4 out of 5.
This is pulp literature at it's finest, and a really fun time.
This book follows the continued adventures of Heike and now he runs into Vinga Tark, daughter of Vemund Tark, and their quest to get back ownership of the houses that the Ice People have owned for the last 20 novels.
A little problem, Heike looks like a demon and Vinga has less social skills than the average gacha gamer, like, she's not interacted with anyone except a goat for 2 years. Which of course leads to some very funny and very ridiculous situations and it is just golden.
I do think this book was a bit too slow in the beginning, and a bit too fast in the end, which drags it down, but this is a really readable little book and I couldn't help to just have a good time here.
Also, I really liked the kind of sibling (but not really, it was weird AF) relationship that Heike and Vinga had. It was the heart of the book.
Also, Menger was a legend. Love that bloke and I hope he'll be back in the next book somehow.
I do this with every book I read in 2026, and if this book was a song, it would be Coming Home by Hollywood Undead. Especially since that's what Heike does.
