This illustrated biography for young readers introduces Amelia Earhart, highlighting her love of adventure and the way that she broke barriers for other women. The illustrations throughout are appealing, and the book shares great information about Earhart's childhood, young adulthood, and career. The information about her disappearance is presented well, and shouldn't be too much for sensitive readers to handle.

Like the other books in this series, this installment includes a timeline and a glossary, discussion prompts, a quiz, and other fun features. Near the end, the book provides a summary of key ways that Earhart changed the world, and it prompts kids to consider ways that she can inspire them. This book will engage young readers, and it covers details of her life in a historically accurate way without introducing mature topics.

When the author covers Earhart's marriage of convenience to a man who supported her career, she mentions Earhart's stipulation that if they weren't happy together after a year, then they should divorce. However, the book does NOT speculate on Earhart's sexuality or mention her agreement with her husband that they could pursue other sexual partners while married. I appreciate how the author introduced a biographically important topic at a kid-friendly level.

I received a free copy from the publisher through Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review.

"The Story of Amelia Earhart: A Biography Book for New Readers" by Stacia Deutsch is a captivating introduction to the life and achievements of the iconic aviator, Amelia Earhart. Through engaging storytelling and accessible language, Deutsch presents Earhart's journey from a young girl fascinated by airplanes to becoming the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

The primary genre of this book is a biography, aimed at new readers who are exploring nonfiction literature. The book covers essential aspects of Earhart's life, including her childhood dreams, her passion for aviation, her groundbreaking accomplishments, and the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

One of the primary themes of the book is perseverance and determination. Earhart's story inspires readers to pursue their dreams relentlessly, regardless of challenges or obstacles they may face. This theme is particularly relevant for children, as it encourages them to believe in themselves and strive for excellence in their endeavors.

Another key message in the book is about breaking barriers. Earhart's achievements in aviation shattered gender stereotypes and opened doors for women in male-dominated fields. This message of empowerment and equality resonates strongly, especially in today's world, where discussions about gender equality and representation are significant.

Reflecting on what children can learn from this book, it provides valuable lessons about historical figures, aviation history, and the importance of perseverance and courage. Teachers or parents can use this book instructionally by discussing Earhart's life and accomplishments, exploring the history of aviation, and encouraging children to pursue their passions fearlessly.

As for why this book was a WOW book for me, it stands out for its ability to make complex historical information accessible and engaging for young readers. Deutsch's writing style is clear, concise, and captivating, making it easy for readers to connect with Earhart's story on an emotional level. The inclusion of illustrations and interactive elements further enhances the reading experience, making it a memorable and impactful book.

In terms of literary craft, Deutsch effectively uses narrative techniques to bring Earhart's story to life. The use of vivid descriptions, dialogues, and chronological storytelling adds depth and nuance to the narrative, capturing the reader's attention from start to finish. Additionally, the book is free of bias, presenting Earhart's life and achievements objectively and respectfully.

Considering the social, political, historical, and cultural contexts in which this literary text is produced, it reflects the ongoing importance of celebrating diverse voices and historical figures. Earhart's story transcends time and continues to inspire people of all ages, making this book a valuable addition to children's literature.

Overall, "The Story of Amelia Earhart: A Biography Book for New Readers" is a remarkable work that educates, empowers, and entertains young readers, making it a standout choice for anyone interested in exploring the life of a trailblazing woman in history.

Summary:
In this Biography about Amelia Earhart, we learn all about her adventures. From her first flight to her last, Amelia was a powerful woman in history who broke many records before her death. An important piece of history, and more than that, and inspiration, Amelia comes to life in this Biography for children.

Review:
I enjoyed the book's illustrations and fun cover because it pulls you in in a way that many nonfiction books fail to do. It's packed with information, but would not be at all overwhelming for older kids, and would be perfect for early elementary age, as long as they don't read it all in one sitting.

Uses for This Book:
This book would be a fun part of a lesson plan about Amelia Earhart. It has brief quizzes to recap, and fun illustrations. It would be the perfect balance of enjoyable and educational.

Engaging, interesting presentation of a great figure’s life...

My Dad and I used to watch specials about Amelia Earhart together, always intrigued by the latest theories on her final fateful flight. The best of those shows would hit the highlights of her life, and give context... that is what this book does. It starts from the beginning, introducing Amelia as a person, helping the reader to understand what drew her to flight, and how she came to travel such an interesting and unique path in life.

It wasn’t her first glimpse of an airplane that hooked her... it was soaring through the air.

It wasn’t being given recognition and an award for being in an airplane when it set a record, it was doing the work, and earning the reward by being the one who had set the record, pushed the boundary, and shown others it was possible.

A great little book about a true role model.

The Story of Amelia Earhart by Stacia Deutsch introduces elementary school age children to the innovative, strong, mysterious woman known as Amelia Earhart. The narrative stays true to the events of Amelia Earhart’s life (as far as I can tell). It presents her as a leader and successful woman despite the difficulties of her life. The colorful illustrations complement the narrative and there is a question-and-answer section in the back.

I ordered this book to use as a supplement to our homeschooling curriculum and I am pleased with the product.

after reading this book, I would say my overall review of it is that it is a great story for young children to read that like to read about people that changed the world back then. The author Stacia Deutsch has many other bibliography books she has wrote that are the same idea of famous people that have changed something in the world. And I think those types of books really can teach young readers about history.

Interesting book. Another great read about Amelia Earhart for younger readers interested in chapter books. I really like how throughout the story, in the margins, there were questions about “what would you do” or “how would you” for the reader to think about. It’s a great way for them to connect themselves to the story. There’s also a quiz at the end! Cool book!

It was boring because it was about planes. The person in it thought that she could fly around the world along the equator.
