"Similar to the most finely crafted fragrance, Perfume Girl is an unparalleled and heady blend of smoldering passion, powerful emotion, heart-stopping romance and cleverly plotted intrigue and suspense." - USA Today

True passion refuses to be contained, a sentiment I've always believed in. My world, however, crumbled into chaos. Divorced, abandoned by close friends, and with finances dwindling, the fragments of my once idyllic life lay scattered.

The proud owner of Perfume Girl, a charming boutique in a small town that houses scents from around the world, including my own personal creations. Crafting perfumes has been my lifelong passion, and my latest creation, years in the making, was meant to be my masterpiece—the one to make my mark on the industry and, quite possibly, save my life.

Yet, it's gone.

Stolen.

Faced with the devastating loss, I can't help but suspect someone close. Determined to reclaim what's rightfully mine, I embark on a journey to uncover the truth. The thief, I believe, is none other than Astor Beauregard, the alluring owner of House of Beauregard, a cologne empire in the vibrant city of South Beach, Miami.

In his luxurious realm, I'll delve into the heart of the mystery, a path that leads me directly to Astor. Little do I know, this pursuit will spark a passion that blazes hotter than the South Beach sun, unveiling not only stolen perfumes but also shocking truths.

On the sultry streets of South Beach, USA Today Bestselling Author Vanessa Fewings presents PERFUME GIRL, a pulse-quickening romance novel that will set hearts ablaze. In this standalone story, an intense romance unfolds, leaving readers breathless as the heat rises to reveal a stunning revelation.

PERFUME GIRL by Vanessa Fewing is a romantic suspense that you will not be able to put down! With an intricate suspense plot that centers around the high stakes world of designer perfumes and a hero that is rich, secretive, domineering and ultra-sexy, you will need to have a fan handy for this one.

Raquel Wren thought she had it all until she came home from her perfume shop early to find her husband in bed with someone else. Now with the divorce, she is about to lose her perfume shop, too unless she can sell her newest creation. Before she has the chance, it is stolen from her shop. What the thief does not realize is that it is not finished. The scent is missing the final ingredient to make it spectacular.

Astor Beauregard is the sexy, exotic head of The House of Beauregard, one of the premier, multi-million dollar perfume houses. Not only is he the owner with his sister, but he is an exceptionally talented perfume chemist. He loves his company, takes care of his family and lives his life in the fast-lane, guarding his heart and his mysterious past. When his sister presents him with a new perfume, he is intrigued and excited.

Raquel believes her formula was stolen by the House of Beauregard. She gets hired by Astor to work on a new scent for men. Raquel is out to find proof of the theft of her perfume and save Perfume Girl. Astor believes Raquel is a corporate thief, but he cannot stay away from her. Neither can completely trust the other, but they have an explosive passion between them that neither can control.

There is absolutely nothing NOT to love about this book. Raquel and Astor are interesting and intriguing from the moment they appear on the page. Both have overcome traumas throughout their lives and when they come together, WOW! Ms. Fewings writes sex scenes that are explicitly hot and sensual without any kink or BDSM. The suspense plot is intricately intertwined throughout the story in perfect balance to the romance with a twist that surprised me at the end.

This is a standalone romantic suspense that I highly recommend!

Perfume girl was a book that was exceptional in a way that many today are not. The main focus of the book and how the author dealt with it was unique, and although i had foreseen far into the start the end but still the suspense had me turning the pages to see how it would actually unfold.

description

The story starts out with a prologue where we meet our heroine Raquel and find about her past and soon of her future. The main plot of the story revolves around a formula for a perfume which is stolen from Raquel and her quest to find out who stole it and get it back.

description

This quest leads to her crossing paths with our hero Astor . To add some incentive to the story Raquel's mission leads her to Astor's company who despite believing shes a corporate spy they fall into a insta-love. As the story progresses and Raquel gets closer to finding and getting her perfume back we find about Astor's dark past , (completing his mystery guy reputation and aura) and how that connects with Raquel through a family dysfunction.

description

All in all a good story with enough twists and turns to keep you occupied. Recommended for a easy fun predictable read. And as i say predictable i will mention that the authors writing saves the book from becoming a clique.

