Immortal Hunters MC #1

Van Helsing Rising

Rate this book
I am an experiment, data to be collected, nothing but a number.

At least that was how my life had been until I was rescued by the most unlikely group of men.

Rescued might be too strong a word though.

The men of the Immortal Hunters Motorcycle Club aren’t exactly friendly. And when I find myself locked in a cage, yet again, I begin to question their intentions. They aren’t a regular MC though. Yes, they are heartless, merciless, violent, chaotic... but it’s all in the name of saving humans from supernaturals.

These men are tortured, each one stuck living with the demons of their pasts, and some of the sexiest men I’ve ever seen. Even if they are a little psychotic.

I can’t get attached though. Not when my life is on the line. And definitely not when I find out that I might be more dangerous than all of them combined.

This one was really different and in a very good way.

The story started dark and interesting enough but very soon it seemed to devolve into inner sex monologues and slow pacing. Dani was a captive of the typical secret mad scientist where she was experimented on. Dani’s life was pretty much a giant suck fest and some of her choices seemed to be more reaction than anything that was thought out.

The Immortal Hunters MC rescues her and they all have certain gifts that they acquired after drinking demon blood. Since her status is unknown she is at first treated like a prisoner. After a while Dani is moved upstairs into the house and is guarded by 4 of the main members, Phoenix and Dragon the twins, Striker & Crash.

This is when the book seems to venture into reverse harem territory. We are repeatedly told how “hot” Dani is. All of her physical attributes to include how perfect her lady parts are, that it just became an eye roll after a while. The guys are all lusting after her and she’s having just as many lusty thoughts about them and is doing everything in her power to have them satisfy the itch. In the middle of that we get to read about the guys getting serviced by the sweet butts in the MC club…could have really done without that ick factor.

Most of the story seems to be spent on the building sexual tension between Dani and the guys, with some typical MC speak thrown in, a prez that is being a bit shady, mysterious creatures attacking them, weapons that are special suddenly appearing, bad guys with the typical maniacal over zeal and just loads and loads of stuff thrown in some of it contradictory and inconsistent and when you think there is a wrap up you get a cliff hanger.

I’m sort of ambivalent as to whether or not I want to find out what happens. My connection to the characters was more on the periphery as there wasn’t much about the other monsters that they hunted and more time was spent on building the harem than anything else.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

...

This is book 1 of the Immortal Hunters MC series and is quite an adventure. The FMC, Dani, and several others are found in a lab when the MC comes. They meet Dani and she's been a victim most of her life.

The guys are set up to guard her and they do. They start getting attached and that's when things get even more interesting.

Can't wait to see where the next book takes us. Love it.

Here's a little character info:

° Dani - heals quickly, test subject experiment

▪︎Striker - gloves, can use his talent for torture but hates it
▪︎Dragon - emotional manipulation
▪︎Crash - instincts, intuition, individual psychic abilities
▪︎Phoenix - "sees" into someone

I don’t understand why abuse has become so common in romance books. There is nothing sexy about sexual abuse. There’s nothing sexy about emotional abuse. And there’s certainly nothing romantic about anything that happens in this book.

Abusive men shouldn’t be glorified—they should be put-down, not celebrated.

I hate that books like this are even labeled “romance.”

This story contains non-con/dub-con. The prospective harem has sex with many other women, even while imagining it’s the FMC. The FMC is kept captive and threatened with murder if she doesn’t submit to their every whim.

I hate everything about this book.

Kindle requires a rating, otherwise I would leave blank.

I’m utterly tired and bored with the whole ‘betrayed body’ trope, as well as the female who falls for the guys who treat her like shite, and finally, ’doesn’t matter if he uses and throws away other women, so long as he doesn’t do it to me’ bullshit!

MC romance’s seem to thrive on all of these, as well as RH. I think I’ve binged myself free for some time to come.

