So I actually read this volume last year and apparently forgot to write a review. This is basically where the second season of the anime starts. As opposed to the rest of the manga, this one is a bit weirder in that suddenly the reader is confronted by sentient creatures who have a life much like a normal village, except for the whole value thing. We are also introduced to Faputa, who becomes very important as time goes on.
All in all, I liked this volume. The art is amazing, as always, and the world building is quite extensive. Tsukushi is a master of world building, and each volume of the manga shows this. Things are also presented in some pretty stark manners, which I appreciate. The more and more I delve into the series, the more, as a writer, I admire what is happening in the story and world.
The Balancing that happens presents an interesting element into the story, and adds to the mystery of this village. These Hollows are not like the ones we've met thus far, and seem almost too 'people-like', so it creates a natural mystery to get the reader engaged.
We also see Reg and Nanachi head off on their own to explore, which leads to some sticky situations.
All in all, I really enjoyed this volume. I admit, the village threw me off at first. It felt like it was breaking the feel of the abyss from everything we had learned up to this point, but in the end it all gets explained in such a way as to work withing the established story/world.
HIghly recommend it.
