Christmas Crackers

Rate this book
Three bestselling MM Christmas romances in one great collection!

Best friends snowed in together. When the heat rises, will they get cold feet?

Getting snowed in at a remote cottage in Wales with someone he’d fancied for ages isn’t exactly how Sam expected to spend Christmas. His feelings for Ryan are pointless. Ryan’s straight—or so he thought.

Until now, Ryan’s kept his feelings for Sam buried. Why ruin a friendship over what might only be gay experimentation? Playing it cool seems safer, until a cold snap makes sharing body heat vital. In their Welsh safe haven, anything seems possible.

As Ryan’s reserve melts away, Sam wants more than stolen kisses under the mistletoe. But a sudden thaw means making decisions. They could face the New Year together—unless one of them gets cold feet.

* * *
When two friends pose as boyfriends, could what happens at Christmas turn into something more?

Justin is recently and unhappily single. Christmas is coming, and he doesn’t want to face his ex alone at their office party. So Sean—Justin’s best mate and long-time secret crush—volunteers to go with him and pretend to be his new flame.

Sean has always lusted after Justin from afar, but there’s never been a good opportunity to ask him for more than friendship. Posing as Justin’s boyfriend isn’t a chore, and if Justin wants to rebound onto him, Sean’s more than willing. At the party pretence and reality blur, and a kiss on the dance floor leads to a night of passion.

In the aftermath, they both assume it was a one-time thing until fate intervenes. Stuck together in London over the holidays, they give in to temptation again. But what happens at Christmas stays at Christmas… right?

* * *
Zac never had a family of his own, but Rudy has enough to share.

Shy, inexperienced Rudy has a crush on Zac from the moment his new colleague walks through the door. On an office night out before Christmas, Rudy finds the courage to make a move, and they form a tentative bond. When he discovers Zac will be alone at Christmas, he invites Zac to come home with him.

Zac prefers to keep people at arm’s length. Yet when Rudy offers him a family Christmas it’s impossible to resist. With no parents of his own, Zac is pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by Rudy’s. The only drawback is that everyone assumes they’re a couple. Unwilling to disappoint Rudy’s mum and make Christmas awkward, they decide not to deny it.

It’s not a chore for Zac to pose as Rudy’s boyfriend, but the pretence makes him want things that scare him—things like a real relationship with Rudy. Zac’s suffered enough rejection in his life already and is afraid to risk his heart. If he can get over his past rejection and let Rudy inside his armour, he might get more for Christmas than he ever imagined.

If one is good, two is better, then three must be…full of lovely glee!
This trio includes some of Northcote’s previous holiday stories and I enjoyed them just as much this second time around. Since first impressions are often best, here’s the essence of my earlier reviews.

Cold Feet
Sam and Ryan are on holiday break and embark on a journey that will change their lives. You see, Sam is gay and is hopelessly in love with Ryan, his straight best friend. I can hear what you are thinking….’been there, done that’. But wait! I have found that it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve read a particular ‘theme’, what truly matters is- how well it’s done. This time? It was done beautifully. They are off to the countryside for a few days of rest and relaxation before Christmas. An unexpected snowstorm traps them, isolates the two of them in a haven of beauty. Peace, quiet, and shared body warmth become quite the temptation. Aren’t the holidays all about indulging?

Sam is single and having a hard time settling down because his heart belongs to Ryan, unbeknownst to Ryan. Ryan has used his college years to thoroughly explore the girls on campus, but now believes the reason he has not found ‘the one’ is because he’s already found them, or more precisely, him. They are amazing friends and it gets even better when they cross that irreversible line. Circumstance prevents an opportunity and they tip-toe and then pounce on it. Bless the lovely mistletoe.

Snowbound at Christmas is a gift. Well, if you ask me it is. I love watching the flakes fall and pile up, coating the world in a fresh glistening blanket. There is something pure and comforting about being snowed in. And it’s soooo romantic.
Sam and Ryan discover life has a funny way of putting you exactly where you are supposed to be. The boys blissfully find that place happens to be in each other’s arms.
Then the snow melts and along with it the happy bubble they were in. Can they hold onto what they found, the precious gift of love…or was it an illusion all along?
I absolutely adored finding out!

What Happens at Christmas
I want this book to be real. An honest to goodness true-life tale. I want Justin to exist. I want Sean to exist. I want every morsel of this story to exist. I wish with my whole heart that it is factual and actual and….simply true. Why? Because it dazzles with charm, twinkles with joy, and glistens with passion….it’s the perfect package and I LOVED it.