Sex focus-1.5
Story focus-3.5
Emotional past focus-4
Writing-3
Character Development primary-3.5
Character Development secondary-3(out of 5)

(with Damien being the stereo typical ex)
I would like to point out that while I liked the way the divorce was handled in the start, with the author showing that a abrupt end to a relation doesn't mean the end of those feelings too BUT the relation (or lack of it) soured as the book progressed.

Average-3.5

The Review:
Perfume Girl is a supremely satisfying page-turner with high-stakes thrills, enticing suspense, and sharp, polished characters. Add in a generous dose of sensual, erotic romance and a gripping mystery that effortlessly ticks forward until the dazzling ending, and this is a definite MUST READ!

Story/Characters...
Raquel Wren has been passionate about flowers, the scents they produce and what happens when you combine their chemistry since she was a young girl. At the age of nine, her world changed forever when her obsession brought her near death. She lost everything that day but spent years building a new life she could be proud of.

At the age of thirty, she finds herself about to lose it all once more. With a cheating ex-husband trying to take what she’s worked her whole life for, her beloved little perfumery shop is on the line. But she has an ace up her sleeve - a new scent, years in the making, that’s sure to wow the perfume industry.

Except, she’s not the only one who knows of its existence.

After Raquel’s formula and uncompleted sample are stolen, she embarks on a mission to save her work, her store, and her dreams. Stepping into enemy territory, The House of Beauregard, a massive multi-million dollar industry, she never expected to find the refined Astor Beauregard so enigmatic. Now, she not only has to find a way to save her dreams but also her heart.

I loved Astor! He did control and demanding so well. I also enjoyed his playful, seductive side. He was a layered, lively character with very real emotions. The man he portrayed to the world was distant - almost untouchable, with a mysterious past. But underneath the hard exterior is a man who knows love, sacrifice, and compassion. He has a vulnerability that is endearing and quickly stole my heart. Not to mention, he gave me the all the swoons.

Raquel was lovely! She might have had a painful past and an uncertain present, but she was warm and spirited, even if a bit love-shy. It seemed things were spiraling downhill fast for her, but she stood strong, had faith in herself and knew what she needed to do. Her passion and courage were written so well.

This read didn’t move in the way I thought it was going to, and I absolutely LOVED that. Usually, I can predict where a story is headed within a few chapters. I thoroughly enjoyed the turns this book took. It kept me guessing and it was completely unpredictable. It’s been a long time since that’s happened and I felt all giddy at the unexpected. Also, the backdrop to this story was rich and prismatic. Every bit of that is due to the genius and creativity put into the story with flawless writing from the author.

And can we please talk about how steamy those bedroom scenes were? WOWZA! Astor and Raquel’s chemistry was molten hot! They seriously scorched the very air around them!

The Wrap Up:
Vanessa Fewings is my go-to author for epicurean plots, jaw-dropping adventures, bewitching characters and of course, unwavering sexy romance. Perfume Girl is at the top of my 2018 “Favorites” list! Loved this read so hard!

After a bitter divorce, Raquel Wren is ready to get her life back on track. She's a gifted chemist who's passion is into perfume making. On the day, she's about to present her latest scent, something unexpected happened.

Astor Beauregard a sexy, brooding, and a successful perfumer. He would do anything to protect his business and the people he cared for. He has some trust issue.

Their meeting wasn't planned, but when Astor met Raquel he was smitten by her beauty and intrigued by her intelligence. Raquel, on the other hand, was completely enamored by the sinfully gorgeous head of the House of Beauregard. They are so good together and their sexy times are HOT-OFF-THE-CHART! But is that enough for them to trust one another?

Venessa Fewing wrote a perfect mixture of love, romance, passion, suspense, and betrayal. The book is intoxicatingly good. The plot will keep you hooked to the story. It was well-written from beginning to end. Unputdownable! I totally enjoyed it. This is standalone and if you haven't read a book by this author, I highly recommend this one.

Vanessa Fewings writes with an elegance and sophistication that elevates her books to another level and Perfume Girl is no exception. The subject matter was fascinating but that alone was not what made the book so enjoyable. It was the variety from the insight into Cuba, rescuing sea life, especially turtles, and Caine as well as the trauma that Astor and Raquel had both suffered as children that made the book so interesting. It was sexy, hot and passionate and it is that passion that ultimately allowed two good people to come together against all odds. A wonderful book.

