I loved getting to see Daki and Gyutaro’s backstory. It was super sad, but it added tons of complexity to their characters.

I also really enjoyed the scenes where Nezuko was running around with Tanjiro on her back. They were adorable.

That's it...Demon Slayer is going down as one of the best Manga of all time for me.

The last volume you had our heroes pushing forward and splitting up with 2 vs 1 on two different teams. So that means they have the advantage, right? WRONG. This whole volume is basically every character being pushed to their limits. Bone crushing fights, stabs through the chest, mouth, and more. This is one of the most brutal fights I've seen in awhile. Will our heroes win or is this Berserk all over again and we lose?

I had anxiety reading this chapter. Every character felt close to dying, and at one point I had actually given up hope. The emotions run high as everyone gets a moment to shine but also almost die, which makes this an extremely exciting volume. Oh and even amongst all the crazy fights and such it still has some funny as hell moments.

I'm super excited to see where we go from here as the demons are royally pissed now. Demon Slayer is goddamn fantastic. A 5 out of 5.

Together, the two of us are invincible. Though cold and hunger we'll never part. I promise we'll always be together. So there's nothing in the world for us to fear.

This is easily my favorite Demon Slayer volume so far! Everything was perfect, even the smallest of details, so I cannot complain about anything. Oh, maybe except for Obanai. Someone get him out of here, please 😒

Anyways, this volume was dedicated entirely to the heroes' fight against the two demon siblings. And what a fight that was! I already knew what to expect, of course, since I watched the anime, and I knew that the manga scenes would not be as flashy as they were shown in the anime, but I was still left breathless. Gyutaro was a perfect match to Tengen, and vice versa. My nerves were up on the roof when I observed their wrestling. It was thrilling in the best way. It felt like I was the lucky person chosen to watch a battle between gods, you know? But it wasn't just Tengen and Gyutaro who made a lasting impression on me, it was the Demon Slayer's golden trio too.

'Work, damn it! Distract Gyutaro, even just a little! Find a way to win!' [Tanjiro]

'Tanjiro's in trouble! I don't know how he's still up and fighting! That shoulder wound is deep! It isn't bleeding anymore, but he's on the edge. He'd drop his sword if the hilt wasn't tied to his hand! It's my fault for getting poisoned. If I don't finish this fast, we're all dead!' [Tengen]

Tanjiro was a perfect support for Tengen in this battle. I loved to see them acting as each other's shields when it was needed, having no fear from being hurt as long as the other was safe. They relied heavily on each other in this battle, and I honestly can't blame them for it. Gyutaro had been a true monster to fight against! Anyways, it was already well known that Tanjiro was a tough fighter, coming back up again and again after every attack, no matter how badly he was injured. But his persistence in this fight was truly something else, I was speechless (and Gyutaro was too).

'This worm! Even though he's weak! Even though he's human! Even with a broken body! Even after I proved how much stronger I am. He's all alone! Why won't he give up? Why won't his spirit break?! Why won't he lose the will to defeat me?!' [Gyutaro]

Tanjiro was heavily injured. HEAVILY. To the point that anybody else would have no strength to fight, not even to move, but Tanjiro's will to defeat the enemy was unshakable, stronger than the unbelievable amount of pain that he definitely had felt. If anyone had any doubts about his strength, he had to lose them now, because the kid is strong, ladies and gentlemen, both mentally and physically. If I didn't know better I would be sure that he will be appointed as the next Hashira.

Zenitsu and Inosuke were also awesome in this battle, it was truly a joy watching them fight side by side and seeing how strong and reliable they had become, even if I don't quite understand how it's possible that Zenitsu can sleep and fight at the same time and how Inosuke can shift his internal organs around 🤨

"Pathetic! Each and every one of you is truly pathetic! But you're the most pathetic of all!" [Gyutaro]

The author did a great job at constructing the battle in a way that the readers can't help, but be emotionally invested in it, not just because they care about the characters or because of the flashy visuals of the battle, but because of the overwhelming tension and the high stakes. Both Gyutaro and Daki were incredibly strong opponents, as individuals and as a duo. It says a lot when a Hashira, one of the strongest demons slayers ever, had been struggling to defeat them.

"Things don't go exactly the way we want them to. We're only human. You get to decide where your happiness comes from. What's important is now. Let's look to the future. Let's do our best - together! And let's never apologize for it!"

