This book is so good!!!!! I hadn't read a typical high school book in a while and when this book came along I was blown away. Starting with the characters to the plot and the writing everything was just amazing.

I loved Sonny. I saw so much of me in her. She had a unique voice and her utter loyalty to her friends was amazing.

Winston. My sarcastic baby. God! There better be someone for him in the next book. He's the kind of guy that made me smile the second he spoke. He was the voice of reason but he loved his friends. The friendship between Sonny and him is beautiful.

Kyle and Casey. Kysey?? Okay. So the ship has sailed and I'm taking over. Please do something about them. Casey is beautiful and strong and unique in so many ways that she doesn't even recognize it. Kyle is the amazing guy that I want for myself but also want with Casey so I'm torn.

Jacob. The prince. He is the guy that I personally think Sonny should have chosen. Dean nah!!!! The way he sees sonny, the way he flirts and everything. My heart just melted all over the place.

The other characters, buckets whose friendship i didn't see coming, Norah and her bitchy gang that I could run over with a truck though I liked Norah the best. Ari was such a pain in the ass that I wanted to kill her myself and Piper, despite her reasons was wrong. JC, the poor framed guy who deserved better girlfriend and a better school principal.

The plot is driven and curls around you like a warm cocoon and doesn't leave you until the end. It grips you and shock you. The plot turns, I didn't see them coming.

The best part about the book was how the friendship was described. It wasn't just two people who didn't have any other friend but a group of school friends who had known each other all their lives and acted like it.

Westcott High as a school is pretty shitty because I wouldn't want a school to be so tough for me that I forget what actually matters is the time I have. But the author painted it in the right colours for the reader to see the school as it was.

Another thing that I loved was that Sonny was a Violet and not a cobalt. Unlike the general storyline, it was interesting to hear it from a character you wasn't from a deprived section.

This book is a packed with the perfect amount of drama and mystery and romance and friendship. You should definitely pick ot up.

Book title – Westcott high.
Author- Sarah Mello.
Format – Paperback.
Page count – 379 pages.
Rating - 5 out 5 stars.

This book follows Sonny Carter, a student in Westcott high. Westcott high is a prestigious school where let’s say a pretty hefty competition goes around both academically and socially. Furthermore we have a differentiation of Violets and Cobalts where Violets are the rich folks and cobalts are a little less fortunate. And Sonny who is a Violet wants to just make a name for herself by being in the list of Westcott High’s Chosen Ten and finally let go of all the past drama but the road to that destination comes to a halt when a close old friend returns back and soon Sonny faces the dark secrets of the former events which can jeopardize a lot more than what she had anticipated.

Eventually everything Sonny thought she knew is revealed to be just a fabricated web of lies and prodigious conspiracies to tuck away the real motive.
Can Sonny along with her friends finally know the truth ? And who is the person responsible for this mess?

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. I loved how the author retained the suspense, never revealing any spoilers. The interaction between the characters was uber entertaining. The way how the entire story eventually unfolded and secrets got unveiled was utterly fantastic.

I was seriously having a difficult time in choosing my favorite male character, I really liked Jacob, Kyle, Dean, JC, Winston, Billy and of course Cliff(yes I loved him too) . Every one of them were amazing. This has not happenned before, trust me I always root for just one swoon-worthy love interest but here I was speechless as to whom to choose.

My favorite character was Sonny no doubt about that and Winston, his level of delivering sarcastic comments in a serious situation was topnotch. He would like say something incredibly funny and that would leave me in splits. I know for a fact that he and I would be great friends.

All I want to say is that I NEED THE SECOND BOOK ASAP. After reading that cliffhanger at the end….. I don’t know how am going to wait for the next book because that ending just deliciously upped the game to a whole new level and anyone who has read the book would definitely agree with me.

Also while we are on the subject, can someone make this a Netflix series with the same actors that the author showed us in her instagram page, I mean this will legitimately leave other popular teen shows to dust if ever opted for a tv series.

I will be rereading this because as soon as I finished reading the last line, I started to missing them. They aren’t just some fictional characters and this isn’t some random YA novel, Westcott high is an addicting page-turner with a perfect blend of romance, suspense and humor and a cast of impressive and amazing characters who will be like real friends throughout the journey.