Only major squicky trope missing here, is the ‘saints and whores’ trope, or ‘man-whore and virgin’. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

2.5 rounded up

I generally love these authors, as they are both incredibly talented and deliver exceptional stories. This one, however, fell flat to me. It is a MC tale worth a paranormal bend, yet it doesn’t flow like I except from these two, nor does it offer a strong FMC. Perhaps it’s simply because it’s the first book, but it lost me - even though I stick it out to the end (last 2 chapters are almost redeeming for interest) but.... I’m not sure. The club treats women as lesser, and the group that will obviously become the harem are no different.

Didn't care for it

Dnf about 49%. I think all around I didn't like how this book read. It's a short book that both authors decided to cram too much or too little details into a very short read. The way the bikers talked and acted didn't flow right, it was almost like they couldn't sell it? it was like watching bad acting honestly.

Van Helsing Rising the fast-paced, steamy, and hard to put down paranormal romance collaboration between Helen Scott and Lacey Carter Andersen. This reverse harem novel is so well done and I could not put it down at all! If you like snarky females, kick butt guys, and bad guys who just don’t give up, then this is a good book for you to pick up!
Van Helsing Rising piqued my interest with the title in more ways than one. Van Helsing because of the vampire killer (I really don’t like him lol) and then I wanted to see how the authors would work in the motorcycle club angle. Let me just say this…I was NOT disappointed. This book is so well done despite the few spots that rubbed me the wrong way. LOL! Is it wrong that I get annoyed that the MC has all but culled all the vampires? Just rankled my proverbial fur so to speak. LOL!
I love how this book starts out though. It really sets the stage with an air of mercenaries and mystery. I appreciate how the authors give us each of the guys and the main female character, Dani with each chapter. Piece by piece the story comes together with the beginning setting a decent foundation moving forward. They find and rescue Dani, but have no idea what she or the other “survivors” have been through at the facility that they just took down. My eyes absolutely went huge during a couple of scenes with the “survivors.”
The overall storyline is engaging from beginning to end. I will admit that I didn’t like Dani’s attitude in some scenes, because I felt that she was being tight-lipped for dumb reasons. Trust me when I say…I wasn’t disappointed when her reasons come out…they were dumb. LOL! I was expecting something a bit more…major, but it’s just bad choices after another. Of course, her wanting to get mouthy with the Prez, who literally comes off as a “no nonsense” kinda guy…you gotta question if she has a death wish. She always says she doesn’t care about living, but when an opportunity to run presents itself…she sure does try to make an escape. She’s a troublemaker, but I still like her. LOL!
The steamy scenes in this book are…yum! I think that the guys are a bit soft on her though. I like it when they take her hand in order to send a message not just to her, but to others around. I just felt that they needed to do it a bit more because they should know that they are being watched. I have to admit as well, that in the beginning the guys go from “secrets will get us killed” to “let’s keep this and that and that a secret.” What happened guys? Well…we all know what happened. A “sweet butt” got under their skin. (wink)
This book has some really good twists and moments throughout. The way these two authors literally have me on the edge of my seat with questions!!! I’m just like…what happens next?! What happens next?! What happens next?! Yes, I’m saying that three times, because there are three different situations I want to know…what happens next?! Don’t leave me here wondering!!! Tell me! LOL! Trust me…you’ll feel the same way when you read this book.
I am deciding to rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I’m taking off half a star for Dani’s over done attitude. I don’t mind snarky characters, but when you’re running your mouth JUST to be running you mouth, to have an attitude for no reason and/or cause trouble…I’m going to have a bit of an issue with you.

Van Helsing Rising by Helen Scott and Lacey Carter Andersen was so much more than I thought it would be. I mean, a paranormal romance mixed with some hot AF bikers?

This story was so damn interesting. I literally devoured it in one sitting. Dani, who had lived a horrible, abuse-riddened life, was being held in a facility where she was a test subject. When Crash, Striker, Dragon, and Phoenix showed up hunting down another supe (supernatural) they were all begrudgingly drawn to her. Taking her back to their compound, we watch as they try to navigate around the scared, hesitant woman.