Recommendation appeared on USA Today’s Happy Ever After on November 27, 2018.

Vanessa Fewings’ masterful storytelling, intricate plotting and compelling characters transport the reader into the sumptuous and provocative world of a perfumer, and from the moment that I started reading Perfume Girl, I was absolutely captivated by everything about this sexy, deeply romantic and unique story.

Astor and Raquel’s relationship begins under auspicious circumstances that cause them to suspect and distrust each other, but they also have a potent chemistry that creates a powerful and unrelenting pull between them. They both want something from the other person, and they slowly, precariously and exquisitely engage in a mesmerizing dance of seduction and careful maneuvering.

Astor is the best sort of hero — deliciously naughty and a little wicked, but also compassionate and kind — and he finds his perfect match and partner with Raquel, who is determined, thoughtful, intelligent and beautiful. They are absolutely riveting together.

Similar to the most finely crafted fragrance, Perfume Girl is an unparalleled and heady blend of smoldering passion, powerful emotion, heart-stopping romance and cleverly plotted intrigue and suspense.

You know when you crack open the pages of a Vanessa Fewings story you are going to see sizzle off the page. Astor and Raquel do not disappoint as their story is unraveled before your eyes. At first, you may think this is a typical bait and switch where the heroine will win at the end of the day by turning the bad boy around.

Or does she?

Ms Fewings weaves the story of suspense mixed in with an unexpected story with characters resisting the pull. Both characters are wary of the other, unsure if they can fully trust the other. Astor and Raquel sense the secrets. Vanessa Fewings keeps the story with just enough twist to engage the reader to want to 'what happens next.' The secondary characters are just as intriguing as you wander through the story. Oh and the door closes - Oh my - Whew. Be prepared to fan yourself *ALOT* once Astor decided Raquel is what he wants.

It's hard to write a review without spoiling the story. Ms Fewings crafts the story with visuals and words you can just imagine the sights and sounds as Raquel tries to recover her lost formula. Will you take a chance and help her in the hunt? It is a perfect standalone to get lost in the ride. It has an outcome I didn't see coming...and enjoyed every turn of the page.

Recommend you BUY and read tonight! 5 out of 5 stars.

Total snooze fest!!

She is dumb and a doormat...
The work of a life time and she loses the bottle the 1st time right before a big meting, got robbed, didn't backup her work in a cloud or a hard drive, later a client found the "missing" perfume in the middle of others! Great Scientist! The way the Ex just stomp's all over her, rubbing the new woman in her face!!!

He comes up all alpha, with ravaging ideias and its lust at first sight...

They go around "fighting the lust" and it kill me with boredom...

let me just start this review by saying that this cover is AMAZING! I just love it to death and it is fitting for the story. Vanessa has done an amazing job at telling this story set in South Beach which is beautiful and full of wonderful beaches and shops.

This story had me on a roller coaster of a ride. I did not know what to feel at times because I started out feeling sad then I got mad then I was laughing at some of the antics Raquel did. Poor Raquel has lost it all except for one thing that is going to put her back on top of the world but then that is taken away from her and she will have to hunt down the thief. While hunting down this thief she meets Astor and he is a mystery of a man but there is something about him that attracts him to her. She has to get to know him better. But on her quest for the truth will she find out that Astor is really the enemy?

This is one roller coaster ride that was fun and exciting to read. So go ahead and pick this one up because you won't be disappointed!

I absolutely loved Perfume Girl. It was riveting and sexy and so interesting. I love when I can actually learn something from what I read, and when you take the time to read it, you'll see what I mean.

This is sort of an enemies to lovers story, if I had to label the trope, but it's truly more than that. We see these characters overcome trauma from their past and find the light in each other. Their chemistry is blinding, and from beginning to end, I was addicted. But that's what Vanessa's writing does to me, every single time.

5 alluring stars!

I loved this book! Could not put it down, I was so intrigued to see how this story would go & it did not disappoint. It was not your typical smut book. The story was well written & the twist in the ending was not what I predicted.

