I heard my father was born with a faint mark on his forehead, but not me. I'm definitely not a chosen one. But even if I don't have the powers of a chosen one, there are times in life when you simply can't back down. Because there are monsters in this world. Monsters with no souls. Monsters who take life without hesitation, remorse or regret. [Tanjiro]

With volume 10 we continue the confrontation between our heroes and the demons in the entertainment district. It seems that Tengen's arrival gave the three young demon slayers the upper hand they needed to win, it's a Hashira after all, but one Hashira's already been lost in the battle. Can we manage to lose another?

"I decide who shines the brightest and takes priority. You three come first, then reliable assistants, and then me." [Tengen]

I needed to start my review with Tengen, because I can't explain how deep of a soft spot I have for him after the entertainment district arc. As you know, I had trouble liking him at first. He had been rude towards the Butterfly Mansion residents and his enormous ego felt irritating. But I quickly realized that behind all the flashy persona is a heartwarming person who cares deeply about others, so much so that he is willing to put them above himself (which is something a true narcissist would never do). I love characters like this! And, well, he's cool as hell when he fights!

Also, I have to say that him lovingly patting the heads of his wives in reassurance means much more to me than if he brought them in his arms and kissed them. Truly. What a man! 😌

"People who get angry for the sake of others don't worry about themselves. Because of that you could lose everything, and that scares me." [Takeo Kamado]

I think already expressed, multiple times I believe, how much I love the constant comeback of the deceased Kamado family members and that they have an influence on their still living and breathing relatives. These characters could've been easily forgotten for the sake of the other plot points and flashy fights, but, fortunately, that wasn't the case. I love every moment they show up and help Tanjiro and Nezuko fight their battles. It's always so emotional and impactful.

Oh no... your face is burned. And you were so cute. When you have an asset like that, you have to protect it." [Gyutaro]

I have to admit that I wasn't a fan of either of the demon siblings when I watched the anime. I rolled my eyes when Daki burst into tears and her brother suddenly showed up. I felt more annoyed than entertained. But now, while reading the manga, all I have felt was deep sorrow for both of the siblings. Daki's tears were no longer the sight of a demon who was full of itself until it started losing the fight showing its true self. I no longer saw a demon, I saw a young girl who had been scared and had been calling her brother for help and reassurance. And Gyutaro delivered. He came in clutch, making sure to comfort his sister first and then facing the man who hurt her. And, guys, I love sibling stories so much!

"Shall we dance?" [Tengen]

The Tengen vs Gyutaro fight is one of my favorites in Demon Slayer, hands down. But what that fight had also shown us was the huge difference in strength between Tanjiro and a Hashira (Tengen). Tanjiro would have been easily killed if Tengen hadn't intervened. It's Tengen, and Tengen only, who can keep up with Gyutaro, and it's painfully obvious how much Tanjiro still needs to learn. Heck, Tengen's ridiculously strong, but even he isn't safe while facing an opponent like Gyutaro, so what could Tanjiro do? It looks like we can lose Tengen at any moment, just like we lost Rengoku. Gyutaro's the strongest demon we have faced so far, and in a pair with his sister, he's even stronger. Can we win this battle or will we lose someone again? We will see in the next volume! ;)

P.S. I love how we see and feel the damage that Tanjiro is getting in the fights. His injures aren't just mentioned to be brushed off, no, they are truly impactful in his fight scenes.

P.P.S. Why am I not surprised that Tengen's crow is a fashion leader in the crow world? 😂

This was a great one. We start off the fight between Daki and Tanjiro and he is getting his grip on Hinokami Kagura and its so wonderful to see his mastery over it and the art is phenomenal especially as he is fighting her and the way challenging her and then Tengen comes in. But when it looks like she is defeated her brother Gyutaro comes in and then becomes the main trouble. Its a fight on multiple ends as they have to fight them and save the Entertainment district.

This was a good volume and just the battle scenes mostly and less exposition and it has everything. Some amazing moments for Tanjiro as he is fighting them and we get to see the origin of Inosuke too which was cute and I love how Tengen and Rengoku were shown almost similar in these circumstances and thereby helping in the growth of Tanjiro. The character work here is phenomenal and the artwork just gets better with every issue.

The mind of Gotouge sensei, my god. The fighting scenes are so beautifully draw!! I can't wait to see all of that battle animated, and the rest that has to happen.