Highly recommend everyone to read Westcott high. I promise you’ll enjoy every bit of this wonderful book.

First off I want to thank Sarah Mello @westcotthigh for sending me a copy of her novel in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great YA debut novel, made me feel like Degrassi High with all the drama and I adored it.

Westcott High is not your average high school, it's filled with love, hate, drama, darkness and friendship. Sarah Mello is such a talented author she really made the school come to life within each page. It did start off a bit slow for me, but once it picked up I couldn't stop reading, it was non stop drama.

I was not expecting the story to go this way and I am so excited for the sequel. If you enjoy YA high school drama, get this book asap !

It’s been a while since I read a YA novel that had such LIFE in its pages. I was fortunate enough to read the first chapter as a sneak peek several months back, and I literally counted down the days until the release. Every character is complex and detailed. The plot is intriguing, and the TWISTS! A POV that was different than most, but worked so so well for me was the fact that the main protagonist was part of the elite group, which is unheard of. The main character is typically an underdog. But not Sonny Carter. Let’s give her a crown now because the girl is a QUEEN. I seriously cannot wait to read more. Do yourself a favor and get this book!!!

Move over Riverdale....Sonny the SuperSleuth is on the scene.

Sonny and her best friends, Winston, Kyle and Casey attend exclusive Westcott High. The student body is firmly divided into two camps based on household income and residential zip code - the Violets and the Cobalts. There are all kinds of secrets at Westcott High, and the school is a playground of divided loyalties, fierce competition and queen bees.

All Sonny wants is to be judged for herself rather than painted for the scandalous behavior of her older sister. She wants to be one of the Chosen Ten and receive the justification that will guarantee her entry into the Ivy League school of her choice. But things at Westcott High are never simple, and nothing is what it seems.

Sonny was a likeable MC because of her loyalty to her friends, her Betty-like, Nancy Drewish determination, and her refusal to let school politics decide who to allow into her circle of friends.

If you are looking for a fast-paced contemporary YA read with snarky dialogue, a unique POV, and plot twists that will sideswipe you, this one is for you.

*Thank you to Sarah Mello for sending me this book and allowing me to write an honest review*

This was Sarah Mello’s debut YA novel and I LOVED it. This YA book had everything you could want: the juiciest of scandals, love triangles, incredible friendships, and so many secrets. I was hooked from the very first page. I loved all of the characters and thought Sarah did a really great job of bringing them to life (she literally did, check out her Instagram page @westcotthigh)!

One of my favorite things about this novel was the prelude paragraph Sarah Mello wrote at the beginning of each chapter. It gave the perfect amount of insight into each chapter and was written in such a captivating and poetic way. Every chapter was like a new episode in a TV show and I found myself playing the whole thing in my head (maybe a Netflix show in the future?). Plus, the ending left me wanting for more and so I can only hope that there is a second book in the works!

If you love YA novels that are just filled with drama, order this one. You won’t be disappointed!

I finished this book in 3 days because I couldn’t put it down and am desperately waiting for book two.

Plot twist after plot twist, great writing, relationship drama, funny characters (Winston + Sonny). I loved Sonny and Winston’s relationship and was so torn between Sonny and her own relationships.

This book also has its own Instagram account and posts the characters and scenes from different chapters. Having the characters in my head made it feel like a movie playing.

Oh, and you’ll never see the ending coming. I recommend this book for anyone who likes Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars. It’s definitely unique, but gave me those vibes. Loved loved loved.

Still can’t move on to my next book. I literally reread certain chapters every night. This book was just so so good. The characters were everything. The dialogue and how they were all so connected was very natural. I absolutely felt like I was watching a show and now I’m impatiently waiting for the next season. Something about this specific book and storyline made it unique to me- it stood out from the rest of the YA/high school specific plots. The Instagram page is LIFE- if you haven’t visited it, please do- immediately. I 1000% recommend this book and can’t WAIT to see the next step from this author!

Loved this new YA book by Sarah Mello! This book has it all: love triangles, a disturbing social hierarchy, twists and turns, and a memorable cast of characters. The cherry on top was the fantastic edgy dialogue. Can't wait for the second book!

