Returned the book. While I do believe there is benefit to having a balanced spiritual life & body. Having this book claim as it did that unbalanced chakras are a cause of some major health & mental disorders of which you merely need to realign your energies to be while again is very harmful. Especially when some of these disorders rightly need medication & doctor supervision. Now with these health problems can having a balanced energy system help support ones self in combination with professional help? Most certainly! That is just not how the author conveyed the message in this book. I was disappointed because it had been rated highly.

More nonsense for the emotionally weak and incredibly stupid.

Placebo's are powerful. We know, for example, that giving people pills made out of cornstarch—or fake acupuncture, with needles that never pierce the skin—can prompt relief from pain.

this is how chakra's work.

Like prayer, it does nothing unless you are using it to relieve stress by spending time thinking of charkra's instead of your problems.

Please seek professional help when you have health or mental issues. Find a doctor or therapist.

I do think things like meditation or yoga have benefits, but to a certain degree. The author states that certain diseases can be solved through chakra healing, WITHOUT addressing medical health care. Yes, you can always meditate or do yoga, but that shouldn't always be the primary thing to do.

"All living beings have powerful centers of energy called chakras. ...By learning what we each carry in our individual energy systems, we can empower ourselves on deep levels to transform into radiant creatures we were meant to be."

Este libro es un excelente punto de partida para conocer los chakras, cómo activarlos, cómo meditar y qué cristales usar.

Basic guide to essentials of chakras and energy healing, good reference for when actively working and too lazy to compile information yourself, was very copy and paste, nothing too in-depth or thought provoking - just knowledge I already had formatted in an accessible way for convenience

I'm interested in learning more about the chakras but to insinuate that people get cancer or that women struggle with infertility simply because their chakras are unbalanced.... yea you lost me. Some of the balancing tips were interesting and I will attempt to incorporate them, but to also repeatedly suggest smudging when that is a closed practice doesn't sit well with me. The author could have advised for readers to utilize smoke cleansing which is not closed practice, but to instead use the term "smudging" either implies that either a) she expects all readers to be Native American or b) does not respect Native American culture and understand why smudging is a closed practice.

It's good source of information provided to understand all the inner body of our physical as well as spiritual system.. the inner aura and all the 7 chakras which are interconnected, if one of those imbalances or blocked than our emotions mentality gets disturbed and we get into stress .So kindly practice yoga, meditation, proper diet & nutrition and maintain yourself for a better Tomorrow..!!

Meh. It’s a good introduction to chakras, which was what I was looking for, but it stays very surface level. I do like that it gives you many ideas for healing the chakras as well, very interesting! I was however a bit bothered by the repetitive advice to use white sage to “smudge” (a closed practice with an endangered herb), as well as the fact that in my opinion there were some medical conditions that were made to feel as if they’re your fault for not having “balanced chakras”. Could have gone more into the history and origins of chakras too. Did read this in a day.

This was a great, in-depth read. It covers more than just chakras. It talks about crystals, yoga, and meditation as well. This book is not only great for a beginner, but it also has some great information for those with experience as well. The author did a great job sharing personal experiences to give us real-life examples and hope that it truly works.

Not nearly the experience I was hoping for. It's more of a reference than a book you would sit and read. Many of the information is "copy and paste style", altering only key words within each chakra. I'll use it, but it fell very short of what I was looking for.

This book provides a basic guide to understanding Chakras and their impact on the body and mind. This is the first book that I've read on Chakras so am not sure how other guides are set up. I found the information to be a little redundant in the last half of the book and it wasn't clear if this was meant as an attempt to build on the knowledge from the previous chapters or not. Overall, it provides a good outline to build from if you are interested in the topic.

Repetitive, but half is informative. It's a good little starter to keep on the shelf for easy reference. It's really probably a\more of a 3 but I'm giving it a 4.

This is a fine surface-level introduction to chakra healing, but I do wish there were more significant cultural knowledge to explore here. I would only recommend this book to someone if they had absolutely no concept of the chakra energy system whatsoever and needed shallow material for general reference purposes. Also, swaths of text are reprinted literally word for word in the section at the end that profiles each chakra. Alcantara just swaps out the nouns to make the meditation summaries applicable, which really isn't all that helpful. I suppose this wouldn't be so much of an issue if this weren't such a slender book as it is.

