After last volume's blissfulness, it's time to bring some darkness into the pirates' lives. An attack by some old foes leaves them scattered and vulnerable. Next volume is going to have some heavy lifting to do to fix up even a portion of all that's gone awry.
Fun and exciting.

Didn't really like the art that much on this one but the story was fun and engaging and it was nice to have some higher stakes after the previous volume. It looks like there was some trouble publishing the next volume and that it's not available digitally, which leaves me a bit confused about what I should do moving forward. Guess I'll just randomly own volume 9 of a series? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Plot felt a bit repetitive but it was nice to see the result and impact of the crews’ dates. And I’m glad that the crew finally realized how unprepared some of them were for their kind of sailing life! Only took 8 volumes for that realization...not any of their other brushes with death.
Ravens crew is rested and now have a new lead on their adversary when disaster strikes. A lack of wind keeps the crew stalled for days and tempers rise. Then an unexpected attack destroys their shop and separates the crew. What I loved so much about this volume is the realism of the female characters. The story never devolves into stereotypical representations of the women. Even when they are at their worst they have a level of respect for each other. They also are fragile and the ending of this volume shows a change in a relationship that will effect the loves of many
They changed the artist, and it looks lazy. Like a young artist doing fanart - the idea of the characters are clear, but the execution is sloppy at times. This impacted on my enjoyment of the plot, which was a little predictable? I'm hoping that this volume is a one-off and the standard is back for volume 9.
Raven and her crew's adventures continue in Vol. 8 of the Raven The Pirate Princess Princeless spinoff series. While date night was sweet for everyone, bad weather and angry mermaids wreck havoc on the crew, the ship, and their relationships.
Volume 8: VERY HIGH STRESS VOLUME. After date night, the ship is first becalmed and then sunk in a storm. Everyone survives, but they're stranded in small groups (and not always the most friendly groups). Raven herself may be dying. And her brother Crow may have finally picked up her trail. Like I said. VERY HIGH STRESS.
I still love this story and I really hope it gets continued. I think it's great. The dialogue is fantastic, the characters are so real and so relatable, and I am Invested in Ananda's plotline now (along with everyone else's). Highly recommended for teens and up.
After date night, they head out to find Raven's brother but get caught in doldrums. A dip in the ocean leads to a fight with mermaids. The women are then split up and have to deal with their relationships in less than ideal circumstances. So, if date night was "good times", these are the "bad times".