Justin never actually ‘came out’. He didn’t have to, he was constantly ‘called out’. Everyone knew he was gay, there was no denying it. Whereas his best friend, Sean, was a late bloomer with his sexuality and he danced with denial for years. The force-driven behind Sean’s realization and acceptance of his sexuality was his underlying attraction to his bestie. Justin was a serial monogamist and never single long enough for Sean to act on his hidden desires. Little did Sean know that Justin felt the same and kept bouncing from one boyfriend to another to avoid idle hands and make a move that might cost him his best friend.

I’m a firm believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’ and sometimes the time is just not right. But when the time is right, it can be a beautiful gift. It’s nearly Christmas when Sean returns from his adventurous travels. He took his backpack and trekked across the world for most of the year and needs a place to crash. Considering how his father handled his coming out, he’s not keen on going back home. So, he turns to Justin. Justin is recovering from a recent breakup and is eager for the distraction of a house guest, especially since it’s his favorite mate.

Justin wants to skip out on the holiday office party to avoid his ex. He is certain he will arrive with his latest arm candy and he just can’t bear to watch. When Sean suggests that he attend as his ‘plus one’ and pretend to be his boyfriend Justin is game. Maybe this will turn out to be fun after all. Pretending to be Sean’s boyfriend won’t be difficult but what happens when it doesn’t feel like pretending anymore? *whispers* Good stuff is what!

A Family For Christmas
Rudy works for Rainbow Futures and he’s got a serious crush on the new guy, Zac. However, it looks like a crush is as far as it’s going to get because Zac is a recluse and shuts down every attempt at changing that. When his boss makes it clear he is to join the staff for a night out, he’s forced out of his hermit status. When drinks turn into shots, Rudy throws caution to the wind and makes his move. The evening does not play out as Rudy envisioned but it opens a door between them. When Zac confides he has no plans for Christmas because he has no family, Rudy offers an olive branch. He likes Zac and would love to have anything Zac can give, even if it’s just friendship. To his surprise, Zac accepts. He timidly takes what Rudy is offering and it looks like for the first time, he has plans for Christmas.

Zac shocked himself as much as Rudy when he agreed to go home with him for the holidays. A moment of weakness in his fierce facade allowed him to take…which is something he has learned not to do. Zac has no one and relies on no one. He has discovered the hard way that he can’t trust anyone. But what if he’s wrong? What if he was trusting the wrong people before and will lose out on something magnificent if he turns away now? Zac thinks Rudy is sweet, naive, and hot…perhaps this is the chance worth taking.

It’s obvious where Rudy gets all of his charming personality from, his family. They are loads of fun! From traditional meals and drinks to games (Sardines!) they all kept me rolling. I enjoyed each and every one of them. Rudy has a large crew at home but they were easy to keep straight. I struggled a bit with separating their co-workers in my head and definitely preferred the time spent at Rudy’s parent’s home, but you’d be crazy to not want to be there.

The visit home may begin as playing fake boyfriends after a miscommunication, but it quickly turns into something much more. Do you know how some people brighten when a certain individual is around? Zac begins to glow in Rudy’s presence. It’s so beautiful. I adored witnessing both of them change in different ways. More confident. More vulnerable. More content. Just…more. They both have special gifts and when they share them with each other, the story sparkles. Some of my favorite parts include a dark closet, a kitty, and a chance to love and be loved.

This book is for: If you’re needing a boost this holiday, I’d highly suggest you grab this set of charming Christmas stories. I did notice several repetitions reading them all together but tickles and snow fights are great fun no matter how many times we get them! All-in-all, it’s bursting with jolly good fun.

Cold Feet- 3 stars
A sweet Christmas novella from the always reliable Jay Northcote, I liked Cold Feet, even if it wasn't a home run.

Honestly, I'll take a snowed-in, must share a bed! romance any day of the week, and I was thrilled to get one here. There were some genuinely wonderful moments in the story, but the constant miscommunications were a sticking point for me.

It really irks me when the whole tension in a plot is based around the lack of a proper discussion, and that's what we get with Cold Feet. Sure, these guys are awkward college kids and one is just exploring his sexuality for the first time, but there was too much "making assumptions" for my taste. I wanted some straightforwardness, and it took until the end to get there.

I enjoyed the holiday spirit and the tentative sexy-time snuggles, but I think the brevity of the novella made it easier to rely on miscommunication as a main plot device. Still, a cute story, even if it won't make my favorites list, and it made me want to snuggle up by the fire.