I actually shed some tears with it which is very unusual for me. Happy tears!! Loved the 2 characters & Astor Beauregard is not what you first think. He has many layers & is very intriguing.

Overall Ms Fewings you have not disappointed. I have received an ARC & this is my honest opinion. Keep up the fantastic work you do.

ARC received for an honest review

It has been a while since I have read a Vanessa Fewings novel, however I know was going to be reading a wonderful story.

Oh, how my heart hurt for Raquel. Betrayal after betrayal has left her teetering the edge, and you are just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Astor - well, he could have come across as a complete ar$e, but he didn't do that for me. Sure, he is arrogant, however right from the start I was able to see through that to the man.

Ms Fewings has woven an elegant tale that had me enthralled from the first word to the last.

There are a couple of secondary characters that OMG, I just wanted to throat punch them - you will know who they are when you read!

This is sort of an enemies to lovers story, but not really that either. It is hard to explain without giving too much away.

I really did enjoy Perfume Girl and the sensual story it tells.

I can't wait to see what Ms Fewings brings us next.

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Vanessa Fewings' writing pulled me in. I was instantly hooked. I freaking adored both Astor and Raquel. Astor is very swoony. He's intelligent, caring, protective, a philanthropist with a upbringing that strengthen him and somewhat broke him. His background was very interesting. Raquel is smart, witty. Even though she has been betrayed and knocked down, it doesn't get her down. She's determined and strong will when it comes to getting back what is important to her. Sometimes I felt that became too obsessive. Astor and Raquel made a perfect couple. She was able to go head to head with him, and he showed her what a supportive, loving boyfriend looked like.

There were a few questions/things that weren't answered or weren't clear. I wasn't sure if this happened or that. Regardless, Perfume Girl is a great enemies-to-lovers romance. It's well written and has really good insight on creating a perfume.

I loved everything about this book, the writing, the characters -so different in many ways but such a perfect match, the banter between them, the suspense when you will less expect, the insecurities and trust issues that made them so reliable and real, the sexy scenes that will melt your kindle and make you blush so many shades because the chemistry between these two is so hot and alive from the first moments when they met, all the hidden secrets and unwrapping them page by page will keep you on the edge and it's definitely an amazing book overall that you will want to read because even the perfume scents described in this book will make you dream about it.

Vanessa Fewings draws you in with her writing and characters but keeps you in the story with the plot and romance. You begin with a blast from the past to show why Raquel is who she is now. We see the pain and heartache she has and how it shapes her and guides her along the way. Her present isn’t beginning rosey either. Her ex is a douchecanoe and truly didn’t deserve her. Just saying. She is too kind, sweet and just more. So to have her going through what she is because of him is all kinds of wrong and you want to slap him upside the head.

Whereas Astor has a dark past that has him keeping his distance from woman. He doesn’t do relationships or love. He protected his family in the past and that defined his life. His childhood was rough and it created distance between him and his family. A distance that he doesn’t want but doesn’t know how to change. He is strong and compassionate but he doesn’t always comes off that way. I love his strength and kindness that he hides from so many. He is arrogant but only as a facade.

How do we get them together? Well Raquel is trying to find the truth and Astor is intrigued by her and hires her to work as a perfume creator. Her mind is one that he finds sexy and it is. He is fascinated by her and wants to learn who she is. Meanwhile she is reeling from her ex and all her life has become. Even through it all though she stands tall and this is something that Astor respects and admires. She doesn’t let it get her down. As they work together, Astor does help her make her ex a wee bit jealous. It’s so much fun to watch. The polo match scene was great. But we also see Raquel bring out Astor’s loving, caring and gentle side as well as his protective side.

The attraction and chemistry between these two is felt in every page and interaction these two have. We see them explore this and find out more about one another. Our plot comes to a head and we see Astor take the brunt of the pain but he and Raquel bounce back and it warms your heart to see. The intimacy between these two is explosive and sexy as are they together. They fit together and respect one another. I like that this is blended nicely in the story and not the main focus. We have a plot on top of the amazing romance involved. There is a story involved for these two characters that plays out and the romance is more a side effect of the story going on. it’s a sexy side effect but a side effect nonetheless.