This book focused on uncovering Dani's powers, demonstrating the guys' powers, providing an outline of the world, organizations, and roles of everyone, and laid the foundation for an AMAZING series. Their powers were unique. I LOVED how easily the authors demonstrated their abilities with humor and sexy times. I mean, come on! Those are some powers I wish I had lol

Seriously, that cliffhanger KILLED me. This was easily one of the most engaging PNR I've read in a while. It was thrilling and quick-paced while giving me just enough plot and steam to keep my eyes glued to the pages. Needless to say, I can't wait to continue this series.

Betrayals abound. Twists at every turn. Action. Sexy times. Humor. Great character development. An all around fantastic tale of a new supernatural world.

If you enjoy retellings and more unusual tales then this the book for you. The Van Helsing is one that I'm not familiar with completely but that aside this book had a lot going on that was entertaining. Immortal Hunters introduces us to their MC and their dealings that are hidden from the world. These guys may look like the typical 1 percenters but there is heaps more to these guy then appearances show.

The story is addicting from the first few pages the guys commanded the scene and Dani the heroine and the glue to this story could easily have been lost in the shadows. However the authors made it revolved around her. She had the key to everything, the guys were made to use their underhanded tactics to get answers but it only added to the allure of these guys.

It felt that we were barely scratching the surfaces at times as the questions came flying fast and we were deep in the action. These two authors did make me want to savour this book and take the time to learn everything that they revealed. As this MC had a lot of power that was hiding and the guys each had distinct skills and qualities that made you want to know these guys.

There is potential for a lot to happen and the entwining threads that surround the main plot is intriguing and can't wait to read more.

I kind of don’t even know what to say about this book. About the only thing that’s really coming to mind right now is: watch out for the sudden steep cliff at the end. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what I had gotten myself into. As I started reading this book, I realized it’s addictive in the way the background information is slowly released to the reader. Just enough to keep you wanting more. The relationships are also a slower build. You can immediately see how tight the guys are with one another. They’re very obviously a brotherhood of warriors. Dani is a wildcard and I’m still not completely certain how her introduction to the Sons of Helsing is going to play out. The one thing I do know for certain is that I’m dying to find out what happens next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Black Cat.

Wow

I am at a loss for words. We start with a small group of men that belong to the inner circle of the Immortal Hunters MC as they take out a lab facility they find. Each has a special power that assists them and once I side they find people that have been experimented on. They round them up as a group but one woman strikes them all as special. Then she wakes up. Dani is special though she has no clue how then things take all sorts of weird twists. This all comes together into a gripping read that you won't be able to stop reading. The cliff hanger ending leaves you wanting book two now. Fantastic world building by two incredible authors. A must read for fans of paranormal RH. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Chase, Dragon, Stryker and Phoenix belong to the Immortal Hunters MC. They fight the supernatural demons who attack humans. In one of their mission, they clean up a lab where they pick up some people who were experimented on. Among them, Dani is the only woman. When she wakes up, she finds herself in the MC's jail. Now it is a new journey to find out what she has become and who is the leak in the MC who is trying to get her back to the society that experimented on her.
Dani has been abused her whole life, but now with the MC she is learning how to fight and we see her growing. It's fast paced story.

I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

So this one is definitely interesting. Dani is an experiment until she's rescued by the Immortal Hunters MC, well I say rescued, she's actually thrown into yet another cage along with the other experiments. There are a lot of intriguing twists and turns in this story, including what exactly Dani is.

It's a real page turned and I didn't put it down until I'd devoured every, single page. Dani is thrust into situations she really doesn't want to be in with four really intense guys. But luckily for our girl, she doesn't have to choose between them.

The story is fast-paced and honestly, I didn't see some of the stuff coming which is nice. And dang that cliffhanger just left me wanting more, so I will definitely be the first one in line for book two in this series.

What a twist to the Van Helsing myth that Helen Scott and Lacey Carter Anderson have done.

This story was so dang interesting I could not stop reading until the end. I felt for Dani, with having lived a hard life. Who wants to be a test subject? Loved that when Crash, Striker. Dragon and Phoenix showed up and saved the day or really Dani.

I enjoyed reading about them evolving into more. Dani discovering her powers. We also have plenty of sexy time as well as humor.

But be warned there is a hell of a cliffhanger that has me positively needing book two now. This series is going to become one of my favorite by either I do believe.

