With nearly a million book sales, USA Today bestselling author Hallee Bridgeman writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real-world problems. Her work has been described as everything from refreshing to heart-stopping exciting and edgy.

An Army brat turned Floridian, Hallee and her husband finally settled in central Kentucky so they could enjoy the beautiful changing of the seasons. Hallee’s oldest daughter is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, her middle son struggles as a hexagonal “autism spectrum” peg in this round world, and her youngest son fills the house with wooshes and bangs as he fights imaginary bad guys while wearing a Spiderman costume and wielding a Ninja sword.

When she’s not penning novels, you will find her in the kitchen, which she considers the ‘heart of the home’. Her passion for cooking spurred her to launch a whole food, real food “Parody” cookbook series. In addition to nutritious, Biblically grounded recipes, readers will find that each cookbook also confronts some controversial aspect of secular pop culture.

Hallee has served as the Director of the Kentucky Christian Writers Conference, President of the Faith-Hope-Love chapter of the Romance Writers of America, is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), and the American Christian Writers (ACW), and Novelists, Inc. (NINC). An accomplished speaker, Hallee has taught and inspired writers around the globe, from Sydney, Australia, to Dallas, Texas, to Portland, Oregon, to Washington, D.C., and all places in between.

Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide her. She prays her work here on earth is a blessing to you and would love to hear from you. You can reach Hallee at hallee@halleebridgeman.com

Since this is a boxset, I'll come back and update this review for every story I read, but so far, we've got January and September ;)

January Hope by Kari Trumbo: what's a good mark in a novella? Telling a complete story while leaving the reader wanting more. And that's exactly what this one did to me. Lowell definitely intrigued me with how enigmatic he was at the beginning and how little we knew about him, yet I fell for him with every gesture and care he had with Cleo (talk about the embodiment of a Southern gentleman #swoon). On the other hand, it took me a bit more time to warm up to Cleo, but in the end, she impressed me with her learning to face her fears (with the help of a certain gentleman, of course ;), as well as her eye for detail and sewing skills. What definitely grabbed my attention was the fact that they both were historians, a profession I haven't seen much in books but I could definitely do with a few more :).
Overall, a great Christian romance, and a great start to this unique box set. ~ 4.5 stars

One Vow for September by Liwen Y. Ho: Be still my beating heart!! This is the first taste I've gotten of Liwen's new "The Fab Forties" series, and I can already tell this is going to be my new favorite one of hers! She totally nails both parts of this genre (rom-com): the romance is her trademark sweet with all the warm, fuzzy feelings, and the comedy is full of all the shockingly funny puns around ;) I loved getting to know both September and Tristan, and my heart especially went out to him after reading about the experience that left him wary of relationships. However, I loved the fact that they were coworkers, and how September's assignment and playing pretend would help them open up and see the other in a different light. Of course, with this being a Christian rom-com, I loved how their faith played out throughout the story, and even how matter-of-fact it was 🤗. Oh, and even though this is one of those rare cases where a novella manages to tell a complete story (background, meet-cute, conflict, resolution/HEA), I still wouldn't mind seeing it as a complete, fleshed-out novel ;). ~ 5 stars

I Take You by Marion Ueckermann is the most delightful contemporary Christian novel that will leave you feeling good and smiling. It is part of the Save The Date Anthology.
The leading lady has always dreamed of a fairy tale wedding until she learns of a terrible secret and then her priority changes. Weddings are less about spending vast sums of money on one day and much more about the years that follow. Sometimes it is the simplest things that are the most magical.
There is the theme of forgiveness. Sometimes in life our hurt and pain runs deep. We cannot forgive in our own strength but need to lean on God and His strength in order to forgive. If we withhold forgiveness we risk becoming bitter and then dwelling in the land of regret. We must forgive because we have been forgiven.
Marion Ueckermann has created a wonderful set of characters who are realistically flawed and likable. We can empathise with a character who struggles with forgiveness as we ‘feel’ the emotional tugs.
As well as teaching us godly lessons, the story is highly amusing at times. Who can forget the antics of an Alpaca called Mr Darcy at a wedding and also the choice of bridal footware?
I Take You is a perfectly charming read that will warm your heart and soul.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Time For Me by Jan Thompson is a delightful contemporary Christian novella. It is the prequel to the Vacation Sweethearts series.
The characters are warm, welcoming and realistic. The reader feels completely at home in their presence.
We witness the importance of trusting God and waiting on His perfect timing. There is a time for everything under the sun if we would just be patient.
True wealth is never to be found in money but in people. When we love and are loved, we are rich beyond belief. We need to let go of our hold on worldly treasures and put our trust in God. We must put God first, family second. Everything else will slot into place when our hearts and priorities line up with His.
Time For Me was a very sweet story which warmed my heart. I always enjoy Jan Thompson’s stories, they leave me feeling good.
I received a free copy from the author. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

There are times I have a difficult time connecting with the stories in compilations like this. They seem like they are never long enough to really connect and immerse myself in the plot. I want more detail and more romance. I cannot say this for Save The Date.

