Yuri and Keiichiro’s latest intimate moment has been foiled by the appearance of Kasuga, whose role is to keep Keiichiro as honorable as possible. And your tolerance for Kasuga will likely make or break this volume.
There are few and far between chances to make this claim, but I actually like this manga the stupider it gets. Rarely does getting dumber and dumber make things better, but here it kind of saves the day.
Technically it’s being more outlandish - we’ll have Keiichiro’s family spy network employing a ninja, body doubling, and ruses to help evade assassins by the time we’re done. That last one was so funny/insane I nearly barked out loud.
Kasuga is a slightly older prettyboy, so you won’t be shocked to learn that he not only schemes to break our pair up for Keiichiro’s own good, but Yuri’s grit and earnest love converts him into one of the most pointless no-hope rivals we’ve seen in ages.
There’s a lot of iffy stuff to Kusaga’s tactics, including the usual kiss theft (or near enough), and he brings out the worst in Keiichiro as well, who doles out some serious punishment on his would-be protector a couple times.
Keiichiro’s promises to ravage Yuri and his proclamations about only barely containing himself also tread a real thin line between comedically enthusiastic and just downright creepy. There are times when a little restraint wouldn’t hurt things; it’s already plenty madcap in other regards.
The romantic stuff is actually so good, too, but its integration with the comedy isn’t quite as smooth as I’d like. So much of this is a step above regular shojo romance that I almost wish the comedy was toned down. It does it well, but doesn’t really need it.
Everything is out there, but not quite as well realized as it was in the first volume, if I’m being perfectly honest. The best “lunatic cartoon shojo” I’ve ever read was I’ll Win You Over, Sempai!, but this one is closer to the lesser A Springtime With Ninjas - okay, but not outstanding.
Sometimes this works so, so well. The substitute for a broken phone is a great gag, but it quickly transitions into one of the sweetest moments in the volume. And both sides of this are good, but infrequently existing in harmony.
This entry felt like you could split it into two separate books, a comedy and a romance, and they’d both be better than the one we got. I didn’t feel that way about volume one, so hopefully it’s just a blip.
3.5 stars - no rounding up this time, despite great jokes and some solid shojo moments. It can’t make the combination feel natural, and adding an annoying character doesn’t help things either.
I love how he's protecting her AHHHHHHH I love Kusuga too even though i have yet to figure his intentions LOL i really hope he shuts up and becomes their #1 supporter like he said
yuri hasegawa is a normal high school student, wanting to spend time with her friends and hang out her boyfriend. she also happens to have the secret service trying to break apart her relationship.
keiichiro katsuragi has a strict schedule with barely any time to see his girlfriend. he doesn’t need the added complication of his family trying to keep them apart.
💋 opposites attract 💋 young adult 💋 manga
SPOILERS
shinobu kasuga, a member of his family’s secret service department, will stop at nothing to break them up. he tries to ruin their relationship and even goes as far as to pretend to kiss her without her consent as her boyfriends car was pulling away from the curb in clear view.
she punches him in the face as she should. she goes to tell keiichiro that there wasn’t actually a kiss and that she wouldn’t never cheat on him. shibobu walks in clearly beat up causing her to rethink how hard she hit him but it wasn’t her. keiichiro knocked him around for messing with his girlfriend which is swooon. he already knew that shinobu wouldn’t kiss someone underage but he still didn’t appreciate his attempt to sabotage their relationship.
keiichiro plans a quick date for them on the weekend only for shibobu to intercept her meeting him, dressed in a disguise. he pretends to be a woman to gain her trust. keiichiro leaves his meeting early to make sure shibobu wasn’t bothering her and he forces him to act as his body double. shibobu pretend to be him so he’s able to slip out on a date undetected.
yuri takes him shopping for a regular outfit only to check in on him in the dressing room. he mistakes her for an assassin where they eventually end up on the floor but nothing happened. he held on to his restraint, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to put the break on if he went any further. keiichiro wants to deepen their emotional connection by filling out a relationship diary to get to know each other better which is adorable.