What is helpful, however, is the symptoms and ailments overview section which details how specific chakra work can theoretically alleviate various states of disease and discomfort. I can see myself utilizing this section and benefiting from it. But overall, I imagine there are more thorough beginners' guides to chakra healing out there.

This is a great read for a beginner or for a refresher in chakra healing. I enjoyed the simplicity of the book. I feel there was just enough information to process and possibly implement into your everyday life. The structure of the book is well organized. Worth a read if your interested in chakra healing.

Good content however during the "healing specific chakras" section, a lot of the content was repetitive. That's fine if that's truly the case, but spare the trees and say the parts that are different.

First things first, smudging is a closed practice!

This book contains good nuggets of information, but these are buried *deeply* inside of repetitive VERY beginner notes and recommendations to smudge.

As someone who has been actively studying chakra’s for many years, is a trained Reiki practitioner and who actively teaches about chakras, crystals and many other spiritual topics that are covered (albeit lightly) in this book, the main reason I read books like this is to assess if it is something I would recommend to my clients. If so, whether it’s an entry level education for beginners, a good collection for those coming into it with existing knowledge or if it is appropriate for someone who is already very educated on the topic. That in mind, I would recommend this book only to those who have NO previous knowledge on the topic and I would warn them REPEATEDLY that smudging and white sage are closed practices to Native American humans and even then, you cannot be trained on how to use this sacred method by reading a book like this…

If you do read this book and are not Native American I suggest replacing anywhere you hear ‘smudging’ with ‘smoke cleansing’ which is a practice that dates back to MANY cultures and is open to all humans. Some things I recommend replacing white sage with are: Rosemary, pine needles, Thyme and/or juniper, but there are SO many other replacements and I recommend looking into what herbs are available near you that you can collect/harvest/purchase and use ethically.

Why it is so important to make sure you are using ethical practices, beside the obvious desire not to further harm indigenous communities, is that you are entering into a practice that works with energy. If you are working with energy you want that energy to be happy and ‘good’ energy and using tools and practices that are not for you is going to immediately bring ‘negative’ energy in (although I personally believe energy is always neutral, there is definitely a difference between energy that WANTS to work with you and energy that definitely does NOT). You will likely also find that practices that come from your part of the world and/or the practices that come from your lineage will come more naturally to you and feel less like work.

With anything spiritual, there is an absolutely endless list of opinions and practices and it is up to you to listen to your body, self and spirit and see what works for you! For instance, I’m allergic to lavender so even though lavender is regularly considered to be a very relaxing and calming herb, it most definitely is not for me… it will help me sleep, but only once, and permanently… 😂 another example is if you are asthmatic, smoke cleansing may serve you only by making it harder to breathe… which is most definitely not what you want to be doing (I hope…). To summarise, listen to yourself and follow only what works for you! ☺️

I absolutely love this book! The author does a great job of thoroughly giving a basic understanding of chakras:describing each chakra, the elements of the chakras, what each chakra is linked to, identifiers of when the chakra is balanced and imbalanced, disorders that may be rooted in each chakra, and most importantly - healing methods for each chakra and all chakras as a whole.
I greatly appreciate the breakdown of this book as each section focuses on different parts of our daily lives such as: diet, food, mental issues, physical issues, self-care practices, and how these all can be healed as we identify which chakra(s) are imbalanced.
My favorite sections are 3 and 4! In section 3, the author lists 40 disorders that are affected by the imbalance of the chakras - and I must I say, they go deep and describe these disorders/issues in a way that suggest solutions. In section 4, the author has a 'healing layout plan' for healing each chakra through meditation, crystals, yoga, essential oils, and other tips they provide.
I also appreciate the dedicated sections at the end of this book: there is a specific section for yoga: describing many yoga positions(with pictures) and giving instructions as well descriptions of the benefits of the yoga poses. There is also a designated section for all the crystals that were mentioned in the book; giving healing qualities of the descriptions, pictures and chakras they can be used with.

I would say before reading this book, I suggest reading about chakras and having a basic understanding of what your energy field is and what the 7 main chakras are(even though it is briefly explained in this book as well).