To the very end you didn't know who will win. It looked like both sides had a chance, they just needed a little push in the right direction, a moment of distraction, truly anything could have been crucial to succeed. The more the battle kept on going, the more nervous I became, because nobody had been save. These heroes fought against an Upper Rank demon, so I think my nerves were justified! Things shifted in one way, then another, then another, one time for one side, another time for the other side. It was MADDENING, but in a good way, that's how you know that the battle is well made. I knew how things will look like, but I still had been left on the edge of my seat like I had a clue 😂 The ending was so satisfying. I cried tears of happiness and relief when the golden trio embraced, and when Tengen and his wives had their little moment. I LOVE when the good side wins, when things shift in the right way and there's hope to defeat the ultimate evil. It might be a little cliché, but it's so nice and it makes me warm all over ☺️

But for me the greatest thing in this volume isn't the battle, no matter how awesome it was. The greatest thing were the demon siblings, their beautiful bond and their unconditional love for one another.

"From the bottom of my heart I regret protecting a shrill harpy like you! If not for you, my life would've been better! It's all your fault! I always end up having to wipe your ass for you! I'd have been better off if you'd never been... born..."
"You don't mean that."

While my tears after the battle were happy ones, because the good side won, I have to admit that I also cried a lot because of the demon siblings. Their life and their fate broke my heart. They had been doomed from the very moment they had been born, and it was only worse from there. Beaten again and again, broken beyond repair, without any good present and any good future, having just each other for warmth and comfort... It's a story that will never stop making me emotional, because it's so incredibly sorrowful and because it's a sibling story (and if you know me, you know how much I love sibling stories).

"Nooooo! It's not fair! Don't take her away from me! Don't take my beautiful sister away!" [Gyutaro]

"No matter how many times I might be reborn, I'll always be your little sister!" [Ume]

The siblings acted like siblings usually do when they are angry at each other - they argued while their bodies had been crumbling, disappearing into nothingness. They hadn't realized that these hurtful words could be the last ones they ever said to each other, and Tanjiro's intervention was so beautiful and on point. Yes, they had been enemies, they fought against one another, but Tanjiro was also a big brother and he had a feeling that, despite acting otherwise, the siblings loved each other. And he was right. Their tears were my tears, truly, because there was indeed so much love, so much dedication and loyalty and need to protect one another. They stayed together through the happy times (if they had any) and the bad times, having the unshakable faith in one another, willing to go to hell as long as they stayed together. They did a lot of bad things as demons, unforgivable things, but I cannot help, but love them, just as they loved each other.

I will bawl my eyes out if I see them being reborn. I swear 😭

Someone on the internet pointed out the parallels between the Kamado siblings and Daki and Gyutaro, and I hadn't stopped thinking about it ever since. The Kamado siblings had been lucky to meet a good hearted man like Giyuu while all was left for Gyutaro was a heartless demon. Giyuu genuinely wanted to help, while all Douma saw in the siblings were tools that his master could use as he pleased. The difference makes me sick to my stomach ☹️

Anyways, with Rengoku gone and Tengen leaving, the forces of the demon slayers are getting weaker. But Ubuyashiki acts like a big shift just happened, and that they are close to finally beating Muzan. Meanwhile, the Upper Ranks are having a meeting at the Infinity Castle, how will Muzan react to the loss of the demon siblings and what does it all mean for the future events? We will see in the next volume!

P.S. Someone kick Obanai for being rude to Tengen. Seriously, I need to see it.

Damn, that was a thrilling end to this showdown! It was nice that one of Uzui's wives got to have a moment in the spotlight for this brawl, and it was even BETTER that Uzui's still alive! Thank you, Gotouge, thank so much for sparing him!

I liked seeing the final moments between the two demons as well as their past lives. One of my favorite aspects of this manga is seeing what happened to these demons in their past to make them what they are now, and it was heartbreaking to see how damaged both demons were. Their final moments were great and it was nice seeing Tanjiro rebuke them for their bickering, once again showing his empathetic nature.

One thing that concerns me is the implication that Tanjiro will be taking a Hashira position, only because it sounds like he could be taking Uzui's spot. I thought, considering Sound breathing came from Thunder breathing, that Zenitsu would be taking Uzui's position (purely based on logic) but it sounds like it could be Tanjiro. I figured, once again based on logic, that Tanjiro would take Rengoku's position, and maybe that will be the case, I won't know until the next volume comes out (I don't read the chapters online, so no spoilers, please!)