Twelve phenomenal authors wrote twelve captivating and diverse wedding stories. Not a single story had the same trope–marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, enemy to lovers, and several others. Some of the stories were light and pleasant while others had devastating back stories. One even shares how some cultures view love and marriage.

I was so entranced by this collection that I had disappointingly found myself unable to turn the next page within a couple days from starting. Each wedding was beautiful and romantic in their own right and this former bridal consultant was left swooning. Bravo, authors. You outdid yourselves with this one.

***I was given a copy of the book from the publisher through CelebrateLit. A positive review was not required but freely given.

One Vow for September by Liwen Ho
September needs to write an article about vow renewal and just who volunteered to help, the one she really doesn’t like. Tristan doesn’t know why he volunteered but he’s stuck now. This is the start of a fun friendship or even more.
Really funny story. Everyone has a story.

January Hope by Kari Trumbo
Lowell is different from Cleo’s normal dates, he is really interested and helpful but he’s just not the man for her. Finding THE dress and getting a promotion is her goal. .....so she thinks.
Great story. I specially love Lowell who just tries to help her see herself different.

This looked and sounded like a fun collection, but unfortunately I only enjoyed a few of the stories. I’m going to do a short review of each one.

January Hope by Kari Trumbo - 3.5 stars
This was a sweet story. I really liked the characters and their relationship. There were a few kisses, but not really detailed.

A Valentine for Veronica by Lisa Prysock - 1 star
I didn’t like this one. It felt so contrived and fake. The drama felt overdone and the “mystery” left me feeling skeptical. Also there was false teaching in the story which dropped my rating from a 2 to a 1.

I Take You by Marion Ueckermann - 3 stars
I really liked Kaia and Leo. The story was interesting except for Dad. Ugh. I didn’t like him. At the end I don’t know if I was supposed to like him then or not, but he was still sinning and completely unrepentant. I felt the same way Kaia did.

Adoring April by Chautona Havig - 3.5 stars
This was interesting. I mean, I didn’t like the pulpit committee and didn’t think they were right, and I didn’t really like that Mrs. Nesbit pretty much decided that two people should get married without finding out if either one wanted or felt like they are supposed to be married. (God doesn’t call everyone to get married.) The idea of getting married without even really knowing the other person was different, and I wasn’t sure I would like the story, but I really did.

A Change of a Dress by Hallee Bridgeman - 3 stars
This was a sweet story. I was expecting something to happen in May since it was the May story, but it didn’t. I liked the characters and the Gideon family was just fun. (This story does not match the synopsis about the story, so I was a little confused.) There were a few kisses, but they weren’t too detailed.

Time for Me (Synopsis says title is Her Love So Sure) by Jan Thompson - DNF
I was bored by this story. I read some, then started skimming and then just quit.

The Wedding Dress by T. K. Chapin - 2 stars
This story felt flat and boring. It has nothing to do with Alexa not wanting to wear her mother’s wedding dress. (I don’t even remember that being mentioned.) I didn’t like the fact that on one page James is telling Linda that he won’t get married or do anything to dodge the draft, and the next page she’s pregnant. They are supposedly strong Christians who are making it a point to keep themselves for marriage. Also, the random hip slang that is used now and then felt just tossed in and doesn’t even seem to fit.

The Wedding Kimono by Camy Tang - DNF
I wasn’t comfortable with all the people who were either trying to tell a girl she would be a cute boy, or thinking she was a boy. I know the world wants to promote such things, but I don’t want to read about them. Not even if nothing happens.

One Vow for September by Liwen Ho - 2.5 stars
This was kind of fun and funny. There were awkward moments, and I didn’t really like that they had to tell everyone they were husband and wife to get their assignment done, but I did smile several times.

