I liked the John more than Evelyn. John was working hard and doing what he had to for his family. His job wasn’t one he liked completely but he did what he could for his people and make sure things weren’t worse than they could be. He was honest,loyal and true. He knew that many found him to be working both sides of the fence and prickly but he knew the truth and that was what mattered. He stayed true to himself and his family and Scotland. He treated those that worked for him well and wanted to better their lives. He treated them like family and those in his earldom area he was kind, fair and just to. He worked hard to keep them safe and well piad for their work.

Evelyn was snobby to me. She felt she was fighting injustices for those who worked. ONly she didn’t think that anyone who had a title could be anything but like her father-stingy and greedy. She painted this brush on John and was rather aloof towards him as she quietly worked against him. She put him and his family in danger for a cause. A good cause but the person behind it was shady to me. She didn’t open up to John but painted him based on what she had heard about him and even as she saw his different sides she kept justifiying her actions with her father’s actions and how John is in his day job.

There was attraction and John was more open to it than Evelyn. I loved how even after she cost him alot, he was there for her and protecting her. He went out to prove his innocence and hers as well. It was at this point that they acted on their attraction and we see Evelyn open up and learn to trust John. She sees who he really is and he forgives her. He is a good guy-misunderstood but good. He does what is right for the people no matter what. Heck every inch of the way, Evelyn did silly things-from the dress shop before they were married to putting his family in danger-John was always there and showing he was a good man. a honest and true man. At the beginning she ignored it but she did have doubts I’ll give her that only she justified her actions by thinking of her father and his actions not how John was. I loved seeing John proe her wrong and her have to keep justifying in her mind what she was doing. It got harder and harder for her to and you grew to be angry with her for her actions. They came from a good place but she used them as a shield of armour and to make her self seem better than those around her. She wasn’t. She wasn’t a bad person just misguided and skewed in her views of herself and others. John helps her to see herself and what is really going on and he humbles her.

The story was interesting and I loved watching John fall in love and prove himself to be a wonderful, caring man. The plot was entertaining and the romance was a slow burning one. Overall a good story. ...more

She is now bringing brought into her mom’s past world and it is a dangerous place to be. a new prime minister type person for this country has Grace on edge not knowing where she stands and what the coutnry is protecting.

We learn of the history more of this country and the princess is now taking a role in the book. She was once a friend of Grace’s mom but as events unfold you question her part in the past and future of what is to happen. She helps Grace out of some scrapes but also you can see the undertone of threat by the woman towards Grace. She is a very complex written character.

The man Grace once thought a threat is now an ally but she still is wary of him. Her friends are putting themsleves in some danger as well but they are also seeing Grace in more danger too. And Alexei love love love him. He is supportive of Grace but also good for her. He grounds her and helps her to think things through and not just go off without seeing what can happen and weighing the consequences. Iran seems to be their place to meet and chat about the happenings and where they feel safe it you can count a run down forbidden Embassy safe. Tensions are high with some of the countries and all that is going on with Grace and her fiends is not helping the situation. WE see all the tension in the air and that sometihing will occur but what keeps you on the edge of your seat as the book twists and turns you around and around wondering what is next.

We see good chracter building and plot building. More layers are added to the story that bring about more emotion and quesitons. There is romance brewing, danger occurring, betrayals happening but not really being realized and life is hectic and crazy. Our characters grow and mature but also become more complex and complete. Seeing Grace go against the grain again to find out more about herself and her past is fascinating as she navigates the danger and the romance brewing between her and Alexei while walking a fine line between all that is going on and surviving keeps you on your toes throughout the book.

The ending was just wow..I thought the first book ending crazy but this one brings more questions, danger and secrets...The biggest one is the one we know is what threatens Grace the question is what is it and who is her biggest ally and her biggest threat or is her ally a threat??? ...more

So I liked and didn’t like. There were areas I felt the book dragged and I really dind’t like Noelle. I felt that she was being really selfish in some ways about her telling Christian. Her justification to herself throughout the book did help to drag the story.

Christian changed from when Noelle knew him. He was no longer the party boy. He was responsible and a smart businessman. He took his role in business and his family seriously. It took alot for this to occur but it did. He was no longer the selfish arrogant man either. He now was cognizent of other’s feelings and how his decisions affected others. He listened more and he cared genuinely cared about his family and all around him. I loved how earnest he was to get to know his son..It went beyond the crown for him. He wanted to know the boy and be his father..Noelle had reservations and issues with this at first. She pushed Christian away alot and it was a wee bit irritating.

I didn’t like how Noelle handled Christian’s feelings and intentions with her at first. She caused alot of drama that wasn’t needed but for her it was because she got to begin to see the new Christian.

Noelle was a mama bear overprotecting her cub at first. She was also protecting her heart. She wasn’t a bad character perse but she like Christian didn’t always make the best choices in things. As she got to see Chrstian and who he really is now, you see her change towards him. You see the attraction and love blossom and bloom. You see how they could be a great couple and be there for one another. Christian’s grand gesture at the end stole my heart. He truly took his family, Noelle and her son’s feelings into consideration as well. He respected Noelle and her job and did what he knew would be best for them all. I think this is what really warmed Noelle even more to him. She was finally able to let go of the past and truly let love and him in her heart.

Overally the story was nice but at times dragged. I loved the interactions with CHristian and his son and how it was a easy road at first for them. He had to earn the boys trust, love and feeling that he felt safe with him and he worked hard to gain this as well. ...more
