Lady Charity loves the Christmas season. But can she convince the Lord Benedict of the joys of the Christmas season? And perhaps find love along the way?
Lady Charity is a little disappointed. With her older sisters now wed, it is her turn to experience London society but, unfortunately, she must attend during the winter, when it is quiet and a little less exciting. However, determined to do her best, she steps into a wintery London and into society.
Guided by Lady Hayward, Charity finds herself rather delighted with society—all save for one particular gentleman who, for whatever reason, has never a kind word to say to anyone. Despite knowing she should step away, Charity finds herself quite intrigued by him, wondering what it might be that troubles him so and soon finds herself quite determined to improve his demeanour.
Benedict, the Marquess of Hosmer, has always despised the festive season, ever since his betrothed cried off. Now, for whatever reason, he has met the most frustrating young lady who is more than eager to convince him of the happiness that can be found at Christmas time. The more he pushes her away, the more determined she becomes.
Will he ever be able to free himself from her? Or will her gentle sweetness bring him closer to her than ever before?
This is the fourth book in the Landon House series, where Lady Hayward and the Duke of Landon form an alliance to assist each other with difficulties of their family life.
Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother.
She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her.
She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.
On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

I loved how Charity wormed her way into Benedict’s heart & how they both fell in love. The road to their HEA seemed to be on track until his past arrives to throw a spanner in the works. This is the fourth book in the series but is easily read as a stand alone. A heart warming festive read My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
It has been a long time since I disliked a male lead so much. Lord Hosmer was rude and immature and weird. He’s apparently still hung up on a heartbreak he received three years ago (like still angry and depressed about it) to the point where he gets incredibly drunk when the woman returns to town. But don’t worry… he suddenly gets over it and falls for someone else… like a second later… someone else who he previously had been rude to over and over again because he’s so hung up on the previous woman. The woman who rejected him then wants him back and turns into a complete psycho. Scheming and lying and acting full on crazy. Honestly it was too much!

Lady Charity was a kind hearted, considerate lady and was in London with Lady Hayward for the purpose of finding a husband. Lady Hayward was there with her usual good advice and guidance. Benedict, Marquess of Hosmer, was also in London but due to previous experience, didn’t rejoice in the season of winter and Christmas. Charity is determined to help him see things differently. As they are in each other’s company so they begin to see each other in a different light. However, not everyone is happy at this situation and a rival for Hosmer’s affection is out to spoil things. This was an entertaining read with likeable characters. Lady Hayward has been so helpful to others that I would love for her to have a happy ending too. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A really charming read which captures the spirit of the season! Lady Charity is determined to show her Scrooge the meaning of love and kindness...even against his wishes.
Extremely predictable story line. The heroine is a 17- 18 yr old debutante who dabbles in free counselling to our morose wallowing in self-pity hero. Borung characters too.
Rose Pearson writes wonderful historical romance books. I always look forward to her next book Rose is such a talented author.
lA Christmas match, had me reading on into the late night, so I could discover what happened to our heroine, Lady Charity.
Lord Benedict Hosmer was jilted by his fiancee in favour of another lord, causing Lord Hosner to go into a decline. Lord Hosner saw no happiness or joy in his life, hated Christmas and made life a little difficult for everyone who cared.
Lady Charity is dispatched to London with Lady Hayward as her chaperone, for the winter season, her dad feels she needs a husband to share her life.
Lady charity develops some feeling for Lord Hosner and finds herself having to face his past fiancee and fight for the man that she loves. I very much enjoyed this book by Rose, there was a lot of misunderstanding, miscommunication twists and turns, lies, deception, and cruel people. The characters are fun to read about, as they conquer their own and each others quirks and hurts.
Please do read the authors blurb for more information, I have no hesitation in recommending this book to you.