Braver with You by Jaycee Weaver - 3 stars
Ashlyn and Conrad were sweet. I might not have approved of their secret but I could totally understand why they were wanting to do it. I just wish they had had the courage to say something sooner to their moms. The moms had some serious issues!

Grateful for You by Dori Harrell - 2.5 stars
This story was okay. Not that great, but not boring either. I did like the characters, but wished there had been more praying and talking things over instead of just reacting. Yes, I get her fears, but I just wanted the story to have more depth, I guess.

Countdown to Her Cowboy’s Christmas Wedding by Shoshanna Gabriel - DNF
I got really tired of the whole “Should I?” “I can’t!” “But we could” thing. I started skimming and got even more fed up with the characters. Things that should have been talked over years before come up as giant problems that neither one seemed able to have a normal conversation about and get to the bottom of things. It was just reaction after reaction.

Overall, I enjoyed a few stories, but will not be reading the full collection.

I read A Valentine for Veronica, Lisa Prysock's book in this collection. I fell in love with Chad, and Veronica is a good character, too!! I loved that they had known each and worked together on different projects, for seven years. When these two get together to help each other out of a jam, watch out!!! My favorite thing of all is that Veronica gets Chad to reconsider his distance from God, and he starts a new, better, relationship with Him. A few twists I didn't see, and I loved the way it all worked out!!

I received a complimentary copy of Lisa's novella, wasn't required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

I read One Vow for September by Liwen Ho. Oh, my goodness!! I loved Tristan and September's story! I especially loved the banter between the two of them, and it went from beginning to end! The interaction between the two of them was soooo entertaining! I had to keep reading to see what would come out of their mouths next! The best part of all was that they were both older and never married, yet comfortable in their own skin, which isn't portrayed well in some books. That has definitely endeared this book to me!

I received a complimentary copy of Liwen's novella, wasn't required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

I read A Change of a Dress by Hallee Bridgeman. Oh, wow, what a great book!! Belle moves to Kentucky after her grandmother, her only relative, dies. She knows no one, and feels that making a change to a place her ancestor's came from is a great move. When she meets Carson, she finds the perfect place for her store. She also finds friends in his family. Carson hasn't been looking for that someone special, but when he meets Belle, he quickly decides he needs to get to know her. Belle also finds out something special about the property she bought, and finds a family.

I received a complimentary copy of A Change of a Dress, wasn't required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

I enjoyed One Vow for September by Liwen Ho. So much so that I'll be scouting out more books by her! I love the humor & witty banter she incorporated between September & Tristan when they were practically forced to work on a project together by their boss. They had to pretend to be married in order to make the magazine article about renewing ones' vows on a budget more believable. I also loved that they are both in their 40's which made this more appealing to me. Both September & Tristan are dealing with real life issues; one being she's already in a committed relationship with a man who's overseas more than stateside & he's been burnt by love when he was left at the altar by his fiancée. Getting them together romantically was a challenge I couldn't wait to see how Ho would handle. With lighthearted humor, lots of sparks, a gentle nudge towards a love that will last, and a firm faith foundation that glues them together is exactly how she accomplished that goal. This is a fun, fast, sweet novella sure to please!

P.S. I look forward to reading the rest of the novellas in the “Save the Date” Christian romance anthology collection.

I was excited to get a sneak peek at this anthology ahead of release. If what I read is indicative of what the anthology contains, then this set of stories will be a treat! I read Liwen Ho’s story, One Vow for September about September and Tristan, co-workers writing a human interest story for their publication. They are pretending to be married so they can scope out the cost of services needed by people planning to renew their wedding vows. Both September and Tristan have personal baggage and this makes for some sad as well as hilarious moments. I loved their banter and the way the author took them from barely tolerating one another to attraction and mutual understanding. It was a delightful story! I was entrusted with an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

It's such a joy to be part of this project with so many authors I admire. I'm looking forward to sharing Braver With You, which is the October book in our year of weddings anthology. Childhood sweethearts Ashlyn and Conrad are well on the way to their long-awaited Big Day, but getting there won't be easy. A big announcement, a controlling mother, and old trauma bring up a host of things they'll have to overcome together first. Check back frequently to hear more from the other authors in our set!

I loved Liwen Ho’s contribution to the Save the Date anthology, “One Vow for September.” Her humor is done just right – I chuckled at least once a page! The characters were fun to get to know, and the story flow is well done. It’s a quick read, but really cheered up my afternoon!

