See 24-osaline jõulujutustus võlub esile maagilise meeleolu igas vanuses jõuluarmastaja jaoks.
„Mesilaste ajaloo“ autor Maja Lunde ja auhinnatud illustraator Lisa Aisato on loonud unustamatu jutustuse, mis kulgeb läbi 24 peatüki.
Särav ja kohati kurb, pikitud pisukese müsteeriumiga, sisaldades palju lund ja üllatusi – see silmatorkav värviliste illustratsioonidega raamat võib olla kaaslaseks peatükk haaval jõule oodates, mille lugemisest saab tekkida pühadetraditsioon.

It's a dangerous game to read books that's been hyped up for months..
3.5 stars.

Have you ever read so many positive reviews, heard so many exciting opinions and literally had the book recommended to you more times that you can count, only to find out you don't love it?

I love the idea of this book. 24 chapters so you can read one each day of desember until Christmas, gorgeous illustrations on close to every page and an important theme - loosing someone you love at a young age. But the way it was executed, meaning the storyline, felt so overused. Especially around Christmas there are several movies, books and tv-shows with the same type of storyline, and I just really expected it to be different based on the hype.

10 year old Julian is usually looking forward to Christmas, which is also his birthday, but this year is nothing as it used to. No decorated Christmas tree, no lights, no smell of gingerbread or cocoa, and no crackles from the fireplace. You see, Julian and his family are suffering a major loss after older sister Juni died, and Julian believes christmas is simply canceled this year.
Then one day Julian meets Hedvig who fills him with hope that maybe there will be Christmas after all. But there is something mysterious about the house Hedvig lives in. Who is the strange old man who constantly pops up? And what is it Hedvig hides?

This book is originally written in Norwegian, but has already been sold to other countries. I would recommend it as a family Christmas read, and it's also a really great way to address "death" if children are curious and you don't know how to approached the subject.
And if you have children that loves to read this might be the perfect Christmas calendar.

No, Božić uvijek nekako dođe i prođe, prepreprebrzo.

Jedna lijepa, pomalo tužna priča o obiteljskoj ljubavi, gubitku, prijateljstvu i Božiću.

It is funny and perchance even a bit strangely and entertainingly ironic that for someone who generally always does seem to present in herself the tendency to rather easily become frightened with regard to creepy and uncanny Middle Grade children's stories and novels featuring ghosts and/or the unexplained (and actually, I should probably say that this pertains to literature in general and not just to works of fiction geared towards younger audiences), I certainly have been on somewhat of a roll so to speak during the past few months with picking, choosing books imbued with those kinds of storylines and thematics (even when, even if I was not in any manner specifically searching for ghost stories or novels that included uncanny, unexplainable occurrences). And yes indeed, with Maja Lunde's Snøsøsteren (which I read as a Kindle download in its German translation by Paul Berf titled Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte and whose title if rendered into English would roughly be The Snow Sister: A Christmas Story) while the German title certainly and very specifically does seem to indicate that this is first and foremost (primarily) a Christmastime tale (and it actually even is with regard to specifics of time of the year and place), there was, there is indeed once more a friendly and kind of sad and lonely ghost as one of the main featured characters (not in any manner freaky and frightfully uncanny, but I do have to wonder if I had known that Snøsøsteren is in and of itself both a Christmas and a ghost story and yes, also how sad and heart wrenching many of its themes of love, grief, of coming to terms with the recent death of a daughter/sister and how difficult adjusting to this state of events and facing a meant to be "joyful" time of the year such as Christmas is and can be for those left behind, would be, I am actually not altogether sure I would have chosen to download and read Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte).

However in retrospect (and after having now completed Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte) that would indeed have been both sad and very much a totally missed personal reading opportunity, as while there is definitely much realistic sadness and pain portrayed and featured in this novel, there is also oh so very much wisdom, gentleness and a heartfelt but never didactic authorial admonishment that even if a family is facing the grief of having lost a loved one (and in this case main protagonist Julian's older sister Juni), simply pushing that grief down and swallowing it will generally not have a very desirable and acceptable outcome.

A sweet, a painful but also a wonderful imaginative albeit always still quite imbued with reality and actuality little tale is Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte, with Lisa Aisato's accompanying illustrations providing a lovely but also never overpowering aesthetic mirror to and for Maja Lunde's (and also by extension translator Paul Berf's) presented narrative, their sweetly expressive and exquisite printed words. And although if truth be told, I do kind of find that ghost character Hedwig is perhaps sometimes a bit superimposed and tacked on for good measure, her presence in Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte has definitely also been a tenderly lovely, and perhaps even absolutely necessary addition (as she indeed is the one who inspires her newly found "friend" Julian to confront his family about the upcoming Christmas celebrations that seem to have been deliberately ignored by especially the mother and father because of sister Juni's death and that yes, the family as a unit also needs to talk about Juni, needs to look at pictures of Juni and realise and understand that even if Juni is now deceased, she is still and always will be a beloved and treasured member of the family and someone thus not ever to be ignored, even if remembering might be painful and tinged with sadness). Four shining and glowing stars for Die Schneeschwester: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte and in my humble opinion highly recommended to and for both young and old, but yes, you might well require some Kleenex (and with the necessary caveat that this novel only seems to at present appear in both Maja Lunde's original Norwegian and Paul Berf's German translation, and while I do hope that it might also be rendered into English in the hopefully not too distant future, at this time, no English language version of Maja Lunde's Snøsøsteren seems to exist).

A wszystko jeszcze przed nim.
