A mysterious chest. A terrifying vision. Are their newfound powers enough to take down an unspeakable evil?

Chloe Blake’s campus rental has it all: a retro Victorian vibe, a beautiful picture window, and a perfect view of Ethan Reynolds—the guy who broke her heart and lives across the street. But when she sees disturbing visions of death slide across the panes, she’s convinced she’s glimpsed into Ethan’s future. She’ll stop at nothing to change fate and save him… even if it means everyone will think she’s crazy.

Liked it

A new year in college and Chloe and Miranda had taken up an old Victorian house.
Even before Chloe had a strong intuition and house just seems to make her power stronger. She begins to see visions inside the house and that connects her to her childhood friend and one more person with special abilities.
The story has been set in this strong premise as it develops bringing in the other elements.
Overall the element of the unknown and the danger is felt throughout. But what I enjoyed was how the supernatural elements were weaved with the ordinary daily school life. Liked the story.

Parts of The New Super Humans series were previously published as The Talisman Chronicles. The author has rewritten and expanded upon the story, so I jumped at the chance to read this new version, knowing I’d be in for a treat.

At the start of a new year at college, best friends Chloe and Miranda move into an old Victorian house together. Chloe has always had a strong intuition, but the house seems to amplify that, and she starts seeing visions in its ornate picture window. Although initially hesitant, they try to understand and act upon her visions. As a result, they reconnect with childhood friend Ethan and meet new girl Wren.

Slowly, they discover secrets hidden inside the house, and find out that special power is bestowed upon Wren. They also start to realize that a strange and powerful force is at work, wreaking havoc, and their powers can be used to fight this force, referred to as It.

This dangerous supernatural quest brings with it a looming sense of foreboding throughout the story. In the meantime, they are also regular college students, and this part of their lives is not neglected. They have classes, study dates, sporting events, crushes, and jobs. The author has a wonderful way of weaving the ordinary with the extraordinary, making the supernatural well-integrated into the characters’ lives.

If you’ve read The Talisman Chronicles before, you’ll recognize parts of the story, but there is enough new material in Super Humans to make for an enticing new read.

I love this author's paranormal reads she just makes it all work. Off to a new year at college and living off campus 2 friends discover something amazing. Well it happens to one but the best bud has to help figure it all out right. I mean I love this girl, she is the best best friend EVER. She doesn't think her friend is strange she just works with her to make everything work out. And work out it does. Friendships are restored into more. New friends are found. An enemy is discovered though and it's gonna take more than one book to defeat her. Something is happening and they seem to be gearing up for something big. This is bigger than they ever imagined and the strange things happening are getting stranger. There isn't a cliff hanger so to speak but it is clear these will need to be read in order. That's fine with me I plan on hanging in for the long haul.

Two girls, best friends Chloe and Miranda are excited to living off campus this year. They move into a beautiful Victorian home that has a little surprise waiting for them or more like Chloe. The house shows Chloe things through the front window. Chloe sees things or visions some are from the past but some are set in the future.

The visions don’t always come true or may not in the way she sees them as they can be changed which is just want Chloe does with the help of her long time best friend Miranda. Miranda is the best friend everybody wants to have. She is always right beside Chloe trying to help her figure out her visions and will help her any way she can to stop them from becoming true.

Chloe and Miranda’s childhood friend Ethan lives across the street in a fraternity house. Chloe has been saving Ethan life for a long time. She will see visions showing her accidents that Ethan is involved in resulting in his death but she has always been able to change them some way or another. One of the visions that Chloe sees in the front window is of Ethan being in an accident and not surviving. Chloe has to find a way to change the vision and hopefully save his life. Can Chloe save Ethan? Can she stop the accident from happening? If she can save him how does she manage to handle it? What is the outcome?

Chloe also has visions about a girl she has never met with a fog or tornado but something big and bad is about to happen. What that is Chloe has no idea but she has to find a way to stop it before it is too late. Who is this girl and what does she have to do with what is coming? Mysterious and strange things are happening to people that contains a black fog and causes people to turn on each other for no reason.

Super Humans started out kind of slow with getting to know Chloe, Miranda, Ethan, and Wren who they are and how their lives intertwined and with the background info on Chloe and how her visions worked but once Wren was introduced into the picture the action kicked in and I was hooked I can’t wait to read more about this fog or tornado thingy that is coming. I also want to see how Chloe and Ethan’s relationship escalates. I hope to see more of Dylan and Miranda and how their relationship goes.

If you like magic and the paranormal then you are going to fall in love with Super Humans.