And ... I was disappointed again. This book was going well... Until the interaction with some of the men came along. That main character was so fucking vapid. Manageable mentality and no personality. You'd think that after being passed from one hands to another and being objectified for so long, she was going to be more cautious, wary and more closed off to other men who also kidnap her, but there's none of that at all. Horny most of the time and let herself be manipulated. There were scenes that bordered on non-consent and she seemed to think she was fine, it was pretty weird and not at all believable. I usually like my men a little possessive, but in this book he was mostly repulsive. She was also treated like an object and some scenes and thoughts bordered on disgusting. The writing was okay, but the characters ruined it for me. I've read a few MC books and I know that attitudes of underestimating women is normal in that world, but they are usually compensated for with character development and some changes in mindset, but here they kept thinking of Dani as a sweet ass and less like an figure old lady. This book was not good for me.

4.5 STARS REVIEW

Paranormal Romance, Reverse Harem , Bikers, MC Romance, Suspense

First Person, multiple-POV

This is book #1 of the Immortal Hunters MC series and it cannot be read as a standalone. The book ends in a huge cliffhanger.

Fast-paced, action-filled, with amazing world building, and easy to love characters!!! Superb beginning of a new series!!!

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one. In fact, I almost cried when I saw that is only coming in March. :) That ending was O.M.G!!!

I do have to say that the romance it was sort of a slow burn. In this book they were still meeting and learning about each other. There were a lot of chemistry flowing, so good smut, but not really any concrete feelings involved. Can't wait to see the progression of their relationship.

DEVELOPING LOVE!!!

32/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Addictiveness: 5 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 4 Plot: 4.5 Romance: 4 Writing Style: 4.5

Action 5/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 3/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 4/5 Suspense/Mystery 5/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of reverse harem romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 I loved the book from the beginning. The intensity was high from the start and it kept me always wanting more. In fact, I've ended wanting more. Can't wait for the second book! As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very complex characters with great background stories. I haven't really been given a lot of background on some of the main characters, but there is a lot of room to personal growth in the series.

Dani was a great heroine. She started out as timid, a bit meek, and quiet. But she ended the story as a very strong and capable heroine. Her personal journey was really good and she flourished as she felt comfortable within her powers.

Striker was a good hero, but still a lot mysterious. We haven't really seen much of his past, but he has an important role and I can definitely see him becoming very important on the next book.

Dragon was wonderful. Of the guys I think he was one that we learned more about. He also showed some emotion and a bigger connection with Dani than most. I can't wait to see him on the second book!!!

Phoenix was the sensitive one and another one that had a personal connection with Dani, even though not much of a physical yet. He was adorable and gave some good glimpses of his and Dragon's past.

Crash was the most mysterious of the four. I don't really know him yet, but what I have seen, I have really liked. Can't wait to see him grow and take a more active role at the MC.

Secondary characters felt relevant to the story. Even though none of them, except the villain had a big part, it all made sense.

Villain/antagonists a bigger evil and an obscure villain.

They were all easy to love, connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was perfection!!! Just looking at it we can see how the heroine is going to be a super woman. Even though I'm a huge fan of subtitles that offer hints of the story, I can guess a lot from this cover. It was spot on!!! I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 4/5 This was good. A few twists and turns that kept the story fresh and gave it an original vibe. As fresh as mint mentos at the movies!!!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 4/5  Amazing opening with an incredible ending. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. High level of enjoyment!

I have to say I ended with lots of questions, but I can see how this was just the. beginning of a promising series.

I loved the intensity and pace of the story. The conflict was great and the end was a killer.

Writing Style: 4.5/5 My first time reading both authors and I must say I'm really looking forward to read more from them. Fantastic characters with wonderful world building, great smut and a promising romance. Great writing!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don't really believe in perfection...

Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 3/5, steam 4/5  There was not a romance here yet. There was a promise in the air of a future great one. There was a lot of chemistry and a few good smut scenes. Can't wait to see how this relationship will flourish!!! Evolving romance!!!

You MAY read this because you follow the authors; you SHOULD read this because you like reverse harem romance; you MUST read this because the world building is amazing!!!

