Pickpocket. Outcast. Murderer.

I'm all these things and more, depending on who you ask. But when three humans come stumbling into my life, I may finally find out who and what I truly am.

The fae realm is full of violence and treachery, and now I have no choice but to trust these strangers if we want to make it out alive. It might have been easier to let them die, but I just couldn’t have their blood on my hands too. Unfortunately for Lucien, Atlas, and Dorian, the greatest threat of all may not be in the realm of Faerie.

I'm afraid the biggest monster of them all might just be me.

This is an 18+ RH novel, which means our leading lady doesn't need to choose between her love interests. It’s the first in a three book series, so it will end in a cliffhanger. As always, I include a potential trigger warning on the copyright page.

DNF at 71%. I tried, I really did, but I am thinking Kearston's writing is just not for me. Very repetitive writing - the characters spend a good chunk of the book thinking about the same things. Interchangeable thoughts aside from reflecting on personal trauma - just like the Sphinx series I previously dropped of hers. This time the FMC is broken and wants redemption - to a certain degree - but she also is selfish and does things that could do serious harm to the men she's supposed to care for. I also don't feel any real care between the characters - I'm told they care for each other, but it wasn't shown beyond wanting to care for her trauma. Collecting damaged people together isn't a solid foundation for a relationship, and there doesn't appear to be anything else tying them together (aside from the marks, of course). All in all, I didn't like it and won't continue.

this book is my first read of 2021 and if it’s any indication on how the rest of my reads will go this year... sign me the eff up. of course, i know there will definitely be some misses among the hits, but this one set me up to a fantastic start.

it took me a bit to put my feelings into words, but i finally sat down today, went through my notes & hashed it out.

as always, before we begin: I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

im also gonna shamelessly add in here that i loved this authors book Forged from the Ashes even more and that you should absolutely check it out.

ok, now onto the book.

i’m gonna start by saying this: i freaaaaaaaking love the fmc. she’s unapologetic, real, and going through some major shit- but she’s still a breath of fresh air. she has a good head on her shoulders, has common sense (& USES it!!), and she is strong enough to be vulnerable. it really takes a certain kind of FMC, and a certain kind of author, to pull of the vulnerable but still strong without it going one of two ways: 1) fmc is a brat who tries to do everything herself even when she can’t or 2) fmc comes across whiney and like she can’t do anything for herself. while the fmc is definitely still learning and isn’t anywhere close to perfect, she knows when she can’t do things on her own and has learned to pick her battles. major respect for this one.

next up, and almost even more important than the last pro: I LOVE LUCIAN. love love love him. i love the protective, smart & in charge side of him, and i loooooove the psycho will-kill-for-his-loved-ones, can-turn-his-emotions-off-in-a-blink-of-an-eye side of him even more. like hellllooooooo yummmy. the other guys are great too, but i’m always a sucker for the psychos/assholes- and he’s both 😉

there were a whole lot of other things i really enjoyed about the book, like how in this case the guys are human and she’s the supe, but i don’t want to give away too much. i will say this, though: i’ve read a lot of fae books (seriously, a lot) and this one still manages to be unique and standout to me.

overall, i definitely enjoyed this book, but i gotta be honest.. i’m pretty over the whole evil-family trope. it’s kinda overdone at this point, and i really really really did not enjoy the cliche bitchy mean girl cousin. (mostly because i wanted to punch her in the face and ahhhhh the angst!) these things are really the only thing that brought my rating down from 5 stars, but are in no means going to prevent me from reading the next book and recommending it to others.

so if you’re reading this to see if you should download, i say do it 😉

One night out and a chance meeting with a free spirited fae - Cambria (FMC) leads Lucien, Dorian and Atlas into a world they know nothing about. Where they are unexpectedly tied to Cambria. I loved Cambria's wit and personality. Shes fun, funny and the perfect opposite to the guys. She has two sides to her personality. The fun loving one in the human world and the restrained, quiet one in the fae world. She came across as really lonely there too. I felt bad for her feeling like an outcast in the company of her own people. Its a great start though and i really enjoyed reading it

This story captured my interest as it sounds like a rag to riches/fairy tale with a fae down on their luck. It was far from it and the story instead made it far more unique and intriguing. Usually it the male characters who have all the answers and know how to help the heroine navigate the situation that unfolds
Discords changes all that like the title suggestions.
The book follows Callista who isn't afraid to do anything for a dime. Her chosen path is the reason for this book as she quite literally bring trouble to her doorstep.
In the form of Atlas, Lucien and Dorian who should be out of water given the situation but have the street smarts to survive.

