Mr. Wright has everything. All that’s left to give him is what he deserves. Lark has good things a career as a board-game designer and a whirlwind romance with a handsome investor. Trip is so compassionate and supportive, he’s almost too good to be true. Jessica has always been cautious, but she can’t resist Jonathan. The brilliant TED-talking visionary has big plans for his inspiring medical start-up. Now Jessica is invited to be part of the team―and to partner with the founder outside the office. Holly has settled into a comfortable life with Jack, her husband of nearly twenty years. They’ve raised three children, they own a beautiful home, and they’ve founded a worthy charity. She’s proud of building a marriage that has endured―she just doesn’t want to look too closely at the cracks. Lark, Jessica, and Holly are three strangers with so much in common it hurts. Their one and only is one and the same. The charming Mr. Wright’s serial lies are about to catch up with him…
But, he manages to convince three, different women that he is.
AT THE SAME TIME.
And, these are savvy, successful, smart women...except when it comes to love. ❤️
Told from the alternating perspectives of the three likable women, Holly, Lark and Jessica (from Gilbert, AZ where I live! First time I have seen that in a book! 😀)
Each chapter ends with advice from a “TED TALK” -which is an organization which shares “ideas worth spreading” by video, in 18 engaging minutes.
This TED TALK is from the famous “Mr Jonathan Mitchell Wright”, himself.
How will that play into this book? I was intrigued to find out.
From the synopsis: “ Mr. Wright has everything. All that’s left to give him, is what he deserves”.
My last thriller had my head spinning like a scene from “The Exorcist” and I needed a change of pace!
This juicy tale of revenge fit the bill, perfectly!
Thank You to Lake Union Publishing for my gifted copy.
The name is Jonathan....Jonathan Wright...Ohhh when Mr. Wright turns out to be oh so wrong! I loved the title of this book, the underlying play on words......however this was a really, really slow burn of a book.
Johnathan Wright has it all...power, money, good looks...a wife....or so...I am not sure how on earth he had time for everything he was doing. When on earth did this guy sleep?!
I really wanted to love this book, yet it was hard to connect with the characters. You have three girls that were nice enough but yet we didn't really get much character development. I really didn't care who was getting cheated on....
However, I have had some friends that really enjoyed this one, so maybe it is a "me" thing. Whatever the case, Mr. Wright was not the right match for me!
Thank you to Lake Union publishing for a gifted copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Three Mrs. Wrights is sort of like watching John Hughes movies in the eighties...not much depth, certainly not innovative, but so much damn fun.
I really enjoyed reading how Jack/Jon/Trip manipulated and lied his way into three separate relationships with three very different women. Although the story was told primarily through the three women's narratives, the reader still gets a good sense of the very repugnant (but charismatic and charming) Jonathan Mitchell Wright III.
I appreciated that Holly, Jessica, and Lark never felt like victims, as they were portrayed as strong, intelligent, and dignified women. The story offered a sense of empowerment to those of us with two X chromosomes. The conclusion was incredibly satisfying.
I'd recommend this one!
Available September 29th.
**My sincere thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for my review copy.
This is the story of a despicable man named Jonathan, or Jack, or Trip. He’s married to Holly. They have children. He’s also dating Jessica, a doctor who relocates to Chicago to work at his company. He’s also dating Lark, a creator of a science game that he invests in. Told mainly from the POVs of the three women, it’s clear that Mr. Wright and his terrible ways may finally be revealed to all.
This is an entertaining read, but really doesn’t pick up steam until the two-thirds of the way through. I felt fine walking away from it without the anticipation that I needed to rush back to see what happens. On the plus, the last 20% is pretty badass as everything (everyone?) ties together. The dialogue is a bit cheesy at times, but otherwise it’s a smooth read. There are higher ratings out there, so everyone should feel free to make their own assessment.