What Happens at Christmas- 3 stars

Interestingly enough, I read this book 5 years ago, and other than updating the author's pronouns, I could have written the exact same review today. Here it is:

Okay, here's the deal with Jay Northcote: I like his stuff, just not nearly as much as everyone else seems to. Yes, this story was an easy, adorable holiday read, but I had a hard time remembering the details only a couple days after I finished it.

I've read more fake boyfriends ---> real boyfriends stories than I can count, but it's a trope that never seems to get old. Sean and Justin have been friends since they were kids, and though both are gay, they have always kept their friendship platonic. Now, Justin wants Sean to pretend to be his boyfriend to make an ex jealous... despite the fact that Justin has real feelings for Sean.

Now, this book had a lot of positives, especially when the two guys FINALLY get down and dirty, but *gah*, it killed me that the only thing keeping these guys apart all that time was a lack of communication. I like a good friends-to-lovers story as much as the next gal, but when all problems could have been resolved with a simple chat, EVEN AFTER THEY STARTED HOOKING UP, it made me want to bash my head against the wall.

Positives: cute monkeys, holiday snuggles, and a sweet HEA.
Negatives: communication fails, not much tension.

A Family for Christmas- 4-stars

Now this was the sugary-sweet Christmas romance I was hoping for from Jay Northcote. Just ooey-gooey feels and family, like a big cup of hot chocolate.

Rudy was just so adorable. I'm a sucker for a dorky, secretly-sexy MC, and Rudy just fit that perfectly. I liked his big, loving family and the cozy setting of the story.

Just a sweet, new adult Christmas novella to get you into the spirit of the holidays.

Three of my all time favourite festive romances in one box set, yes please!

I've reviewed each one separately at the time of original publication so I won't go through them all again.

Best friends to lovers, forced proximity, stranded in the snow, family and friendship, British flair and humour- and a lost kitten who i think is just be a little bit magical, make these an absolute treat.

Grab yours now and indulge yourself.

The first of this season's Christmas reads! Because yeah, there will be others since there are so many Christmas books coming out this year. Is it a coincidence, or is it because 2020 has been a dumpster fire and authors are trying to provide comfort? I'm voting for the latter.

Anyway, the three stories in this book technically came out years ago. Though Jay Northcote does have a new book out as well. The three stories are Cold Feet, What Happens at Christmas, and A Family for Christmas. And they originally came out in 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively. And the quality kinda goes up with each story, which is both a good and bad thing. Good, because we get to see how Northcote improved as a writer each year, and bad, because the first story is kinda 'meh'. It wasn't bad, really. I just wasn't much invested in the romance or characters. It was short, though.

The second was a cute friends-to-lovers-slash-fake-boyfriends combo. And I happen to like both of those tropes. It was funny and the characters were likable. It was a feel-good story.

The third was the longest and my favourite. It's also the most likely to be memorable. There was just something about Rudy's transparent crush, and Zac slowing opening up in the presence of all the warmth that exuded from Rudy's family. Also, Rudy is such a adorable person, and I found it very sweet that Zac like Rudy as a person even when he wasn't interested in him romantically. It just felt nice to read about them.

Overall, I think it's a book worth checking out.

Cold Feet (4/5)
Sam and Ryan's romance was a bit clumsy, but very sweet. The whole "snowed-in with my straight best mate" premise isn't particularly revolutionary, but that didn't stop me from enjoying their awkward attempts at flirting. While it was undeniably cute to watch Sam and Ryan stumble into a friends-with-benefits arrangement, what really won me over was their sense of companionship and effortless intimacy. It takes a strong friendship to survive being trapped in a cabin with someone for days, but Sam and Ryan made it look easy. Mari's unexpected generosity added the perfect dash of Christmas spirit, and seeing how Sam and Ryan made things work outside of the holiday was the perfect way to round out this adorable novella.

What Happens at Christmas (5/5)
I'm a big fan of best friends to lovers romances, and this one was really nicely written! Justin and Sean gave me all the pent-up feelings and desperate longing that I love about these kinds of stories, and the convenient excuse to be pretend boyfriends just allowed them to get closer faster. Though the snowed-in vibes were very similar to the previous novella, Justin and Sean had years of close friendship that made every encounter feel weighted with emotions. These guys were laughably horrible at communicating, but that only made their steamy moments even more charged, saturated in the knowledge that this could be their only chance at intimacy. While Sean and Justin did manage to work things out in the end, I was a little disappointed by how quickly this story ended. I would have loved to see how their relationship evolved as they returned to work.

