I have a friend who bought this and read it to his three year old. He handed it to me when I visited him this weekend, and I read it. I enjoyed it very much.

But for the title it's actually a pretty decent story for kids. The "Hookers" are two tow trucks and "Blow" is a snow blower. All three anthropomorphized vehicles help clear a path for the train carrying presents to the Christmas party. It teaches children compassion, a work ethic, and an heroic ideal.

But then there is the title.

My friend's son is going into a pre-school program, and is very excited about it. When he was asked by his daddy what they were going to learn about in the class, the little guy responded:

"Hookers and Blow."

So there's that.

The title, of course, wasn't a mistake. Experienced adults (not those unworldly and innocent souls who regularly attend church) will notice a little bit of sexual innuendo when reading it. No child will pick up on it. But when it comes to little ones, there is no escaping that title.

So, if you don't want your pre-schooler spouting off the title of this book as proof of his precocity and erudition, maybe you should go with "The Little Blue Truck", which has a wonderful lesson on friendship and loyalty...at least between anthropomorphized talking vehicles and highly sentient, if somewhat inarticulate, barnyard animals.

Or read "The Cat In The Hat", so they can see that even a feline psychopath (pardon the redundancy) can clean up a mess for which he's responsible after his two demonic little numbered minions have trashed the place. It's a good lesson on teaching children to set boundaries in order to distance themselves from toxic people (the cat) and to act on the dictates of their conscience (in this case represented by the talking and air breathing fish--possibly a transitional species). The children in this story start off doing nothing, and end up doing nothing. Point out to your children how inaction and tremulous trepidation such as exhibited in these two will undoubtedly lead to personal ruin in their lives. They'll be predated upon, and life will crush them.

Now see? You got THREE book reviews for the price of one. And if you don't like this review, I'll take umbrage and triple my fee.

The title is hilarious and the story is actually really good! The artwork is pretty good too. There is one page where it is like you are sitting in the driver’s seat. You can see the windshield wipers mid-swipe, the dashboard with lights and through the windshield to see Blow leading and clearing the way. I’m guessing it’s from Hookers’ perspective as it’s towing Tom Transport.

It’s a really cute story, with an intentionally attention grabbing title.

5, I just love a sense of humor, stars.

This is the best children's holiday book I have ever read and has given me the gift of finally knowing what gift to get pals with kidlets. Written by one of my all-time favourite cheeky buggers, it tells the tale of Hookers the tow truck and Blow the snowblower as they venture through a snowstorm to help save Christmas. Some of my favourite lines:
The snow was quite deep and covered the road. Blow got to work blowing and could handle the load.
Hookers reached round and popped up Tom's big hood, attached booster cables and said "Crank it real good!
Also, reading the reviews for this book is just as entertaining as the book itself.

Three of my very favorite things all in one book: Hookers, blow, and Christmas.

I only hope that my spelling and grammar are acceptable for you all. As I write this, tears of joy continually stream down my cheeks... clouding my vision with pure joy, unbridled happiness, and a wondrous sense of being.

Merry Christmas, all.

I first read this to my husband before giving it to our friends with young kiddos. We had a great laugh and no reservations about sharing with kiddos. Great book for the family to all get good laughs. The title alone is what caused my husband to buy it.

Funny name that makes you think this book is full of all kinds of inappropriateness. But a cute little story for the family. Got it for my husband for Christmas.

Hookers and Blow Save Christmas left me both entertained and deeply puzzled. The story itself is charming—teamwork, perseverance, and the spirit of the holidays—but I suspect there’s a secret layer I’m too young (or too swaddled) to grasp. While I admire the cleverness, I can’t shake the feeling that this tale holds a joke just out of reach, one that has my parents chuckling while they claim it’s “just a kid’s book.” What else are they hiding from me? I’ll ponder it during my next diaper change.

But really, what is the true nature of these names? Are Hookers and Blow metaphors for something more profound—like the duality of man? Or are they just playful puns? And why do adults laugh at things they say are “not for babies”? Is there a whole world of knowledge I’m being shielded from? What else am I missing? Do owls actually have secrets, or was The Tootsie Pop Owl lying too? Also, why are carrots orange? Who decided that? And why do they call it baby food if I can’t even feed myself - wait. What was I saying?

Ah, yes. Hookers and Blow Save Christmas. Delightful, though I have questions.

This is a fun book about a tow truck (Hookers) and the Snow Blowing Truck (Blow) who must find the semi truck (Tom Transport) that is stuck in a snow drift. The semi is full of Christmas presents for all the kids in town so they must save the day! Can Hookers and Blow Save Christmas? I definitely recommend this cute picture book around the Christmas holiday. Great for kids of all ages.

This book can be just as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids. They probably wont understand why you're laughing so hard while reading it to them, and when you get a little tipsy or have a party you can whip it out and show it around. Your friends will love it!

😂🤣 had to read from the title alone. The illustrations give off South Park vibes and there is definitely a sexual undertone to the story. But it really is a heartwarming tale of friendship and teamwork.

Every time I read this I have a hard time finishing… without laughing. I really bought the book for my husband to read to our 2 y/o, now almost all of our friends have read it too. I love sharing “Hookers & Blow”

It's OK the title is great and this will make a good gag present but the rhyming was lacking and not that clever.

I am very disappointed that it was an actual children's book and was not full of innuendo and whatnot.
It had so much potential for greatness.
3 stars for the title alone.

Gave this at a White Elephant and an elementary teacher unwrapped it. She proceeded to read it to us as she would her class of kids. It was perfection.