As this world is unforgiving and we are literally taken for a ride. Every moment rocks the boat and we quickly see consequences and answers

There is much more then this book allures to and that the beauty of this book. It's all about creating discord, rocking the boat and being in the moment. Can't wait to see what the second instalment brings

This is really a story about broken people coming together to create an unconventional family. I'm here for chosen family, and J does a great job at building the romance on top of the friendship that's already there with the guys.

We meet the guys on a night out, where they were trying to loosen up Lucian (the surly unemotional one). They are all captivated by Cambria, who's a DJ up on stage at the club they go to. After her set, they realise that she has pickpocketed them, so they aren't thrilled but again are still captivated. In the least creepy way possible, they follow her to what turns out to be a faerie circle and are unwittingly exposed to the other world.

I loved the world-building here; there are layers that will be peeled back as the series continues, and I have no idea where the final plot will take us.

The FMC!
Cambria has been told she is the worst her whole life, and when you've been told something time and time again, you start to believe it. Even though that's the case, she still has a fun and positive outlook on life. Yes, she makes questionable choices at times, but who wouldn't with a family like hers. I love how she and the guys come together and start to trust each other.

The Guys!
Atlas, Lucien and Dorian - Three equally damaged guys. They each have their demons that draw them together. Cambria is just the new added element that takes their chosen family to a new level. I love how they all throw themselves in the relationship and see how each of them can give her something the others can't.

The Smut!
Medium burn book alert. We get some sexy sexual tension that leads to the whole shebang. No group scenes yet, but we'll see how the series continues.

Discord is the first book in J. Kearston's new Bound to the Fae series and I have to admit that I enjoyed the twist that this book brings. Instead of it being a female bound to three male fae, it's the other way around. Three human men just wanting to get out for a good time, well at least two of them, find their pockets picked by a club DJ and then make the mistake of following her home and learning she's a fae. Now, they're bound to her and she's responsible for them. Sounds like fun, right? LOL! Not what it seems...obviously, especially when they still have their lives in the human world and she has to return home or risk fading away.
I chose to rate Discord 4 out of 5 stars. Now, I'm saying this first because it will help better write my review and give full clarification as to why I feel this way about this book.
The storyline overall is good, but it has quite a few hiccups throughout. Things happen so quickly...physically between the characters. I love a good unexpected kiss, but things literally come out of left field and I wanted a bit of scene set up first at times. Then I honestly had mixed feelings about Cambria. I honestly struggled to like her as a character most of the time. Now, she's been through a lot in her life, I get that! But I feel that at times, she's using it as an excuse to be the type of person that she has now CHOSEN to be. She pushes the envelope too much at times for me. She feeds off people's emotions and reactions, okay, fine. But she really puts the guys in some really stick situations and while she might feel mildly chagrined, the damage is done. I need her to think of more than just herself all the time. Because she really reads as an entitled, selfish and self-absorbed style character. It grates on my nerves.
But then the moments that she's mellow and down to earth I really like her. The guys have their good moments, too, but they aren't exempt from my frustration. They literally are lead around by what is in their pants than anything. The romance angle is building, but this is more about lust than anything else, because there is no "insta-love" or anything like that. I'm glad that there are moments of where the guys use sense, but it's not as often as ALL of them need to be doing. Also, the author has Cambria dress up in a cosplay outfit, describing it as though readers should have some clue as to who this character is. If you're going to use a cosplay scene then you better state who the character is and not just say - red dress, chains and long blonde hair, because I'm a fan of cosplay and anime and the only thing I can say is that she wasn't dressed as any Sailor Moon or InuYasha character.
I applaud the story for keeping me engaged for the most part, but I need a bit more depth to the story. Granted things closer to the end promise to get more interesting so I am eager to learn what happens next. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series as things are promising to get intense and more than a little sticky. If you like reverse harem novels, and don't mind characters who probably tolerate each other a bit more than they really should, lol, then I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy in this book.

Loved it 😊 🤩
First of all, I found this storyline quite unique. Usually it's the guy that's the the big bad Fae and the girl is an innocent human who's life gets uplifted when she finds out that the paranormal world is real. Here, our girl Cambria is a Fae and the three guys, Lucien, Atlas and Dorian stumble upon her when she literally pickpockets them.

