Who’s afraid of spiders? NOT SAM WU! In this fourth book in the hilarious series, Sam must conquer his fears and help save the school pet tarantula.
Sam Wu is NOT afraid of anything. Well, maybe some things—like ghosts, sharks . . . and the dark's pretty scary, too. And now he has something new to worry about: Tulip, the big, hairy pet tarantula that lives in the sixth-grade science lab and is coming to visit his class. But Sam can’t let anyone know. So when Tulip disappears from her cage, Sam decides it's up to him and his friends to step up, save the school from the eight-legged escapee . . . and prove, once again, that he’s no scaredy cat!
Just as the rest of this series, this was fun and full of charm! What would you do if a giant tarantula went missing in school? I wouldn’t be as brave as Sam!
A brilliant addition to the Sam Wu is not afraid series. I loved the plot for this book and the little call backs to last books were the sorts of things my class would love pointing out. As always Sam is a loveable hero whose internal monologue adds real humour to the story.
The presence of pictures throughout and explanations for unfamiliar vocabulary make the book easily accessible for younger readers. In addition I love the way Chinese culture is woven throughout giving you a real sense of Sam’s heritage and background even with the setting being familiar for western readers.
Sam Wu is engaging and funny. He is an every kid" to whom his peers will relate ... which goes for his "nemesis" Ralph, too. The author does a great job showing readers that bullies are bullies because of their own fears. Keep reading to get the full review.
Halfway through the book I got really scared by the tarantula but I think the bully has the longest name on earth. This was the first Sam Wu book that I’ve read, and I really think that I should read more of them. I liked it and I hope you guys like them.
The sixth graders has a spider named Tulip and it went missing so Sam wu and his friends and his sister will help to find Tulip but the first plan did not work but the second plan worked.
