Can a horned alien warrior and an isolated woman grant two children their holiday wish for a family?
Jaelle is lonely. Ostracized by the village, like her mother and grandmother before her, she poses as an old witch in order to eke out a meager living selling herbal remedies to people who don't want to admit they need her help. When children start disappearing from the village, she is determined to find an answer to the riddle. She doesn't expect to find a massive, horned alien - one who sees through all her disguises.
Since crash-landing on K.R.S Three, Commander Krampusarian D'Marchandar spends his time working on his ship and secretly observing the other inhabitants. During his explorations, he discovers a strange, beautiful female. It is an impossible attraction - but when he sees her treatment at the hands of the other villagers, he decides she is his to protect.
A sweet and steamy holiday tale featuring two precocious orphans, a determined heroine, an unexpected hero, and, of course, a very happy ending! (Intended for mature audiences.)
It was funny, with little references to Krampus, Nicolaus, father Frost (Moroz) and other Christmas lore. And while it was also sweet, with those two adorable kids "taken by the Krampus" and the blue puppy, it was quite low on steam between the main characters. Definitely a different kind of alien story but something was missing for me here.
Such a lovely and sweet story It was! Oh, and smexy too!
No wonder she had experienced so little desire towards the men of the village. It turned out her ideal man – male – was a massive alien with ivory horns and a ridiculously long and agile tongue.
CHARACTERS
Krampasarian: a nice gentleman with actual manners, okay he was a voyeur too, but it was only a curiosity for the unknown...He never acted without his manners. Plus they were meant to be! *He was a clean and neat man. I liked it so much that he was cleaning himself and everything else around him after every messy situation. Hygiene is important, and the man is hygienic; I respect that! Probably it's only me who paid attention to that, lol. Jaelle: Witchy woman, clever, strong, carer, and survivor, how can I not like her?
-If it's not the creator's job to make the different species compatible in those intimate parts...? UNIVERSAL SEX!-
PROS
*I love both of the MCS so much and them as a couple! *They both described as gorgeous beings, and in my mind, they were HOT!! I blame it on the weird couple (Why did I even fall for that cover anyway?) *Blame me, but I always like the idea of ‘‘sensitive horn.’’ *I am sending my special love to their family; side characters were also so fun to read about. I especially like the interaction between Krampasarian and the kids / the Pup. *It gave me a tiny bit of Beauty and the Beast vibe, only in some scenes.
“Don’t Tandroki boys compare themselves?” “We compare the size of our horns. Mine were the largest in my squad.” “Maybe large horns mean a large cock,” she whispered, and he felt her fingers skate across him. “Very large.”
OVERALL
*If there were to be alien kind to walk on earth, I wish them to be like Krampasarian! *Krampasarian, Jaelle, Cinna, Whitt, Robin, Puppy, and Anak, love you all! Farewell! *This book melted my heart and filled me with joy! I needed this smooth read. I wouldn’t mind If it were longer, but it was a novella and one of the best ones I’ve read, Perfectly summed up!
“By the Horns of Moroz, I never dreamed that a physical sensation could be so overwhelming,” he burst out.
Now THIS is a gosh darn good little Christmas story!
I don't know this author and I don't even know how I found this book, but I'm sure glad it showed up in my life. It's equal parts unique, steamy, and sweet as can be.
Commander Krampasarian D’Marchandar of the Tandroki Fleet is an alien that crash lands his spaceship on Earth. As he makes the repairs needed to take off again, he gets to know Jaelle - a witch living on the outskirts of town. He takes her in, along with two young orphan children, and they all create an instant bond that no one is willing to let go of.
This isn't a story about actual Krampus... or an actual crone, for that matter. But the it plays with the lore and it ends up being cute and shockingly funny. Krampasarian and Jaelle have a smoking hot insta-lust and don't fight their feelings for long before they give in. The children in the story are adorable, both with great personalities. All four of them were great characters and even the animals were fun to read about.
I loved this, and it goes to the top of my 2020 Christmas reads list. If you're not mistletoe'd out and you want something unique and sugary sweet, give this one a try.
This is the closest thing to a Ruby Dixon book I've read not by Ruby Dixon - and that is honestly the highest praise I can give for a sci-fi romance. This was such a fun take on the Krampus mythos! Fun characters, interesting set up, and a certain lightness of touch that just works for me. Hurrah for speculative romances dipping into the Christmas novella industry
Strange backstory for the FMC and her female relatives/ancestors. (about seducing a villager and getting pregnant and then to drug that villager so it wipes that man's memories and he never gets to know his child or of their existence.