I've read two of the stories in this collection and I'm loving them.
Each author brings heart-warming tales for us to read.
The two stories I've read are Braver With You by Jaycee Weaver, and I Take You by Marion Ueckermann.
Here are just a few words about these two books:
Braver With You -
Have you ever had fear so strong that it keeps you locked from doing things?
Has it crippled you and changed your whole life?
Something happened in Ashlyn’s life when she was young and she hasn’t been able to get past it. It also had a ripple effect on many people in her life. Now she’s trying to rise above it.

Braver With You is a beautiful story of love, relationships, and battling fears.
This author knows how to bring out all the feelings and make this story soar.
Jaycee Weaver is a wonderful author who spins beautiful stories. Whenever I pick up one of her books I’m blessed.

I Take You -
When things don’t go the way you think they should, do you give up, or do you find a new way? Do you remember that God is right there with you, helping you through what feels like an overwhelming situation? He is and He will care for you. This is what Kaia and Leo learn.
In this sweet story of love and dreams, written by Marion Ueckermann, we find two people with a deep love for each other. When they come upon a ripple in their plans, they reach out to each other and draw in strength from God.
The author’s choice of words and descriptions were captivating and held me spellbound.

I highly recommend you pick up this collection of stories.
I was given these books by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've had the pleasure of reading an ARC of one of the novellas in this collection! I have also pre-ordered my copy and am looking forward to reading more of the novellas!

Braver with You by Jaycee Weaver
I adored this story! The premise and storyline of this one is so unique and completely enthralling! As with anything Jaycee writes I was drawn in to the story on page one and hated to leave when I turned the final page! Ashlyn was a fabulous heroine, I liked her instantly, was cheering for her and found myself relating to her quite a lot (I experienced emotional trauma and anxiety as a teen after my family was in a car accident, we were thankfully not seriously injured, but for me the emotional scars ran deep for quite a while afterward. So even though my experience was nothing like Ashlyn's there were so many moments where I totally got how she was feeling!) I love Conrad, he is totally my favorite hero of Jaycee's so far! This helicopter pilot and search and rescue volunteer totally stole my heart and he has yet to return it to me! I love the way the title plays into the story, such a beautiful faith message! No spoilers, but I have to say that the absolutely amazing wedding scene is one of my favorites that I've ever read, loved it so much! I absolutely and completely loved every word of this story and most highly recommend it!

I received an eARC of this novella from the author. My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.

I totally enjoyed reading One Vow for September, a work-place romance. The main characters are great, a little snarky to start with and then exchanging enjoyable banter once they get to know one another a little better. Their faith helps develop the characters, giving them more depth. They get in a lot of humorous situations as they work together impersonating a married couple renewing their vows. There's a wonderful HEA for this couple. I would highly recommend this story to romantic comedy readers, clean/wholesome romance readers, and to Christian romance readers. I hope to read more from Liwen Y. Ho.
I Take You by Marion Ueckermann has themes of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. The main characters, Kaia and Leo, have been friends for sixteen years, have planned on their future being together, are faithful to each other, and have been careful to honor God in their relationship. The proposal scene is fantastic! The deep hurt that Kaia experiences is from a family member and is very hard to forgive. I really enjoyed reading this book and think it's a great story for this collection.
I received complimentary copies of both of these stories and have bought the collection so that I can enjoy all of them!

Save the Date is a boxed set with a unique premise of a wedding each month of the year. Twelve months, 12 weddings, 12 romances, and 12 inspiring authors. This boxed set is dedicated to two authors who are no longer with us: Marion Ueckermann and Shoshanna Gabriel. Review will be updated as I read more of the stories.

I Take You by Marion Ueckermann is a whimsical unique novella with a New Zealand summer setting, Mr. Darcy—the people-judging-spitting alpaca—and Kaia’s perfect wedding turned into a nightmare. What makes the perfect wedding—the venue, the dress, the shoes, the wedding party, the family, the guests, or the exchanged vows? Talented storyteller Marion Ueckermann weaves unexpected plot twists and New Zealand tidbits into an inspiring emotional story. Would mourning turn to dancing for Kaia, her groom Leo, and her mother? This avid reader enjoyed this wedding-themed romance.

Thus far, I've read the short story by Lisa Prysock and I absolutely loved it! She knocked it out of the ballpark!

What's a girl to do when she finds her dream wedding gown, has no potential groom, and agrees to have her (non-existent) wedding photographed by an old nemesis? Buy the dress, of course, and pray for a miracle!

