The lights went out. It wasn’t your run of the mill blackout. It was the final step in a series of carefully orchestrated occurrences that crashed communication satellites, GPS, internet connections and anything containing a computer chip. In just a few days all of the conveniences that modern society relied upon to get through life were gone and the world was thrust backward in time inciting a power struggle of epic proportions. Lotus McClean found herself stranded in the mountains of Virginia when the world went black. When everyone around her panicked, Lotus knew what needed to be done. After all, she grew up completely off the grid, on the family farm where free-love was the norm and marajuana was the cash crop. Standing strong on her own, loneliness and vulnerability keep her away from people and in the safety of the old Mountain Inn that she calls home. Three very different men from different walks of life seek refuge in the motel and in her bed. Can they survive and thrive in a harsh new world? This book is intended for mature readers over the age of 18. It includes intense sexual situations, including MMFM and MM relations, adult language and violence.
--->>> Lotus was well equipped mentally and physically to deal with the fallout of the world as she knew it, taking care of those in need and being very pragmatic about how survive it all. When the men join her one by one, they complement her and her way of life. Very diverse characters and personalities in this story, who somehow all work well together, with Lotus at the nucleus.
This is my first book by this author and I was blown away. Im a survivor buff and I caught myself taking notes on some of the great information in this book. I love this heroine. I loved all the different scenarios each person survived. So many wonderful secondary characters. Dont forget hot!!!! Just great! I cant say enough! I highly recommend.
I don't even know how to describe how much I enjoyed this book. It was a very different read for me, outside of my normal box and has left me asking myself why I don't read more dystopian fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover.
An interesting story line, full of interesting survivalist moments, a main female character with a back story that guides all other characters, steamy moments shared between the characters, what isn't there to love.
Thanks to Clairissa SinClair, I'll be looking up more of your books to read.
I really liked this book! The characters are awesome and the storyline kept you reading until the very last words. Lotus is a fantastic FMC and I loved the guys! I would definitely recommend this book.
Incredible world building making for a world that can been seen as realistic. There is also amazing character building and development. This is a fantastic and entertaining read
Loved this book, I am not one for after the end of the world as we know it stories, but this on did it for me. I was hooked from the beginning and it just got better. Lotus is the women I would want to be, if I had a do over. Henry is amazing, Colt grows on once you under stand him. Bronson just has to accept who he is and not who he thinks he is. If the end of the world as we know it happens my sister will make it and her kids because she is a bit like Lotus. Me I will have to get to my sister to make it. A feel good must read. I almost didnt but so glad I did.

If grammar and dropped words bother you don't read
I'll be honest the story is good, not great. Hard to concentrate when you are trying to guess the correct word in a sentence. Characters had backstories that helped the reader to somewhat connect with them. I finished and gave it 3 stars for effort. It could have very easily been more if the writer had employed an editor. I understand self publishing but a good editor can take you to the next level.
This book seems like it should be filled with energy and high emotions because it’s about The End of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAWKI), it’s also a Reverse Harem. Instead, it’s strangely soothing. The narrative is filled with gentle observation, even when there is peril and violence, or sex. I might have been disappointed if I’d wanted something different from what I got, but I was actually in the mood for it, even if I didn’t realise it when I started the book.
The book is set in an isolated motel, on the side of a mountain, which is where Lotus, the MFC is staying when TEOTWAWKI happens. Basically, all the computers stop working, which leads to everything else not working. Lotus is a city girl now, working as a Marketing Director for an outward bound equipment company, but she used to live off the grid in a free-love hippy commune, until the age of 16 when her commune was dismantled.
So, when TEOTWAWKI happens she is out in the middle of nowhere, with a truck full of survival equipment and the training and mentality to help her stay alive when the rest of the world stops working. The story is how Lotus not only survives but gets back to a kind of living that makes her happy, making a different kind of family along the way.
As I said, it’s got a very gentle observational style of writing. This puts a small barrier between the reader and the characters which help reduce the amount of angst and darker emotions that people going through TEOTWAWKI experience. However, that also mutes their happiness and joy. It has a kind of a pioneer spirit feel to it, with learning how to manage finite resources and finding ways to better their lives without electricity and easy access to modern medicines.
The characters are pretty interesting, and there are multiple POVs though the main POV is Lotus. We have an insight into some of the character’s journey to the mountain hideaway, but that insight isn’t uniform. This allows the history of the characters to slowly unfold. I really liked Lotus. She has a very conflicted attitude to her childhood which she loved but felt that she shouldn’t because it isn’t generally accepted to practice free love as an underage girl. Her background meant that she never really achieved happiness in the outside world. It did make her strong and educated in the way that really matters when it comes to surviving in the wilderness.
The men were all interesting and captivating in different ways and all of them had things they had to recover from, either from before TEOTWAKI or their journey after it happened. They all had very different circumstances but had complementary personalities as they learned to live with themselves and others.