Too much focus on the kids and not the couple/main characters or their romance/chemistry and both the depth of the romance and the depth of the main characters suffered because of it.
The FMC’s strange contradictory statement/position about having biological children that then flips... even after what happens and changes with the villagers and that the couple/main characters already have two adopted children in different ages to care for.... it seemed somewhat strange.
Some parts were a little jumbled and dragged a tiny bit.
The world-building was somewhat lacking even for a novella.
A little too much inst-lust and insta-love and the sex scenes were a little bit underwhelming…. More warm than hot.
Romance de ciencia ficción con un mensaje sobre el amor y la familia para navidad
✨Krampus and The Crone de Honey Phillips✨
This was a really unique holiday read. I absolutely hated the eye-rolling name (oh, you just so happen to look like Krampus and also have Krampus in your name and you're kidnapping kids but you're NOT Krampus, you're an alien who has never heard of Krampus? Okay, bud) but the story was actually pretty entertaining. Unique spin on things.
I really enjoyed this novella. I added it to my TBR last holiday season, but after seeing a few friends read and enjoy it this year I finally gave it a try and I'm glad I did. I've been in a novella mood because with all the craziness of the holidays my attention span has been shorter so this was perfect. This is an alien romance with cute kids and a chosen family that's just too cute and a tiny bit of Christmas lore sprinkled in.
Probably my favorite in the series. I absolutely loved this story. I definitely recommend it, and I hope more are written like it - double virgins, marriage, babies, adoption, created families, sweet, 100% safe. All my favorite book aspects all in one book. It was amazing.
This story made me happy. Found family, first loves and a cinnamon roll hero that was too adorable for words. I’m so glad I read this book and plan to continue with the second in the series soon. 4 Stars!
Not sure if I’ve read a Krampus romance yet but this one was a lot of fun. Super quick read that follows an alien warrior who crash lands on a strange planet. Considering the length the plot and storyline were well mapped out and made for a fun read. I was wondering how and where they’d get their HEA so I’m happy the universe takes care of that for them! Adorkably short holiday read. The heroine wasnt annoying to me like others have been lately 🤣 and while it’s unfortunate she had to hide her identity for so many years I’m glad she gained a family and the freedom to be herself!
For me, this one didn’t deliver on the promise of the premise. Since it’s a Krampus book (literally in the title) I was expecting the hero to be a lil villainous/feral (he wasn’t) I was expecting there to be HOT sex (one scene, short, at 80%) and I was hoping for like a *little* monster fucking vibes. It just didn’t deliver on any front. While the story itself was fine, I just didn’t get ~anything~ I wanted out of it🤷🏼♀️
It was a short and very pleasant story about an alien and his journey to finding a family and a new life. Was I engrossed? No, but I did enjoy scrolling through the pages, nevertheless.
Loved Krampus. He was snobby at first but ended up being a total sweetheart and pushover when it came down to it. The kids, pup, a bird showed he was a big softie. Nice read. It was short and light. I loved when he was good natured about the dog peeing on him. I remember when I adopted a dog and he peed on me in the car on the drive home. I had sit there and suffer for 30 min. Lol
I have no problem admitting I have a great, big soft spot for normally civilized aliens falling for their special someone in an unorthodox place and time. No problem at all. Frankly, Krampusarian is adorable. He might be from a technologically advanced society, but Jaelle brings out the beast in him. He'll fight tooth and claw to keep her safe and he'll be socially awkward to the extreme after.
LOVE IT!
Yup, Krampus is a little uptight when he first interacts with Jaelle. He doesn't quite know how to deal with all the physical responses her presence causes and, well, things get interesting. Plus, our dude steals a kid or two (for entirely noble reasons...kind of. I mean, he's trying to stick it to the guy who's mistreating one of them and things kind of escalate from there. And by that, I mean, suddenly he finds himself the ward of two kiddos and THAT'S JUST ADORABLE IN ITSELF because he's a pretty good dad-figure and I LIKE IT!) and ends up with a ready made family before he knows it.
As for Jaelle, she's the local witch-woman who has more than a few secrets of her own. Finding an alien hiding out on her mountain doesn't rattle her nearly as much as it could have. And, heck, he's kinda cute in his uptight, stuffy way and those horns, amirite?!?! Anywho. She's a good fit for our socially awkward alien and I like them together.