Secondly, I think Cambria's character is so real and interesting. In case of abused characters, for me, there is a very delicate balance. If a character is soo beaten-down and traumatized i.e, constantly taking hits and jabs with her head down, it literally becomes impossible to read even when I know that the character may make an absolute 360 in later books. But Kearston has successfully achieved that balance.
Even though Cambria has a history of abuse, is quite affection-starved and has undergone a fair amount of trauma, she is only triggered by certain situations. Rest of the time she is an absolute snarky, badass who is a 'bleeding-heart' in her own words. It's entertaining to see such a complex, quirky, multi-faceted character & it only makes me keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. The characters of the three guys are also varied ranging from a cold, dominating CEO to a dorky nerd who owns a comic book shop ( and loves to role-play 😉) to a hot, construction worker. Things are definitely exciting and steamy in this world.

Lastly, the entire backstory of the fae is also very unique. I love the idea that the fae have their own banks and they use human money to buy their grocery. They even have apartments with pesky landlords always harping for rent! I can successfully say, that I have never read this one before.

Off to read Book 2. ❤️❤️❤️

This book is a unique spin on fae world, although the usual fae cruelty and perfection were definitely not left out.
Cambria works in a club, while also stealing from customers during her performances - which is exactly the action that tied her life with those of Lucien, Dorian, and Atlas. The three human men definitely did not expect a strange, attractive, and vibrant woman to lead them into the world of supernaturals, dark games, and unbreakable bonds. Yet here they are.
I enjoyed the story itself, there were funny and exhilarating moments as well as some steamy scenes, and it was all fast paced and twisting. The heroine has definitely some admirable traits, showing strength even in her vulnerable moments, and being capable of just anything (surviving her difficult situation says as much). But this trait is a double edged sword in my eyes. Yes, she can handle the fae world and survive both human and supernatural realms, but she sometimes goes to extremes, being reckless and totally not thinking things through, unable to see her actions can do a really serious harm to the people she is bound to and is supposedly caring about. It was difficult for me to decide what to do with her, as I could respect her on one side but did not like some of her actions and partially her character at all. In this case, the best character for me was Lucian, with all his control freak moments and cold man with no feelings moments and the relaxed smiling and caring man. And responsible. He was the ace in this book for me and tipped the balance to the more favorable rating. Together with the world building.

Ever feel like you are damaged goods? That you can never repent for things of your past? Something you had no control over and the ones that are supposed to help you reject you, defy you, criticize you, demean you, punish you, and break your spirit?

Well that is Cambria our FMC in J. Kearston’s new take on the fae people. Actually, that is Cambria until her shenanigans in the human world cause her more grief in the beginning. Her actions cause Lucien, Atlas, and Dorian to follow her unknowingly to the fae realm which isn’t supposed to happen. She ends up tethered to these guys but it is immensely unprepared for everything that comes after. The guys come to accept her for who she is with all her quirks, insecurities, faults, no nonsense attitude. She must come to terms with sharing her truths and her heart with the men while they deal with turmoil in the human world as well as the fae world.

As for the ending, it was so unexpected and I’m still racking my brain trying figure it out. I can’t wait to see what is coming next!!

I wasn't sure exactly what I was expecting from this book, but can I just comment on how gorgeous the cover is. I know they say don't judge a book by its cover but this one certainly draws my eye. I love the fmc, Cambria, she's in a bad situation and in her own world is treated as an outcast but in the human world, everyone loves her. She's sassy and outspoken and on the outside shows that she doesn't care what people think of her, but there is so much more to her.

I loved the three guys she meets too, they are all a little broken but together they are stronger, and even is she drives them crazy they all do come to care for Cambria. There's a lot of information to take in from this story about the various characters, as well as having some characters are not exactly how they look on the outside.

The book also ended with one hell of a cliffhanger! This seems to be a thing with a lot of books at the moment, and I admit I used to hate them. But they really do work, they leave you desperate for the next book because you want to know what is going to happen to the characters.

A fantastic, fresh and original take on a Fae story!

J. Kearston knocked this book out of the park! From the unique story that is unlike any other Fae story I have read; to the sassy, colorful, mischievous Fae; to the three gorgeous men who all add a wonderful depth and dimension to the story.

Cambria cracked me up! Her sassy self and the thrill she gets from messing with her men is hilarious. She is strong, despite her past and even her present at times, but she always finds a way to keep fighting for herself and now her men.

