The quadrant is on the brink of all-out civil war, but almost nobody knows it.

Now that he knows a malevolent AI that calls itself the Machine has seized much of the ConFed's military apparatus and even controls the Grand Adjudicators themselves, Jason Burke must decide if he risks picking a fight with such an overmatched enemy, or if he runs to hide and fight another day.

Omega Force needs allies, and needs them quickly. After the unprovoked invasion of a neighboring superpower by the ConFed, Jason finds out that most of their military hadn't been destroyed but instead remains hidden while the ConFed continues to hunt them down. If he can find the missing fleets and convince them to join his fight, he just might be able to hit back at the Machine before it invades another sovereign nation.

"Rebellion" is the eleventh book in Joshua Dalzelle's #1 bestselling Omega Force Series and continues the story of Jason Burke and his crew of mercenaries and criminals.

Superb. Omega Force is at it again!!

Omega Force has long been one of my all-time favorite series. It has it all, action, humor, intrigue.
Please keep in mind Omega Force IS a series and this is book 11. You will not be able to pick up this book as a standalone. Please start at the beginning. May also want to consider Marine, an Omega Force spin off. The events in that book seem to take place between book 10 and 11.

Rebellion picks up right after book 10. Jason and crew are now fighting a rebellion that spans the quadrant. Earth is just starting to make mark, bit it's not quite there yet. I actually anticipate many good things coming out of Earth that will support Jason in future books. Alliances are forming. They will need all the help they can get as they face an ancient enemy that has already proven how diabolically evil it is. Omega Force didn't finish it off the first time they met this evil and now it will be harder than ever to defeat.

I always wait with anxious patience until the next book comes out. I was so excited to get an email this book was out!! I eagerly await the next installment!!

This series is starting to show it's wear.

I really liked the series and the fun, witty cast of characters the author has put in for us. It doesn't really pretend to be something it's not... A series about a ragtag unlikely group of fellows that go around attempting to right wrongs across the quadrant of the galaxy.

This story however things took a dramatic turn with a full blown war escalating between the remnants of the defeated Eshquarian empire and the Defiant's Cristal Cooperative group.

I've been reading the scout Fleet series too and I've been a fan of the authors since his black fleet days. He kind of disappointed with the big evil plan reveals then and he still does now. There are many reasons why I felt this book seemed just a bit too... Convenient at times, coupled with the fact that the OF crew never really seem to face any consequences for their actions. Things just sort of... Resolve themselves. This isn't to say I don't understand what these books are. It's sort of like superheroes in space, so the "stakes" we keep getting are pretty imagined. I just think that in 10 books, along with the sloppy separation conflict several books ago on Galvetor, we've never really seen much consequences for any of the crew. Lucky died but was resurrected basically in the same book. Crusher called it quits but immediately rejoined the group. Seriously? Nothing has changed over the years? Nobody got added?

The author seems to be running out of good ideas and is instead taking this to a galactic war level. While I'm sure it'll be entertaining things are starting to feel a little stale.

It is eternally frustrating that JD has not published an official reading order for the Omega Force/Terran Scout Fleet books. I started with The Marine unaware that it spoils events into book 9 of Omega Force, and I searched if they were in the same universe before I started but didn't see a link in my search.

Now I'm in this book and was just spoiled about a death in the TSF books. I presume it's The Marine, but who knows, there isn't a guide I can find.
When I complete both series I'll post a guide somewhere.

If JD is going to mingle events in different series, and I can't even learn they're related series' with multiple Google searches, this is very very poor planning.

The book is okay, but as with my previous reviews, the character development is erratic and frustrating that none of them follow common interactions as we know it...or that have been established in previous books.

In one hand I want the story to continue, on the other the poor character interactions and hand wave of the story arc timeline take me out of the story a lot.

If you hate poor editing, don't read this book

I have read all the Omega 3 books, and this one was slower moving with less substance than the others, but in general I do enjoy this series.

Although I tend to rate books on the content and not the editing, I would be remiss not to comment on the editing, or rather lack thereof, of this book. It includes incorrect words, missing words, extra words that don't relate, poor grammar, inaccurate punctuation, and anything else you can think of. In some cases, it is so bad that it's unclear what the author is even trying to say.

My rating is for the book's content. My rating for the editing would be one at best. I would strongly urge Mr. Dalzelle to hire an editor or at least proofread the book before it is released for publication if he wants to maintain his reader base.

In some ways, this addition to the series is an improvement. The stakes are high, the band is back together and there's plenty of action. In other ways, it's following a downward trend. The team explicitly murders security guards, Burke defers his necessary upgrade despite an obvious opportunity (he doesn't need to go on every little raid) and Lucky is growing distant from his friends.

I also think the "Machine" is underwhelming. We know that it can install itself in other systems, but it would be game-over if the author let that happen. Thus the antagonist is surrounded by unrealistic limits to reduce his threat to a manageable size. In fact, the Machine would be more of a threat if it was simply written as a synth... at least then it'd be mobile.

There's still plenty of foreshadowing to draw the reader farther into the series. So, for the moment, I'm still on board.

Hell Yeah! OF and Lucky!

I'll admit that I was really sad when Lucky "died." But now he's back and in good working order!

But the Machine is the freaky part bcz it is a corrupted piece of software that has been corrupted even more while working in the background (like real computer corrupted software!) trying to be subtle until it is ready to execute its plan for Totalitarian Dictatorship!

Anyway, I think this is an excellent way to broaden the Omega Force Universe that now includes Combat Unit 700 AND the United Earth Military to join in the craziness that is Jason, Crusher, Lucky, and the gang! It's gonna be a crazy and ludicrous ride!