A Family for Christmas (5/5)
This story perfectly captured that feeling of warm happiness I associate with the Christmas holidays. I didn't know what to expect from Rudy and Zac, but their romance was the most touching and emotional by far. At first, it seemed like this was going to be a fun workplace fling, but when Rudy and Zac went home together for Christmas, everything changed for me. Seeing Rudy's family embrace Zac with open arms and unconditionally welcome him brought happy tears to my eyes. It was hard not to fall in love with Zac, even as he tried to maintain his prickly facade, when I understood the source of his fear to get close to anyone. Rudy was the perfectly persistent man to break down Zac's walls, and every time he didn't give up on Zac my heart soared with hope. Watching them come together at last was so satisfying, and seeing Zac get past his fear of relationships was even more heartwarming. This romance would have been beautiful without the Christmas backdrop, and adding a dose of festive cheer only enhanced my enjoyment.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Three great Christmas stories by the always amazing Jay Northcote!
I loved What Happens at Christmas and A Family for Christmas a bit better than Cold Feet, bot all three stories are great holyday reads.
Here are my individual reviews:
A Family For Christmas
I genuinely loved this story.
Zac and Rudy are so precious that I wanted to hug them both and just keep them with me forever!
I love how Jay Northcote can write characters that have so many facets to them, they are so complex and well-rounded that you cannot just sum them up in two words.
Rudy for example, is quite insecure, very shy and inexperienced in the romance department, and even being a couple of years older than Zac he often comes across as the one following other people’s lead. But he’s also the one who realizes Zac has triggers and hang-ups and so he starts a slow dance to step around those to get closer to him.
Zac has spent his life trying to keep people at arm’s length, but sweet Rudy barrels through all his defences, taking him home for Christmas, showing him a glimpse of the family life he’s never had and making him want things he never thought he deserved.
Low-angst but very emotional, this sweet romance really gave me all the Christmas feels!

What Happens at Christmas
Friends-to-lovers, faking being boyfriends and snowed in together over Christmas. This book has everything going on for it for being the perfect Holyday read, just the right amount of sweetness, fun and steaminess to keep the balance.
Sean and Justin have been in love with each other for most of their lives, but the time has never been right to tell the other, so they’ve each kept their pining a secret. I loved how one crack at a time they finally let their walls crumble to finally get what they want, and how that is actually very easy and feels so right.
A lovely story, warm and cozy like a blanket in front of the fireplace.

Cold Feet
All I want for Christmas is to learn to communicate better!
I loved all the premises: best friends secretly pining for each other, one of them struggling with admitting his sexuality; forced proximity with the two of them snowed in over Christmas; none of them sure the other wants to take things further than friendship.
But these two guys made me so mad! The lack of communication and assumptions Ryan and Sam jump to is absolutely maddening and frustrating. It takes one final, frankly completely unnecessary, fight for them to finally snap and stop with the half-mumbled sentences and barbs.
The book in enjoyable, all in all is a quick and cute and pretty sweet.

Overall Collection: 4.5 Stars

This book bundle includes three charming Christmas love stories, all of which share common themes beyond just the wintertime holiday, are low/no angst, and feature sweet cinnamon roll characters. All told, they make for a very heartwarming read.

Book 1: "Cold Feet" (4.5 Stars)
This is a very sweet friends-to-lovers, forced proximity Christmas romance. Intending to spend a couple of holiday break days with additional friends at a country cabin, college friends Sam and Ryan become snowed-in with only each other for several days over Christmas. They harbor secret crushes on each other but are reluctant to pursue it - Sam because he thinks Ryan is straight, and Ryan because he's unsure about his attraction and concerned it'd affect their friendship - but their curiosity and mutual attraction proves too much to deny. They are a very sweet couple, and their HEA back in the real world is worth the bit of angst leading up to it.

Book 2: "What Happens at Christmas" (4 Stars)
I recently listened to (and reviewed) the audio of "What Happens at Christmas," which is a charming friends-to-lovers romance with childhood friends Justin and Sean taking their relationship to a new level while Sean is visiting over the holidays. What begins as Sean posing as Justin"s boyfriend for an office Christmas party attended by Justin's cheating ex soon extends beyond the party as their true feelings for each other come to light. It's a warm, low/no angst story with plenty of steam and holiday spirit.

