The dynasty that rode high to the crest of power-only to reach the brink of a rebel-torn New Age. Prince Peter: the unbending heir to the tempest of change. Ilona: the heartstrong Princess, slave to a renegade passion. George: the roving American journalist, tied to the great family's fortunes. Tatiana: the wildest young beauty in a restless hour. Bound by pride , the Borodins must stand against the fated forces that threaten their priceless birthright and the dark-eyed monk who holds their monarch in thrall. I read this series ages ago when it was first released. For the time, it wasn't bad at all. Lots of intrigue and romance in Tsarist Russia, centered around a fictional family called the Borodins.

It was okay, nothing extraordinary but it was easy and entertaining to follow. The protagonist we got was interesting and that probably was what kept me wanting to continue the story.
I think something interesting and that I like is how all the characters aren’t good completely, I mean...I think the author wanted to show or at least I think so, that there’s no good or bad people, there’s only people and everyone has their sins and bad actions.
This is the first book of a series of six books and so far I’ll keep reading it, so second book here I come!

Who gets away and survives

Another great story by this author hence the 5 stars. Trusting people can be dangerous whether your a prince/princess or one off the crowd your being watched to make sure you comply with the rules of the Tsar and those who work for him. Who wins and who looses you will have read the book to find out

A marvelously compelling read

A love story on top of a history of Russia and life among the royal and powerful including some of the most famous of the early 20th century. Beautifully written with fully and deeply developed characters and a head spinning plot, it is impossible to put down. Very highly recommended.

Immorality or immortality

This was an exceptional love story with twists so that at times i even wondered if all the major characters would be killed off. But i leave it to you to enjoy the story of flawed but likeable characters, most of them anyways.

As a matter of policy, I always finish a book that I start. But this one? No.
I got 3 percent in but had no idea what was going on. No character development, no scenario setting, no knowledge of participants. Therefore, DNF. Book expunged from my Kindle.

Russian History

Interesting history story. Liked the mystery but hated the way it had to end. True love does not always be simple but must be brave to endure .