Thank you to Linda Keir (a pen name for two writers), Lake Union Publishing, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lark Robinson, is a board-gamer designer, and she meets Trip Mitchell in a bar. He’s not like any of the other guys she’s dated, he’s older and a financial advisor. He helps her start her own business called Larkspur productions, and before she knows what’s hit her, she’s sitting in her own office and interviewing potential employees.
Jessica Meyers is a doctor, she been dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer, and she meets Doctor Jonathon Wright. Jessica moves across the country, sharing an apartment with Jonathon and is working as a member of the medical research team at Cancura. Jonathon is divorcing his wife Holly, he has three children Ava, Paige and Logan and she understands his children are his number one priority.
Holly is married to Doctor Jack Wright, they own a beautiful home, they have three children, she works part-time as a pediatrician, and together they have funded a charity for abused and neglected horses. Jack has been unfaithful in the past, Holly has always forgiven him, and she senses he's lying to her again?
The Three Mrs. Wrights by Linda Keir, is a story about Lark, Jessica and Holly all being conned by the same man, he's living a triple life, busy juggling three women, lying to all of them, nothing worse than a woman scorned and times that by three. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, a quick entertaining read and three stars from me.
Why a man would want more than one wife is beyond me! It can’t be easy to juggle the demands of multiple lives, not to mention trying to keep track of all the lies. And how do you keep from mixing up their names? Especially at intimate moments, lol. But Mr. Wright is a smooth talker and seems to be able to do it with ease….but for how long?
Listening to this audiobook was like watching a trainwreck in slow motion. You know it’s coming, it can’t be stopped and you’re just waiting to see how bad it is!
There wasn’t a dull moment in this impressive tale by an author I’ve never read before. It’s a must-read and I’m excited to see what she comes out with next!
My Rating: 4.5 ⭐️’s (rounding up) Published: Sept 2020 by Brilliance Publishing Audio: 10 hours 8 minutes Recommend: YES!
Trip, Jonathan, Jack...which one was he? He had a different name for each woman he was seducing.
How did he keep his names and his stories straight about who he was?
Hopefully he will slip up one day.
One slip came out when Johnathan's wife, Holly, had a friend tell her that her husband saw Jonathan on a flight to Los Angeles. Really? He said he was going to San Francisco.
We follow Trip, Jonathan, and Jack as he sets up three women and uses them for his advantage and for helping him increase his wealth.
None of the three even has a clue about what he’s been doing for the past 20 some years.
What a liar and a con man he was. He had an answer for every question and situation that came up when the women asked him where he was and why something happened.
I did enjoy the basic premise and was hoping they would find out about Trip, Jonathan, and Jack, but all the background and details about each of his business adventures made the book drag for me.
The first quarter of the book was not interesting at all. I about gave up until something happened that peaked my interest, but the book still wasn’t pull you in until the last quarter. The last quarter was excellent.
I had to keep going to see what happened so I guess it did pull me in at some point. :) 3/5
This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this soapy, fun book! Narrated by three women, all wives/fiancees/girlfriends of Jonathan Wright, each one has a unique voice and piece of the puzzle. I found this entire book to be fast-paced and entertaining. I wholly disliked Jon Wright and all of his manifestations and kept reading to make sure that he got what was coming to him, and I was not disappointed. If you're in the mood for a revenge story with great characters and a plot to keep you engaged, look no further and choose this novel.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an egalley in exchange for an honest review.
A contemporary domestic in which three women are conned by one very slick con man. But how long before they find out what's going on and about each other? Although there were not a lot of surprises in this novel, I really enjoyed the narration of Lark, Holly, and Jessica and it was for them that I had to see justice done.
Goodreads review published 14/08/20 Expected publication date 29/09/20
This is fine, if you are looking for a quick and easy read. Less interesting until things start to unravel and come together. But once it does, it is quite the sizzling mess. Would probably make a good short movie, like a made for TV sort of thing.