Overall, I recommend this book to everyone!, whether or not you need healing. This is an amazing informational and guided book to keep and refer to when learning about and/or practicing spirituality - and/or refreshing your mind on some spiritual practices.

Chakra Healing is a guide to self-healing techniques that balance Chakras. It explains the benefits of having a spiritual lifestyle that comes with yoga, meditation, and food and diet techniques. It also explains the benefits of crystals and how they can improve your mental and physical health. This book helped me open my mind to meditation and helped me achieve a good sleep schedule.

However, I didn't like how it mentioned that crystals and meditation could cure real health conditions such as lung cancer, brain tumors, deafness etc. It seemed a little unrealistic to me. If a person had bad health, I would highly recommend you to go see a real doctor. Overall I'd rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Essential question : To what extent does power (or lack of power) affect individuals? - Power affects the mind and how people view the world. Spirituality is all about your energies and it gives you the power to control your life and how to manifest what you want. People can take spirituality and use it for the bad like for Dark magic and manifesting the wrong things.
Make one text-self connection - how does this story connect to your life? : This story connects to my life because you can apply these rituals and techniques to your everyday life. Using this book helped me improve a lot of things that I thought I couldn't surpass like my procrastination for everything.

I did enjoyed this book and I think the author explains really how to heal your chakras very simple. In the symptoms chapters there was no much explanation about how to seek professional help from doctors regarding health care problems, but I think if someone with common sense wouldn’t just rely on chakra healing when it comes to health issues. In fact always seek a doctors appointment for whatever health related issue you are having. If after a physical check up the doctors do not know why you have an ache somewhere maybe the issue is psychosomatic and here this guide can help you locate your pain and to which topics it is related. This have been my journey through understanding my anxiety disorder and working on the psychological reasons that led to my crisis. I’m also on therapy.

On thing that really bothered me about the book is the fact that the author does not give an alternative to Sage or Palo Santo for cleansing. I think is irresponsible from the author to now bring awareness about cultural
Appropriation of Indigenous traditions and give the reader the option to seek alternatives that don’t require appropriation. If you are interested just google alternatives to white sage and palo santo and you’ll find good articles on other things you can use to cleanse you home and body.

Chakra Healing is a beginner’s guide to how the energetic body impacts the physical body. If you’ve never considered the connection before, this book will blow your mind. If you’re familiar with energetic and emotional and physical ties then you probably already have a copy of Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life and you don’t need this book. It’s just a less robust version with an emphasis on chakras. Honestly, all you really need to know is which chakras connect with which emotional states and then you could go to any other yoga, essential oils, or meditation resource and solve your problems that way. Because the book is a survey, she glosses all the modalities and several common ailments, but doesn’t go into depth. Instead, the healing remedies and treatment section is mostly repetitive instructions for how to do the same things but with a different oil or crystal. I would have much rather seen the treatments next to the ailment descriptions, but then again, I am obviously a fan of You Can Heal Your Life, and this book is not that book. I was hoping to learn about minor chakras or sound healing or how acupuncture or maybe even chiropractic and other lesser known modalities can balance your chakras, but that wasn’t her project. If you want a primer, though, this is it.

The formatting of this book was good - I really liked the way it was organized and sectioned off. It made reading it easy and clear to follow. She covered the 7 major chakras, which I appreciated, as you can get lost in the minor ones. I also enjoyed the more practical aspects of the book such as key information about each chakra (including elements, chant sounds, and affirmations), and meditations and yoga poses that are meant to help open/unblock the different chakras.

Why did I give this a 2 star rating, you ask? Well, although the more practical aspects were good, there were problems.

1) She attributed very serious physical and mental health issues to blocked chakras. These ailments weren't always fully blamed on blocked chakras, but enough that it actually made me a bit angry.

2) There was zero evidence (sources) given to support her points. And, while I know there isn't a terrible amount of good research out on this topic, there is some, and none of it was cited.

3) There as extensive information on the use of crystals and essential oils with, again, zero evidence to support the claims.

While I do believe firmly in the power of yoga and meditation, if you are experiencing physical or mental health issues, please seek out a professional for medical attention.