This story was so good that when I reached the end, I could not believe it!!!! I did not want it to end. I wanted more and more. This series is very, very good and I am glad to have been reading from the beginning. This is the story of the Duke of Landon's fourth daughter Lady Charity Forrest and Lord Benedict the Marquess of Hosmer. Lady Hayward once again is chaperoning one of the Duke's daughters. I like Lady Hayward. A very steady woman with wisdom, astuteness, insight and a genuine concern for others. Charity is a sweet young lady. Honest, truthful, kind and thoughtful. She is always considering the other persons point of view and how they may be feeling. She is a polite and dutiful daughter. She is a calm influence on those around her and her smile one can tell is genuine as it shines bright for others. Yet she is human and is vulnerable to doubt like anyone else. Luckily Lady Hayward has been a steady sounding board for Charity's thoughts. In the end she always makes the best decision possible wanting to give others the benefit of the doubt. Although sometimes it is hard for her. Now as for Lord Benedict he is not pleasant to be around. He experienced a seriously distressing heartbreaking event during the Christmastide season. He has become a shell of the man he once was and kept the pain and agony of the event ever present with him for around three years straight. He carries himself with a stern, aloof manner that exudes " don't bother". He has decided that Christmastide would never ever be joyful for him again. When Charity meets Benedict, she is curious as to why he is the way he is but she keeps that to herself. As Benedict had come to Charity aid twice, she felt the need to do what she could to aid him in finding joy in the Christmas season. Thus, began their relationship. It was filled with its ups and downs but Charity was making inroads with Benedict. He even confirmed it. One day however his past came to haunt him once one and threw his world upside down. Any positive effect Charity had made was made moot. This is really a mature and sensitive book. It focuses on the deep feelings and emotions of Benedict and Charity. A very good read and I do recommend it.