Sonny Carter attends Wescott High, one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Sonny is up for the Wescott Award and is identified as part of the chosen ten, where winning means she gets an in to any Ivy League school of her choice. When Sonny starts her Junior year, she needs to decide if her friendships or if she wants to keep her spot on the chosen ten and securing her future. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣Do you ever read a book and instantly get transported back into your younger self? Wescott High was a quick read. As in, I started this book 2 days ago and refused to sleep when I had 150 pages left to read. Honestly, I loved how much this reminded me of books I read when I was younger. I can honestly compare this to the it girl series, maybe even (dare I say) Gossip Girl. I loved the drama, what can I say? ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
3.5/5. I had a VERY hard time rating this one. Low key might go back later and score this a 4. If you LOVE drama and YA this book is for you! ⁣

⁣Thank you so much to @wescotthigh for a review copy in exchange for an honest review. I can’t wait for book 2! ⁣

Where do I start with this book?! I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Instagram page for this book. Yes! It has it's own trailer and cast, such a novel idea. 😉 You can see the authors vision for characters come alive on the screen before you ever start reading! I loved the build up to release day. Check it out yourself on instagram: @westcotthigh
.
This book is a mixture of mystery, love triangles, drama, and all things high school. It has a very Pretty Little Liars meets Nancy Drew feeling to it.

The story is told through the main characters point of view, Sonny. I found her to be a little hypocritical at times, but I suppose she is a teenager with her reputation on the line.
It's written mostly in conversation, which is witty and filled with banter. This made getting to know the other characters a little harder, as there are quite a few to follow in the story, but it was entertaining.

The story was intriguing and I wanted to unravel the mystery. The surprise ending definitely leaves you with the feeling that this could easily become the next addictive series to follow, plenty more suspense and questions to be answered. It would make a great Netflix show. Overall a good read.
I'd recommend you give this a try if you love all the love triangles, mystery, and high school drama!

“Because some girls don't just fall down; some fall from grace.”

First let me thank Westcott High for gifting me a copy Westcott High. This gave me all the Pretty Little Liar feels. And I am literally trash for a good drama. You know that feeling you get after reading a synopsis and you start reading the book, and there is that feeling in the pit of your stomach that something is going to happen. There will be secrets that you are not ready for and your anxiety is on edge because...dramatic.

One thing that I loved was that the author created an Instagram for the book which had a live cast. Seeing her vision for the characters made reading the book very interesting. So a little bit about the book we follow Sonny the main character who attends Westcott High, deemed as one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Westcott High seems to have a world of its own, a world where you either fall in line as a Cobalt meaning you do not come from wealth and Violet meaning you are wealthy. Sonny is apart of the Chosen Ten, a academic competition that will give the winner admission to an Ivy League school of their choice. Sonny has tried to make a name for herself that did not revolve around the school scandal that involved her older sister. But when Sonny gathers her friends to help her investigate the secrets of Westcott High, they soon learn that sometimes its best for secrets to stay just that...secrets. Will she risk it all for a biscuit or will Sonny come out on top??

“Because every decision impacts everything that follows. Especially the wrong ones.”

Westcott High is a YA mystery/thriller with an ensemble cast in the vein of One of Us is Lying. It took me a couple of chapters to get into this story — there are a LOT of characters, and it’s a little tricky at first to keep all of their stories and motivations straight. Once I got into it, though, I ate up the chapters like candy! There are twisty mysteries, complex characters, and drama for days.

The book ends on a cliffhanger with several major mysteries unsolved, which is something that usually annoys me, but in this case it felt right. Westcott High is like a Netflix series in book form, and I can’t WAIT for the next season ... I mean, the next book!

The ingenious thing about Westcott High is that the experience isn’t confined to just the book. There’s also an Instagram account — @westcotthigh — with a whole load of mini video clips and photos featuring scenes from the book, plus some fun Q and As with the cast. I’ve been following the account for a while, but after I finished the book I scrolled all the way to the very first post and drank in the entire feed, experiencing it in a new light now that I know all the characters and their relationships better.

Many self-published books get a bad rap for being low-quality, but Sarah Mello refuses to skimp on anything — and in fact, she takes advantage of her creative freedom to make something REALLY FREAKING AWESOME!

DISCLAIMER: I received a free ebook copy from the author.

Love love love! This high school has more drama, more cheating and a crazy class system that will have you questioning what teenagers have to go through now compared to when we were in school!