Miranda and Chloe are excited to be moving off campus into the cute little house right off campus. When Chloe starts to get strange feelings and see visions of the future through the front window of the house, Miranda is convinced that Chloe is tapping into her psychic powers. When the window starts showing her visions of an accident and a strange disturbing fog, Chloe knows that she needs to make an attempt to try and change the future before it is too late.

I think my favorite part of the book was the friendship between Miranda and Chloe. They there for each other in any way needed, be it to tamper with a car, interpret visions, tease about a boy or even tough love if needed. This is the type of friendship that everyone should strive for in life and it made me happy to have it as one of the main relationship dynamics of the book.

The one thing that I did find myself struggling with the book was the chance in narrators. The first 2/3 of the book was narrated by Chloe and occasionally Ethan, but then the last third of the book was narrated by an entirely new character and occasional bad guy points of view. We never really went back to Chloe (we see her occasionally, but never as the main character), who I had assumed was the main character and my favorite, so I felt like I was missing something.

This is very much the first in a series where the world building is just starting and the conflict is being presented. I am not sure what will happen next but I would be interested enough to pick up the next book!

I am voluntarily reviewing an advance, complimentary copy of this book.

Exciting!

Life is far from dull for best friends Chloe and Miranda. For as long as she can recall, Chloe has had strong feelings and visions about things. Over the years they've caused more than a few issues, and caused friendships to be lost. The most painful was losing their childhood friend Ethan when she knocked on his house in the middle of the night desperate to save his life. Instead out caused his parents to force him to stay away from her, in doing so causing Chloe to be outsider at school. The last thing the girls expected upon starting college and moving into their rental house was for Ethan to live in the frat house across the street. Even less was the fact this house appeared to be special. Chloe's visions strengthened, and while looking out a specific window of their house she started seeing moving pictures and possibilities. It seems she's somehow linked to this house....and it seems there something else to learn about their new place. All kinds of interesting things have started happening....take the ride and see what happens!!! It's full of magic, intrigue, friendship, and the start of a romance of two.

This was competently written (including good copy editing, which is rarer than it should be). I'm only giving it three stars, though, because there's nothing much else outstanding about it, and it's not a complete, satisfying story in itself.

I wondered why a new viewpoint character got introduced at the 60% mark, when normally you would introduce all your key characters and their conflicts by 25% through the book. When I got to the end, I realized that this is the setup for a series, and is essentially Act I of the story that is (presumably) told in that series. The whole book is the first 25% (or so) of a complete story, and it's clear by the end that we have several more characters to come yet, so maybe it's not even all of Act I.

The characters were OK, but didn't have an outstanding amount of depth to them. The threat they faced was mostly vague and generic. In general, it needed to grab me a lot harder in order to keep me reading, if it wasn't going to give me the satisfaction of a fully resolved plot arc.

It was OK. But I wanted something more than that.

An excellent story .
Chloe and Miranda and Ethan were friends when they were younger , Then suddenly Ethan wasn't talking to Chloe anymore, 10 years later they are living across the street from each other again. The house Chloe and Miranda are living is great . There is the window that shows Chloe visions past present and what may be the future. She sees visions of Ethan, and this draws him into what is now her new normal. Then Wren comes to town and is drawn to the house, she has a power just as Chloe does, She is part of the plan to keep others safe, there are others and in time they will join them,Chloe sees what maybe the battle of their lives. The battle can not be stopped , but it must be won.
I received and ARC of this story .
This is my honest opinion and rating of 5 stars *****

Super Humans......the beginning

Super Humans looks as though it’s going to be another winner for T. M Franklin if this first book is anything to go by, especially if you like a paranormal mystery. In Super Humans, we see two childhood friends, Chloe and Miranda set the scene when they move to a new town to attend university together and move into a little house with a mysterious window that calls to Chloe. Strange encounters and dark forces seem to follow them and with that, comes along Ethan, Chloe’s childhood best friend who left her alone and heartbroken as only a young boy could, without explanation. As the dark forces intensify, we see friends drawn together and the reason become all too clear ........ Super Humans.
This first books sets us up for the rest of the series and this has left me ready to start on he second in the series, Super Powers.

I am not really into serial books they must be exceptional for me to read a set. In this series the characters are students at a Washington college. Two friends, Chloe and Miranda, are starting at college and rent a house near the campus. One day Chloe sees images in the picture window. Eventually Chloe and Miranda figure out that she is seeing images from the past, and possible images in the future. This leads them to a third young woman named Wren. The trio find a trunk in the attic and Wren is the only one to see a timepiece in the trunk. She picks it up and is 'dissolves' into her wrist. From this point on Wren has the ability to stop time. There is an entity that shows itself as smoke but is an evil presence that follows Wren. This entity wants to stop the young women from finding others from their group (that they are unaware of being a part of). So ends the first book.