So, where to start with this read lol. I'm not sure even while writing this review how I feel about it.

~Plot~
Dani has had a dark and troubled past and we find her being rescued by Dragon, Striker, Crash, and Phoenix when a mission to infiltrate a research facility becomes much more. Not sure what to make of the captive woman, they take her and the other experiments back to the compound to observe and gain information. When it becomes clear that something is strangely off about some of the subjects, it becomes more dire to understand just what Dani knows.
Unfortunately for them, Dani doesn't want to talk about it nor any of the dark secrets from her past. When trouble comes looking for her, the four men end up protecting her despite their rough personalities. As they grow closer, the danger seems to be looming from even closer within and not just from outside the compounds.

~Thoughts~
I'm pretty conflicted about this read. Sure, Van Helsing Rising was a dark but interesting read about a motorcycle club and our heroine with lots of steam factor for this urban fantasy RH. However, some of the themes regarding the motorcycle club didn't... sit well with me. I'm not sure if that's the MC genre/culture but the blatant disrespect for women and treating them like objects?? Mmm... not about that too much. Granted, we get to see the guys treat her somewhat better because she is "special" and "is different from the sweet butts." *rolls eyes but continues reading* Some of the scenes were dancing that fine line between coercion/non consent/overly dominant and sexy kink (for lack of a better word).

The relationships between Dani and the guys are definitely more physical than anything. There is a draw they feel for each other, but that's about it. It gets slightly more attachment based and less physical as the book goes on, but it's pretty much not been addressed by any of the characters yet. It'll be interesting to see how the MC dynamic works with Dani, especially in the whole sexist environment. I do want to know more about the guys because we didn't get much about their backstories in this book.

I know I'm gonna keep reading the series just to know what's happening between the lab and the MC. Even with the demons and angels stuff. Not sure how it's all gonna fit, but intrigued nonetheless.

I think that Van Helsing Rising is my very first read by either of these two authors, and I freakin' LOVED IT. Honestly, I just don't think you can go wrong when it comes to a RH Paranormal romance, and the blurb for this one caught my attention right away. &Then when I finally received the ARC, I was addicted immediately.

Authors Helen Scott and Lacey Carter Andersen wove an intriguing web with Dani and her 4 boys.
As a test subject, Dani was dealt a horrible hand in life leading up to the moment that Crash, Phoenix, Striker & Dragon stumble upon her, and wanting to further explore the connection they feel to Dani, they basically do a jailbreak, and take her back with them.

Due to Dani's life, she is very unsure about this new situation, while also trying to discover her true power.

Without giving much more of anything away, I just want to say that this book is badass in so many ways. It brings it ALL to the table, humor, action, interesting characters that you cannot help but want to get to know and better understand. Some seriously steamy moments, and humor as well.
These authors packed this first of the series full of everything that you could ask for in the first part of a series. &They also hammered me with a pretty serious cliffhanger, and I am seriously considering how in the world I am going to be able to be a "patient" reader, until I get the next book! But, I will do my best to try, LOL.

Honestly, if you love paranormal, love RH, and are a fan of reading series, this book is 100000% for you. You will not regret the time you take to read this story, and you will not regret having to deal with a cliffhanger either, because it was worth that and more. I haven't been this entertained by a series starter in a long time, and I am seriously picky, so that certainly says alot. I have grown to figure out what I will like, and what I won't. &I actually took a chance on this one, because I was over reading series at this point, and had been loving on standalones. BUT, I am SO glad I picked this one up, and you should take that same chance I did. I highly, highly doubt that you will regret it!