All I want to know is... Where's the next book!?

Brute, macho, cheesy, over-the-top fun! I've been enjoying the heck out of this series, literally laughing out loud. I think it even tops the Vorkosigan Saga. It reminds me a bit of the game Bulletstorm, with it's crass, ludicrous humor.

I almost stopped during the first book, because it felt a little forced and too over the top, but I'm sooo glad I kept going. By the end of the second book I was fully hooked. (I think I started the first book about two weeks ago, and I just finished book 11 so...)

Paul Heitsch has also done an excellent job narrating, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next audiobooks release.

(This review is more for the whole series rather than this book in particular. If you haven't read any of them yet, start at the beginning.)

Well, ConFed took off to take over Eshquaria but got a rude awakening when the Eshquarians Imperial Navy, with the help of the Jason and his team and the Defiant, kicked their hinnies. Now, it's just a game of wait-n-see what the Machine's next move will be, the AI that wants to take over the entire galaxy.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 18 times.

As for the narration: Paul Heitsch is fabulous. With everyone's own distinct voice I can tell who's talking as soon they say their first word, when the character speaks. I like that!

Is all-out war coming?

Jason and the Omega Force are doing their best to come up with ways to both anticipate what the Machine is planning and what, if anything, they can do to help minimize the damage. But things are moving ever closer to an all-out war between the various factions who are clueless about the fact that they are being manipulated into the situation. Grim indeed. Kellea is mostly still ruled by her fury against Jason but she’s getting glimmers of details about what’s going on that forces her to consider that maybe Jason isn’t as evil as she thinks…

Omega Force Delight

The Omega Force series and the series with Jason Burke's son, brings me back to my youth when I read Tom Swift and his space adventures!!! They are great adventures that I can envision myself being apart of and brings me back to those days of daydreaming about them! I always wanted to be a space cadet! Although I realized early on that I was to big for my dream of spaceflight to be true, these adventures satisfies my dreams! Please keep them coming!

The end of the beginning

An interesting battle of an AI, the machine, an an intuitive human. The machine forges power with threats, spying, via listening devices. Jason, the human, bonds with his crew and is brutally honest with his friends, risking his life for them if required. The ensuing battle between the various factions brought many exciting and unpredictable results. Couldn't put it down. Kudos to Joshua for this great and wonderful series!!!!!

Love this series

I am breaking the rules a bit. Sorry Josh.
I have not done so much binge reading since I devoured the whole of A Song Of Ice And Fire to date. The consistent quality of story, plotlines, characterisation through the 11 books, so far, is amazing. I just love this work. The only downside is that there are only 3 books left in the series. Great fun and highly recommended, but start at book 1.

I use ratings to decide which books I am going to buy, and I recently decided I am partially responsible for inflating the ratings on books. Either they were 5 star or 1 star. I decided to use the star rating more objectively as follows:

★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will).
★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this.
★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad.
★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time?
★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.

This felt like the second book of a trilogy. There are a lot of transitional elements that don't get resolved. Setting that aside, the central story does have a complete beginning, middle and end. Can Omega Force outthink 'the Machine'? This story leaves most of the intrigue behind and gets back to swashbuckling fun.

Jason and Crashers are so f-ing annoying that it’s funny.
Giving this book a 4 out of 5 because at times I wanted to pop one in both Jason and Crasher my damn self.
Thank goodness for Doc, Kage, Twingo, Mox, Cas and Lucky/Seven!
You all had every right to slap the shit out of those two at times #LAWD

Another solid entry, but not a contained episode like earlier books. I do love these books and am fully on board, but the last couple of books are much more like volumes of one story. I genuinely hope that these books can be made into a tv show or a series of movies. They are very well suited for this sort of conversion.

Exciting from beginning to end

With more twists and turns than Gordian's knot, it's hard to put the book down even for a instant. It could have used a little more proofreading, but even so it deserves five stars. I highly recommend it!

More and more troubled for Omega Force

I really enjoy Dalzelle's storyline. This group of misfits get themselves in and out of the impossible. And the situations are just that; impossible!

Good Work

Love how the author tied this into scout fleet series, additionally it’s a well written piece that steadily builds each arc of the story and doesn’t make any wild leaps, and neatly trims off lines that don’t add to the story. Very well done, what’s next?

Coming back to an Omega Force book is like returning home after a long absence. You forget just how action-packed and fun the series is until you are thrust back into the mix with the messy crew of misfits. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest page-turner and can't wait for more!

The start of the rebellion

This was a good book that showed why the team feels it is necessary to start the rebellion. They grow as people based on their need to correct the issues of the quadrant,

Loved it

Read the whole series so far and it’s definitely one of my top ten of all time. So much fun. I love the characters, the storyline. You won’t be disappointed. And if you are? Eh. That’s your problem.

Omega Force Never Disappoints

The crew is all back and, as usual, plenty of action. OF11 seemed to be more of a bridge to the final book verses a stand-alone installment. Still good and book 12 is a must.

Very entertaining

The current story arc is becoming a huge cast with lots of moving parts. I hope it does bot get bogged down. However it is now becoming an epic space opera. Does that make Crusher Chewie?

Great series. The characters are amazing, the story captivating, and the surprises non stop. Too bad there is only two books left in the series!

great battles define the fight

Loved getting to see Omega Force get used as the hammer in the start of a war against the machine. Glad to see Kallera again and hope there will be a reconciliation between her and Jason in the future

11 Books

And we end with a cliffhanger. I didn't review the last two books because I am not a professional reviewer and I was busy reading.

Book 12 is when?