Book 3: "A Family for Christmas" (5 Stars)
This is my favorite of the three stories because it's the most in-depth and hit me right in the feels. Rudy's new colleague and secret dream-guy Zac agrees to accompany Rudy to his family's country home for Christmas, and Rudy doesn't correct his mother upon assuming they're boyfriends. With some forced proximity thrown in, their relationship tentatively progresses from co-workers to friends to friends-with-benefits to much more over the holiday. Zac had a tough upbringing and has built up heart-protecting walls that Rudy and his wonderful family slowly chip away at, and it's all very endearing and heartfelt. Both are such sweethearts. Not to mention, Rudy's parents are a hoot! I wouldn't mind spending the holidays with their family, no doubt it'd be entertaining.

In “Cold Feet,” college flatmates Sam and Ryan end up snowed in together in an adorable cottage, where the feelings each secretly had for each other finally start to show.
In “What Happens at Christmas,” Justin and Sean, best friends since childhood, end up faking a relationship for a company Christmas party that allows them to explore the kind of couple they could be in real life.
In “A Family for Christmas,” reserved Zac ends up going home with adorkable Ruby for Christmas, where he gets a chance to be part of some things-- a family, a relationship -- he’s never had before.

I really enjoyed all 3 of these stories, although “A Family for Christmas” is hands down my favorite: Rudy is a fantastic character, shy but brave, sweetly honest and strong enough to do battle with all of Zac’s insecurities while vanquishing his own. Plus, kitten.

There are some awesome common threads that run through the stories: there will be an adorable animal or two. There will be massive amounts of snow. There will be protagonists who are relatable and perfect for each other. One of the author’s strengths, I think, is the way her characters navigate the realities of young adulthood, and it’s both fun and heartwarming to see them work out who they want to be, how they want a relationship to work, and what their lives might look like with a serious partner (often their first one). He’s also a master, I think, of that particular kind of gratifyingly frustrating plot device, where problems could be solved by...wait for it...clear communication, but it takes just the right interval of time for the characters themselves to figure it out. Highly recommend this story collection: it’s a great read.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you enjoy Christmas collections, you'll love this Jay Northcote book set. Christmas Crackers is a collection of three previously released stories. I enjoyed each of these stories when they were originally released, and it's a treat to read them again.

In Cold Feet, we get a delightful friends to lovers romance. Their tale includes forced proximity in the form of a snowstorm, and a wonderful setting. Sam has long been in love with Ryan, but Ryan's never been into guys. What follows is a warm and tender out for you story. You'll love this story of falling in love with your best friend during a snowstorm.

What Happens at Christmas is a fantastic romance. I love this friends to lovers tale. Justin's the man who never had to come out because everyone just assumed he was gay. Sean meanwhile was slow to come out. With some forced proximity, and a pretend boyfriend moment, these two finally get a chance to admit their feelings. And it's all perfectly charming and passionate.

A Family For Christmas is the romance of Rudy and Zac. This is a co-workers romance with a Christmas party that helps break down some of the reclusive Zac's walls. What follows is Zac joining Rudy for the holidays. It's a tale of learning to trust, and of family. You'll adore the secondary characters, who make for some awesome family holiday moments. Their story is one of fake boyfriends which turns to more.

Overall, Christmas Crackers is a charming and sweet collection of three holiday romances. I like that each story revolves around people who already know one another, but just need that special nudge to get together. Jay Northcote will definitely leave you in the mood for Christmas and believing in the magic of love.

All three stories in Christmas Crackers were super sweet, and perfect 5 star holiday reads.

Cold Feet
Ryan & Sam are both great main characters and their super sweet low angst love story was a perfect holiday read. Sam and Ryan have both had feelings for each other but they’re both so nervous they’ll ruin their friendship they never said anything. After getting snowed in together they both have to decide if they can be brave enough to ask for what they really want. I love friends to lovers stories and this one was done perfectly. It was a quick read but worth every second. I absolutely adored their story.

What Happens At Christmas
A super cute and well written friends to lovers/fake boyfriend story. Sean & Justin have been friends nearly their whole lives and both are too scared of ruining their friendship to admit their true feelings. After a fake kiss at an office party they spend the night together. Their bumbling awkwardness afterwards is so adorable. This is a low angst love story with a super sweet HEA.