Song/s the book brought to mind: Who's Cheatin' Who by Alan Jackson
Mr. Wright has quite the life, he is rich and successful, and he also has... three partners? Lark, Jessica, and Holly all have different versions of Mr. Wright and he is known by a different name to each of them. The Three Mrs. Wrights by Linda Keir is like a soap opera, and I loved the fact that it was narrated by all three of the ladies this guy is with. It was a little like a train wreck and he was able to get away with so much that it blew my mind a little bit. I thought the pacing was fantastic considering not too much was actually happening, and it was interesting seeing how each woman fit into the story. I especially enjoyed when their stories intertwined and even though Holly is the true Mrs. Wright, I couldn't help but feeling sorry for ALL of them.
It was a pleasant surprise to find out Linda Keir is actually a writing duo made up of Linda Joffe Hull and Keir Graff. The story was so seamless that I literally thought it was one author until I got to the acknowledgements page. I was able to get the audio via Kindle Unlimited, so I decided to do that while following along in my eBook and I'm pretty happy I went that route. Teri Schnaubelt narrated the whole thing and I really liked her voice and the way she did it. I hadn't realized she has narrated so many books, and I will definitely be looking for others she has done. She made the perfect Lark/Jessica/Holly, and even though I like when there are different people for different viewpoints I loved Schnaubelt doing all of them in The Three Mrs. Wrights.
It doesn't dig too deep, but if you are just looking for an escape or something fun to read, I would recommend The Three Mrs. Wrights. Especially if you like soapy, domestic dramas. Mr. Wright was a hideous man, but I loved the women and the end felt satisfying. The book was very engaging and even though I wish there may have been a bit more to it, overall it was a super fun read that kept me going, and I will definitely be looking into more by this author duo!
Thank you to the publisher for my advance review copy via NetGalley. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Holly, Lark and Jessica, three smart and savvy women have found their Mr. (w)Right. He’s charming, handsome, loving, rich, and wildly successful. Unfortunately, he’s also the same man.
This is an engrossing read, each chapter is narrated from the perspective of the three women. I felt such tension and anxiety just waiting for this smooth scoundrel to slip up. I was whipping through the pages to see how this drama filled story would end and I was very satisfied with how it all played out. Just a highly entertaining soapy read.
This was twisty and unlike anything I’ve ever read! I actually finished it a few days ago but forgot to write a review. I loved the characters and Jack or whatever he’s called. Definitely a must read for those who enjoy twist psychological thrillers!
📚 Hello Book Friends! THE THREE MRS. WRIGHTS by Linda Keir was a great read. This is the story of Trip… no Jon… no Jack… no Jonathan…. Really?!?! Well, all these names are his depending on who you are. So, this is the story of a man with many names who is a highly successful and rich businessman and who loves women. To tell you more would reveal too much about the plot. But let us just say that he is involved with more than just one woman. Lies, deception, and an exceptionally busy calendar fill the life of Dr. Jonathan Mitchell Wright. One man + three women = big troubles. . This is a great and very entertaining read. My only disappointment with the book was that the authors do not explain why Mr. Wright is the way he is. What caused him to be unfaithful and wanting more than one woman in his life. Why was he so delusional? The ending was well done but a bit too happy ever after for Mr. Wright in my opinion.
🙋🏼♀️ Thank you, AMAZON PUBLISHING for sending me an eARC of this remarkable book. THE THREE MRS. WRIGHTS by Linda Keir will be available at your favourite bookstore on September 29th.
In this case three Mrs. Wrights do make a Mr. Wrong. Holly is married to Jack, Jessica is married to Jon and Lark is engaged to Trip. Unfortunately they are all the same person, Jonathan Mitchell Wright, III. Jonathan runs a company called Cancura. His company is developing a chewable table with nanotechnology that will detect cancers in children before they are sick. He has been married to Holly for 20 years and they have three children but she has suspected him to be unfaithful over the years and then she starts connecting the dots. The story is told from the point of view of each of the women. I liked them all. They were strong and independent and when confronted with the truth they fought back and that was the most delicious part of the whole story. The first 2/3 sets up the ground work for the end which was a fun ride. This isn't your typical thriller, no gunfights or blood, but exciting none the less. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would read more by this author.
Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union for providing me a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
Thank You to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this ARC!!
Lark, Jessica, and Holly. Three smart, capable and beautiful women. They are the perfect strangers with so much in common that it hurts.
The charming Mr. Wright’s serial lies are about to catch up with him…..
This was an unique story!! Mr Wright highly underestimates the smartness of the three women he tries to take advantage of, to lead to his downfall and become Mr Wrong. I liked the way the book was written in alternating chapters to show each of the woman's perspectives.
This wasn’t a typical mystery book but it had enough suspense to keep me hooked on and a satisfying ending.
Basically, you've got a wealthy man cheating on not only his wife, but also his two other secret wives and possibly his business too.
Highly readable with short chapters from each woman's point of view and little snippets from the guy in question. Nothing too cliche, but nothing super unique either. Each relationship had multiple red flags, but each woman ignored them.
This book started off well and ended brilliantly, but the middle section dragged and needed a little more suspense to keep me engaged. The characters were good, and I sympathised with all of them in their respective situations. Mr Wright was a fantastic character, multi layered and complicated. I could totally see this being made into a film!
Reading this book was like knowing an awful accident is about to happen, but you can't look away. It was fascinating. How someone so self-centered, who thinks that he can get away with everything, doesn't see his lies mixed up like this... I had fun!
Many thanks to Lake Union Publishing for the complimentary e-copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was obsessed. Consumed! I couldn't stop listening. I basically listened while driving, walking, cooking, folding laundry and doing all my chores. My family got so tired of me ignoring them. Bahaha!
This reminded me of the movie The Other Woman, which is a favorite.
It's a fascinating read just to see how this smug asshole keeps all the balls in the air! Highly recommend.
Omg wow 😂😂😂 This was such a drama filled book, and I enjoyed most of it so damn much. It's a slow burn, and it doesn't have a lot of thrill or mind racing elements that makes it a "thriller". It's more of a domestic suspense, filled with humor, deceit, payback, and DRAMA.
Jonathan/Jack/Trip is a horrible horrible man, damn. He's so deceptive and manipulative and such a gaslighter. He's a liar and a criminal and he played these women so damn hard.
I absolutely love that the story was told from the povs of each of the three women, so we got to see and experience what their relationships with him are like, and what he's like with them.
We start with Lark, he's new girlfriend, and with her he's Trip. She's about to sell off her game when they meet, but he convinces her to start a company instead, and finances it for her. She's totally enamored and ignores red flags as pointed out by her best friend.
Next is Jessica, who's a long term girlfriend and doctor who he convinced to leave her fellowship and start a new career at his company, Cancura. He tells Jessica that he's separated from his wife and that his wife is unhinged and yet to come to terms with their impending divorce. To Jessica, he's Jon/Jonathan.
His wife and the third POV we're introduced to is Holly. They've been married for 20 years and they have 3 kids. She refers to him as Jack, the name he prefers to go by at home / with family and friends. His treatment of Holly absolutely broke my heart because she knows that he's a serial cheat but stays because of her kids.
The three women are absolutely amazing characters, and I loved how everything played out in this book. That ending... chef's kiss!