Vanessa Fewings has truly written a sexy, attractive story that draws you in from the beginning and keeps you entranced to the very end. You will love the story, characters and get really engrossed in what is going on and will want to know how Astor’s sister came about what she did and why it fell into her hands and also how Astor will deal with it all. A romance that starts out on false pretenses and becomes more and just sucks you in.

Perfume Girl is an innovative gem of a story. It's beautifully paced and portrayed. The unravelling of the mystery is expertly crafted and the romance is profound.

Astor is a well known perfumer with a mysterious past. He is sinfully sexy and is not known for sticking to relationships on a long term basis. He comes across as being a player.

Raquel is the proud owner of Perfume Girl. She has been creating perfumes since she was a little girl and now, everything she has built and worked hard for comes crashing down.

Raquel is on the right track for achieving her dreams until she finds her husband cheating on her. A divorce follows and money is becoming scarce, threatening her business. The something special that she has been working hard to create could well be her salvation, but to add salt to her wounds, it goes missing along with her formulas. She doesn't have a clue about who could be the source of this cruelty until she has a chance encounter with a client. She takes matters into her hands and decides to confront the culprit, but things don't go as planned!

Upon meeting Raquel, Astor is initially dismissive until she makes a witty comment about a perfume which could suit him. His curiosity is piqued and he decides to humour her until he finds out what she is really up to. After all, he has been subjected to industrial espionage in the past! Although they are both suspicious of each other, they strike a bargain. As they get to know each other, feelings which are foreign to them start to surface. Will they achieve the true purpose of this liaison or are they in for a surprise?

The mystery gradually unfolds and secrets long buried start to surface. The romance between Astor and Raquel is real, but there are some harsh twists along the way. It's a compelling and romantic story which had me turning the pages to find out who is really behind this web of lies and deceit. I love the storyline and absolutely love Astor and Raquel. Despite the doubts and heartaches, the author delivers an exquisite conclusion.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Raquel is a woman on a mission . She has worked hard to build her small boutique and perfume is her passion and livelihood . It all start to crumble when she finds her husband cheating and someone lifts her new fragrance before official launch .
Astor Beauregard is a suave sexy man that has business on his mind. When he meets the lovely Raquel he can't help but offer her a position in his highly successful and valued company. The perfume business may smell sweet but can be a jungle. His family has been hold in high regard in the House of Beauregard ..a stellar fragrance company. He is intrigued with Raquel and her ideas. It soon becomes a passionate, mysterious ride with so many discoveries !!

Vanessa Fewings has done it again. I LOVED Perfume Girl. Astor and Raquel's story pulled me in right from the beginning. I loved to see how their relationship grew and how their feelings for one another kept growing stronger even as they tried to fight it. Raquel's most prized creation is stolen and she is determined to figure out who took it. In her quest to find out she started working at the House of Beauregard thinking that they were involved. What she didn't count on is sexy and oh so yummy Astor Beauregard. There is a passion and pull between them that neither one of them can deny. Secrets were revealed but together they overcame it and formed a beautiful partnership. I highly recommend this book....you won't be disappointed!

Astor ~ Owner of a renowned cologne empire, conceited and arrogant but sinfully sexy.

Raquel ~ Beautiful, talented chemist, betrayed by her cheating husband, recently divorced and trying to save her livelihood, her perfume business, a small boutique called Perfume Girl.

A stolen formula brings Raquel and Astor together in this exquisite story of betrayal, love, passion and survival.

Flawlessly written, the words flow beautifully from page to page, drawing you deep into this captivating story. One of my favourite reads this year! Highly recommended!

While I enjoyed this for the most part there were instances that threw me.

There was something that Raquel should have done numerous times and didn't. While she had her reasons, none of them made sense to me.

The 1st part of my spoiler made it hard for me to think of her as intelligent.
While I understand her reluctance to tell Astor in the beginning of her encounters with him, it became annoying later.

Her way of 'investigating' left a lot to be desired. She was NOT good at it.

The flow is pretty good, but on occasion slowed down. Mostly due to Raquel's character.

Astor I fell in love with.
He made the story for me.

All in all, it was a good story, but I needed more action. I needed That area was just left dangling and it annoyed me.

I will definitely explore this author more in the near future. The story was enough to get me interested in her work.