4. A Christmas Match 4 stars I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance A Christmas Match: Lady Charity and Lord Benedict. The Marquess of Hosmer in the Landon House: A Regency Romance Boxset by Rose Pearson and this review was given freely. I enjoyed the realistic characters, the drama and watching lady Charity and Lord Benedicts relationship unfold. The Duke of Landon sends his fourth daughter Lady Charity to spend the Little Season of Winter in London in hopes of her finding a spouse. As she grows closer to the morose and embittered Lord Benedict, fortune hunters try to not only force them apart but also to trap them into marriages with someone else. Contains the sad themes of depression and excessive alcohol consumption but ends happily. 5. A Most Suitable Bride 5 stars I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance A Most Suitable Bride: Lady Maria and Lord Isaac the Earl of Ridlington in the Landon House: A Regency Romance Boxset by Rose Pearson and this review was given freely. Containing two romances, this clean instant attraction story features a couple who finds love despite preconceived ideas of what a perfect match would be. Desperate and despondent after an unsuccessful year of London Seasons, the bluestocking scholarly Lady Maria, with the help of Lady Haywards’s daughter Sophia changes her image to appear more reserved and accomplished to provide the façade of a perfect debutant to attract a suitor. Lies, misconceptions, greed, and a father’s bias cause heart break and challenge Lady Maria and Lord Isaac’s fragile bond. 6. An Expectation of Love 4 stars I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance An Expectation of Love: Lady Dorothea and Lord Oliver, Earl of Winford in the Landon House: A Regency Romance Boxset by Rose Pearson and this review was given freely. A nice conclusion to the series. This instant attraction romance contains a fair amount of drama, depicts multiple forms of greed, self-entitlement, and subterfuge, includes Dorothea’s rocky quest for romance, and provides glimpses of romance between Mrs. Hayward and the Duke of Landon. The carefree, self-entitled, and spoiled Dorothea is guided through her first season in London where she makes many false assumptions while growing closer to the ungainly but protective Earl of Winford.
The Duke of Landon is a widower with six daughters !! He has made an arrangement with Lady Hayward during his first two daughters coming out. She will help and teach his daughters about society and be there for them at their coming out. In return he will show her sons how manage their estates. This has worked out great and three of his daughter have found their matches. Now it is time for Charity. She thought she would be enjoying the spring/summer season. Till her father tells her that she is to go to London for the Little Season instead. This takes place during Christmas and the balls and crowds are smaller. She is disappointed but glad to see Lady Hayward again. Charity soon founds the little season has a lot to offer and she is enjoying it. Till she meets The Marquess of Hosmer, Benedict. He is a friend of Lord and Lady Ramsbury. Lady Hayward late husband was best friends with Lord Ramsbury father. As the couples run into each other at balls and dinners Charity finds Benedict rude and wallowing in some sort of self-pity. He is always grumpy. Charity on the other hand is one who always sees something good and wonderful in any situation she finds herself. I found the conversations between them wonderful. It will take a lot of Christmas magic to help this couple find what is really important. It is a quick read, with a slow burn attraction between them. Charity vows to repay Benedict when he helped her. She is going to try to get him to enjoy the season and stop being grumpy. Benedict can't forget or get over what happened to him four years ago at Christmas. This is a good clean read. I only wish we could have seen more affection between them before the ending. The characters are great, you will love some, want to yell at other to wake up and find a couple you will just want to slap for their behavior. I hope you give it a try am guessing you will love it too. I received and ARC from the author and want to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am voluntarily giving it.
❄️❄️ONE OUTSTANDING DELIGHT❄️❄️ Mesmerizing! Throw in some captivating drama, riveting intrigue, dishonest schemes, deceptive deeds, spiraling suspense and intense situations, you have one jaw dropping adventure, merging this gem together seamlessly. Remarkable job Rose, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
A Regency Version of Ghost of Christmas Girlfriends Past
A Christmas Match by Rose Pearson is an entertaing sweet Regency romance set at Christmas time. It is part of a series, Landon House, where the Duke of Landon, enlists the help of Lady Hayward, in helping his daughter's find their perfect match. A Christmas Match is book four of the series. It can be read as a stand alone, as I did, though, there is some mention of characters from previous books.
I enjoy Rose Pearson's peak at Regency England. She has a way with words that makes her settings come alive. In a Christmas Match, I could see the ballrooms decorated for Christmas, filled with guests in their finery! It was a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit!
A Christmas Match is an easy-to-read, entertaining, short novel; perfect for those times you need a break from daily stresses. You can settle down on the couch in front of warm fire, with a cup of Christmas Spice tea and this novel without guilt over all the tasks you still need to do. Rose has a talent for packing a lot of romance as well as the drama and dilemmas that you find whenever the "ton" get together. She even includes an evil manipulative member of society to offset the hero something to do! Her heroines are not the usual damsel in distress. Like Charity, in A Christmas Match, Rose creates female characters who know their own minds and are strong enough to hold out for a man who treats them well. You won't go wrong if you pick up A Christmas Match for a lovely romp through Regency England this holiday season.
The Christmas Season brings with it the Little Season in London. Benedict, the Marquess of Hosmer, has come to London for the Season. But due to an unfortunate rejection of betrothal three years ago, he despises Christmas. He comes to play cards and partake of the spirit found in drinking. Lady Charity, the daughter of the Duke of Landon thought she would be experiencing the Spring/Summer Season but finds she must attend the Little Season. Lady Hayward will be with her to guide her clothing choices then introduce her into society. Lady Charity is introduced to Benedict. She is very upset about his attitude toward Christmas and is determined to change it. This challenge seems to be going well. Enter Lady Norwich.......She is now a widow. She has decided after three years to return to society with the aim of reclaiming the man she rejected then...Lord Hosmer. Will Lady Norwich achieve her quest or will Lady Charity efforts change Lord Hosmer outlook on Christmas? Will the Magic of Christmas prevail? I enjoyed the well defined, colorful, well fleshed characters. I also found the winter London Christmas Season intriguing and vividly described. This story was well thought out and well written. This is book # 4 in the London House series. It can be read as a stand alone. I volunteered to read A Christmas Match. My opinion is voluntary and my own. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lady Charity is now to enter London society. Unfortunately, the timing is not the best since she must attend during the winter which has fewer balls and parties. But guided by Lady Hayward, Charity is still happy to take her turn in London, with a spirit that always finds the best in everything. She takes note of one man, however, who seems very grumpy and unhappy. Instead of driving her away, this instead intrigues her to find out what has made him so miserable. And, of course, she wants to fix his problem.
Benedict, the Marquess of Hosmer, hates the Christmas season because his betrothed left him and it brings back those painful, embarrassing memories. Lady Charity is continually annoying him by trying to tell him about the happiness he is missing, and she won’t be dissuaded! How can he convince her to go away? Or will her persistence and devotion be the thing to draw him even closer?
There is much going on in this wonderful story, but the characters are delightful and the reader will be intrigued to see if Lady Charity can win Benedict over. As irritating as he may have found her, she is probably the best thing to ever come along in his life. Grab your copy and find out how the relationship works out.
Wow, the H kept his heart closed for 3 years because he was jilted? He came across at times like a teenager who pouted because things didn't go his way. The h was delightful as is her chaperone.
The h caused me to raise my rating for her honest dialogue and backbone. The H finally sees the light and the last part was satisfying. This is part of a series, and you don't have to read them all - so a stand alone. But, as with most series, we have cross over character's so you may enjoy getting to know the Duke, his daughter's and their smart and no nonsense chaperone.
This is a clean story and I did feel a connection to them. I wish the first awful man who caused some strife in the h's life made another appearance. I wanted to know how he reacted when she did her last dance with him. He came across as not someone who would take no for an answer. He just simply disappeared quietly.
The ending wasn't something I anticipated with the H's former betrothed. Enjoyed that twist.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, slow on romance and clean. The story ended on my e-reader at 91% rest blurb for another story.
I can't improve on the blurb so recommending this story. (ljb)
I am so enjoying this Landon House series by Rose Pearson! And this installment is no exception. By now, it feels like coming home when Lady Hayward arrives to introduce one of the duke's daughters to society and help her find a match. I think Lady Hayward is a fantastic character. I love how she has taken each of these motherless young women under her wing in both a motherly and friendly fashion. As I believe I said at the end of my review of the last book, I hope the final book of the series is a romance between Lady Hayward and the duke. As to this story, the marquess was certainly a prickly character to begin with, but the way gentle Charity slowly got under his skin and into his heart was a delight to read. I love this author's writing style. It's smooth, and the author makes it so easy to just slip into the story. She uses heightened language correctly so that this doesn't feel contemporary due to the language, yet it doesn't seem awkward or stilted, as too often happens when an author attempts it. A Christmas—or even otherwise—delight!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Another gem to add to the Landon House collection! This is the fourth book of the series and is as amazing as the previous ones. It is now Lady Charity's turn to enter into society and she is doing so in the winter season, which she finds quite charming. While experiencing the Season, she meets Benedict, who is not fond of the festivities and is rather a rude person. When Charity meets him she is put off by him at first but is later intrigued. She wants to find out what the reason is for his jaded behavior. There is some drama and twists and turns that kept me turning the pages well into the night anxious to find out what happens. Charity was an absolutely charming character and despite his grumpiness, Benedict was a likable character as well. As always, Ms. Pearson did a lovely job of bringing the atmosphere and scenes to life and the dialogue was just wonderful. This is the perfect, delightful read for the holiday season and I enjoyed it very much. This is a book and series I would highly recommend!