What's a man to do when he needs to marry in order to keep his family from pushing him into a marriage that he doesn't want? Quickly arrange his own, of course!

Forging a marriage agreement to help each other, can Veronica and Chad turn a friendship into a real marriage?

I read One Vow for September, one of the books that is a part of this anthology.

September has a boyfriend and has been hoping she would be getting engaged soon. However, her employer has an idea for a magazine story, which forces her to work closely with her coworker. Sparks fly between September and her coworker as they research their story.

I enjoyed the characters; much different than most romances. Their ages (40s) aren’t typical of romance books. Their belief in God gave them the faith to handle what was thrown their way.

A very pleasant read.

This is a review for "One Vow for September".
It's a sweet short read, full of witty puns and banter. The chemistry between the two lead characters was believable, though I felt like the timeline in which they fell in love was a bit fast. However, considering the length of the novella it does make sense and it doesn't detract from how well written it was. Also loved the small inclusions of some Chinese culture/language aspects. It's great to read if you need something light-hearted that brings you hope and feelings of sweetness.

(I was given an ARC and this is my voluntary, honest review)

I read A Valentine for Veronica by Lisa Prysock. I found this to be a very entertaining book and an easy read. There are lots of elements in the story. It all starts with a wedding dress and a will. It's a really good book. The way the author weaves in her religion is very natural. The story flows very easily. And there are some quirks that are surprising but really good. It's a great read.
I did receive an advance copy from the author, but this review is all my own.

So far, I’ve only gotten to read “One Vow for September” by Liwen Y Ho. It was a very hilarious and satisfying read.
A bit of a heads up, it’s about a couple in their 40’s. They have known each other a few years, but never saw each other “in that light”. What seemed like a random comment started them down a road of forever.
I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them, but this will one will definitely be at the top!

Save the Date is a set of twelve different authors featuring a story for every month of the year.
I enjoyed the individuality of the stories and the unique perspectives of each of the authors. Plus, they took me on a trip around the world, too!

I appreciate the faith element in each story. How interesting to see how each author approaches it and gives their own inimitable viewpoint.

One Vow For September Review:

September and Tristan are coworkers who never really talk much until they get assigned to work together pretending they are married. One Vow For September was a cute sweet short story that you can easily read in a small time frame, while waiting at a doctor, picking up kids from school, or in between classes.

While I do wish there was more to the story (it would make an AMAZING full length book on its own), it had enough detail and history that it seemed to work out. Fake relationship books are my absolute favorite and this is a definite cute one to check out.

This is a box set and I only had the chance so far to read this one story from it. Once I have the full book after release day I will update to include reviews for all of the stories.

I read "One Vow for September" by Liwen Ho.

Oh my goodness! the characters were great—nice to see an older couple finding their HEA. ;)

It's definitely a Christian story—lots of quoted Bible verses, but no preaching. It's got a little cultural info tossed in and ends with September's article.

*****
OK so I went back and read the other stories. I still think this is a 5-star book. The stories in it are varied, from cheesy to leaning more toward the drama, heart-wrenching storyline. Since all are relatively short the angst is short-lived and then we get the HEA or HFN, so it's all good.

I'm saddened by the passing of a couple of the authors. I continue to pray for comfort for their families and friends.

I love this premise. I read A Valentine for Veronica by Lisa Prysock. Wow is all I can say. She brings her attention to detail out in this book and it shines. Creating a wedding after you find the dress is definitely a challenge! Now add a time crunch after she agrees to have the wedding photographed by someone from her past. Lisa Prysock creates a wonderful story around this situation.
Chad is in quite the conundrum when he finds out he has to marry quickly to avoid a marriage his family is pushing him into!
Can these two find enough in their friendship and faith to fall in love? This is a must read!

A Valentine for Veronica by Lisa Prysock is one of the stories from Save the Date. A great short story which is a teaser for the rest of the book. Glad I got a chance to read it.
All twelve stories reveal a piece of the author who wrote them. And I was introduced a few new to me authors. All stories show a great couple who are months from being married. I loved reading all of them.

One Vow for September by Liwen Ho - She is writing a story on couples renewing their wedding vows and he volunteers to be her fake husband. This story was so funny and romantic at the same time. She has a boyfriend that will not commit and he has an ex that has him jaded on love. Sparks fly literally. Loved the ending.