A Family For Christmas
Rudy is a shy, inexperienced man with a crush on his new coworker. Zac is a closed off man with no desire to allow people into his life. Once Rudy learns Zac is going to be alone for Christmas he can’t help but invite him home for Christmas. Rudy is so sweet Zac can’t help but let Rudy in. During the visit to Rudy’s home Zac has to decide if he wants to follow his heart, or if he wants to stay closed off. This was a sweet, low angst story about two men finding each other at the perfect time.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

A collection of Northcote's previously published Christmas stories, I really enjoyed these. Northcote was one of the first m/m authors I ever read, and to this day, one of my favourites too. Overall, this collection is perfect for easy, adorable Christmas reads that capture the magic of the season and are relaxing to read and enjoy without much angst or effort.

Cold Feet features friends Sam and Ryan, snowed in, and finding out a few things. It's a light, easy read, and Northcote avoids any serious angst. While the lack of communication seems unnecessary, it fuels the storyline, and isn't dragged out to the point of frustrating. Its a romantic friends to lovers trope that manages to do well in the short format.

What Happens at Christmas is one I'd read before - featuring another friends to lovers storyline, it's a sweet story with Justin and Sean only one proper conversation away from their HEA. It would definitely be a frustrating story, but in the short story format it works and the shared assumptions both men make is adorable since you know the inevitable and adorable ending.

A Family for Christmas continues the feel good vibes - Zac doesn't have any plans for Christmas, so shy Rudy invites him to join his family for Christmas. While this is still a cute, heartwarming and well composed story, it's my least favourite, with neither main character feeling as well developed, or the storyline as strong as the other two - some of the plot devices feel forced to create the romance, and while there is a clear development arc (especially for Zac), there was some magic missing.

Christmas Crackers is a collection of three previously released holiday stories by Mr. Northcote. I usually enjoy this author’s writing. I hadn’t read these titles yet, so I was excited when the opportunity to get them, as a set, arose.

Despite sharing the author’s trademark smooth, unhurried style and likable characters, I really liked that they all had different tropes fueling the plots. Cold Feet is a bi-awakening, forced proximity romance in which weather leads friends to discover something more between them. What Happens at Christmas is another friends-to-lovers story, but this one involves a fake relationship. In A Family for Christmas, an office place romance develops between new coworkers. The stories are all well developed, with a noticeable connection simmering between the men. While I wouldn’t say that these romances were overwhelmingly filled with physical scenes, they weren’t light on them either, and I liked that each couple stood apart in their physical and emotional connections.

Each book in the Christmas Crackers bundle taps into holiday cheer with a brightness that captured the season, all while providing a lovely, low angst story. If you’re a fan of seasonal romances, this is an excellent deal.

I loved these three stories. Each one had its own special uniqueness.
In Cold feet we meet two best friends who are so in love with each other but one is still in the closet. It's a great story about getting snowed in and giving into your feelings even if they are scary. I really loved Sam and Ryan, they were the perfect mix of friends but not wanting to ruin everything and the cases of "he doesn't feel the same way" are delightful if frustrating at times. Also, all the cats at the neighbors just made my heart melt.
In What Happens At Christmas we meet a different set of long time friends. Justin and Sean have both been in love with each other for so long and I loved how they finally were single and at the same place at the same time. I loved seeing the fake relationship that opens them up to admit that they've both had crushes on each other fo forever. I loved all of the Christmas antics they get up to.
In Family for Christmas we meet Rudy and Zac, two colleagues who spend Christmas together when Zac admits he doesn't have a family to spend Christmas with. I really enjoyed watching Zac learn to trust in Rudy and learn that he can rely on others. I loved watching these two come together and fall in love.
The scenes in these books were amazing and steamy. I loved every second of reading this. It was so Christmasy and wonderful. I would definitely recommend this book.

Giving this 4 stars overall, with ratings for individual stories below. I liked the first story the best, probably because it features a fav trope - snowed-in cozy cabin vibes.

Cold Feet - 4 stars. Lots of tropes I love - snowed in at Christmas in a small cottage, friends to lovers, mistletoe, a kitten rescue, we need to share a bed to keep warm. I really enjoyed this, it made me want to rent an English cottage in winter.
What Happens at Christmas - 3.5 stars. This also has a snowed-in vibe, but in the city, and is also friends to lovers, but with fake dating too (one of my least favorite tropes). Cute story but I think I wanted them to get past their miscommunication and assumptions sooner. There’s a subplot with Sean’s dad that was pretty thin and could’ve been eliminated in favor of more focus on the romance.
A Family for Christmas - 3.5 stars. The set-up of this one seemed less realistic than the other two stories. Rudy invites coworker Zac to his family’s Christmas celebration. They had a brief hookup (mostly kissing) after a work holiday party but are barely acquaintances, so I had a hard time believing Zac would travel with Rudy to his childhood home. Both characters are interesting and really adorable together. Rudy’s family was a bit much but I liked how welcoming they were toward Zac. This also had a kitten rescue that was pretty similar to the first story, but still was pretty cute. Overall an enjoyable if kind of predictable story.