this was absolutely adorable. yuri boldly—and wholeheartedly—confesses her feelings to the quiet and reserved keiichiro, and from there, their dynamic becomes an absolute joy to watch. keiichiro is someone who tries to follow the rules, especially those set by his strict family, while yuri is the kind of girl who’s constantly (and charmingly) pushing against them.
at first, yuri thinks she’s the only one invested—she’s the one craving physical affection, initiating all the excitement in the relationship. but over time, keiichiro proves that he’s just as devoted. he may not be loud about it, but he consistently finds clever loopholes in the rules to show his love and fight for their relationship in his own way.
sweet, funny, and full of heart, hayaku shitai futari captures the push-and-pull of two very different people learning how to meet in the middle—and falling deeper in love as they do.
I think the notebook scenario was kinda cute and wholesome. It made me rethink about all the cute things I wanna try doing once I do get a boyfriend. I'm glad Shinobu doesn't overpower the whole dynamic between the couple by sabotaging them further.
Kasuga continues to try and break up Yuuri and Keiichiro. Despite realizing just how much they love each other, he tries over and over again, to the point of inserting himself into their relationship. He gives me Hayasaka from Kaguya-sama: Love is War vibes but with a completely different objective (i.e. to go against our main couple).
The changing room scene was hilarious! However, them playing dress-up in the scenes leading up to it reminded me so much about the main leads of My Dress-Up Darling (carefree Marin & nerdy Gojo).
I especially loved the notebook exchange chapter & how Keiichiro managed to arrange for their two schools go on the same trip to the mountains.
DNF 37% This is just too ridiculous. What professional pretends to kiss his master's girlfriend to create jealousy in the relationship and get them to break up? Kasgua is supposed to be from a family that has been working for Keiichiros family for a long time, but his solution to breaking up Keiichiro and Yuri is by jeopardizing their relationship. There has to be a better way to get them to break up.
This plot feels like it was written just to create more drama in Keiichiro's and Yuri's relationship, but there's already plenty of drama.

A new foe has appeared! Introducing Shinobu Kasuga, Keiichiro's guard from the spy group and he's got a plan (multiple over-the-top plans) to make Yuri and Keiichiro break up. And all I'm going to say about that is he gets what he deserves.
But Yuri and Keiichiro get to go on their first official date which has the appropriate amount of shenanigans. BUT the cutest thing is their new form of communication. Like so cute, I kinda wanna do it too now.
Keiichiro is protecting Yuri in the ways he can, he’s trying to make everything better for her, and even was able to go on a small date with her. I like Kasuga, as he looks like he’s going to be on their side now (maybe?) and he’s really funny. I love that Yuri is also trying to do what Keiichiro likes, like the diary they started sharing, they’re the cutest.
Keiichi and Yuri are polar opposites that I can’t really see together IRL, but this is a manga and their antics are funny. He gets super serious sometimes and sends her into a tizzy when he basically admits he is struggling to not lose control. I know it’s juvenile and old fashioned, but the exchange diary is so sweet!

Je m’attendais pas à temps d’humour dans ce tome mais c’est vraiment très agréable à lire ! Les protagonistes sont également très attachants, je suis de plus en plus curieux de comment ils vont évoluer au cours de l’histoire.
This volume was a solid 3.5 for me. There were a lot of shenanigans happening that made me laugh, but the notebook idea was really adorable. 100+ more days to go for them, and I'm really curious to see what will happen.
It feels okay. Right now I don’t really get why they are that into each other. She communicates more with his body double than him. I wish we got more cute moments between them to make me root for them.
I definitely preferred the first volume. The 20 year old trying to pursue a high schooler and then later pose as a high schooler gives me the ick. I don't like this bodyguard being introduced to the plot.
Come immaginavo, è diventato ripetitivo.