And then there is Lucien, Dorian and Atlas...I love them all! They all bring such unique facets to the story, all while playing off and adding to one another so seamlessly. Together with Cambria, you can’t help but fall in love with this group.

This story was original and action-packed!

I genuinely cannot wait for book 2! That ending has me biting at the bit!

This book left me speechless and I actually had to take a second to think of how I could write a review that would do it justice. I would like to start out by saying that I have read every one of Kearston’s books and I am still continuously blown away by each new story she writes. As always she builds worlds that suck you in, characters that you fall in love with and invest your soul in. This book was no different. She takes a very traditional supernatural creature, the fae, and takes it to a whole different level by putting her own spin on it. I was enthralled with Cambria and her story. Finding out throughout the book who she is and why she acts the way she does. The guys, Dorian especially, never miss a beat and take everything in stride despite having their worlds turned upside down. I am so excited to see how this series continues.

Not for me

I'm not sure how to rate this. I enjoyed the fae/human world and the guys are pretty cool. But I hated Cambria. She came off as such a spoiled brat. The guys are going above and beyond rearranging their lives for her and she's causing trouble for them intentionally. Anytime she does something though, she blames it on being a fae. Like she has no choice but to cause problems. The plotline with her mother as queen, hating her because of an accident is poorly fleshed out and kind of done. I'm not sure why but it took me nearly 2 weeks to read this when I normally finish a book this size in an afternoon. I just didn't want to pick it back up after I set it aside and when I finally did, I could only manage 1 to 2 chapters at a time. Bottom line, I wanted to like this but I just couldn't get into it.

Brings some of the human fairy tales to life

Cambria, a club DJ, gets caught pickpocketing from Atlas, Dorian, and Lucien at the club she works at. As the story progresses a secret is enforced, their past is shared, and everything may blow up in their faces just when they start to find their groove. J. Kearston’s Discord brings some of the human fairy tales to life with her own twist in this start to a new reverse harem romance series. Cambria is a free spirit on the surface, while each of the guys are damaged in their own way, but a deep blue ocean for anyone who chooses to look closer at each of them.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Did you click on this book because of its GLORIOUS cover and now you’re wondering if the story does it justice?

YES IT DOES!

Now, I’m not much of a fae story kinda girl, there’s only been a couple that have ever piqued my interest but I kid you not, I’ve already read Discord twice. I love it. I love the refreshing and out of the norm storyline - an outcast fae who suddenly had 3 humans bonded to her - I love the humour, I love the flowy words and I definitely love the FMC.

In typical J Kearston style, you can feel the FMC is kind, loving and good hearted. I don’t know how she does it but I always feel so happy when I read her stories.

Bravo J, Discord is absolutely amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.

well that escalated quickly.
So this is a cute series starter with some comedic and intense moments and twists. Our main characters are relatable and quirky in their own unique ways, and I loved how relatable that in itself is. It shows that everyone handles bad things happening to them differently. As the story progresses it delves into how much it can mean to people when others try and understand how they work, to be there for them better. We also see some pretty intense moments where our characters are terrified or uneasy, and how their relationships go from an “I don’t need anyone” mindset to thinking about the others when there’s danger. This story was great, and I’m really looking foreword to the next book in the series.

I loved this book! Cambria is such a breath of fresh air as a character - she has a tragic past but isn't broken, she is honest and has flaws but is still a down right good person. I really enjoyed watching her get to know her new 'pets'..

In which the pets are her men, and its a very unusual situation as they are human, no superpowers and not even super-rich. Usually in most romance stories, one part of the equation has all the money and all the solutions.. nope, not in this one. They are all in the mess together trying to figure things out. I loved that!

I don't want to give plot away but this is definitely a good book to read with a unique world!

I wasn’t sure where the story was going to go when it first started, but as it developed I fell in love with it. A night out with the guys turns into a path they never thought would happen but will be the best thing to happen to them. We learn some details of each characters backstory and why they are the way they are. Each one was unique in personality and you grow to love cambria and she has some amazing strength even though she herself doesn’t see it. Her sass and loving to mess with people just made me laugh out loud. I hope she learns to trust herself more as the series continues. I’m very intrigued to see how the team will handle the cliff hanger we’re left with.