A collection of sweet Christmas novellas - feel good warm low angst stories.

A Family for Christmas *** 4.5 *** - my favorite in the bundle
Adorable MCs each one insecure in his own way that unexpectedly fit together, sweet romance, family time, finding love and a place/person where you belong - everything you need for a great Christmas story. Warm comfort read

What Happens at Christmas *** 4 ***
Best friend to lovers/pretend boyfriend Christmas novella. MCs were sweet and cute together. It took time for both to find the courage and voice their feelings but surprisingly it didn't bother me. When it comes to being in love with your best friend, there is too much to lose if it doesn't work. Love was always there and transition to real boyfriends felt inevitable and organic.

Cold Feet - *** 3.5 ***
Sweet college Christmas romance. The first part when MCs were snowed in the cottage and explored their feelings for each other was really good. However, the ending felt a bit rushed with an abrupt coming out. Plus some miscommunication. Tentative HEA

Solid 4 stars for the collection

These three stories are perfect in this little collection. I enjoyed them all very much and if you're looking for some sweet, sexy and touching Christmas stories I definitely recommend this book.

Cold Feet

This is a super cute Christmas short. I loved Sam and Ryan. I really enjoyed the friends to lovers and forced proximity. I also loved the addition of Mari, the old woman in the cottage next door, and all her cats. If you're looking for a super sweet holiday story, look no further.

What Happens at Christmas

So cute! This story left me grinning from ear to ear. A little fake boyfriend turned real boyfriend is one of my favorites! There was a little angst because both Justin and Sean were pining hard. Once they finally learned to communicate it was smooth sailing and a Merry Christmas.

A Family for Christmas

Squee! This story is super sweet and emotional. I really loved Rudy and Zac. This  story is all about family and finding the place you belong. It's also got some hot sexy times as well as a adorable kitten. It's made me anxious for Christmas so I can see my family and exchange gifts.

3 sweet holiday romances

In “Cold Feet” we meet college roommates Sam and Ryan who after being snow in together realize each harbors feelings for each other that exceed the bonds of friendship. In “What Happens at Christmas” childhood best friends Justin and Sean push the boundaries of their relationship when playing a couple at a company Christmas party. Finally, in “A Family for Christmas” two very different personalities learn that maybe opposites can attract. Zac, who is very reserved, ends up going home with a very quirky Rudy for Christmas where he finds himself involved in a relationship and part of a family, two things which he has never had.

I never have to wonder if I’m going to like a book written by Jay. I enjoy his style, the way he personalizes his characters, and the depth of his storylines. Each of these holiday stories embodied everything I’ve come to expect from a story from this author. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.

All three of these stories will get you into the holiday spirit and all three of them are memorable in their own way.

There is a bit of angst in Justin and Sean's story, but the best friends who attend a holiday party which leads to more leads you rooting for the two men and cheering when they admit their feelings.

Ryan and Sam's story is more wistful because the two are stuck in a remote cabin together and the winter wonderland lead them both the truth they'd denies themselves for so long.

But my favorite is Rudy and Zac's story. Rudy admits his crush on his co-worker and although flattered, lets him down easily. When Rudy learns Zac is alone for the holidays, he invites him to his parent's for Christmas. What ensues is a slow burn romance between the two men. Zac is in awe of Rudy and his family and he opens himself up to the celebration of Christmas and the possibility of more with Rudy.

A great Christmas collection and three must read stories!!

🎀 Sweet couplings with steam too😉

4➕🌟stars average for the three
Each of these three holiday MM romances start with some unrequited yearning that, thanks to the magic and festivities at Christmas, find a steamy and romantic end.

Two feature long-term friends, one couple stranded for Christmas alone in a frigid country cottage due to a freak snow and the other a Christmas party where they masquerade as a couple and things heat up.

But my favorite (5🌟 stars) was the third story, A Family for Christmas, where new office colleagues Rudy and Zac share a big, fun, cozy family Christmas in the English countryside and loner Zac finds himself swamped in family and acceptance that he's never before experienced.