2.5 stars rounded up, I mentioned in my progress update that I was in this for the revenge factor. It was a decent, soapy domestic drama, and the revenge was great. It was waaaay too long. I listened to it at 1.5x speed and I still kept hitting the 30 sec skip throughout the last half, there's no way it should've taken more then 5 hours to tell that 10.5hrs story!! and for the finale to be about 8 minutes from the end left me annoyed. It was a good, but not that unique of a story. The revenge was good so I'd say 2 and a half rounded up is all my revenge starved self can give. I know I sound like I might be bitter or mean and mad, I'm not I promise. Hehe.. I think I like revenge plots because I have an ugly duckling style story and a reverse ugly duckling ( was physically, what society sees as not attractive growing up, I then 'blossomed' (ewwww) and became 'pretty',then in later years I became pretty much obese and eventually lost the weight. This left me loving 'surprise, stick it to shallow people that suck situations'. Maybe a little too much:)) Even if it requires a lot of suspension of belief on my part, it's my version of a Lifetime movie addiction.:)
Very interesting that the writers are a team of man and woman, not married (that I can tell). In this book the man only speaks at the end. It was very easy to tell which woman was speaking since chapter headers went by name and the "husband" was known by a different name to each of them.
The one big plot problem I had?
If "bi" means two, then wouldn't three wives="trigamy"?
3.5 This book was intriguing, but way too long. If this had been wrapped up in less pages, I think it could have been a decent thriller. This book is about a man who has three wives - but the wives don't know about each other. This guy was playing three women, and getting away with it! I loved seeing into how he juggled all the women (although it was a bit far fetched), and how he got busted for it. I do think the book was way too long and the ending wrapped up too quickly compared to the length of the book. Hear more of my thoughts in this reading vlog: https://youtu.be/21TcWmw5KuM
My first time reading this author and I loved this story. Let me begin by saying my least favorite plot device is adultery and this book is full of it as well as bigamy, fraud, lying, gaslighting and Mr. Wright is guilty of it all. I really wanted to see him suffer for his crimes and I felt so much empathy for each of these women. Usually society wants to blame the other woman for getting involved with a married man, but this story clearly shows how the heart can be deceived, especially when the man is presenting himself to be someone other than who he really is. This guy is a real piece of work, even going so far as using a different name, lying about already being divorced and slandering his first wife Holly by depicting her as mentally unstable.
This story flowed so well with the chapters rotating points of view between Lark, Jessica and Holly. I paired the reading of this book with the audiobook narrated by Teri Schnaubelt, which was also exceptional. Her performance brought the characters to life and drew me more fully into the story. I had no idea what to expect or what the outcome would be after my initial thought before starting was that these women discover the truth at Mr. Wright’s funeral, but death would have been too easy and he needed to suffer so much more for his actions. I honestly can’t understand how he managed to juggle three different women at the same time while keeping all of his lies and stories straight. I am looking forward to reading more of Linda Keir’s work.
My Final Verdict: Overall, this story kept me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of how these women would be vindicated and I wasn’t disappointed, though I really wanted to take a baseball bat to his kneecaps myself! I highly recommend this story to fans of women fiction as well as stories where the karma bus delivers justice in the most well played out way.
Thank you to the publisher, Lake Union Publishing, who provided an advance reader copy of this book via NetGalley.
I started reading last night and read straight through until 3:21 am to finish...
This is the story of a man who just isn't satisfied with what he has, no matter what that is.
A perfect home, a prefect family, a successful medical start up, a fortune
He wants more he's much like a serial killer; escalating and pushing the envelope He has a wife, a fiancee and a girlfriend. He lies as easily as others change their socks.
He's a scum bag but a dream come true - too good to be true scum bag. And the three women who he fools, manipulates and cons.
Every one of these women is smart, talented and self reliant yet he is using them
Mostly fast-paced with mostly smart women. Of course even well educated brainy women tend to be dumb when it comes to love and these ladies are no exception. (Why these ladies never did research on their own about Mr. Wright is a bit unbelievable, but that's how they were written.) Trip/Jon/Jack is super unlikable, completely full of bs and might remind you of some lesser men you've known. Short chapters showing the individual views of each "Mrs. Wright" keep this story moving along nicely. Character names are used in chapter titles which makes it easy to differentiate between these women. There is a lot of info sometimes, especially with Jessica's job, which feels like filler to me. It gets exciting the last third of the book and the ending is pretty okay if you take this as a domestic fiction and not as a thriller.