Any younger sibling always fears having to follow in the not so great foot steps of an older sibling. Sonny knows that all too well do to her older sister Lana’s scandal and now she will do anything to distance herself from that. Good luck!

Then all sorts of craziness unravels Westcott. A beloved teacher practically vanished, a horrible new teacher took his place and a star wrestler was accused of cheating and kicked off the team. Can things get any worse? Ok, yea things could.

Sonny and her group of crazy friends- Winston, Kyle, Casey and Buckets have no idea what is in store for them!

All I have to say is read this book! I’m dying to read the next and find out what happens when the new kids come to school! Westcott will never be the same.

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. If you like YA teen drama, you will love this. Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, Gossip Girl, and One Tree Hill, all rolled into one. I could not stop reading this one. All the characters and their storylines are dramatic, surface level and so characteristically a teen drama show. A quick read and oh so captivating. Teen drama mixed with love triangles mixed with school cliques mixed with rich vs. poor mixed with mystery. The ending was completely unpredictable. Mello has a way of making her writing pull you in and not let go. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Even better, she has devoted an entire Instagram account to following the Westcott High characters! You can actually feel like you know the characters and relate to them. I cannot wait for more to come in this series!⁣⁣

Such a great YA debut novel! Please go check out indie author Sarah Mello’s @westcotthigh and enjoy. Sarah even casted a group of teenagers for our visualization of all the characters. This book gave me all the One Tree Hill/Degrassi vibes. It’s always nice to go back and feel nostalgic. The writing had me hooked! I felt like I was in the group with them. There are a lot of characters but once I got into it I was able to piece everyone to the live characters. They’re all complex and full of DRAMA . I can’t wait to see what the squad is up against in the sequel, WH2.

Did you like Pretty Little Liars? Did you like how they always found themselves in some sort of situation?? Well, you’ll love this read by Sarah Mello then.

So many characters, so much much going on that you will find your head spinning trying to just put it all together! It moves fast, reads fast and is full of question after question.

Sonny Carter is the main character here. You follow her in her daily life and meet her friends and life that is Wescott High. Relationship hookups and breakups, scandals, mysteries to solve, new kids... it’s all here.

I didn’t know much going into this book, but I love a good mystery. The book is well written, I enjoyed the characters and how the story read like a tv show. However, I never warmed up to the mystery and find the parts where the characters tried to scheme lackluster. Nothing felt high risk. I will be reading the second book for writing style alone!

Wow. I remember reading this for the first time and loving it. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down and eventually finished it the same day. It always had me yearning for the next chapter. I absolutely loved the plot and the characters as well. Def one my favorite ones! I was excited to reread it now, but couldn’t finish it so fast because of school and other things, but the fact that I reread it had no effect on the amount of wonder and curiosity I had when I first read it.

Sonny Carter was an amazing protagonist. I’m personally more into fantasy, but Sarah Mello created an incredible high school, and mystery story—enough to get me into mystery books. Definitely a great book if you want to get into mystery and if you want to get out of a reading slump (which this was a book that got me out of one). Overall, I loved it, and I can’t wait to get to book 2!

After the crazy events that have followed Sonny Carter because of her sister Lana Carter, Sonny is out to make a name for herself. Sonny is a student at Westcott High School. WH is a prestigious school where everything is a competition. The school is divided into two colors. The violets and the Cobalts. Voilets are the richer the two who reside in the hills. Cobalts are the less wealthy and reside in the valley. As a violet herself, Sonny wants to be chosen for WH's chosen ten. The Chosen ten are selected by the english teacher and they each have to present a piece of their choosing. Whether it's a song, a short film, or a paper. The person who wins gets to choose what Ivy league school to go to. When an old friend resurfaces, Sonny is faced with old secrets that dealth with the past baggage Sonny was was trying to get away from in the first place; those secrets can possibly destroy Sonny's opportunity and life more than she anticipates? Can Sonny and her friends uncover the truth?