What do you do when suddenly you are tied to three humans for life, well at least for their lives?? Poor Cambria, so she picks a few pockets, that’s no reason for them to follow her and her to get stuck with them for life now is it? What’s a girl to do when making questionable life changing decisions? The world building and storytelling in this book is stellar! Kearston builds a colorful and snarky character with a mysterious and unknown background. I absolutely adored all the fun times and character interactions in this book. It was all so entertaining. It’s all so beautifully done and put together. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I haven’t read a fae book like this one before.
Lucien, Atlas, and Dorian did not know what they were getting into when they came across Cambria. She doesn’t realize it herself when she binds herself to the men but as they spend more time together truths come to light.

J. Kearston has her own spin on the fae world and this one is great. She shows the other side of the face world. You know the side no one wants to talk about. I like how she introduces this world to us little by little. This was a great book that introduced the characters and the world.

I can’t wait for the next book because this cliffhanger was out of this world. I have so many questions!

And down the Rabbit hole we go again, J Kearston has a habbit of writing books that draw you in and hold your attention trough out,
This is a new spin on a Fae storey and i really liked it, Cambria is a pick Pocket and being a DJ allows her to easily find Marks. However the human guys she steals for m are not supposed to follow her home and they ae certainly not supposed to find out about the Fae realm.
Now she has 3 sexy mean bound to her and when she returns home she has to take them with her which puts them in danger
Lots of twists and turns, brilliantly written in a style that i love and totally enthralling!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This is definitely a fun take on the Fae. We meet Cambria a Fae in the human world working as a D.J. Lucien, Atlas, and Dorian go to the club to have a good time only to find their pockets picked by Cambria so they follow her. She leads them straight to the Fae world which is a big no no making her now responsible for all three of them. This makes for some interesting interactions and events that the reader will not expect. Made for a captivating read as it all played out. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

I am in love with everything about this world, the characters and the plot. It's brilliant!

Firstly Cambria (the FMC) is amazing, she takes everything in her stride and is basically the best gal ever! Despite being an outcast she really tries to brush it all off which I totally admire.

The guys are cool, but I hate the way one of them is a total douche canoe, even though I understand the situation sucks. My favourite character is one that acts so unexpected at the end and I was so shook that they became my instant favourite!

The ending was such a cliffhanger, whyyyyyy, but also I definitely am reading book2 because I need to know, so kudos author!

I seriously enjoyed this take on he Fae it was a different one and it was a fun story to read. Cambria is a super fun and awesome main character. She’s got some baggage and problems from her past which weigh her down at times. Though she does get herself into some hilarious trouble to start things off. She pick pocketed some guys at the place she works and that’s when things truly get interesting. Which ends up making the mortals follow her to get their cash back and she disappears in a ring of mushrooms. They then follow her in the Fae world which brings so many problems and ends up bonding them to her which she wasn’t prepared for at all. I loved these characters and this story so much!

Why did the fae bind herself to the 3 humans? That's probably a question that Cambria Lark can't even answer, but Atlas, Dorian and Lucien are rapidly coming to be very glad she did.

Take 1 snarky fae princess, add 3 hunky human males and a touch of kleptomania and you have a recipe for another wildly entertaining series from J. Kearston! The plot winds its way around the reader and we are entranced, mesmerized and captivated until the last page. Now, we must wait until we can pick up the Echo to see if Cambria can escape with her humans before the Queen takes all their heads...

wow! Brilliant read! J. Kearston is another new author for me and will be forced to dive into all the books available now!!
Lucien, Dorian and Atlas have stumbled onto Cambria and down into her world, but not everything is what it seems, glamour is abundant and can they trust what is right infant of them.
Cambria used to the glamour and putting on a face starts to feel her world crumble, even more than it already is, but sometimes you need all the stone to crumble to release the gem inside.
This was an amazing read and i am eagerly awaiting the next one.

Such a wonderful take on the Fae world and how they fit in with the humans. I loved the main character, Cambria, and how she fights to just survive while life is constantly ripping her apart. Her rapport with the 3 human men that stumble across her is so enjoyable to read. They may not have powers, but they have passion and are willing to fight for her. Loved this book so much and can't wait to find out what happens after that cliffhanger.

This I mean wasn't the first book I've read but it's a wonderful start for the RH books I love. I've read one book by this author prior to this one. This is about Cambria and she is a lot of things. One of them is a pickpocket and she was noticed and she leads three humans into the fae realm. This is her domain but it's dangerous and she has to trust the men, Lucian, Dorian and Atlas. I freaking love the style of writing as you get sucked into the story. I recommend this book!