For me, Tanjiro looks already as a Hashira, he's so damn strong and brave already, I can't believe is the same guy a few volumes ago training to break that thing at Butterfly Mansion.

TENGEN UZUI. I freaking love you. Such a great character really.

This story is getting better and better every single time, I'm beyond satisfied reading this!!

That male Demon is indeed strong. Also it is so cute for Zenitsu to be awake this long to fight alongside Inosuke.

Demon Slayer is firing on all cylinders in this volume.

With the elite demon showing her face Tanjiro tries to make a final stand but Demon Slayer is known to be pretty fair, and even if you have the famous anime "never give up" doesn't mean you will. ON top of that we have a higher upper rank Demon Slayer on the move, who will he save first? Can he save anyone? Big battles continue here, high stakes, and lots of carnage.

This is hands down one of my favorite mangas right now. The fights here are so well drawn I felt like I was watching it in action. Also, holy shit, how amazing is this new demon? Scary and a challenge. The heroes won't give up but that doesn't mean they won't lose people. The comedy still sprinkles in here and there and it's funny as can be.

It's gonna be tough waiting for volume 11...A 5 out of 5.

I have to give it to Koyoharu Gotouge for the drastic improvement in the art style. When the series started everything looked so basic and static, but now, it looks amazing and vivid, ranging from phenomenal action scenes to the minimal funny scenes.

The battle with oiran demoness Daki in the entertainment district is now heating up and she’s not alone, even Tanjiro’s honest words don’t effect her. The best surprise is seeing Nezuko entering the fray and seeing her fighting skills. A bonus story also humorous sums up Inosuke’s origins. A (100%/Outstanding)

Lecture en demi-teinte. On a des révélations qui nous font briller les yeux mais le récit est incroyablement lent.

Toutefois, les planches sont magnifiques.

The only complaint I have for this volume is that the opening pages (after the flashback) is a little confusing. Basically, in the time that Uzui took down the obis, they manages to escape, but readers didn't see them escape and when Inosuke says they escaped, Uzui berates Inosuke and praises his wives for saving the captives, but that didn't really have anything to do with the obis escaping. I get that the take-away from this exchange is that a). the obis escaped and b). Uzui's really proud of his wives, it just wasn't told or shown well and it felt kind of unnatural. It's not enough to dock too many points because, like I said, I understand the information being relayed, but it felt rushed and unnatural. Okay, moving on to the fun stuff!

It broke my heart seeing Nezuko become more demonic, but her powers are so fucking dope and seeing her kick the shit out of that demon was THE BEST! Also, Tanjiro singing her a lullaby to calm her down was so damn sweet and cute and it made my heart swell! The Hinokami Kagura is so fucking cool, but I'm curious as to whether Tanjiro is fusing it with water breathing techniques, only because the spiral technique he used looked a lot like the water wheel breathing technique, but I guess only time will tell.

I'm glad we got some backstory on Uzui, especially in relation to his family. Family is the primary theme in this series, and since we've seen other Hashira members with their families, I was curious about his. My favorite part was when he mentioned how he didn't want to be like his brother, who was cold, heartless, and considered his wife only good for making children. It reinforces the idea that despite his arrogance, bossiness, and abrasive personality, he's a genuinely good person and knows what he wants and how to treat others. However, real quick, *hands clasped in prayer* Gotouge, for the love of all that is fucking holy and good in this world, PLEASE DON'T KILL UZUI!! I really do love this character now and I want to see more of him, so please, PLEASE don't kill him!!!

On a side note, I love how unfathomably few fucks Gotouge seems to give about explaining how Inosuke speaks human language fluently. Not only was that side story super short, it really did look like it was just there to explain how he knows human language and that's it. I fucking loved it, thank you Gotouge.

Anyway, this was a great volume and I'm so curious to see where the story goes from here. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long!

Now we're talking, NOW WE'RE TALKING!!!

Maybe is because the previous volume wasn't as good as i was expecting but this one here was awesome. Full of action and a good story. This volume was fast-paced but there were enough pauses to let the story marinate, really good job.

I like the new "power-ups", i don't want to spoil anything so 'm just gonna say that i'm liking it a lot and can't wait to see were this goes.

That was good. Nice to finally have Nezuko go all all out on the other lady demon. There was a lot of drama with this volume. The fighting was good though it was getting a bit hard to see in some panels. Until the next volume.