I really enjoyed this book and will probably investigate reading others by the author, because she has an unusual way of looking at things and people, and that’s something I always enjoy.
This book reminds me a bit of the classic PA book Earth Abides, but only in tone. The lights go out and FMC Lotus is far from home, but has the right skill set to survive. This book doesn’t have a plot in the traditional way of RH; that’s why it reminds me of Earth Abides. It reads more like a chronicle of survival.
The good: -alternating POVs -accurate descriptions of living off the grid and what it takes to survive -slow-build harem which is more believable given the circumstances (I mean slow in that large amounts of time pass within the timeline of the book; not that things take forever to get steamy) -steamy times are steamy -strong and knowledgeable FMC - MMC are not perfect but their flaws are realistic and they have interesting journeys
The bad: -really bad editing. Lots of typos, like missing or wrong words, misspelled words, lake of opening or closing quotation marks. The Epilogue is titled “prologue” for example. One chapter is supposed to be from one character’s perspective but is actually from another’s, but you can’t tell for a few pages. - the lack of character development for the FMC. She starts strong, stays strong, ends strong. There’s no real way to engage with her, so while it’s a good thing she’s strong, we don’t see her needing to learn or accept anything so she’s not that interesting -no pay off on the M/M, and I’m not sure this actually had any MMFM scenes; they were more like MFM and then M/F adjacent scenes -the steamy scenes are steamy but the lead ins and outs are awkward, mostly because of the matter-of-fact nature of the FMC.
Bottom line, this book would be a lot better with some basic editing. It would be a whole star better with some substantial changes to the characterization. I’m not sure if actually changing the nature of the story to give it a more traditional plot would change anything, though. It’s mostly bad grammar, editing, and characterization that plague this book.
What would you do if all modern conveniences disappeared in a blink, sadly chaos and greed would most likely rule the day. The real victories come from those who survive and flourish without losing compassion or hope. Lotus definitely embodies a brave thoughtful approach, Henry, Bronson, & Colton all have issues and challenges but their strengths come alive with Lotus. Together they build a life that’s goal worthy. On the other hand, don’t really get having the need to have the exact same conversation from 2 or 3 POV. like many long in tooth stories it just drops off at the end. The entire story is told from multiple POVs but the epilogue is only 1 POV (which is biggest misstep we deserve a peek at how the guys process fatherhood) with a ton unanswered questions.
This is a yearly re-read for me. I love how the FMC in this book takes charge and is basically the leader even with a group of men.
The men each come into the picture at different times throughout the book and each have their own unique backstory. They all have overcome and survived horrible hardships and I love seeing the complete change their lives evolve into. One is a recovering addict, one went through a horrific brutality during the collapse, and one was on the verge of becoming a bad guy just to survive but turned around due to the FMC and her men. There’s also a pet monkey one MC rescued from the zoo.
It’s sweet, empowering, and spicy. The spice is maybe a 2.5-3 out of 5.
This story was awesome. The author did their homework and made everything interesting and believable. The F was a strong woman's and the M's were loving with complex back stories. However, the editing was atrocious! From missing letters in words to missing words in sentences made it hard to decipher what was supposed to be there. If the editing was done on this book it would definitely get 5 stars from me!
I enjoyed reading a post apocalyptic book that was based on a technology failure. It was something that I could actually see happening. I loved the female main character. Her 3 men came from such broken pasts and together they become a beautiful team.
Calmest apocalypse story I've ever read. But how CS explains the fall of computers and electronics is more believable to me than most dystopia books I've seen. It's an amazing conversation starter for sure. I got a little bored around the 85% mark but I finished the story and was satisfied with the ending.
This was a did bit finish book for me. I stoped at 49 percent and that was mostly with me skimming every chapter. It just didn’t click for me and seemed to either drag on or just not. Also put me off that she was almost raped and the cop that stopped it didn’t care and let them go and then started flirting with her and neither did she. This book just want for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by this. I love Lotus and want to be her when I grow up. She is strong knows how to survive at the end of the world. I loved her men too and how each one brings something to the relationship and they all complement each other. This is a great read.
A very well crafted story that was enjoyable to read. I liked the whole uniqueness of this story. The lead character was fascinating and the storyline was creative. A wonderful story from a new author to me.

This story hit home because I'm off-grid and plant greedy. Lol This book was interesting and captivating! I loved almost all of it! Great character development. Winding storyline. Great dialog. Well done!
Desperately needs editing. I'm ok with a few grammar mistakes, this is on a whole other level. The first 2 chapters alone are constantly changing tenses, dropping words and several paragraphs forgot how to form complete thoughts.
The characters are relatable and well put together. The storyline is strong. I wish there had been more development of the relationship between Colton and Bronson. It really needed a good editor to get to 5 stars. Lots of simple writing errors and typos.
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I devoured it in one sitting and I’m so glad I found this author, I can’t wait to dive into her books.
