I always try to get books like this from the library first, because there seems to be a lot of overlap and I only need so many preserving recipes. That said, I knew from reading Angi's blog over the years that there would probably ideas in this book I'd never considered before--and I was correct. There are lots of recipes for using parts of the vegetable that often get overlooked (Asian-Style Pickled Broccoli Stems, for example) that help stretch the food budget a bit as well as being tasty. I will definitely be adding a copy to my collection at some point soon--fall is gardening season here in Florida, and it would be nice to have this on hand as a reference when the veggies start coming in.

Once you've been preserving a while, it can seem like there are no new preserving recipes out there...but this book surprised me! Not only does it give great basic how-tos on canning, dehydrating, fermenting, and freezing food, but it has some tips and recipes that are both refreshingly new AND safe. (Always use tested safe canning recipes.) I'm especially looking forward to trying dried asparagus crisps, beet and horseradish sauce, canned Asian-style broccoli stems, and canned spicey cauliflower with tumeric!

This is an interesting book on preserving vegetables.

This book breaks down how freezing, dehydrating, pickling, and fermenting preserve vegetables. The book is then broken down by vegetable so you can find ideas and recipes for each in one place. There's also information on herbs. The book shares best practices for different types of preserving each vegetable and then talks about how to do it.

It's fairly simple, but overall a nice find.

This book briefly goes over the different ways of preserving food before moving into a list of common items you might grow in your garden/yard or pick up at the farmer’s market and explains how to preserve each one in many different ways. While it’s not entirely comprehensive, I appreciate that the author touches on plenty of common vegetables while mixing canning, fermenting, dehydrating, and freezing methods for food preservation.

This book does a great job of guiding you through the planting and harvesting process with terrific tips to take care of any pest or mildew issues that may arise. Also balanced recommendations on how best to preserve be it canning, freezing, dehydrated or fermented. I did find several recipes I want to try, but the star of the show is the gardening parts.