From the description this book was not what I expected. This is not a bad thing, just different. I think maybe I was expecting a bit more action. This is the first book by this author that I've read, so I'm not familiar with the series that this was expanded from, so that may make a difference. This book is very interesting, but it is a book that sets up a series. It gives you background stories, and lets you know how the characters get to where they are for the main event. Wren doesn't get introduced until towards the end of the book, so we don't know much about her power. I am very interested in where this story goes as this book did draw me in.

From the first chapter to the last you are witness to an extraordinary group of people as they discover their super abilities. I quite enjoyed how the characters reacted to not-so-normal situations with super people... only to discover that they themselves also have a super power. The author did an excellent job of keeping me on my toes. Whenever I thought I knew what was going to happen, BAM, an unexpected but highly rewarding twist! I’m itching to dive into the next book in the series! And I’m left wondering if I might have a super ability too!

A lot is going on around Miranda and Chloe. Chloe seeing visions and Miranda helping her. It is nice to have a BFF that is not embarrassed to be seen with you when thing get weird. Someone to help make you feel less embarrassed. They add Ethan and then Wren. They are picking up people and bringing them all together. It looks like a black mass of smoke. Well I hope they understand it soon and how many books will it take? Very exciting story and we will see how the plot goes. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

The story:

Best friends Chloe and Miranda, eager to start their college careers, move into an old, off-campus Victorian house that, strangely, has no other tenants. Soon after, Chloe starts having visions through the house’s picture window. This sets off a chain of events that will see the pair team up with several more unique individuals to battle a force of growing darkness.

This book was not something I expected. I'm used to reading stories about super heroes and they are always over the top. This one wasn't. It's book where we meet two super humans and their friends. It's a slow read but satisfying. I was highly impressed with the details and with how they find each other. There are multiple of views and they flow very nicely so it's an easy read. Due to some language, I'd say it's for 18+. If you like super powers and heroes, this book is for you. Good luck in saving the world with Chloe.

Introduction to characters

This book was interesting, but I wanted it to be longer! More of an introduction to the main characters and a tiny bit about their powers. They are newly discovered, so that makes sense. I want to know more about the black smoke threat, and that trade about the Seer, Chloe, gathering warriors. So there's that to look forward to. I will wait for an omnibus though, because I dislike waiting for the next book! One at a time? No thanks, omnibus is the way to go.

Once chloe and Miranda got over their middle school drama with Ethan the story finally started introducing new characters and the nemesis. The powers are not what I would call super but are powers that they have to learn to control and find out why they have been gifted. Story just started to jive and then ends. First half of book sucks but then definitely starts to develop a plot with potential.

A quick, easy read into a new series of super humans, though the super bit is not particularly clear in this first book. I felt the story took a little while to get going, and some new and important characters don't appear until quite late in the book. The magic system has a good premise and keeps you guessing, the villain begins to make itself known, and the main protagonists are well-defined and likeable.
A light magical realism tale.

An enchanting paranormal story that’s sure to leave you wanting more.
As if being a college student and being new in town aren’t struggle enough, to discover you have powers that most people wouldn’t believe is an added stress that Chloe, Wren and their friends are living through. Can they figure out all the pieces to the puzzle before the smoke settles?

I really enjoyed this book, it grabbed me from the beginning and the characters are amazing. That being said, I did feel like it didn’t go quite as far as I was expecting. It was however the perfect length for this story. I love where this series is headed and I’m looking forward to book 2 in this series.

Decent read

I'm not sure, but I did feel like at times it tried to go too deep into the romance aspect. At times it just felt like it was pulling away from the story, as well as introducing some unnecessarily predictable tropes. So far I really like the general idea, and will read book 2, just hoping it focuses more on what makes the story unique.

I enjoyed the book but... Story 1 resolved at the end of chapter 9. Story 2 (10-15) then commenced with a new main character. I feel that the author was told that story 1 was too short.

Also, I wouldn't call a psychic a 'super' human. 'Super', to me, means Superman. I can accept Wren's ability is super.

These are external issues.

Potential but not enough to stick around for book 2.

Good for younger readers. Extremely slow start but the characters are drafted well.
Short and obviously segmented out. This first book is more like the first chapter than a first book.
A bit disappointed.