Anyway, this was another stellar volume that gave me everything I wanted and more. I love this series and can't wait to see where it goes from here.

This was such a great volume and is mostly the fight between Tanjiro and Gyutaro and Daki and its amazing to see the fight go on this long as so many fall yet they continue to fight using every technique and its only thanks to the trinity of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke that they were able to defeat the upper rank demons and as they did, it was amazing and bloody and all that. Plus we get the backstory of these two and its quite emotional.

The author is able to hit on the themes of lost family and the price we pay for them and makes you feel for the demons and also showcasing new powers for Nezuko and is good. Interesting developments for Tengen ahead and also the final battle seems to be beginning soon! The art and the fight choreography is on another level!

I loved it!! It was such a great ending of Arc. Tanjiro was so strong, I'm so impressed. It had me almost in tears, jesus. I can't wait to see all of this in the anime.

And can't wait to continue reading this manga series, I'm beyond excited to know more of this story.

Tengen Uzui is by far my favorite Hashira (until now) he's so damn strong and smart, los his wives are such a great companions, ugh, just so good.

7/10 stars

Tanjiro's Special Snowflakiness starts grating on me again, especially now that also Nezuko somehow gets another set of nifty powers. I can forgive a lot, though, for Inosuke's "I move my internal organs at will" trick ;) It was funny and absurd, and totally in character for my favorite boisterous, preposterous wild boar boy.

The fight could've ended quicker, though. I get that these are upper rank demons, but for me the strength of this series does not lie in battles but rather in the moments between, in the bonds forged between the characters and the limitations overcome by their perseverance, dedication and sheer will. Still, I appreciate Gotouge's efforts in creating believable and very human backstories for the demons; as a result, their tragedy stands out in ever clearer relief.

This battle just kept going and going and going! Just when you think the characters pulled something cool off to give it a worthy ending, it decided that wasn't good enough and did something less cool! Just as you thought they finally displayed enough new powers to make the fight interesting, they throw in more powers that make less sense and ruin the moment! The fight just keeps escalating! The whole moral of this arc is perserverence, with our protagonists proving their power in a legitimate challenge where the biggest obstacle is not being worn down. You take a scratch? Poison starts working its way through you! You take a stab? Your limbs weaken and you can hardly move! You cut off their head? You need both of their heads cut off or they'll regenerate! The whole point of this battle is that it takes a while, and wow does it ever.

By the end I was just flipping through pages, bored. The new abilities weren't interesting. All the character growth happened already. I tired of their personalities and perspectives. It could have ended last volume, or halfway through this volume, but it just kept going. Every new chapter adding nothing but new power-ups that weren't necessary but I guess we need to escalate from here so they need some route to progress. Instead of using better strategy, or using what moves you have more effectively, let's give everyone a super power-up special move quality technique power. Because that's what makes a battle series interesting! Not the choreography, not the pacing, not the strategy, let's just throw a bunch of attacks on a screen and have Tanjiro cry more. Perfect.

This is one of the volumes I've enjoyed the most recently thanks to all the different characters who had some of their own plots move forward. The demon fights here were as big as any have been yet, but we got to see a lot from all of our heroes in a way that showed clear progress and moved the whole story forward. Sometimes this series has to reach to have a heartfelt moment (you know, because of all the demons and silliness), but it felt more earned here even if it's still pretty heavy handed. I appreciate that we're getting closer to some real interaction with higher level demons so we can see where this is really going. At times it feels like this story is dragging, but that was not a problem here.

omg wtf!!!! UZUI!!!!! OMG AM SO MADD!!!! My gosh this upper moon is indeed strong! wtf...

omg... Tanjiro is Clever all along... But i'm still so sad with all this happening.

WTF!!! Tanjiro's jaw. omg ! Of all the chapters this one is so TERRIBLE for all of them. The casualties are just extreme especially to all of them.

YAAASSSS.. Inosuke is back. Wow he's so cool!!!!!! Though his mask doesn't show emotions at all which is hilarious. I am still curious how he looks when he fights.

OMG WTF!!!!!!!! NEZUKO HAS FUCKING PURGE THE POISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAWWWW. The mighty Trio Survive!!!!!!!!!!!! YYYYYAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