All three stories sport plenty of heat and steam along with the romantic bits. No silver foxes or age gaps involved here, just young guys finding their certain someone.

I read a complimentary copy of the book collection; this is my voluntary and honest review.

There is a great holiday, Christmassy feel to all three of these stories. However, I struggled with the connection between the characters in a couple of them. In the first story, Cold Feet, Ryan and Sam get snowed in a cabin together over Christmas. And while it is sweet at times, they didn't communicate as much as I would have liked. I get they have a back story and are best friends, but it didn't feel like that at times. And as such, I wasn't too invested in them finally sorting out what they truly felt for each other.

Justin and Sean's story, however, has a little more angst and a little more emotion to it. It's hard to pinpoint why exactly, but I felt their connection more and I was actually cheering for these two. Overall, this is a fun, sweet and festive read.

This was sooo good. I loved getting three fantastic Christmas stories from one of my favorite authors! In Cold Feet we get Ryan and Sam who are best friends. They have been secretly pining for each other. They go on holiday with some friends. Their friend’s never make it and they are stranded there alone and its so cold they must share a bed to stay warm. In What Happens at Christmas, Justin and Sean pose as boyfriends. They were in love with each other but afraid to tell the other. In A Family for Christmas we get to meet Rudy and Zac. It was a sweet workplace fake romance. This is an excellent collection. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.

Whatever your situation in life whether you’re friends to lovers like Ryan and Sam, snowed in together on holiday. Perhaps like Sean and Justin, you’re using the “fake boyfriend“ to help keep your pride from an ex at the Christmas party. Rudy and Zac, work mates and so much more. These three stories, all together in this collection, all combine romance and the holidays to give the reader nice Christmas sweetness. All three conclude with happy endings and a holiday sweetness that’s a perfect gift you can give yourself. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

I hadn’t read these stories when they were originally published so having them all together in one collection was perfect. I thought I could read each in one setting, but they are not short reads, more novelettes so you might want to take your time. These couples met in 2015, 2016 and 2017 when social distancing was not an issue thus the headline of my review: these are stories that bring you back to what Christmas time should be, a time of gathering, loving, a time of strong feelings and deep connections. Very enjoyable read

The only thing better than one Jay Northcote Christmas book is a set of three. As always with this author, the emotions all feel completely realistic, nothing is every over the top or too melodramatic and you root for the characters to get their HEA from the first time you see them together. I loved all the stories, but I must admit a special fondness for Sam and Ryan getting snowed in together in a cabin in Wales and discovering that they had feelings for each other they'd never expressed. This was a great take on the forced proximity trope and perfect for the holidays.

A Triple collection of great stories

This is a great holiday themed collection of romances, all three of the stories are fantastic and are all really good individual stories from Jay Northcote.
COLD FEET this is a lovely friends to lovers romance where two Uni students have fallen in love with each other. It's only when they end up on their own in a cottage in Wales that they feel able to start to share their feelings. I really enjoyed reading the collection of stories, they're long enough to give you enough details but still a fairly light read.

This was a cute and fluffy compilation as expected, though I only read the first two (large family dynamics are not my deal so I skipped the third).

The first two were both cute, but they were very similar in terms of plot and the inevitable miscommunication/relationship development phase, so they were a bit on the less interesting side because of that. Even with the fake relationship part of the second one, it didn't make it stand out as much from the first. Overall, they were simple reads, but nothing special.

This is a nice collection of three different stories. Each one is centered around two people discovering there is more to their relationship than meets the eye at Christmas. The author does a great job of creating characters that you can quickly become invested in. All of these kind of center around fake relationships or those that are assumed to be what they aren’t in a loose sort of way. A good group to get you in a holiday mood.

A perfect way to spend an afternoon in front of the fire, drinking cocoa all nice and cozy. This has the special magic of Christmas wrapped round it and is really sweet and even magical. Some people just need a little help admitting their feelings to each other but each of these couples were well developed and really interesting to read about, I was engrossed in each one of their journeys and every one of them were heartwarming and oozed that special feeling.

Three nice stories for the holidays!

All three stories focus on couples that have feelings for each other but are worries about sharing their feelings with the other person. Unfortunately this leads to communication issues and hurt feelings that may have been avoid with putting aside time to speak with each other.

Jay certainly knew how to put together a sweet little collection to snuggle under the blanket with a hot cup of tea on a snowy day.