I think I am on the phase to feel boring when I am reading a sweet and clean historical romance because while I am reading this book, I want more exciting and sexy moments. Maybe because I don't feel any chemistry between Lady Charity and Lord Hosmer at all plus the author doesn't put them together enough to convince me that they would fall in love with each other too so I feel like they are forced to being together by his friends and her chaperone. And I think the the ending of the book was so rushed because, like I said above, I think they don't have alone time moments and communication enough... everytime they met, they have their chaperone and friends around them and created their conversations! The one that I like most in this book is Lord Hosmer found the reason while his ex want to take him back by himself because you see in the previous books, all Ladies seem to involve in these problems of their Lords so I am not impressed much. But even if I like Lord Hosmer's intelligence in the end, I still struggle to believe in their love so I think 3 stars is all I give.

Another year, another Christmas that Benedict has to survive! If only the “happiest season of the year” did not bring such memories of pain and betrayal with it. Dreading the loneliness and emptiness of his estate, Benedict decides to spend this time in London, during the little Season. There, he meets Charity who is set on bringing him a little cheer as a thank you… The main characters are a perfect mirror of every day life. There are people who stay stuck in the past, wallowing in self-pity, others who decide to see the bright side in every possible situation and are happy despite life happening. This story reminds that it is our decision to choose which outlook we have on our circumstances. As an undying optimist, I am for team Charity and admire that she didn’t back down when confronted with Benedict who wanted to stay trapped in pain and sadness. Enjoy this sweet and encouraging Christmas story, arriving right on time to set the mood of the season ☺.
I received a free copy through booksprout and this is my honest review.
I feel silly, I had forgotten that the Duke of Landon had more daughters after Selina! Lady Charity is just making her debut but is making it during the less fashionable season. Of course, Lady Hayward is there to be the ever-conscientious chaperone, but this time without the presence of the Duke. Lord Hosmer is a jaded man. He is still nursing the wounds of love lost and has no intention of entangling himself with another woman of the ton. He is rather short with Selina during the times that they meet via mutual friends, Lady and Lord Ramsbury. Lady Selina finally loses her desire to coddle him and suggests that he stop hanging on to something long over. Just when things are going better for our intended pair, the past comes back to try to come between them. Unfortunately for her, Lady Norwich, and her mother, are some of the worst schemers. This was a nice story, without too much drama. More in the spirit of the season.
I’ve enjoyed other books in this series and was happy to again see Lady Hayward, one of the best chaperones I’ve encountered in this genre. This time it is Charity’s turn to have a season, although she is disappointed it is to be the “little” or Christmas season. I liked Charity in most respects but found she was a little too focused on fixing Benedict. It would have been nice to see her interacting more with others. He was far too self-absorbed and I found the endless complaining about how hurt he was got tiresome. After a few weeks, he should have realized he dodged a bullet when the insincere gold-digger set her sights on another. Once the schemer and her mother re-entered the picture things got interesting. Who would Benedict choose, the woman he’d been obsessing over for 3 years or Lady Charity?

