With the rising tide of steam power and machinery, who can come close to being a Beyonder? Shrouded in the fog of history and darkness, who or what is the lurking evil that murmurs into our ears?
Waking up to be faced with a string of mysteries, Zhou Mingrui finds himself reincarnated as Klein Moretti in an alternate Victorian era world where he sees a world filled with machinery, cannons, dreadnoughts, airships, difference machines, as well as Potions, Divination, Hexes, Tarot Cards, Sealed Artifacts…
The Light continues to shine but mystery has never gone far. Follow Klein as he finds himself entangled with the Churches of the world—both orthodox and unorthodox—while he slowly develops newfound powers thanks to the Beyonder potions.
Like the corresponding tarot card, The Fool, which is numbered 0—a number of unlimited potential—this is the legend of “The Fool”.
Another amazing volume! I’m so happy for the people of City of Silver and Moon City—our Little Sun finally got his time to shine! I also loved how they’re now trying to proselytize others. “Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Mr. Fool?” I was dying of laughter when that chapter ended!
On top of that, we get to see Klein’s new persona, Merlin Hermes. I love how his growth is finally paying off, and it’s thrilling to see all the pieces starting to move into place. The volume also does a fantastic job of tying together earlier plot threads. I’m so excited to see how everything comes together in the final volume!
might be my least favorite volume of this series so far, but it was still great. maybe because it's much shorter than the other volumes so i feel like it was kind of rushed and was not detailed enough. even klein's newest identity as merlin hermes wasn't established enough for the readers. but the feeling that this book 1 of the series is about to end is very palpable while reading this volume 7. one more volume left!!!
my favorite scene in this volume though might be klein and roselle's first meeting. i actually got emotional, which i absolutely didn't expect. i'm looking forward to roselle getting out of his slumber with the help of klein, but maybe not so soon.
still, i'm excited to see how this series will conclude. klein is now finally a sequence 1 angel but because of his sefirah castle, his power can now compete with kings of angels like amon and adam. so i think he has a chance, even if it's slim, to win against them? let's see let's see!
I'm so close to finishing this I don't wanna part with this please I can read 8 more volumes My personal favorite from this volume is Chapter 1335 titled "I" and I'm sure many could agree It was so unique and fascinating
"However, at the very least, I have a daughter, a wife, and two sons. There are still many things in this world that I’m worried about, and some sense of belonging to a certain extent. As for you... I can feel your loneliness, the loneliness that comes from deep within your bones."
I really enjoyed most of this volume. A lot of things got revealed and a lot of things happened. The ending, however, felt a bit rushed in some parts, or just kind of incomplete, like I get it's the cliffhanger for the next and final one, but idk... not my favorite one..
Intense. I can feel my brain overheating going through the contents of this volume. There's so much information, and theories and questions getting painted more clearly relatively from the previous volumes. It's information overload to me and I can feel them brimming on my throat.
Merlin felt like a fever dream, silly little character. The first parts were so chill then it went melancholic but warm because of the /miracles/ Klein's was projecting especially to the people of City of Silver and Moon City. We finally meet fellow Earthling Emperor Roselle. Of course, goofy parts will never be absent such as the holy bible, Amon sounding the bell, etc.
Anyway, there was only nearly 90 chapters within this volume so it wasn't as—how do I say it—carefully laid down but rather, it was like a bombardment of events and informations. I still had fun!
This volume went by very quickly. The revelations are astounding and yet fit with all the backstory we've gained over the past 6 volumes. I just have to say, this is amazing. To build up a backstory with laced with intrigue and filled with plot twists and yet have such a complicated backstory be cohesive and make sense. Wow! Really well done. And despite answering some very important questions, there's still a clear desire to know more and find out how the problems that have been set up earlier are resolved. Storytelling done well in my opinion.
There is no reason to write a post for each "volume" as I have read the whole thing as one book anyway and even the chapter separation is kind of weird, probably because of the serialized nature of the release. Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I've finished this humongous novel. Bad news is that there is a sequel!! :D
The increase in level of the main protagonist goes on. Not only does he do it faster and easier - in terms of pages dedicated to the difficulty - but so do all of his friends. But there is a catch, of course. First of all the most scary antagonist by far: God of Deceit Amon. Second of all, of course there are levels above sequence 0. And I apologize if me telling you that made you instantly go insane, it's your own fault for not raising to a sufficiently high Beyonder level.
You see, not only are there gods in the world, but also gods from outside the world, encroaching in. There are some really complicated rules being applied and the final epic battle is truly epic, so I will leave it at that: I finished Lord of Mysteries and I liked it.
The second book, Circle of Inevitability, closes the story completely and also is half of the first book in terms of size. I wonder if I should be masochistic enough to start reading it as well...
Listen, I love this series. Yes it was “slow to start” but once I got invested, the pacing became my favorite thing about it. I loved that the author took the time to flesh out characters and situations. He was meticulous with each detail and development. And with how much care and time went into every scene, I fell in love with it.
The later volumes feel like the author is trying to… not speed run. But go at a standard pace. Things are happening much faster and there are a lot of time skips, with some character development and advancement happening off page. Which made me feel a bit sad. It feels like the story isn’t being savored anymore but the author is just trying to finish it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still really good. But it’s like the faster the story is told, the less I enjoy it. So this was my least favorite volume.
The next and final volume is only 47 chapters. How the hell are we going to wrap up the entire story in 47 chapters? There are so many things to wrap up. And Klein still has, apparently (maybe) TWO whole sequences to get to the end. Not to mention the thing that is prophesied to happen in, like, 9 years. Is the last chapter going to span 9 whole years? In 47 chapters??????
Everything is being revealed, so many answers to so many questions and its so gratifying. Merlin hermes is a very very short lived persona i want to see more of him as he seems like one of the but as this is the penultimate volume I can guess I wont. Another very gratifying thing is seeing the forsaken land of the gods members explore the outside world. Another contender for my favorite single chapter, chapter 1335 (?) called I, its a perfect chapter that shows off utopia immaculately and what klein is going through to maintain this. Also a trend has started however which I am not a fan of and hope it does not continue into vol 8, which is the pace has started to move into a breakneck pace and I am worried that after 1400 chapters the ending will be rushed and thats just ugh. 1 more negative, The Power system is so great however we've reached the point that at the higher levels beyonders are so incredibly strong that coherent battles from them cannot exist anymore due to pure powercreep and thats also not very fun. Not a nag on the volume but just of the series as a whole. overall this series is incredible top 5 fantasy for me and just great so far excited for volume 8.
favorite moments from the volume 1. Meeting Roselle 2. Mr. Door 3. Utopia.