A fast-paced, slow-burn steamy paranormal RH set into a MC world that combines the literal monsters with the darkness in the human nature.
Dani did not have an easy life, and thanks to some poor choices on her side, she ended up being just treated as her ex's property to be played with or broken, and then as an experiment with just a number and no name. Being rescued from the lab facility, she ends up imprisoned by the Immortal Hunters, a MC gang hunting monsters and possessing supernatural abilities thanks to demon blood. But even here, Dani stands out, and if she's capable of adjustment, she might even find a place resembling home.. if she survives.
The story progressed really fast, sometimes even too fast to give me all details and background info I'd like to have. I was intrigued by the men from the beginning, and it was a nice ride, getting to know them better. When it comes to Dani I am a bit conflicted, as it looks to me she is at least partially responsible for what she went through, and also when it comes to the descriptions of her physical perfection I find it hard to believe after the remarks such as "she has not eaten a proper meal for a very long time", "is more used to starvation than not", and "after seeing herself after long time, is thin" (not exact quotes) - well that woman has to be skin and bones then, and after coming out of the prison (long term), it's far from anything I'd picture as beauty idol, yet it's served to us all the time. I'd probably find the sweet butts in much better shapes... but when it comes to Dani's character development, it's quite okay, there are some scenes where I lose connection with her but also scenes where I feel very strongly connected, so in the end it balances out. The story is sometimes in the background, focusing more on the RH feelings development factor than actual plot progress, but it ends up with a quite nice turn (though, if you are skilled enough to catch all small hints you might expect it like I did). Nevertheless, as a relaxing read it was a very enjoyable story, I switched off my brain and simply went along, enjoying the storytelling.

It's funny that this book and the one I read by Eva Chase this week are so different, yet remind me of each other so similarly.
I think it's because both of the females were captives and are kidnapped once again.
While the second set of kidnappers may not be as bad as the first, the female is cautious of their reasoning.

I'm a huge fan of motorcycle club books and paranormal.
So combining the two is just that much greater for me.
And this book did not disappoint.

Dani is an experiment.
A human who was taken in by a facility and injected with something.
She isn't the only one.
There are several other humans in the facility.
When the Immortals MC is lead to the facility and they find the captives, they take them away and hold them hostage in their own compound.
It's there that things unravel and more is uncovered on what exactly was going on in that experiment.

Dani is someone who has been put down her entire life.
She just wanted to find something for herself, make something of herself, when she made a mistake to be experimented on.
However, she hasn't let her past get her down. She is still strong. Still mouthy.
We then have Striker, Dragon, Phoenix, and Crash.
These men, if you want to call them that, are members of the MC.
An MC that isn't made up of humans, but demons.
They aren't wrecking havoc on humans. In fact, they are trying to save humanity from other creatures.
Each of these men are given special powers unique to them.
And there personalities seem to be shaped by those powers as well.

This is told from multiple points of view.
You get to see from Dani, as well as the guys.
I always love seeing from the guys points of view. Feel like I understand things a little better. Them better.

This does end on a cliffhanger.
A pretty big one.
I'm dying to know what will happen next.
With Dani and the guys because there is two different kind of endings.
Dani is taken somewhere and the guys are left behind. Things happen between both of them that leaves you reeling.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot and can't wait to see what happens next.
Would definitely recommend this book.

Van Helsing Rising is a fast-paced, paranormal, reverse harem read by Helen Scott and Lacey Carter Andersen. The story centres around Dani, a woman of mystery who is being held in a facility where she is a test subject. She is ‘rescued’ by the Immortal Hunters MC: Dragon, Crash, Striker and Phoenix whose job it is to hunt down dangerous supernatural’s. Not knowing where Dani fits into the mix, her and some of the others from the facility are taken back to the MC as prisoners until they know what they are. Dani certainly goes from the frying pan into the fire.

The book looks at the powers that the guys already have whilst trying to figure out where Dani fits and whether she is friend or foe. At the beginning of the book she is definitely a meek character, but as she grows and goes through some trials and tribulations, we see her confidence grow as a character as well as her unexplainable powers. There are also numerous sexy scenes between Dani and some of the guys as they all try to figure out Dani’s past and present and what powers she holds.

There are lots of twist and turns in this book and be warned, it does end with an epic cliff-hanger! This book sets up the series, but it does leave us with a lot of questions (as a good series should). I’m interested to see what is going to happen to Dani and her men, especially as more truths about her life comes to the forefront as the story moves along. The world-building in this book was wonderful and it was interesting to see a take on the different type of monsters and how they come to be in this story. A good read with more to come!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