This is a wonderful book about a man who lost💔 what he mistakenly believed was his one true love , and mires himself in the past, only to find his real 💘love won't give up on him.
Ah, there is nothing more wonderful than the redemption of the heartbroken. Charity was attending the winter Season in London with Lady Hayward as her chaperone. When she was introduced to Lord Hosmer, he made a rather poor impression, as he was abrupt, bordering on rude. She came to find out that he was suffering greatly from the mistreatment and callousness of his former betrothed....a melancholy that he did not seem to be able to discard. They kept finding themselves thrown together, and eventually they managed to be each other’s salvation. This is a wonderful story full of emotion and conflict. The confrontation that tests their faith in each other is dramatically portrayed and exquisitely uncomfortable......but, oh, the resolution is fulfilling. You will not be disappointed by this story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Regency Christmas romance with great characters, romance and intrigue. She was told by her father that she was to go to London for the short Christmas season and she was disappointed she couldn't go to the longer and busier spring season. However, she and her chaperone outfitted her and then the balls started. They had fun across a young man that was the son of her late husband's best friend. They started socializing and they met his best friend who was very unpleasant. He had been hurt by a broken betrothed three years before and Christmas always reminded him of it. She talked to him and got him better, but then his ex appeared and problems started. There were complications, but the ending was great.

Charity's father sends her to London to socialize and hopefully find a husband. One of the first men she meets is Lord Hosmon. Three years ago the woman he was to marry changed her mind and married someone else. He became despondent vowing to never let another woman into his life. Charity decides to help him see the good things in his life and rediscover the joy in Christmas. Just as they are beginning to realize that they share a love the woman who rejected him comes back to town determined to win him back using any means.
I love how Charity's caring heart never gave up on Lord Holson. He was drawn to Charity but resisted seeing the good things she was trying to show him. The characters were believable the plot was good and the story moved freely. I enjoyed this and will probably read more by Rose Pearson.
I just wasn't feeling it on this one. Would a young woman be so bold as to insist on helping a man out of his doldrums even though he has said no thank you? Would she write him a letter? Would her chaperone for the season encourage her to visit the man? I didn't really believe it from the start and her determination to help him as a thank you for his aid in getting away from an insistent and unwanted man is the basis of the story. Since I didn't buy that, I just couldn't get into the story that deeply. It was okay but just that for me. I liked that the hero's friend was willing to stick by him even when he was behaving so badly to everyone. The ex-fiancé was a piece of work... and her mother was even worse I think. It was a shame he wasted three years lamenting his loss which was no loss at all.
What a wonderful exciting book! I love the interaction between Lord Hosmer and Lady Charity. Lord Hosmer has been in an emotional dark place for three years. Lady Charity, takes it upon herself to learn what it might be that has made him this way and bring him out of it during the Christmas season. I love the characters and the plot! Very emotional for Lord Hosmer, but with strong determination on Lady Charity's part, will she be able to bring Lord Hosmer out of the dark emotions? The book has ups and downs, and a lot of romance, and some adventure. Great work and enjoyable read Rose Pearson! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Historical Regency Romance.

Will a sweet beautiful woman bring joy and happiness to a gentleman’s heart? Charity has to go to London for the winter season and be away from her father and younger sisters for Christmas. She is to make her come out. But the first person she meets is the melancholy, rude Benedict, the Marquess of Hosmer. A man who seems to find no joy in life, and wallows in self pity. But when he saves her from a lecherous gentleman she vows to show him the joy of the season. She thinks she is succeeding until his former love returns to society, now a widow. And the young widow is determined to snag Benedict again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Lady Charity is in London to experience society, but it is a little less busy than the Season in London. Lady Charity always looks for the good in everything. She meets Lord Benedict and he is the total opposite of Lady Charity. The more Lady Charity tries to get Lord Benedict to embrace the Season, but the more she pushes the more he retreats. Can she turn him around, will they find romance. This is an outstanding regency story. The imagery of Christmas and the characters makes this book a well rounded story. Once I started I could not stop reading. This is a fantastic book as were the three before this.

I found this book to be really easy to read and enjoy, and despite it being a historical romance, it doesn’t bog the story down with historical detail like other historical romances do. Charity was a sweet character and while Benedict made me want to slap him upside the head, he eventually figured everything out in the end. One issue I had with the book was the crazy former betrothed returning about 70% through the book to ruin the new romance between the two main characters, but I’m glad nothing was too hard to overcome for the happily ever after.
If you like quick holiday romances, a dash of historical detail, and happily ever afters, you’ll enjoy this book.