I absolutely loved this book, this is Sarah Mello's debut novel, and she did an amazing job keeping me on my feet. She had me hooked from the first chapter. My two absolute favorite characters were definitely Sonny and Winston. I loved Winston's sarcasm. I really didn't care much for the other characters, most of them just pissed me off anyway lol. I'm really looking forward to the second book. Also you must check out WH instagram page created by Sarah Mello. She features real life people playing out chapters in the book. Not for nothing but like a lot of people have said, this book would make an amazing Netflix show. Riverdale who? Thank you to Sarah Mellow for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Alyssa and I both graduated over 20 years ago!! So it's been a while since we walked the halls of a high school, BUT Westcott High by Sarah Mello, gave me all the Glee vibes without the singing. (and without the slushies being tossed in people's faces)
I love these fun YA high school drama filled books and Westcott High has been on my radar for a very long time! When you attend the prestigious school Westcott High, it's a privilege and you either live among the privileged as a Violet, or you're somehow lucky enough to be graciously chosen to to attend as a Cobalt. This unofficial color coding system will define you at Westcott High, unless you quickly decide to live above and beyond it. 💙💜
Scandal, romance and drama are around every corner and it's not just the students being exposed! I adored Sonny the main character and rooted for her the whole time!
Thank you @westcotthigh for gifting us a copy of your book, I am extremely excited for Westcott High 2, which just published June 13!! I just checked and both books are free right now on Kindle Unlimited!🎉
Also I am LOVING all of the mini videos on the @westcotthigh page, seriously go check them out!!

Sonny is tired of living in her older sister’s scandalous shadow. She is going to make her own way being being one of Westcott High’s chosen ten, an elite group of talented young people. But things are changing at Westcott High. Her favorite teacher is fired and replaced by one who seems to loathe her. A friend returns from suspension claiming he’s been framed. Not to mention, someone is releasing scandalous videos and pictures of students. Sonny is determined to figure out what is really going on at WH.

I really enjoyed this one! I love me some entitled teen drama, but this one was so much more than that. You get conflict between students, there are two groups of students, the rich kids and the scholarship kids. There’s drama with the adults 👏🏻. Scandal, investigation, betrayal, oh my! Sorry. Had to.

I enjoyed the writing as well. Each chapter is titled and has a brief paragraph at the beginning and end explaining the title and how it may connect to what you’re about to read. This definitely gave me Gossip Girl vibes.

There are a lot of characters in this, but they are fun. Winston is my favorite, I actually highlighted some of his comebacks something I never do. My one complaint is that this books lacks diversity, which is kind of addressed, but I would have liked to see the narrative changes instead of played into.

I had a lot of fun with this book. Check it out if you love a YA thriller in the vein of Gossip Girl. Thank you to Sarah Mello for sending me a copy to review!

I had really been looking forward to reading this book but I was really let down. I know that all the other reviews are really greta, but I didn't want that to scare me away from writing mine. The book definitely reads like a tv show, which I believe is what the author wanted, so I got through it pretty fast. The main problem for me was definitely the lack of diversity in the characters. Though I may have enjoyed a character, there was no one I felt that I could identify with since they were all white. In the beginning I thought, well maybe I'm just assuming, but my suspicions were confirmed by viewing the book's instagram @westcotthigh. I think the storyline is interesting and I'd never read anything like that before, but I don't think I'd watch it as a tv show due to the lack of diversity (if that was changed then for sure). I don't think I will be reading the next book, but if something like this doesn't bother you then go ahead it's definitely an interesting read.

this book was an excellent debut that was definitely worth being the only thing i’ve completed on kindle unlimited.

sarah mello has a huge cast of characters that she knows very well. each character is extremely well developed and we’re shown all their hopes, fears, and desires. they are so well defined that i didn’t have a problem picking up where each character left off. it was very well done.

likewise, mello’s writing flows so smoothly and it’s also very natural and no description feels forced. as a writer, i can say that this isn’t always easy.

i enjoyed the mystery, but i wanted a little more to be at stake. i think that the next book will pick up on this and i will be ALL IN.

i definitely enjoyed this book and hope you all give it a chance and get it either via kindle unlimited, kindle, or amazon. it definitely deserves it.

ps. the instagram has pictures and videos of the whole group of characters, which i thought was super cool!

That. Ending!!

The the characters weren’t perfect and I loved it. I liked that Mello made it a point to highlight that despite their appearances they were all deeply flawed with complex motives and backstories.

I flew through this book! I swear I just opened it back up and before I knew it there was only 20 minutes left!

Not a huge fan of the love triangle(s) happening but that’s just personally preference. Still a great story overall it gave me all the Nancy Drew and Gossip Girl vibes
