I spent the weekend with my friends who have four daughters, two of them are my Goddaughters and I read four of the books that the girls own, and let me just say fries and princesses bob up quite a number of times in their library - and this one has both and it a fairy princess.
It involves a wicked witch type character and acts of bravery to save the day, and is a part of a series, although it seemed as if it could be read stand alone, there was not much confusion about what was happening, which being it was written for younger readers is understandable.
Entertaining enough without being amazing, it seems that varies and princesses live on in the world of books.

Oh the desire to see the future getting the Diamond Princess in trouble! But also I love the expansion of magic in this universe! It was nice to see !!

If your child can read at this level it would be a good book. A fun beginning fantasy series. The plot lines are simple and easily solved with not too much of the dark side of fantasy.