Commander Krampusarian D'Marchandar has crashed his ship on some fringe planet and is busy awaiting repairs. He gets curious and sends out some drones to investigate. What he finds is one primitive (to him) village. There's one old female who's really drawn his attention. Jaelle lives as an outcast separated from the village. She possesses the knowledge of herbal remedies and is considered a witch. In this story I see Krampus and Jaelle as fiercely independent people. I think they're lonely, but don't realize it. Events bring them together at the perfect time. And they just might violate hygiene laws in five galaxies... In other words, it gets steamy. Add into the mix Whit and Cinna - two orphans who need a little TLC. I loved the theme of family in this book! Some bonuses were an AI bird with a mind of its own and a surprise pet! Loved both. Honey serves up a great holiday, low-angst read that I definitely recommend! Props to the cover artist, too - it's gorgeous! 4.5 stars
I'm not much of a Christmas fan but this kept popping up in my book recs so I decided to give it a go. It was truly a sweet Christmas story and I am glad I read it. It warmed my little Grinch heart!
Wowwwww I can’t believe it took me so long to read this book. I devour romance of all genres, and I love many of them, but RARELY does a romance choke me up. THIS ONE DID. I won’t give it away, but the ending with the villagers got me straight in the feelzz and I was literally blinking away tears.
Krampus was magnificent; stern and controlled, fighting his primal instincts that had been awakened by his female, his fury and rage and protective instincts bursting from the bonds of civility. It was all swoon! And then his tenderness and care for the children, had me melting into a puddle of goo. And the cherry on top? A virgin hero—no memories of other women to ever gunk up his psyche, no overused dick. He was his mate’s and she was his, they belonged only to one another, their one and only.
BEST HERO EVER!!
100% safe. Double virgins, they belong exclusively to one another. No ow/om, no cheating or abuse of any kind. HEA with epilogue.
"Krampus and the Crone" by Phoney Phillips is a pleasant read with a good heart. I had to Google him as Krampus is most noticeable in Ireland by his absence. Commander Krampasarian D’Marchandar, a horned alien, is stranded on planet K.R.S. Three while he repairs his spaceship. For his own amusement he uses drones, disguised as birds, to monitor the local (human) population. He discovers the crone as she travels from her mountainside home to the nearest village to purchase provisions and provide healing potions. She's an outcast, partly by her own decision. Her family were blamed when a colony spacecraft crashed generations ago on the planet. Since then the family has survived through random sexual encounters, and only females have been born. Krampasarian comes from a society which has long since eschewed physical intimacy and displays of affection- but that's about to change! It's clocked in at 100 pages but, on a cold Winter afternoon, it passed the time pleasantly. 3 Stars.
Honey Phillips wrote a solid sci-fi holiday story that steers on the fluffy side. It is a well-constructed plot that is sweet and romance-forward. If a reader is intrigued by the concept of Krampus but wants a cinnamon roll version, Phillips has something here.
Tiny things made me go “huh” for the book. For example, I was intrigued that birds evolved on the alien planet setting. I also felt it was a missed opportunity for Phillips to experience how this flung-out human population celebrated the Christmas season. Despite this being a story playing around with the Krampus concept, it felt sparse.
Regardless, this was a lovely time reading. The story and characters kept me in as the novel progressed and became more sweet and wholesome (with a healthy serving of sexy time). I would recommend this as a lovely way to spend a winter afternoon.
Honestly this book was so cute and steamy! Krampasarian is this stoic alien who was raised in a culture where it is believed emotions lead to possessiveness and primitive, animalistic urges and it was so fun to see those walls break down and feel passion with Jaelle and have fun and play with the kids. And Cinna was just so cute, trusting Krampasarian without hesitation and it just melted your heart!
This was my first alien romance and I really loved it. I've read a LOT of historical romance and kept thinking "I know these are aliens, but Krampusarian keeps giving off ducal vibes." The whole story had SUCH strong HR vibes for me - Krampusarian's strict and emotionless upbringing, the strong emphasis on duty and procreation simply to better the gene pool, choosing a partner for their compatability, not having fun, taking in orphans first out of a sense of duty, then keeping them because they are his chosen family, falling for the wild, free-spirited fmc.
I LOVED all of it!!
If you want to branch out from historical romance to paranormal/alien romance, this is a book I would def recommend.
In fact, our Krampus here could easily be a Santa or any other 100% good guy hero.
It’s not a bad story. The main characters are fairly interesting, the kids are not super-annoying, and I loved the little drone-bird. But it only barely mirrors anything Christmas or Krampus-like, which feels like a missed opportunity.
Krampus-ness: 1/5 Spice: 1/5 Christmas pop culture jokes: 1/5