Still going strong with the world building. Zaratul fight was disappointing to say the least, it was barely a paragraph. Interactions between Klein and Roselle, and the psychological fight between Klein and Adam were pure brilliance. The story leaves clues as to how Klein could still act in the physical world after becoming a Lord of Mysteries compared to other deities, which makes me happy to know he'll be back in subsequent parts, and still be able to interact with the other characters. I finally realized that Alger is a total Tsundere😂😂😂...... he acts all lone wolf but once you understand his backstory over the 7 volumes, you get to know that he wants Power so he can make the world a better place for people like him who don't belong anywhere, even when thinking that the deities aren't helping him he still defends the city from the sealed artifacts going loose.....
The deeper we dive into LoTM, the more intense it gets. Usually I cry at the end of a volume, but not this time—thankfully it wasn’t the big ugly cry. Still, I teared up twice.
The first time was when the Silver and Moon City finally escaped the Forsaken Land. Maybe I’m overdramatic, but after following their hardships for so long, seeing them finally happy was so emotional.
The second time… obviously, it was Roselle Gustav. It took us so long to finally meet the real him, and it absolutely wrecked me. I just hope he gets a happy ending—someone please tell me he’ll be okay (without spoilers 😭).
And of course, thank you, Cuttlefish, for giving me another trauma—not just Amon this time. 🙃 Yes, Klein gets caught (by someone else, not Amon), and I was stressed the whole time. Amon still terrifies me though; every time I read the word “monocle” I feel like my heart stops.
This volume feels more like a setup for volume 8 than a volume in and of itself.
by this point a lot of the novelty of the world has worn off and battles and secrets of the world become less and less memorable as a result.
One of the most interesting arcs of the series happens in this volume, but it comes and goes too quickly and doesn't explore nearly as much of the concept that i would've wanted it to.
without the context of the previous volumes i may have even given this one 3 stars, but that context is there and this is a much shorter volume so it's not like it's a slog or anything, just not much happens that is memorable.
Overall I would've given this book 3 stars but Roselle and Bernadette's reunion just made it impossible to do so
"Come over, let me see how my little princess has grown." I kid you not I was sobbing buckets of tears the whole chapter 😭😭😭 and Klein's interaction with him as Zhou Mingrui had me emotional af too, so close yet so far from home, something only Klein, Roselle and Amanises will understand. Sigh. Anyways alot of things happened in this volume but it still felt like a set up for the ending volume.
Ps. I really don't like the Ancient Sun God at all ehhe

Amazing as always, it was a really entertaining volume and had me hooked the whole time. From the meeting of Roselle to the parallel lives Klein experienced in the marionette town it was an awesome read. The rushed pace was a double-edged sword though: It was especially easy to stay hooked throughout the entirety because of the reduced size of the volume, but the price we paid for that was Fraudtul who would’ve been one of the best characters in the series if he cashed in on all the prior setup
The chain reaction at the end is awesome

This volume took me way too long to read, but oh, how I enjoyed it.
Everything is chaos. Derrick led his people outside, and the Church of the Fool is now a thing while Klein advances once again to learn of all the things that can and will go wrong in less than two decades. Cool.
Armed with revelations, enough side missions to constantly confuse me, and our favourite magical mirror, Merlin Hermes delivers insanity. As usual.
I will not delve deeper because at this point my only option is to describe the insanity of the whole volume; but I will just say that this whole thing was intense and crazy. And way too long.
(Not long in the sense of pages but there are many thing that are rusher compared to previous volumes).
"I play the seven-stringed guitar by the fountain in the municipal Square. I use my knife and fork to slice the steak. In the cathedral, I describe the teachings of the Goddess to the believers. I reach out my right hand and leave the carriage with the help of a gentleman. I get the new dress I had been eyeing for so long, and I can’t wait to change into it. I stride forward with my four legs as I’m being chased by a child. I laugh loudly as I totter about and play with a dog... "
In my opinion, one of the best thing about this volume is Merlin Hermes. Though his appearances aren't that frequent or elaborate, this persona had been greatly enjoyable and entertaining to read. This volume felt more lighthearted compared to the other ones...truth be told I missed the regular Tarot Gatherings. But it is true that the closing chapters felt kind of rushed.
so... ok. this one was a LOT. Klein was in the "back burner" this whole book, more like a god (deservingly) and we focused on things happening. even if Zaratul death was underwhelming, I still got chills from the slimy "god" Amon. Delving deep into the lore, it's getting weirder and even more lovecraftian
