Anyone who has watched videos of Dr Morse lecturing may have retained the impression of a scatterbrained, ranting radicalist with the appearance of a kindly grandfather. I have to say that that was my impression upon watching some of his YouTube contributions.
However, that impression does this book an injustice. It is clearly written, excellently structured and maintains a supportive and encouraging tone throughout. Some of the radicalism is still there, but he clearly explains and justifies the reasoning behind the need for a profoundly different approach when it comes to rejecting the symptom-focused approach of allopathic medicine and opting to allow our bodies to heal themselves as they are perfectly able to do when given the right conditions.
Best of all, the book takes a holistic view of health. Aside from the focus on food and advice about detoxification, it also contains useful information about many complimentary practices from using herbs to assist and support the body in cleansing and healing, to things like dry skin brushing, reflexology and spiritual practices. There is a spiritual undertone throughout the book that nevertheless remains entirely supportive, never becoming overbearing or acting as a prop to cover a lack of scientific reasoning.
Reading this book gave me the courage to believe in the possibility of curing my Hashimoto's naturally and the tools to start me down the path towards doing so.
