All of these stories are very sweet, and based upon fairy tales that were easily recognisable to me. My favorite out of the issues would have to be the third one, but each one was charming and enjoyable to read.

This volume loses out a bit in focusing on some of the lesser known Avengers. When you're being super Meta and mixing two stories together, there needs to be instant recognition. Okay, Kate Bishop is great, and she kinda worked as the "red Queen" in Alice in Wonderland, and She-Hulk as Dorothy in Oz is fun. But younger and less obsessive readers won't know all the characters yet.
Still, I'm always down for a meta-narrative

This was absolutely adorable! Marvel characters interwoven with the original stories of Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz. Not the most thrilling reading of course, but still, it gets 4 stars simply for such a creative setup.

Dreamy art, and good reworkings of fairy tales with Marvel characters. I especially loved the Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz issues.

Peter Pan - 3 stars

This is so-so. Steve Rogers is Peter Pan, which I guess kind of makes sense since he was trapped on ice and (pretty much) doesn't get old and all that :P still, it was kind of weird to make that connection.

I'm not sure what I think of the art. Sometimes it's kinda cute, but other times it's so simple that the artist doesn't even draw the PUPILS of the characters, which makes them looks weird. Also, their facial features (like eyes, nose and mouth) are tiny and yet their actual faces are round and big.

The Avengers are the lost boys and I find that pretty cute. But I kinda miss the female avengers... the only ones to show up here are Wanda Maximoff (who's Wendy) and Janet Van Dyne (who's Tinkerbell), and neither of them are really a part of the "lost boys", so yeah...

Wanda's powers actually makes the fairytale WAAAAAY cooler than it originally was!! I guess that's the kind of retelling that I expect from the Marvel Fairy-Tales :)

I also like that Wanda is the one to save the day, even though the story is about PETER PAN (AKA STEVE ROGERS).

The ending, however, I didn't like much.

Pinocchio - 4.5 stars

THE FEELS

THE FEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

This was the saddest story yet. I felt that it was even sadder than Pinocchio itself!

Basically, Hank Pym is Gepetto and Vision is Pinocchio. Due to a tragic thing that happened in his life (spoiler alert: he thought his wife had died), Hank no longer believes in happy endings. For the longest time, he just sat there brooding and being an emo, when finally he had the idea to make himself a son.

Vision is literally the cutest robot I've ever seen in my life! And yes, he's a robot in this version. The writer for this retelling manages to give Vision a very childish voice (as if he's REALLY a little boy) while still keeping the whole "I'm literally a machine so my IQ is above any of you humans lol" going on. Kudos to that!

I didn't very much like Hank in this because HE WAS A TERRIBLE FATHER. Vision was bullied by every kid in his school, including his teacher/headmaster, and yet when he came back home Hank all but shit on him as well. Hank wouldn't allow him to go to his workshop, Hank would FORCE him to eat and sleep (he's a robot, so he doesn't need either) and when Hank received a call from the (evil) teacher lying about how Vision was a terrible boy at school, HE DIDN'T THINK TWICE BEFORE YELLING AT HIS "SON". Like, come on, Hank. Would it be too hard to at least try to LISTEN to your son's side???? Besides, he's a fuCKING ROBOT WHO HAS EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENTS TO YOU, SO HE WOULD NEVER LIE LMAO YOU SUCK AT PARENTING

The only friend Vision ever had was Janet Van Dyne, who's currently too small to be seen or even heard. She's pretty much his talking cricket.

Later, everything falls in place. We find out why Janet is tiny, what happened to Hank to be such a terrible father, why the teacher/headmaster is a total douche. And I gotta say: this story is the best out of this bundle.

Despite the intense feels, the story even has a happy ending!! Vision doesn't become a real boy, but in return he now has a mommy and a daddy and they lived happily ever after <3

Alice in Wonderland - 2 stars

This has the prettiest art style out of the bunch (it looks like a very cute manga!), but sadly, that doesn't mean it's the "best".

I was very confused throughout this issue because I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANY OF THESE CHARACTERS!!!!!! The only one I already knew was Ant Man, but that's it. Then I googled about Cassandra Lang (who is Alice in this version) and she's pretty much the only character who says her name. Everyone else just shows their faces and, since I don't know who they are, I couldn't recognize them JUST by their faces.

This made enjoying this issue kind of difficult, since it's way better to actually KNOW who is cast as which character (like how Cassie is Alice and Scott Lang is the Caterpillar).

That wasn't the only thing that I didn't like either: EVERYONE treats Cassie like absolute shit. Not everyone was mean to Alice in the original story, and yet in this version there's not a single character who's nice to Cassie.

Also, the ending is ridiculous. It seemed like a "Disney ending" to me: everything ends well with no consequences at all and everyone's happy. Not even the Evil Queen and King were "evil", which is just... lame. Bleh.

Wizard of Oz - 1.5 stars

The artist is the same as the one who drew spiderman's little red riding hood, so you already know what I think of his style.

This one... doesn't make a whole lot of sense either.

Scarlett Witch is the Wicked Witch of the East and I may be wrong, but I see her as a good witch. If anything, I expected her to be Glinda!! So that's the first thing that made me go "wait, what?"

The second thing that made me go "wait, what" is that Magneto is the Wizard of Oz. To those who know the story, the Wizard of Oz... isn't a nice man at all. He lies and manipulates people, so at first the thought of Magneto as the Wizard may seem perfect EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT HE'S WAY TOO NICE IN THIS STORY!

She-Hulk (Dorothy) drops a house on his daughter (Quicksilver, which in this version is called "Pietra") and he isn't even fucking mad. He's like "oh well...". And then he tells her that he needs her help to talk to his other daughter, Scarlett Witch, because he hasn't seen her in years because of something stupid he did.

Magneto is so off-character and pathetic in this retelling. I could forgive Wanda being "evil", but this? This shit is the lamest.

But that's not all that made me angry about it! Jennifer actually is in "human mode" when in Oz, so when Scarlett Witch finally traps her, she magically becomes She-Hulk and threatens to hurt Wanda but SCARLETT WITCH HAS MOTHERFUCKING MAGIC POWERS AND SHE COULD EASILY VANISH FROM THERE AND KILL SHE-HULK ON A FUCKING WHIM WHAT THE FUCKKKKK

This one also has a "disney ending", but it is worse than before. I think I really didn't enjoy this story.

Overall rating: 2 stars

This wasn't as good as spiderman fairytales. I think the only one I really liked was the Pinocchio one...

I work in a Library and saw this when I was checking Junior books in. I checked it out because I am a super nerd when it comes to fairy tales and marvel ANYTHING. These re-tellings were super cute and fun and I love the message each one had. Perfect for younger kids who maybe don't enjoy reading so much, but love superhero or Disney movies. I thought they were very well done.
